asleep all right why don't why don't we dive in do a couple of the top stories and then if you guys have questions for us please shoot them our way well starting with the big one for today under a

“U.S. broker to agreement Hamas has agreed to a phased disarmament process and exchange front”

and it is really strikes and a gradual troop withdrawal from Gaza why is this the big one it is undoubtedly oh shit but you know yeah no it's big because it's been announced and so it must really be gonna happen right absolutely 100% going to happen this time this isn't like the other dozen times where we were teas that it was going to happen. 2016 times shame on say about that well exactly yeah you know let's just say this the White House and President said look I've got this

very breakthrough and Hamas is gonna disarm of course Hamas disarming according to this agreement

is dependent on the Israelis withdraw there's no assurance that the Israelis are gonna withdraw then in terms of Hamas disarming Hamas says that means big weapons not you know the kind of weapons you keep around your house and so there's a bit of a dispute about that so you know here we are announcing yet another deal in which the moving parts don't look like they've really been agreed to it's kind of like well let's see if this flies and reminds me a lot of our Iran you know

that's great that fantastic deal that we have with Iran which was the memorandum of mis understanding is it good to be heading towards peace in Gaza yes would it be good for Israel to withdraw and Hamas to disarm yes because both of those things that are predicates to getting actual functioning governance in Gaza for the Palestinians which is one of the only ways that you can actually get to a point where they get to rebuild no not the countries that want to give money to

rebuild Gaza are willing to do it until there is some kind of independent government anyway it's you know but let's not sniff it seemingly good news especially in a sense it's a Friday but

“God admit we approach this with a high degree of skepticism remember the 22-point Gaza plan”

of which we've sort of only got to a three-point stand the plan this one smells to me a little tiny Eat see wean see bit like an effort to distract from the shit show in Iran but you get maybe

guys think I'm being hyperskipped no that sounds about right I mean it's always just some new

distraction but yeah I mean I have about as much faith that this one works as the others as I do not think I know who is going to disarm in Gaza but that is just me or withdraw I should say yeah particularly before the election in October well what else you got well my first story is about a party we did not get invited to what I hate that when that happens well you might be glad about this one president Trump is hosting his administration's 13th second term cabinet meeting

at Camp David marking a change of venue for sessions known for their extended lengths and praise from officials White House press secretary Caroline Levitt framed the gathering as a unique team building

All Trump previously allowed unedited multi-hour public broadcasts of cabinet discussions

is recently pushed officials to shorten their remarks to prevent meeting from stretching on for hours.

“Well you know it's hard to contain your compliments for the for dear leader and that's what is”

actually happening right now they go around the table and they go you know Mr. President you have great hair or you know Mr. President how did he get your abs to be so for or you know Mr. President no one has done more for this country or for Christianity or for the world than you in fact you are a god like figure and they go around the table and he goes oh that's great and he introduced

them all by saying this is a great group they're doing great things for America they're only a couple

of stiffs a month it was like really this maybe he started out with a kind of a slam of of the group one of the things it's interesting about this is he hates Camp David's kind of designed to be kind of rustic you know it's out there it's in the woods and there's no gold as of yet we haven't you know we didn't we haven't seen that the the gilded tents that are going up around this place but he doesn't like going there and undoubtedly part of it is because they'll have an off the record

meetings saying oh yeah everything's going terribly we're going to do very bad in the midterm elections

and we've got to figure out how to get out of this morning Iran and so forth because

inside and what I'm hearing from people inside is it is a fire drill and there's also a lot of sort of brewing tension and you could see you can see it a little in these meetings or you can see it in some of the pictures there were some pictures from meeting yesterday with congressional staff and Susie while was there and vans was there and so forth and if you look at their faces they're not happy that they they they know that the world is breathing down their neck they see the polls

they know that Democrats could win go up 20 more seats in the in the house they know there's a chance they could lose the Senate they know their hand-picked candidates like Ken Paxon are doing terribly and you know clearly what they want is you know somebody to come up with a great idea here's the one great idea that would really help Trump a lot now and I don't know that anybody in this group has the courage to propose it and that is get out of Iran just leave stop cut your

