U.S. and Iranian forces are once again exchanging fire as the fight over control of the
state of Hormuz escalates.
“NPR said he allows reality reports that Trump administration completed a second day of strikes”
on Iranian military targets. It said that these strikes were a result of recent Iranian attempts to attack commercial shipping in the state of Hormuz and against American service members in the region. Iran, of course, retaliated by targeting U.S. assets in Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq. The Iranian guard corps spokesperson said today that U.S. forces bombed military and civilian
targets in southern Iran, and caused civilian and military casualties. NPR said deal out-shalty reporting. Global finance leaders have wrapped up several days of G20 meetings in Asheville, North Carolina. The Trump administration used the gathering to push for financial deregulation and stronger economic growth, while also pointing to Asheville's recovery from Hurricane Haleen.
But as Blue Ridge public radios, Laura Hackett reports many people in the region say that recovery is far from complete. Iran Brown, under Secretary for the Department of Treasury, says the Trump administration
“shows Asheville as a G20 host to highlight the city's recovery from Hurricane Haleen.”
A storm that severely damaged the region nearly two years ago. The Trump administration has been incredibly committed to rebuilding Asheville, and it has been dispensing funds to the local community. Asheville residents in politician say North Carolina has only received a fraction of the federal aid it's requested.
As a result, recovery has been slow. Over the weekend, hundreds took to the streets to demand more federal aid.
The storm caused nearly $60 billion in damage.
For MPR News, I'm Laura Hackett. Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey easily turned back a primary challenge from Democratic Congressman Seth Multon. Adam Riley of Member Station, GVH says Markey used Multon's argument for generational change against him.
“Multon is 47, an argument on the campaign trail that it's time for a new generation of leadership.”
The Markey, who is 80, successfully cast himself as the champion of the Democratic Party's younger left-leaning activists. The man accused of killing conservative activists Charlie Kirk will stand trial for murder. A judge on Tuesday ruled that prosecutors had presented enough evidence to move forward with
the case against Tyler Robinson. He's accused of fatally shooting Kirk at Utah Valley University nearly a year ago and faces seven counts, including aggravated murder. George deliberations resumed today in the trial of Lindsey Clancy. The Massachusetts woman charged with killing her three children in 2023.
George told the judge on Tuesday they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict after four days of deliberations. The judge sent them home for the night and instructed them to return today and keep trying. Deborah Brecker from Member Station, WBU, are reports. The jury deliberated for about five hours after saying they could not reach a decision.
Then they were excused for the day. Clancy's attorney Kevin Reddington says he's encouraged by that. On very pleased with the work that this jury has put into the case. Reddington has argued that Clancy should not be found criminally responsible for killing her children because she was experiencing postpartum psychosis.
Prosecutors say she meticulously planned the killings. The jury's deliberated 23 hours so far. For NPR News, I'm Deborah Becker in Boston. Tens of thousands of people are without power and Southeast Texas as a tropical depression dumps heavy rain across the region.
