Poor weather is slow to rescue efforts in Nepal overnight, but the search for thousands
“of missing people in areas devastated by flash floods this week is continuing.”
Rescue officials say around 700 people have been declared dead, and as many as 3000 other people are still missing four days after the floods hit. Here by Gurmakin is with the International Aid Group World Vision, she says conditions on the ground remained difficult. It is devastating, I see very terrible things there. The people are very much saddened by the flood.
Actually they have lost everything, what I can see is only flood, the sense, moths. The flooding has been most severe along Nepal's border with China. The state's apartment is now taking steps to send some U.S. diplomats back to their posts in the Middle East, but the department is still encouraging American citizens to avoid travel to any countries that have been hit by Iranian missiles and drones in response
to the U.S. is really war in Iran. MPR's Michelle Kellerman has more on our story. In the early days of the war as Iran struck U.S. interests across the Persian Gulf region,
“the U.S. evacuated diplomats and their families leaving only enough staff for emergency”
services for Americans. Underordered and authorized departures, as their known diplomats receive housing allowances to stay in the U.S. to work remotely, but that's only supposed to last 180 days. Now the department is sending some diplomats back. In Qatar, family members may join the U.S. government employees in Kuwait and Bahrain
only family members 18 years and older can go. The U.S. is still discouraging American citizens from traveling to these countries amid uncertainty over the war. Michelle Kellerman and PR news, the state department. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is facing growing pressure about the government's slow
response to rising measles cases as students head back to school. As NPR Salinas Simmons Duffin tells us, now former U.S. health secretary is urging him to do more.
“Kathleen Sebelius served as health secretary under President Obama.”
She said the fact that secretary Kennedy is holding events about school lunches instead of raising public awareness about the dangers of measles is a choice. Doing anything else seems to me a very intentional refusal to confront both the spread of measles throughout the country, but also the effectiveness of vaccines and a clawed action for parents to get their kids vaccinated.
That's especially needed now as students go back to school. She said since measles is extremely contagious and can cause blindness or even death. Salinas Simmons Duffin and PR news. This is NPR news. Counting is now underway in Iceland where residents voted this weekend on whether that country
should resume negotiations to join the European Union. Those in favor of the talk say joining the EU could protect Iceland from possible threats from President Trump, similar to those he's made against Greenland. Officials in San Antonio, Texas say it could be days before electricity is restored after
powerful storms roared through the area Friday night, Texas Public Radio's Jerry Clayton
has more. The storms knocked down power lines, trees, and damaged buildings throughout the city. Public Service, the city's electric utilities says at the height of the storm over 112,000 customers lost electricity. San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones spoke at a press conference on Saturday.

The National Weather Service said straight in line wins were measured at over 75 miles per hour at San Antonio International Airport.
