One vision, I think, is a common sense vision. Low taxes, low regulations, lots of jobs, secure the border, lock up violent criminals and protect our families.

And they're getting more and more extreme. Party conventions are usually held during presidential election years. President Trump pushed for a midterm convention. And mid-the-war with Iran, high prices, and trade wars. He'll deliver the keynote address tonight. New Hampshire's battleground Senate race is set. Former Republican Senator Johnson, New New, and Democratic Congressman Chris Papas will face off for the seat being vacated by Democrat Jean Shaheen. So new news served as Senator in the early 2000s and lost his seat to Shaheen. Papas, a moderate beat a member of the Democratic Socialists of America to win his nomination.
Election observers from the Justice Department monitored several polling locations in Southern New Hampshire. New Hampshire public radios, Low, Low, Goosemont reports.
“Karen Johnson says she's been the election moderator at Beach Street Elementary School in Manchester for as long as she can remember. She says the operations were smooth.”
Even when federal observers came to watch voting at her polling place. It was totally unadventful. They asked a few questions. They just sat here watching what was going on for a little bit. And I didn't have much engagement with them. Reporting a steady stream of voters and no major disruptions despite the federal oversight. Friend PR News, I'm Low Guzman in Manchester. The U.S. is hitting back at Canada's retaliatory tariffs. The White House says it's banning Canadian motorcycles dairy and alcohol products.
The White House announced it was stopping most Canadian alcoholic beverages, dairy, and motorcycles. The Trump administration has also threatened potential 50% tariffs on Canadian assembled in made cars that could kick in this coming January, despite a free trade agreement signed during Trump's first term exempting such cars from tariffs. Earlier this week, Trump also wrote on a social media site he was forbidding Canadian origin products from the GSA. That's the federal government's procurement platform, which handles hundreds of billions of dollars of orders and contracts for goods in software and other services that support federal offices.
Emily Fang reporting. This is NPR. An announcement from OpenAI says it has solved one of mathematics most famous unanswered problems.
“NPR's KDA Riddle reports. The question is known as the Navay Stokes existence and smoothiness problem. It's one of seven millennium prize problems designated by scholars in 2000 to highlight some of the most important challenges in mathematics.”
OpenAI says one of its unreleased models took just 88 hours to produce a possible solution. The problem concerns equations used to describe how fluids move, including in weather models, scientists use versions of them to model everything from weather and ocean currents to air flow around airplanes and blood moving through the body.
But the unanswered question is largely theoretical, whether the equations always behave predictably or can break down under extreme mathematical conditions.
Kitty Riddle and Peer News almost all of the Hawaiian island of Kauai is without power. Her regain low pelted Hawaii's western islands as a category two storm. The winds brought down trees and power lines on Kauai and destroyed homes and businesses about 73,000 people live on the island. Lowell has now weakened to a tropical storm, but there's still a serious threat of flash flooding and mudslides in the Hawaiian islands. The National Weather Service says up to five inches of rain could fall on the big island.
The storm is forecasted gradually continue weakening over the next few days, bumps of cleanup could be ahead. The NFL season kicks off today with a super bowl rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. I'm Christian Wright, this is NPR.
