The President of Iran says the Strait of Hormuz who remain closed until the U.S. makes
“good on its commitments to negotiate and end to the war.”
And the Iranian leader says his country and Oman have reached a tentative agreement to manage traffic through the Strait once it reopens. And Periscaricon reports. "With it my suit position, made his comments on State TV, he says Iran and Oman have an agreed upon route for all shipping traffic.
With vessels entering the Strait through Iranian waters, they would exit through Omani waters. However, the President says Iran is not prepared to lift its blockade until the U.S. drop sanctions releases Iranian funds and brings an end to Israel's war in Lebanon. All commitments, he says the U.S. had originally agreed to.
No direct talks between the U.S. and Iran are taking place. The President also says Iran's economy has been hit hard by the war with foreign trade
dropping by more than a third.
Kerry Khan and Pierre News, Tel Aviv. The Trump administration is increasing its efforts to crack down on immigration.
“New data show a respite isagents hit almost 50,000 in July and that's brought up a new”
problem, just where all the detainees are going to be held. Here's NPR's Vanessa Romo with more. As of July 11, there were nearly 66,000 immigrants being held in detention across the country. And that's according to the TRAC project at Syracuse University. And that's really, really concerning for immigrant rights activists who say that detention
center facilities are already overcrowded. I've spoken with a lot of people in detention and their lawyers, and I've heard about how overcrowding exacerbates so many of the problems that already exist. The latest enforcement effort is part of a broader crackdown on both legal and illegal immigration.
This Governor Greg Abbott is blocking state agencies from spending money on flock surveillance cameras, says police use of the technology draws increasing scrutiny across the country. Texas Public Radio's Dan Kats reports. Flock cameras photograph license plates and collect vehicle information that police can search during investigations.

jurisdiction. Abbott says Texas is tightening oversight after allegations of misuse. As directive bar state agencies from paying for additional cameras, a Texas Tribune investigation found a state agency has helped state and local law enforcement install at least 3,200 flock cameras since 2023.
The Tribune says at least $30 million has gone towards expanding the network.
Through grants funded in part by a $1 fee on Texan's auto insurance policies. Flock says the technology helps police investigate crimes, recover stolen vehicles, and find missing people, and says it has added new privacy safeguards. For MPR News, I'm Dan Kats. Carson Meyer is the first girl to play in the American finals, with her team from Henderson Nevada, facing the squad from Hamilton, Ohio. Nick named Carcar by her teammates, Meyer plays out field and catcher and is a big fan of the Kansas City Royals. The other girl in this year's tournament, Kinley Rasmus, saw her team from Alabama
eliminated this week, but she emerged as a star, tying the record for female players with 14 strikeouts as a pitcher, and setting the record for most hits by a girl with five. Many six girls have played in the annual tournament for 12 year old Little Leagueers since
Victoria Roach of Belgium became the first in 1984.
John Stoleness and PR News. Police in Columbia, South Carolina, say one officer was killed in a second one injured, Saturday after they responded to a domestic violence call. The suspect had a long criminal history. He was also killed in the shooting.
Officials say the dead officer was 29 years old and leaves behind a wife and two children. The other officer is in stable condition. Officials in Ukraine say a Russian drone attack on a warehouse east of Kiev has killed at least 37 people. The building was housing shells, mines, and other ammunition for the defense forces.