“losses and the war if you want to say that you won boss say that you won will all say that you won will”

say that it's fantastic but get out because every single day it goes on further the price of gasoline goes up the price of diesel goes up the price of food goes up there's risks of it spreading as it is currently spreading now across the region and may spread further I mean remember the Ukrainian shot in Iranian shift the other day in the Iranians were like in the caspiancy and the Iranians were like maybe we should respond so you know that's the the one big thing the Trump needs because

if it doesn't come more inflation the bad economic results this week slow growth the markets are super skittish and this is not one of our stories but I'm telling you folks who are taking the time to listen and we're all glad you're joining us look at what's happening with Apple stock today down 9% look at what's happened to AI stocks in the past couple of weeks look at what has happened in the South Korean stock market in the past week the markets are jewelry it's getting to be

that time of year the valuations as we discussed on a recent Siliconjustness with an economist are up where they were kind of before the dot com boom bubble burst in the earliest part of this century and so you know this war is raising the risks that there is a market shot also the bond markets listen to horses meeting of the fed where they didn't raise rates and they didn't like what they were getting because they see the inflation and they know what he should be doing

is raising rates and that Trump doesn't want that so what may have looked like an act of independence because they didn't lower rates was actually an act of submission because they didn't raise them

“so you know they got a lot to discuss their cap David and I think they just want to get out of”

the beltway because otherwise I don't know leaks because that's happening too by the way one of the other things one of the telltale signs in Washington that administration is in trouble

administration including the leaks the out of the defense department that were depleting our

“stocks of weapons which they hate or the leaks there's big story in the Wall Street Journal today”

about the woman who's raising all this grift for the president so anyway this is this is an emergency meeting it's going to begin with a bunch of flating of the president of the United States sorry folks but it's going to then go into behind closed doors screaming yelling and unhappiness and by the way we know from recent reports that president Trump is screaming yelling and unhappy because the Iran thing isn't going well he's not known for his cool hit anyway but I'll see

and back to the show well our president is publicly defending his proposed one point a billion dollar

anti weaponization fund while calling for the senate to immediately confirm acting attorney general

“Todd blanch key republican senators install the blanch's confirmation and demanding written”

assurances the justice department will not establish the controversial fund which is intended to compensate Trump allies claiming government abuse despite the ongoing standoff blanch can legally continue serving as acting attorney general for the remainder of Trump's presidency as long as his nomination remains pending before the senate which seems like a bullshit work that's there he can and they and he can be renewed under the law so he can be the attorney general for the remainder

of Trump's term but you've got to wonder like why is Todd blanch not agreeing as john corn and ask the very minimal john corn and ask to say no we are not going to go ahead with this slush fund for you know January six felons and others and and and he's already said they're

“not going to go ahead with it well you heard today because Trump today said yeah I think I'd”

like to keep going with that fund those people were hunted down in Trump's words like dogs as it turned out you know their criminals they attack the police you know they many of them who've gotten pardon's have ended up back in jail they're really talk about the worst of the worst the worst of the worst are the people that Trump is pardoning and the Trump wants to direct this slush fund to but listen to this the slush fund is a distraction yeah sure he wants the slush fund he

can pay off some people and you know he hopes it'll keep the army ready to respond you know his sort of militia army that he wants to have but the real reason is that Trump wants this this unbelievably corrupt part of the agreement where it says he you know he's not going to be audited ever again his kids aren't going to be audited again that companies are not going to be audited ever again

first of all it's not actually enforceable it's not legal in fact it's grotesque illegal

