Hello, and welcome to the DSR Daily. I'm David Rothkopf. I'm joined by Riley Festery and Riley's back from Boston and Minustine. How was lost in Riley? It was wonderful.

What? It was. It was pretty nice.

I saw the Red Sox loose as they often do this season.

That was pretty fun. And I had some lobster. I had some overpriced lobster. It was very nice. Very tasty.

Nice. So you were in New York. Was that fabulous? It was fabulous. And it was also pouring rain the whole time.

So it was a little puddley and misty and wet. Wow. Your worst place is to be wet. That's absolutely true. The worst place we wet is in your socks because I was in DC and it sucked duty.

I really did, the weather was terrible, nothing was going on. And I got to tell you, just sort of to ease our way into the news, there's starting to be pictures in the paper and I encourage people to go look for these. Of them building this sort of thunder dome for the UFC celebration on June 14th, where they're going to be tens of thousands of mega slash wrestling fans on the White House

one, it's so, I don't know, it freaks me out. The fact that this is half, this is as signs of the apocalypse go. You really could have four horsemen riding down from the sky, promising plague and death and pestilence. And it would not be a bigger sign of the apocalypse than what Trump is building by the White

House. They have a wrestling match, fake wrestling match, to celebrate the anniversary of this country. I'm, I, the only one I've raised you guys look very calm at that. At a point where I've just accepted everything and nothing surprises me anymore and I'm

just like in a state of neutrality, because I can't be shocked anymore than I've already been shocked. It's just another Tuesday day, David. I fucking hate Gen Z, you guys have given up, like fight back, that's too hard. Oh my god, well, I hope the rest of you are listening are not going to be pushed over

like this. I wrote something in my sub-stack for Memorial Day. I encourage you to go look at it, because it says fighting back is an act of optimism, because you believe you can change things.

And the only thing that I would offer up to prove my point is to listen to these two losers

here. Oh no, no, no, everything, you know, of course we have a wrestling match at the White House. Of course, Magga will be crawling all over the White House, taking it, don't fall over the White House.

Of course. No, shouldn't be happening that way. Trump this morning, put out as far as I can tell, and I mean, it looked real, it may not be. Don't break my chops if it's not.

But patently put out a social, true social thing that showed the size of the reflecting pool compared to the size of tall buildings. It was just, I don't know, it was just too weird, the guy, I mean, there's a good reason he's going to ask him, because he needs a brain transplant, bad. Do they do that at Walter Reed?

I don't know. You know, we can look into him. I think secretly.

There's a secret room at Walter Reed where they give them a brain transplant.

You know, I'll go ahead and jump to my second story, because you've hit it.

Really? Are present right? Has an exam coming up? Is there a brain transplant? Yeah.

Go ahead. It was a slow news day, so I had to cover that he's having his third visit in 13 months,

Which seems a lot of the ordinary for what is supposed to be a physical exam,...

of his health and fitness, which I'm sure we'll get nothing but the truth about that.

And are you full? Oh, yeah. Because full of vitality in present. No, he's got super vitality.

In fact, basically what he does is he goes to Walter Reed.

They direct take blood from him, and then they give it to other people to act as a kind of a youthening and energizing drug. You get essence to Trump, and it's fantastic.

I was looking at the news letter that the Daily Beast puts out called the swamp, and it

has a story on this right now, and it talks about him going there, and CNN's Kevin Liptack suggested that Trump's advanced age and threats to his life serve as reminders of his mortality. And the White House rapid response team on X response, it. You're an idiot, Kevin Liptack. The threats to his life serve as reminders that radical left lunatics incited by outlets

like gutter trash, keep trying to murder him, and protest works harder in one day than you have in your, I don't know, you guys are laughing at that either. I mean, you're like, oh, yeah, that's the way the White House is supposed to respond. It's not the way the White House is supposed to respond, guys. You don't call CNN reporters idiots for reporting the truth.

I think that's how a president should speak, David.

Let me clarify my something. That doesn't mean I think it's okay, it's like the reason of you foria, like everything shocking, so nothing is shocking, but that doesn't mean that I don't want it to stop immediately. You've been lulled into zombies, okay, get another story. Let's see, let's see if this can get our blood going.

There must be another story, if that was your number two story, there must have been a number one story. Although I'll double up, and I'll do an actually important story. Okay, because I doubt it, but go on. The US has conducted a quote unquote self defense. Air strikes against Iranian missile and mining targets.

Near the straight-of-formers, prompting Iran to claim it subsequently down a US drone. Despite the clash, diplomatic efforts continue as both nations negotiate a potential piece of agreement that includes a six-day ceasefire extension in which, I mean,

you have to have a ceasefire to extend it, and I'm not really sure that we have one,

but they're calling it a ceasefire extension and reopening of the straight. However, progress remains slow and due to communication hurdles with Iran's hidden supreme leader, and significant disagreements over the future of Iran's enriched uranium and nuclear program. Okay, let me try to break this down slowly, because you guys clearly have been partying a weekend, and I just, you know, I just want to help you with it.

