Iran and the U.S. are intensifying attacks in the state of Hormuz, to Iran says it's
“fired at six vessels in and around the waterway while the U.S. on Saturday targeted Iranian”
vessels. NPR's Jenerat reports from "They Root." Iran said Sunday targeted a U.S. submarine trying to enter the state of Hormuz, where the U.S. has imposed and naval blockade. There was no immediate confirmation from the U.S. military.
Iran did not mention casualties. It was the latest in what Iran said were its attacks on three oil tankers in the state and U.S. military vessels in the area, including an aircraft carrier and a destroyer. U.S. Central Command said Saturday, "It struck three Iranian vessels after Iran launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy ships."
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that any vessel trying to transit without authorization

“After holding talks in Moscow, President Trump's envoy, Jerry Kushner, and Steve”
Wickoff arrived in Kiev today. "They're there to offer a proposal," aimed at ending, Russia's war in Ukraine. NPR's Joanna Kikisov's reports, "They're meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has long pushed for their visit." Kushner is Trump's son-in-law and Whitkoff is the president's longtime friend.
They spent more than three hours in discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and officials in the Kremlin. Kushner and Whitkoff have visited Moscow at least eight times in the last couple of years.
This is their first visit to Kiev since Russia's 2022 invasion.

Rescue crews and Nepal are still searching for survivors more than a week after catastrophic flooding triggered by a glacier collapse. More than 1300 people have died while nearly 5,000 are still missing in Nepal. Cruise are continuing to search tunnels and debris around damaged hydro power projects where hundreds of workers were caught in the flooding.
The August 26 floods also devastated communities across the border and to bed where hundreds of people remain missing. This new season has its origins with the Orthodox Church in the late 1980s. The world Council of Churches then took up the cause, bringing along many branches of Christianity.