secondly court has already called this whole deal into question because it was a self-dealing kind of deal there was no adversarial relationship at the heart of it but Trump doesn't want anybody to narrow that agreement in any way well why why if he's an ordinary American paying his taxes like all other Americans should Trump want you know not want to you know I don't know leave the door open to be audited in the future to be treated like any other taxpayer in the future and there's

only one reason and the reason is he knows he's a tax fraudster you saw the stories in the New York Times you've seen the cases that have been brought against him you know that he has

huge liability some of estimated the liability in this case to be a hundred million dollars he doesn't

want a pay it he doesn't want his kids to pay it this is the most corrupt deal ever imagine

that they can never make me pay taxes again pulling smokes I mean that I mean it's just beyond the

“beyond and that's the thing he wants to protect and that's why you know you know blanches and”

go in for this thing might they come up with some half-assed deal where they narrow it but it's not really commitment and so who knows who knows but we do know this Todd Blanche has no business being attorney general look at the galane max web deal look at the going after James Komey and other of the president's enemies look at his general behavior he's no business in this office and he's going to be there whether Senate wants him to be there or not whether you and I want him to

be there not Todd Blanche is going to be running that apartment of justice barring some incredibly unforeseen eventuality through the end of this term of the Trump presidency and that's bad for America because means we don't have a justice department means we've got a law firm serving the

“president and his vindictive agenda and his corruption and other than that Justice Department's”

not even you know doing the things that normally does to protect us from criminals, from foreign interference, from all the other things and of course you know who who else reports the deputy attorney general as Todd Blanche is but not other than cash but help who is you know the most incompetent director of the FBI ever so we've just got a buckled down and learned to live with it hopefully courts elsewhere and attorney general's across the United States will provide some counter balance

against this will rampant unprecedented corruption. Offer a bit of a Trump palette cleanser. A palette cleanser? Just a little palette cleanser. people care about in Michigan is the race between Stevens and I'll say it and the reality is

this he is up by a lot the elections only a few days away it's driving a lot of people crazy because he wants these insane things for the people of Michigan like healthcare you know and that's like oh my god he's he's he's being supported by Bernie and AOC he must be a democratic socialist because he wants people to have healthcare oh my god it's insane it's communism because he wants people to have the same kind of protections in their lives that the citizens of every

developed nation in the world but the United States out that's radical that's insanely radical of course he has also said that he doesn't want the United States to offer blank check to Israel and that's really the lightning rod for this election because his opponent Hayley Stevens

has accepted an estimated 40 to 60 million dollars from APEC related organizations and she has said

absolutely batshit where the stories go pro Israel forces support Hayley Stevens okay APEC

is not pro Israel APEC is an apologist for the Netanyahu regime in Israel which is doing things which are undermining Israel you might think it was pro Israel if you were against the war crimes against the isolation of Israel against you know the de democratization of Israel against seizing more land than the West Bank against you know starting wars and so forth and you know

“I think there's a big awakening coming people just don't want to write the blank checks anymore”

it's not just democrats it's majority of all Americans it's not just you know groups that that exclude Jewish Americans it's the majority of Jewish Americans there has been a generational change here APEC thinks it can write checks to you know for stall that generational change but they can't because this election has not been conducted in the way that elections used to be conducted with TV ads and so forth this election is being conducted on social media where I'll

sad and the people around him have a much better way of communicating he is much better at it and you know I think you know it looks like he's gonna win and then there's some democrats go oh my god because it shows she performs better against Rogers the Republican in the fall

the reality is this a bad candidate is a bad candidate if he wins and he is the only candidate

the polls will change momentum is on his side if things continue to go against Republicans he can do quite well many polls show it to be extremely close and you know I just think you know people are sick of it people see big money coming in whether it's APEC money or whether it's dot com money you know money from AI companies money from the likes of Palantir money from billionaires and they say I don't want any part of that anymore in fact I'm gonna go and make a

radical radical position here okay which I will share with each and every one of you and that is

if somebody takes 10 20 30 million dollars from anybody it's disqualifying I don't care who the

money is coming from if you're taking a big donation corporate money like that it is disqualifying you are selling yourself out it is very possible to run elections without taking these kind of corporate money and I predict that over the course not just of this Michigan election but over the course of this 2020 sex election there will be a massive rejection of this idea of big checks in winning an American politics in fact you know there's a concept in law called jury

nullification where the jury just comes in and throws out the case because it feels differently

