- It's impossible to not do that with one of your feet.
Shots to the web of your wards, shots to the listener, shots to everybody to stop through and with a guest on the show. And of course, shout out to OK player. And this is the perfect time to announce that
we'll be coming back with season four of the Almanac rap. Each week, we'll be dropping a new episode into your feed to make sure you get your dose of interviews, random facts, untold stories,
and other curiosity that crossed my mind. You can expect new episodes to start hitting your feed in the coming weeks, but until then, feel free to go back and check out past episodes. I would recommend Rodney Jerkins.
- On the business side is a producer songwriter. The number one asset is going to be published. - Yeah. - That was an artist.
“The number one asset is going to be your masters, right?”
And just hearing him kind of tell me stories about did you know how I owned this song? I think the quote and the funny thing,
'cause we always talk about the Beatles,
like my own, my own, at the Sony ATB. - Yes. - My own, don't let the win. Did you know that? - I did not know that.
Or Lupen Fiat's gonna have a really good episode too. Somehow through the, you know, you're coming up as artists, me, people. The role hit was running the radio programs and I was like, "Hey, do y'all wanna do a radio show."
And so me and my man, Bishop Jean, was like, "We're gonna do after that radio." - Right, that's pretty. (laughs) (laughs)
“- But it was either the show before or the show after.”
And we didn't know what we were doing. So either the show after us was Ford home radio, which was Virgil. So Virgil was DJing and playing like music from all over the world.
- Yeah. - And so then he would stick around to produce our show. I mean, it like worked the board. - Oh, yeah, wow. - And yeah, run the music stuff like that.
So Virgil was like, "Our tech production dude." And then that was how a relationship kind of began. Can't forget about Leila Hathaway, mind blowing. - Young thug, which I know who young thug is. - So Mubo's a fashion, but I don't know any of the songs.
- The words are just kind of like implied. It's like, almost like, you know how sometimes artists go on a studio to figure out the words, like the freestyle version. And then like, leave a reference with just like,
the cadence and with, like, a substance, yeah. - And they mumble around with it, just leave that, that's the whole song. - God bless everyone. (laughing) - I need to understand what you're saying.
- A track set, but so it was fire.
“- One of my favorite things that I think you fired here for me”
is DJing without headphones. (laughing) - Yeah, man. Like, you'll be on a festival stage just doing like battle routine is damn near.
And I'm like, like, how does he do that? - It's funny. - Well, look, nowadays I do a lot of my shows on CDJs. - Yeah, yeah. - And on CDJs, like, the use of the tempo
was like on the screen. So like, but you just need to, like, start on beat. - Yeah. - And then, yeah. - But there's definitely a point where I realized,
like, I don't really need these headphones. - You know what? Just go binge watch 'em all. Check the whole cat-of-all, every back season, and get back to me.
(upbeat music) The episode to be available on YouTube, Spotify,
Apple Podcast, hockey cast, basically anywhere
you get podcasts, you can hear it. And comment below, or let me know who you think I should talk to on this CD, of the Almanac Abrax. (upbeat music)
