U.S. special envoy Steve Wittkov and Jared Kushner will visit Moscow and keep this weekend
in a new push to end the war in Ukraine. President Trump says that too will present what he calls a concrete peace proposal. The White House has not disclosed its terms. The BBC's Joe Inwood reports." Jared Kushner and Steve Wittkov, who have represented the U.S. president at a wide range
of negotiations with varying degrees of success, are due to meet leaders of both countries to find a way to end more than four years of fighting. President Zelensky has suggested a limited ceasefire over the weekend, saying there will be no-est strikes on our part, Moscow has yet to respond. A federal judge in Boston has again blocked the U.S. postal services plan to follow in order by President Trump. The order seeks to restrict mail-in voting for the venture elections.
NPR's Hansi Low-Long reports the Supreme Court is already set to review the postal services plan. The ruling by U.S. district judge and dear to Lonnie effectively extends an earlier court order
“stopping the U.S. postal service from moving head with key parts of its plan.”
We should note U.S. P.S. is a financial supporter of NPR. The postal service plan involves delivering mail-in ballots only to people on voter lists that the states would have to turn over to the mail agency. Just to why you found that plan is likely illegal because U.S. P.S. has no authority to control voting by mail. While the legal fight continues, mail-in voting for the mid-term general election

Blymouth County district attorney Tim Cruz says the case should remain focused on the deaths
of her three children. This case is not about a healthcare system or about how women are treated in it or what's

This case, however, was about Lindsay Clancy and what she did on January 24, 2023 and the cruel and calculated killing of three innocence. Clancy's civil attorney Rosemary Skipicio says the mistrial should force broader scrutiny of how women with postpartum and maternal mental health problems are treated. We need to make things right. We need to make sure that when there is postpartum or or
maternal mental health, that these doctors stop listening to women because that's not what they're doing right now and they're doing a disservice to the entire population of women that need care after they have a child. The case is scheduled to return to court on September 29th. This is NPR News. President Trump has signed executive orders aimed at strengthening the U.S. beef industry
and reducing the influence of the country's biggest meat packers. The administration also wants new labeling standards for beef sold in the U.S. Trump says the government will create a program allowing ranchers to sell more of their products to directly to consumers. He says the goal is to give producers more options.
Major storms caused a billion dollars worth of damage in Hawaii the spring.
Now, the island state is contending with a series of hurricanes. Hawaii Public Radio Savannah Harry Min-Pot has more. Hawaii was still recovering from bad to bad spring storms when hurricane Lala sites wiped the state in August. Emergency officials are working to tell the losses from Lala so far they've assessed more than $83 million in damage.
Now Hurricane Loll is expected to bring more rain to the island's early next week. Climate scientist Adam Smith trats major weather events which are occurring more frequently. Back in the 1980s the United States would go roughly three months between billion dollar disasters in the last decade it's closer to every three weeks. He says with climate change more states may have multiple billion dollar disasters in one year making it harder to recover.