“and chooses a different approach well I think in this particular case we may see”

Supreme Court decisions being nullified I think the American people have it within their power to say no citizens united was a bad decision and you may give the rich the right to give as much money as they want to anybody but we are gonna take that right away from that by voting against people who put their candidacies up for sale to the highest bidder no more corporate money no more bro bro the guard money no more AI money no more Wall Street money

no more APAC money no more special interest money and I I mean you know as you look at the three of us doing this podcast is obvious we're all Gen Z right we have our finger on the beating pulse of the youth of the voice of them yeah of the youth well okay there Gen Z I'm not Gen Z but you know I think this is something where people are just fed up with corruption

“in American politics and every story connects to corruption and that's why people like John”

stories or it's Trump's mega deals in his crypto or it's the way the Supreme Court works our system is corrupt and the issue in this election is to take back power so that it doesn't

and so that's why my money is on the candidates Tariko or or AOC or others who are making this point and in Michigan where I think we'll see that result on Tuesday and I think it's a great thing for the country it's just gonna make people in the political establishment in both parties real freaking uncomfortable it's gonna make consultants who love those big checks because they get 15% of it and get to buy a B-chowse and Rehobes Delaware that they're gonna hate it but for the

rest of us it's good news so yeah that's a power cleanser and and whoever said they're especially David David Genzi is that what you just said that I'm not don't look Genzi I am I raged I'm I'm I'm I'm I raged this is like I'm sort of naturally blonde to platinum blonde

okay go on well we've got a couple questions but I'm gonna wrap up our stories first

with an AI story that we've been covering and know it is not about Elon Musk's all white Odyssey remake which David I know you're especially excited for oh yeah the wait a little bit longer for that one yeah that that's gonna be that's gonna be great well you know with Elon Musk what the hell is going on this guy is a Nazi he has a white supremacist he supports our enemies he does he's not he's thinking whether or not he should give you crane what it needs to continue

to fight in this war and a huge chunk of his business comes from business with the U.S. government that shouldn't be the case we shouldn't be supporting guys like this or Peter T. L. or whatever that's another part of going after the corruption democrats come in and they wouldn't 2026 and they wouldn't 2028 these guys have got to get off the door they've got to get off of corporate welfare for Nazis that's that's where that's where this thing has got to go and you know let's start

with the Elon given the huge amount of damage he did with doge and you know who knows if we act facts and fast enough we won't have to put up with his all white version of the Odyssey well so you know what that actually leads beautifully into one of our questions but from Linda which who asks what impact do you think Elon's nine figure plan to support GOP candidates will make

why don't you know I mean the reality is this it has some impact and it depends on where the

money is deployed if he's deploying it in red districts it has none because that you know the red districts will probably go in that direction if he's deploying it in purple districts and people are voting against Trump candidates because they've had it after two terms of Trump and they've seen

“the Congress hasn't delivered I think it's going to be a lot less than it was in the past now you know”

2024 there was a lot of Hanky Panky and he was like given a million bucks here and a million bucks there to me that all smelled pretty corrupt and I wouldn't be surprised it at some point in their future we found out Elon and other of these people were trying to undermine the elections in some illicit ways I know I sound like it conspiracy theorists but you know it's the way they they have operated so I guess the simple answer that question is less than he thinks and you know it's

up to us you know it's up to voters to say am I going to be swayed by Elon's big check writing and the place where I I think he's really going to feel at the most and look at these polls look at the polls in Michigan look at elsewhere is independence independence or they're not on the fence anymore 70% 80% and a lot of these polls are they're done with Trump and that was you know that was where you know the Elon money was going to pick people off also young stupid men

you know the Joe Rogan the Joe Rogan class about it those guys are those guys are they they they they they get it Joe Rogan has has gotten it in some ways and that's saying something since

