Thank you and enjoy the show. Hello, and welcome to the DSR Daily of David Rothkopf. I'm joined by Riley Fessler, Minestine. We're here to talk about what's going on in the world today, a Wednesday.

And so who's going to kick us off?

I'm going to kick us off this fine Wednesday morning. CBS news officially terminated veteran 60 minutes correspondent Scott Pellie for call us on Tuesday evening, completing a rapid and stunning purge of the news magazines old guard. The firing came just 24 hours after Pellie launched a fierce, staff-wide verbal attack

against the broadcasts new executive producer, Nick Bilton, and CBS news editor and chief Barry Weiss. Yeah, I mean, look, these people are running CBS are destroying it. They've had little, if any, value prior to this point, now they're destroying 60 minutes. They're a bunch of partisan hacks.

Nobody should watch CBS. Nobody will watch CBS.

I think the only people who watch CBS were 70 plus, anyway, who had some distant memory

of Walter Cronkite, 60 minutes was a good show, top rated television show, they're now committed to destroying that, and I wish them all the lack of success this brings them. Their motivations are terrible, and they don't seem to realize that in the business that they are in, when they destroy things, they actually destroy the business. Though point, the whole reason they've influences to attract eyeballs, not to stick their

thumb in the eye of a bunch of liberals who they don't particularly like, or Democrats they don't like, or people who are interested in the facts that they don't like, or people who aren't interested in the propaganda that they want to distribute. So what are they going to do? They're going to ruin it even further.

It's over for me. I don't go there. I'm sure most of you don't go there, and as they crash and burn, we won't even notice. Well, California's primary election happened yesterday, and while we still don't have the official results, we have some interesting early results, because Democrat Javier

Masera and Republican Steve Hilton are leading the field of candidates under the state's top-to-system, Masera achieved a dramatic polling comeback following the exit of former representative Eric Swallwell, while the Trump endorsed Hilton as campaign heavily on bringing political change to the state, although billionaire progressive Tom Steyer currently trails

in third place, the final results remain uncertain due to unusual shifting trends in male

and in person. It sounds like a story, right?

Oh my god, California, big state, having primary jungle primary, crazy primary, right?

It's not a story, because, for example, in California, in Los Angeles, what Karen Bass is the mayor. She's running for reelection. She finished in first place in the polling. It's going to go to a run-off.

She's going to probably do the run-off against Spencer Pratt, an idiot reality show star, who Trump likes, because he's an idiot reality show star, right? But what's going to happen? The Republican registration in Los Angeles is 15%, once there are no other Democrats in the race, Karen Bass is going to win easily.

Same is going to happen with Havier Paseira, over this Steve Hilton broadcaster guy who's

carpet banker from England, and you probably remember Ed Blue's talking about him on

deep state radio. We'll talk more about what's going on in American politics, what's really going on in American politics on deep state radio later today, where we're going to feature Ed Blue's in a conversation with a couple of well-known political specialists, because Ed wrote his

Column about the rise of Democratic Socialism among the young, and I can prov...

Socialism is on the rise among the young.

I'll just turn to Riley.

Hey, Riley, what do you think of Democratic Socialism?

I think it's great. Give me more. Give me more. Hey, men, what do you think of Democratic Socialism? Give me more.

Yeah, exactly. That's, you know, these crazy kids, you know, because you know why, Socialism, to people who are over 60 years old, meant a completely different thing from a Cold War vintage.

But that's a long time ago, like it's a real fucking long time ago.

It's 35 years ago, so to another audience, what Socialism means is an alternative to voucher capitalism that is driving inequality, that is producing an oligarchy in the United States that is screwing everybody in this country.

They look, and they say, well, where did things work in the world?

Then, for example, they work in Northern Europe, where most of the societies, where you would call them, a product Socialist, strong social safety net, as it happens, also strong fiscal responsibility, some of the countries with the strongest social safety nets in the world, are also countries with the most regularly balanced budgets that win, you know, the poll rankings and fiscal responsibility, and you know what else they get, they get very high scores

on things like quality of life, you know, happiness index, those kind of things. And so, oh my God, is it really possible you could have a better life if you weren't worried that getting sick would make you bankrupt, or you weren't worried that wanting to go to college would make you bankrupt, or you weren't worried that when you get old, you would have to live in a fucking refrigerator box, like, you know, in this country, or you thought

maybe the country should take some steps to protect you against environmental degradation and being poisoned in the air and in the water, oh my God, what crazy radical ideas are those? They're not radical, they're the ideas of what's better viewed by a rising generation who knows thanks to Donald Trump, the Republican Party, Centrist and the Democratic Party,

what doesn't work, and what doesn't work, American capitalism as we've been practicing it for the past 50 years.

