That's code in DSR 26 at the DSR network.com/by. Thank you and enjoy the show. Hello, welcome to the DSR Daily. I'm David Rothkuff, joined by Riley Fester in Minnesota, where to give you a look at the news. Today, which is Thursday, am I right about that, guys? Is it a Thursday?

It is. Thank you. Thank you.

Yeah, at this point in this day and age, we first think we do as we confirm it among ourselves.

Okay, so it's a Thursday. That's a good place to start. Minna, what else do we know?

Justice Department has agreed to pay 1.25 million dollars to Michael Flynn to settle his claim that he was wrongfully prosecuted

over lying about contacts with a Russian official. The settlement marks a reversal of the government's earlier defense of the case, which stemmed from the Robert Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The decision has drawn criticism from Democrats who argue it undermines accountability while the Department describes it as correcting a "historic injustice."

Okay, let me try to think of the right words for this. What a load of corrupt crap.

Okay, this guy committed a crime lasted three weeks in office because of the heinous nature of the crime.

And has now waited for Trump to come back in. And for Trump's Justice Department, the worst named Department of the Mall, less appropriate name, even than the Department of War at this point. And has just cut a, you know, a chat to a Trump supporter from the U.S. government that runs contrary to all the evidence in the case.

There's a word for this. Corruption. This is just the government. Just Trump paying off one of his buddies without a trial. This is an negotiation.

It's disgusting.

And it won't make a lot of news today because there are million other things going on.

But it's disgusting. President Trump warned Iran to finalize a deal to end the four week conflict. Despite Tehran's public stance, the indirect messages if he had Pakistan did not constitute formal negotiations. Washington's 15 point proposal demands the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program and control of the state of Formus while Iran insists on security guarantees and compensation.

Combat intensified on Thursday with Iranian missiles hitting Israel and the Gulf following U.S. Israeli strikes on Iranian residential zones and military commanders. Young going war has paralyzed the state of Formus causing a historic and global energy shock and prompting governments to consider pandemic era economic support measures. I mean, this economy because of this war is in a mess.

And the reality is I was driving just to a meeting just now.

And gasoline was $5 plus for regular at two of the stations I went by here in Washington. And we're just in the early stages because the other thing I heard in the car as I was coming in was Trump talking at this cabinet meeting, which these are all those kind of comical these days. And what was he saying that the people of Iran were sick, that the leaders of Iran were sick, that you know, he said this insane thing that Iran would have had a nuclear weapon within two weeks

Had we not bombed them last year, which is just insane and nothing could be f...

But you know, it sure does look to me from body language, like Trump is planning

to go in and do something involving boots on the ground.

And know that's a bit of a leap because he's stalking about, you know, there's negotiations. But that's my guess. And my guess is it'll happen over the weekend because markets will be closed. You want to hear more about that and those thoughts go to the deep say radio episode we did yesterday. We talk about that at some length and now market timing has been a big factor in guiding what Trump has done.

And even frankly John Bolton, his former national security advisor, when interviewed this week said the same thing.

The Trump looks at how the markets are going to react and tries to time things in a way to minimize

a negative feedback from markets, which actually matters to him.

The U.S. Southern Command said it carried out another lethal kinetic strike on vessel in the Caribbean,

killing four people identified as drug smugglers, a link to designated terrorist organizations. The strike is part of a broader campaign targeting alleged narco terrorist, which has resulted in at least 163 deaths across more than 45 operations since last September. Critics, including international organizations, have condemned the strikes as potential extra judicial killings. Noting the U.S. has provided limited evidence to support its claims about the vessel's activities.

I mean, look, we're just murdering people, Willie Nilly for no reason. I know that sounds like a way of, you know, just sort of shrug it off. It's not shrugging it off, or a way of just saying this is commonplace. It's getting pretty commonplace. This government is lawless.

It goes and attacks people to send a message.

Do process be damned, international law be damned. The United States does not have the right to put to death people outside its borders that its suspects may be doing something it doesn't like. That's not the way the law works. And, you know, these are things that will have repercussions for us for a long long time.

Including God forbid, one other countries start bathing the same way, regarding us. The European Parliament has voted to support a trade deal with the United States that sets terrorists at 15% for most EU goods and exchange for increased European investment in the US and the removal of duties on American industrial products. To protect regional interests lawmakers included strict safeguards such as a sunrise clause that conditions a tariff reductions on US compliance and a provision to suspend the deal if the US threatens a European sovereignty.