“I think he's got a coconut on top of his neck as opposed to an actual functioning brain but”

but hey I think the impact of the big money will be much less than it has been in the past and

ten percent of people get their information from mainstream media anymore so the that's where

“the big money goes and that's where the consultants like to direct it because they get paid a”

fixed chunk of that it's it's going to be in in new media and you know despite the fact that he owns ex uh Elon has proven to be completely toned up what it comes to new media not only is he destroyed that site but on a daily basis the past couple of weeks Elon has sent the message to the world I'm a Nazi I'm a racist I'm I'm fo- fo- meanting uh unrest and and you know sort of white unrest in Europe as well as here so sooner we're done with him uh uh uh uh uh the better

by the way I see here there's a question can you comment if there's permanent damage to our

international standing with a result of bad scotist decision and the answer is of course I mean

what what what what decision could be I mean citizens united was bad right uh get on getting rid of uh women's right to choose and her bodily are taught right to control her own body that's bad you know the rest of the world doesn't operate that way anymore but but the the immunity decision in the Trump case in 2024 that was disastrous because that's the one that said to the world no in the United States people are above the law and it led to an enormous rise in corruption we're

foreign government said yeah we can pay him up because he's gonna take the money and look at how blatant he has been in his corruption and the result of all of that is um the people it's view the United States is not being a democracy as being for sale and uh a lot of the people who are buying it's support are not the nicest people in the world and the result is a fall in our standing and you look at recent polls uh the pupil that just came out about America's standing in

the world it has plummeted um and you know Xi Jinping is viewed by more people in the world as reliable positive leader than Donald Trump and this is all the result of scotist super empowering this guy and saying all the agencies of the government so forth report up to him uh this supreme court

“has done more damage to the United States in the long term than I believe even Donald Trump has done”

and this is gonna be you know that you know we go back in time and look at you know justice tawny and dread scot which is widely regarded the worst decision of all time by this pre court this is worse this court is gonna for sure go down in history as the most corrupt uh and and the most inept uh and I and I lay that all of the feet by the way at the six conservative justices or conservatives the wrong word the six extreme right-wing justices uh the the the the the three

so called liberal justices have have done heroic work in case after case calling out the abuses of the majority we've got a few more questions that I think are more interesting than our last story so let's

get to those first no wait what's the last story all right we'll be the last not just what is it

just tell me it's all about how not only did open AI have an AI breach containment but now anthropic did too and it is hack multiple oh yeah let's yeah let's not talk about the fact that multiple big AI providers have their AI breaking out of their systems getting it to other people systems uh and doing this against the instructions that they have and causing damage because where could that lead that's bad boring or only only can be good guys yeah and and how does that

type of corruption when you know the big donors and the people that's around Trump are Larry Ellison who wants to be the face of AI marks Zuckerberg who wants to be the face of a a Peter deal who through palenters sending all you know getting all these government contract you know these these stories you're reading books they're from you know anthropic and open AI and these are companies that are sort of more transparent visible not quite as transparent

“as they should be obviously but what do you think palenters doing with its secret contracts”

with Pete Hague Seth and the defense department where Pete is saying there are no limitations

do a podcast called Silicon consciousness and I've gone to be I've been a lot of you don't listen to it but it is on AI we've been doing it for a couple of years and I got to tell you I mean I had a weird we had a guy on last week who is uh you know and and ground the clock AI reporter very very good guy and he says oh I'm not a skeptic and and in his last presentation to a large completely said no now I'm worried because of these these these systems breaking out