So that's why Rylian men are such crazy radicals, they're not radicals, they just want

what's better for America anyway, we'll talk more about that on our podcast later. Well, speaking of things not working, I have another story. Yeah. The Supreme Court. Yes.

Supreme Court, not working, cleared the way yesterday for Alabama to implement a Republican drawing congressional map that eliminates one of the state's two districts for black voters make up a majority or near majority. The six three decision hands a significant victory to Trump and National Republicans as the party fights to defend its razor thin control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

Yeah. And this was on the, as they want to call it, the interim docket, the shadow docket, it was an unsigned opinion and essentially what it said was even though this Alabama opinion is clearly racial in its motivation and therefore would have been blocked in the past. We're okay with it.

And you know why they're okay with it, you know, why the right wing majority on our Supreme Court is okay with it. Anybody any suggestions any I'd rightly do you have any idea why they're okay with it? Because it benefits Trump and conservatives. That's right.

And because they're a bunch of corrupt party hacks, look, as far as I'm concerned, if you want to fix America, you got to fix the Supreme Court, and frankly, you will not find meeting voting for any candidate who does not support immediately increasing the size of the court to 13 people and imposing term limits. Also creating ethical standards for the court that are enforceable.

These people are taking gifts, which you can read as bribes from rich people who have an agenda, they're implementing that agenda. It's not even the Trump agenda. It's the Leonard Leo agenda, it's the Federalist Society agenda, it's the longtime agenda of the right to get rid of regulations, to get rid of things that cost companies a lot,

to get rid of a state that takes care of its citizens in order to create a state that is more comfortable for the Super Rich. This court has got to go.

These things must be dealt with, or we will never fix our society.

That's why I come back to a theme that we go through over and over and over a...

Structure reform, accountability from the corrupt are not a distraction from kitchen table issues.

They're the only way to be able to address kitchen table issues and help ensure that average

Americans have the kind of opportunity, have the kind of equal protection under the law that they deserve. It is the American ideal. Well, our acting attorney general Todd Wange confirmed that the Justice Department will uphold a controversial settlement provision, shielding President Trump, his family, and

his businesses from ongoing IRS audits, although the administration has abandoned a related

proposal to establish a $1.0 billion anti-weaponization fund, following heavy Republican

backlash and obviously heavy Democratic backlash. Legal experts and Democrats have criticized this as unprecedented immunity raising concerns over conflicts of interests and questioning the legal authority of the acting attorney general to halt IRS investigations. Café in its best form, with the new Cuba-1 capsule machine from Shibu, in every Cuba-Capsule

deckspitsen café, from special unwaugubieten, for espresso, coffee creamer, or coffee creamer of Knopfdruck. The new Cuba-1 show with premium design, compact growth, and small earnings price up to 29 euros. Thank innovative press brutation technology, for every tassel-based aromatic with the same

degree creamer. And there can now be Cuba-Capsule machine in Diner, Shibu, Fiala, and of Chibode, eh? Look, folks, this was all bullshit anyway, right? Initially, as we noted, the reason that Trump went and tried to get this IRS settlement was to put cash in his own pocket.

He wanted $10 billion settlement. When people were outraged by that, he created this weaponization fund, as he calls it. But it was not really because he cared much about that. He would put some money in his own pocket, in his son's pocket, in his friend's pocket. But it was kind of a screen to cover up the real thing that was important to a mirror,

which this is this tax immunity agreement. There's already a sense that Trump owes about $100 million due to past decisions regarding past audits. And it could be a lot more than that. Remember the lengthy New York Times piece on Trump and tax fraud.

And Trump is trying to protect himself against this.

That's why Trump is constantly in battles with the IRS.

That's why Donald Trump alone, among presidents of the past several decades, and alone, among presidential candidates of the past several decades, has not released his tax returns. In fact, the thing that he objects to the IRS doing, every other president and presidential

candidate has done voluntarily, but he's always involved in a scam.

He's always involved in trying to put more money in his pocket. And you've always got to look for that whenever you look at a Trump decision, you've got to say, why would he make such a crazy decision? And it always ends up that if you follow the money, you follow it into Trump's bank account and that explains what's going on.

