There's a new oil deal between the U.S. and Venezuela, President Trump on Friday called
“it "the biggest oil deal in world history."”
And Paris Franco Ordonius says, "It could give the U.S. majority control of more than 65
billion barrels of worth of oil reserves."
There's no question that Venezuela badly needs investment into its oil industry, which is producing well below its historic production levels. U.S. would also benefit from greater access to Venezuela oil, but what are the political costs we're already seeing big pushback out of Venezuela, as well as in South Florida and Miami, that the U.S. is basically taking part of Venezuela's sovereignty, while also legitimizing
an unelected government. Venezuela's acting president Delci Rodriguez says the deal will help modernize the country's oil industry. Nepal is beginning to hold mass burials after more than 900 people died in last week's devastating floods along its border with Tibet.