“and lack of control I think what are the most amazing stories in American politics right now”

is that AI is a local news story everywhere you look whether it's data centers or privacy or security or the influence of tech products and stuff like now you know I live in Washington and I've been dealing with AI for years and years and years and I've to tell you the number of people in Washington who understand what it is has not grown a bit so if you really want to be scared of something you have a global transformative technology that could control I don't know autonomous weapons

platforms anybody seem the Terminator and steel IP and undermine education and dislocate millions if not more jobs and create greater inequality than ever and the people who are being asked to make the laws about it and control it and set up the guidelines don't understand it and the people who are saying let us go and go whole hog and do whatever we want have bought the president of the United States it ain't pretty it it it it really isn't pretty so you're right you're right

Riley let's just skip that story okay I'm good with that I've had my film do more okay let's do water two more but you know let the folks go soon but if there were to more questions yeah

and he said we have to go out to this dinner and it was a rainy night and it was a midwood queen at the midwood Brooklyn and we go there and there's a state assembly manner state senator I don't remember which one comes up to end of the meeting and this is young guy fresh at a Harvard

and and it was Chuck Schumer and he started he he started talking I was like I've never seen

anybody this ambitious in my life you know and and this is a guy who's just a political animal and he's always sort of looking for the right angle and I think in some respects his hearts in the right place but he is a creature of another era I saw somebody on here said thing you know I thanks David you read by mind I'm also not Jen Zyer anything other than a baby boomer but I'm a hundred percent with a Allen minute I'm a boomer all I like to think Jen Jones

“because I'm on the later end of the boomer stuff but but but but here's the thing”

the time for boomers and politics is over we've had our shot we've had a bunch of presidents that were boomers three born in 1946 the same year George W. Bush Bill Clinton and Donald Trump and I think they've done on the whole pretty crappy job America was in a stronger position globally when they took over in 1992 that with just one the Cold War and as in a weaker position now economically in terms of competitiveness in terms of developing new technologies and all the

scientists say all bad things have happened in the U.S. or that you know these these presidents or the sort of fringe boomer boomer boomer were were all terrible they did some good things

except Trump who hasn't really had done any good things but but the reality is that as a generation

we've had our shot and it's time to turn the page and the best voices that are in American politics now are Gen Z or their millennial and it's just time to move on and you know I wish you know

“Schumer could be forced out I don't think that's going to happen but I think he will be”

edged out I think the power of these other groups will go up as the the way the the Senate is constituted goes up and as the progressive and the next generation caucuses grow and therefore

Brian Schatz is the next guy up who Senator from Hawaii and and he would be a huge improvement

“over Chuck Schumer but I'm you know I'm I'm not expecting that to happen immediately”

I was glad to hear you say you aren't Gen Z because it was starting to feel a little bit like camp David in here yeah thanks thanks very boss calls an hour long live for us I would love to you guys I'm not like you know if it was sort of camp David it would be you saying I was Gen Z and how do I look so young and beautiful and by the way it's just it's just this is natural there's no there's no makeup here at all on like JD and his eyeliner anyway one or two

the impunity of the rich there if they're thought that they don't have to follow the rules the rest of us little people do and that's tied to the corruption in our system it's tied to special interests it's tied to trump the most corrupt president in our history in his cabinet the most corrupt cabinet in our history in the Supreme Court the most supreme court in our history and a system that over the course the past 40 or 50 or since Reagan has grown inequality in the

United States has made uh uh income mobility in our society economic mobility fall has given the edge to our competitors around the world um uh and has increased the power hugely disproportionately corporations and billionaires since citizens united the amount of billionaire money that has

gone into US politics has gone up are you see that 14,000 percent okay so with you know the notion

that we live in a democracy is is is vastly overstated because if you look at the things that the majority of the American people support they's the majority of the American people 70, 80 percent support common sense gun control they support um health care for all they support educational reform they support campaign finance reform they support uh taking care of the environment they support perfectly normal things 70, 80 percent of Americans and yet if you try to do those things in the