Now, with regard to this illegal agreement to give him and his family immunity, the minute a new president comes in, that's going to be tossed out the window. Will it be challenged legally before then? Maybe. What Todd Blanch's Justice Department, go after Trump for any of this stuff?

No way. So it's kind of meaningless in the long term. What this principle of follow the money is really an important principle for all of us to keep in mind. I can apply it to anything, like yesterday, Donald Trump hired or nominated a guy to be the

acting director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, named Bill Polty, who ran a mortgage operation in the U.S. government.

And you have to say to yourself, well, this guy has no intelligence experience.

Why would he do that? Is it just to weaken the U.S. intelligence community? And I think no, Trump sees that as a bonus.

He's never a much like them, and he's always wanted to advance the interest of his friends

overseas, notably Vladimir Putin. But the mission Trump has for this guy is not that. We have to say, well, what is it? Well, the mission always has to do with protecting Trump and serving Trump's financial and personal interest.

And so what do you want this guy to do?

You want this guy to dig up anything that might be incriminating and intellig...

and shred them.

You want this guy to come up with conspiracy theories that can enable Trump to remain in power

because when Trump can remain in power or people are close to Trump can remain in power,

they can do what Todd Blanch does, which is protect Trump. So you don't need somebody who knows something about intelligence. You need a party hack who's going to protect the president and do what the president says. So the president can try to retain power via whatever means. So the president can continue to steal from the U.S. government.

And so the president can avoid consequences for his past crimes. And that's what it's all about. So all you have to do is dig a few layers down and you get to the same old thing. The greed and twisted character of a criminal president of the United States. One more story, we're going to talk about the war.

You don't sound like you want to.

It sounds like I've just bummed you out so much that it's like, I don't want to do any more

story. It's going to get worse as my fear. I feel like we're already at a fragile point. And I don't want to make it worse for you. Well, that's, you know, okay, next time as I say, it was revealed earlier to us that men

have placed the banjo.

And that's why I think she should bring the banjo onto the podcast and then she can

provide little music breaks in between to cheer you up before we move on to the next story. Exactly. Because I do feel like you could use a break. But a boost.

Yeah. Okay. Thanks. Thanks for that, man. Go on.

All right.

The military confrontation between the US and Iran escalated sharply yesterday, featuring

direct air strikes on Iran, sovereign territory, and the high seas destruction of a commercial vessel.

The last round of hostilities underscores a volatile deadlock, US forces are actively

disabling non-compliant maritime traffic while Iran continues to leverage its missile arsenal against regional US hubs, even as Secretary of State Marco Rubio firmly ruled out unilateral diplomatic concessions during a tense congressional testimony. Yeah, tense, he didn't answer any questions, he lied, he defended the indefensible and this thing goes on and on and Trump was interviewed a couple times and in one of the interviews

is like, I'm that I find this boring. I'm kind of over this. I don't really like these negotiation, but anymore. And you know, that's the truth. It just, you know, he thought it was going to be a win for him, he thought it was going

to be easy. It was going to be in and out, thought it was going to win kudos from the right by kicking the Iranian ass a little bit, and guess what, didn't happen. No why? Because anybody who knows anything about the region knows that it was going to end up this

way. Problem is, he doesn't like getting advice, he doesn't like being told these wrong, so he does things that are crazy and wrong, and we end up in places like this. And this wound is going to faster, it could faster for the remainder of his term in office.

He's going to try to put a lid on it, but so long as his right hand partner in this thing is wing man is BB net Yahoo, who simply has a different agenda and simply wants to be at war with his neighbors for the foreseeable future, there's not a ceasefire that's going to hold. And to the degree that BB is actually in charge here and Trump is the wing man, it's

going to only be worse. So all I can say is this a bad situation, you are going to feel it at the gas pump, the food prices, your farmer with fertilizer prices, the slowdown of the global economy for a long time to come. And what I worry is that they've got a new guy in it, the Fed, and he's bringing in some

new people who are part of Project 2025, which does not like the existence of an independent central bay. And they're going to see all this bad economy and they're going to say, well, let's come up with some crazy solution to fix it, like putting money into the economy when we shouldn't put money into it or undermining the strength of the dollar in ways that create a short-term

fix here and embracing crypto in ways that undermine the strength of the dollar. All those things could happen. So I worry that this creates a sort of a chronic condition that lead to other big mistakes. Anyway, that's where we are.

We hope that you'll join us later for Deep State Radio, so we talk about stat...

in the U.S. and a new and interesting way. And to all our other podcasts, please join us there, and we'll be seeing you, bye-bye.
