Israel recently issued tenders for construction of about 1200 new housing units in what's called this "E1 settlement in the occupied West Bank," which would effectively split into the territory the Palestinians want to form their future state. The UK says it would destroy the two state solution.
In their statement that 12 foreign ministers also accused Israel of turning a blind eye to settler violence and settlement expansion that, quote, "undermines the two state solution." As NPR's camera Keith reports, this is the first convention for Republicans outside of
a presidential election year. The convention is centered around President Trump and his policies. So much so that he's headlining the program both nights. There are questions about how many Republican candidates will actually attend, especially those in tight races trying to get some distance from an unpopular president.
But Alex Triantofilu, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, says he isn't worried. The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. says, "Part of a ceiling collapsed in the performing arts center last Friday evening."