United States Congress what happens you lose so what's the point the point is it's not a democracy if the issue supported by a super majority can't even be brought forward because the the veto

“goes to the people with the big bank accounts and that's how our system works and with each passing”

tax code change uh or regulatory cutback and these happen by the way in Demes says well I was in the Clinton administration you know where the ones that pulled back on glass stegle which let the banks go out of control broke Obama took more money from Wall Street than any candidate before him and ran a very kind of neoliberal economic policy if Joe Biden by the way deserves some credit I got some problems with what he didn't do as president but he he did pursue a more enlightened

agenda for average Americans but if you look at the course of the past 40, 50 years what has happened

what has happened is the rich have got more powerful the rest of us have gotten less powerful

the rich have gotten richer the rest of us have gotten less well off we have greater risks we are losing fundamental rights we are losing core programs that support us when we're sick or when we're elderly and so forth and and that's all tied to the fact that it's a corrupt system I've lived in Washington for 30 years and I gotta tell you the corruption it's in the drinking water the system is corrupt and it's time to get new people in here and to recognize that's a problem

and so if you frame Epstein in the context of that the core issue of the election which is our system is rigged against most voters then I think it's a good issue anything else here

politicians are like you know people in any racket and and that is they tend to look at what's working

“and you know I think that's another reason this election is so important if the result of”

this election is next generation candidates do well if candidates that support things like

healthcare for everybody do well if the attacks on people who support those things is being communist don't play well if new media is seen as the way to get forward a new media you know you can manipulate it a hundred different ways I encourage you to look at the latest leg of videos about Trump and they weren't around that are put out by the Iranians which are hilarious and and there's obviously a lot of AI slots there but one thing that new media does is it

also sort of reveals who candidates authentically are it gets them out of of of settings that that old school policy were comfortable in and so if people who are good at these things

“do well then the next election they're gonna say well this is what what all you have to do is look”

back to 2024 when what did we have in 2024 we had you know people after the election going well what the Democrats need to do is to get the Joe Rogan 20 something male voter now that that was complete idiotic bullshit but but that was you know the because the pundits came up with that and then so now then you end up with Graham Platner you know you end up with oh no he'll appeal to the idiots because they're just they're looking for whatever the

hot new thing is and if the hot new thing it you know it's not it's not democratic socialist which everybody is sort of hopping on although I got no problem with democratic socialist we want to I'm most most of the policies they embrace the policies I embrace but when somebody comes up at me it says oh I'm anti these democratic socialist I go really what is it that you oppose which of their policies health care for everybody education reform getting pre-k for everybody

fairer tax code again all of these policies are supported by 78% of the American people you know people are trying to turn it into a wedge but anyway if that's what works

“then that's what politicians are going to be trying and you know I think that's”

that's that's where the power of the progressive movement is going to manifest itself in success so if you believe in that you're going to go out support people you right checks for people you help them you you do the door knocking you win win at the progress at at the at the grassroots level and if that happens that well you know people are going to say oh that's what works and you know

conclude on this one let's just one point the 2020 eight election will be the first election

in US history and with the majority of voters were born post-1990 the majority so that means millennia's in Gen Z they if they were born post-1999 they don't even remember 9/11 they were little tiny kids when that happened what they remember as adults is Trump Netanyahu corruption one crash after another the fragility of American life going from the dot com crash to the 2007 2008 real estate crash to COVID to the rich getting richer

and citizens united to them not being able to afford a house look at the recent polls where the majority of people who are under 40 years old don't think they're going to own a house they don't think it's better for them than their parents they don't think they will outperform

about a lot of trends but that's when we can't change one we can't change is the baton is being passed

whether you like it or not and I just think politicians who can't do the arithmetic

“are going to do badly and I think politicians who don't listen to the emerging majority in the”