Final implementation now depends on the formal sign-off from all 27 EU member states with a concluding vote expected by May to solidify a partnership that oversees a nearly $2 trillion in annual trade. Yeah, it's one of the things that makes the world economy go around and frankly, they were getting that the frankly none of this should happen, right? The tariffs Trump is trying to impose are illegal tariffs. Secondly, when they were moving towards the deal the last time, Trump set a bunch of things about invading Greenland

and so forth and they just pulled away from the deal as they should have because he was threatening that. Now they've said, okay, we'll do a deal, but if you do any of that stuff, we'll pull away from the deal. He's going to do that stuff. I'm telling you, I was listening again to this cabinet meeting today. And one of the things that Trump said quite ominously was NATO has not helped the United States.

We believe that he is for 25 years believed that NATO was a paper tiger that accepted our help but would never help us.

But the implication was he's going to go after that. He's wanted to go after it for a long time. It was blocked in the last term by members of his cabinet who had a little bit more common sense about these things and actually understood how benefits accrued us as a consequence of alliances. But now I'm worried that he's going to use NATO's reluctance to join him in an illegal war in Iran as grounds for weakening the U.S. commitment to NATO.

Whether that would impact this trade deal is unclear in terms the letter of the deal. In terms of the nature of the relationship with Europe, it would be absolutely devastating.

A loss-angeless jury found meta and YouTube negligent for designing addictive...

ordering $6 million in damages while a separate new Mexico case ordered meta to pay $375 million over child safety concerns.

The back-to-back verdicts marked a rare legal setback for major tech companies and could signal weakening protections that have long shielded them from liability. Advocates say the ruling may spark broader industry changes and more lawsuits, though both companies plan to appeal and argue the claims over simplified complex mental health issues. Yeah, look, there's a lot of evidence in support of the claims in support of the fact that not only is this prolonged exposure to addictive activities on these platforms damaging, but that the companies knew about it, ignored it, suppressed it, kept at it.

This is the kind of pattern of behavior that ultimately caused tobacco companies, huge amounts of money and in many, in some cases, effectively their franchises.

There are right now, I believe, something like 3,000 cases pending in this regard.

Imagine if most of those cases come down like these cases did. It's going to be a huge burden on these companies. It is going to have to force their changes in their behavior, and that's a good thing. Because we now know that prolonged exposure to the internet and to a lot of web-based platforms in young people is damaging, damaging an old people too. It's damaging in anybody, spends too much time doing it, is addicted to it, is subjected to bullying on the web, is subjected to misleading information on the web, ultimately sees their mental state change because of their exposure.

And we're not even in the era of AI fully yet when AI can target you and get into understand what triggers you and take advantage of weaknesses in your personality.

I think the whole concept of liability for these kinds of industries is going to change in a big way.

All right, well, coming to you later today, we have a need to know with my friend Jen Welch, who's the host of the, I've had it podcast, very popular podcast. I hope you'll join us for that. We'll be back tomorrow with more of the daily until then, Riley, I see you're geared up for the opening day of the baseball season. A big story, except there was a game yesterday, but the main opening day, your Cincinnati Reds will face the Boston Reds, actually optimistic.

I'm optimistic, I already texted our former colleague Chris Cottonore, who's of course a big Reds Oxfam. So, well, that's what I like to see what he was feeling.

I'm excited. Well, good. And I wish you luck, certainly against the Reds Oxfam as a guy grew up in the Yankee territory. I have to say that.

And men I know you're virulent ball to moral orail fan, right? I love baseball and I've always said that.

So feeling really excited today. Riley, do you believe anything she's saying? No. She doesn't sound particularly enthused. She sure doesn't. All right, everybody. We'll be back with more soon until then. Thanks very much. Bye-bye. But what I want to say is that you don't want to be a real student. You're a master-by-tark, you're a soft-handed, you're a master-by-tark. I'm so sorry, you can say that you're a real hero.

You're a master-by-tark, right?

I'm not sure. It's just a fake news. You're just a real hero. And if you're a real hero, you're a catch-in.

That's right. Save. What do you mean? I'm just a real hero. Now, you're a real hero.