United States are going to fail but the good news is I think that if you do listen to them we're going to do better because the ideas are good ideas because taking care of people government taking care of people health care providing pre-k providing food at lower cost filling the pot holes enabling people to take mass transit enabling people to have a decent

life not fearing what will happen when they retire all of those things

are not radical new ideas they were new deal ideas in the 1930s they are core democratic ideas they're core western civilization ideas go to Europe see what these things are they're not even debated they're assumed not just Europe go to Canada go to Japan go to Australia go to New Zealand go to most of the countries in the world we are the outlier and not in a good way but fortunately

“this new generation recognizes that and wants change and that's super positive and that's why”

you don't see I've been like dominating this conversation but but you know having the views and

listening to the views of of of of Riley and Mina and everybody else you know the younger generation

taking instruction from my younger generation daughters is is is is where we really learn so I'm going to there's one there's one that's directed to you guys I like to get to it and then we'll wrap it up it says what's the sense of the younger host no slight to you David I take it as an upfront and I'm offended you know right the level of political awareness of folks in their 20s and 30s so just following up what I'm saying do you think that there's political awareness

and engagement going on here Riley at home in Ohio Mina where you grew up in Florida where you say sometimes you go to Indiana not just here in DC yeah I was actually going to bring up that question because he was so tied to what you were saying and I was thinking when I saw that question about the fact that like me and so many of my friends don't feel like we'll ever be able

“to own a house I think because of what you said the economy and being worried about your”

next paycheck or if you're going to be able to eat and moving from one disaster to the next it feels like it's hard not to be politically engaged or feel like this is the fault of a government that is failing us and wanting a change or wanting more progressive policies and my friends from back home in Florida or relatives that I know in Indiana feel similarly I think there's just like a huge shift amongst young people because what we're doing now is not working and it doesn't matter

who's doing it like if you can't eat you don't care who's in charge you just want it to be different so that you don't have to worry about these things anymore and you can buy a house one day and you you can focus on things that bring you joy instead of just these necessities there's a real struggle going on and I know people everywhere hungry for change especially young people because they don't know any different and they want to know different. What do you think, Broly you're

not quite as young as meta yeah I mean you know speaking anecdotally a lot of my friends from back home who wouldn't I would have described as political a couple years ago are now political and they're not political in favor of Trump quite the opposite you know they all hate Trump even if they are not super engaged they all are anti-Trump you know I had a friend who in college was super anti-politics just thought if you followed politics you were stupid and now he is

hates Trump thinks he's the biggest idiot on the planet and is pretty aggressively pro-democrat and you know I have a friend who in college was conservative but now he's a teacher he's a union organizer and he's an organizer for the working families party so everybody I know not just in DC but you know back home are mobilizing they're getting more political they're getting more engaged and they are getting engaged on the size on the side of progresses and I guess by extent Democrats

although a lot of people I know are not super fond of Democrats either but you know I see a lot of

that's the better option but I think an important thing to note is that there's a huge appetite

for something different something more progressive or at least just something different outside

“of the two parties we have so I think that's going to be an important balance for Democrats to”

strike heading into this election and beyond yeah it's absolutely right and you know you know I believe I live in the DC area as as do meta and Raleigh and you know there are a lot of political consultants here and that will tell you that all you have to do is listen to them and they'll figure that and that you know you can figure out everything in the spin and the comms you know you can

work at all out of the reality as you can't you know you know you you know people see

they live in the real world and and the big enemy of Trump right now is the real world he's failed prices are going up there isn't job creation there isn't growth people you know the universities are under siege they want to shut down the education department they're not getting their healthcare people are losing their Obamacare subsidies they're shutting down veterans administration they're you know people who relied on a school bus to bring their disabled

kid to school it's not there anymore they don't believe the system is fair they don't believe they've got a future in the system you can't you know you can't spin that that's that's not

“something that you know a tweet or a post an Instagram is going to change and that's what's motivating”

people ultimately and no well all American elections are for change this one is for change