Okay, first of all, if a country is an aggressor that started in illegal war, it can't then continue its attacks and call themselves defense. You with me so far, you get that? So calling himself, I mean, this is truly or well-earned double speed. Secondly, over the weekend, it was like, oh, yeah, we got a deal.

And there was a great statement by some bozo on, you know, in the media, it was like, we have the deal, it's 95% down, the only things that have yet to be resolved are what to do with the nuclear materials and what to do about the straight forward. It's like, oh, the deal's 95%

done except for the hard stuff. And the problem is that Trump was about to announce a deal in

which, the straight would get open, Iran would get $25 billion, Iran would have some sanctions lifted. And we would agree to talk about the nuclear stuff for, you know, another 60 days and that could be extended indefinitely. The problem with that, of course, is that's a terrible deal, that's like Iran gets a lot of stuff and we don't gain anything from having fought this war for four months. And that's where we are because Trump has these people on his right in his base, including

John Bolton and some of these other allegedly serious foreign policy types. We're like, hey, this deal is no good if it's not better than the JCPOA, the deal struck by Obama. But guess what,

It's not going to be better than the JCPOA.

that the JCPOA flawed as it is was actually a better deal than he could possibly strike and was

probably actually the best deal, strikeable. And so that's where we are now. And he wants

them to say they're going to take what he calls their nuclear dust and send it off to us. But even in that respect, one of the things being negotiated here is whether they give up highly enriched uranium but maintain the ability to enrich uranium in the future. Trump thinks that by saying to the world Iran has agreed not to produce nuclear weapons that he's able to sell that like its actual progress. But that's been the Iran's position for years and years and years.

It was Iran's position when the JCPOA was being negotiated and has always been Iran's position,

whether it's true or not we can debate, but they have long made at their official state position that they're not pursuing nuclear weapons. So that's not a concession. And getting rid of some of the nuclear enriched material but having the ability to produce more of it is not a big victory for the West. And having the straits open, but on a temporary basis or on a basis where Iran is somehow getting paid directly or indirectly for it and make a mistake if Iran is getting

money returned to it or sanctions relief or having the ability to sell more oil. It's getting paid

for opening the strait. So is this as good as JCPOA? No. Will it ever be as good as JCPOA? No.

Is this as good a position as we were on the day before this illegal war started? No. Is this therefore a big defeat for the US and by extension some kind of a victory for the Iranians? Yes. And that's, you know, that's where we are and it's not going to change dramatically. From over the weekend also went off on a weird tangent where he said that he is it is mandatory for all the other countries of the region to join the Abraham Accords,

including notably the Saudis. But they can't do that if there is no solution in Gaza another place where there is a fake deal. Final point for weeks we've been saying they're going to come up with some solution where the hard stuff gets punted to the future. And so it's not a real solution. It's just

a bandit. That's what we're going to get. It's going to happen this week. I predict and we will come back

and we will start our new DSR podcast which is I told you so. No, I can't because I looked it up and there are actually a lot of podcasts out there called I told you so. But we should we should make that a special feature on our podcast. These states radio, I told you so. Wouldn't that be interesting? Wouldn't that be, would that be interesting or irritating? I'm going to go irritating. I'm not going to comment. Thanks for your support guys. I hope people out there see what

this is. The generational tension in our podcasts in our whole company. It's huge. It's huge. Because they got to go travel for the holiday and I had to stay home. Anyway, go on. Do some other story. All right. I'm going to talk about something that's that you are coming. Something you also don't care about and shrug it off. Okay. My point was to just show how when everything is shocking, nothing become shocking. That's mean you don't care about it or want to change it.

I don't care David. I'm fatigued. Yeah. Really my plan. Oh, yeah. How old are you, man?

I'm 25. And you're fatigued? Look at the life I've had. The experiences of my family. Oh, my gosh. That was an important moment because despite what some people in our comments think were not actually children. We are exactly in our mid-20s. I mean, I guess if you think that's a kid. Anyway, go on. Let's do another story here. Instead of airing our dirty linen. Okay. I'm going to talk about the battle between

incumbent Senator John Kornin and Texas attorney general Ken Paxton. Because Texas voters are voting today. The high stakes runoff stands as the latest, most definitive witness test for President

Trump's grip on their public and party after his late stage endorsement.

trigger its severe concern among establishment GOP leaders. So we will have an update about that.

But that's where we stand now voting today. Okay. The big shocking part of this story is, and this is going to come as a shock to everybody, including I suspect Riley and Minna, which is elections are usually on the Tuesday and it's Tuesday. And it's like, what houses Tuesday, but the week and just end, but it was a three day weekend. And it's very hard to adjust and accept that it's actually Tuesday, but it is. Okay. The other part of this is Trump seeks high and low. He looks for the

worst possible candidates, the worst possible people. Ken Paxton is so bad that even people in the

Republican party realize that by Trump backing him is going to win this primary. And the Democrats

are actually going to have a chance to take the Texas San Jose James Taurico could be the next

senator from Texas. And it's a real possibility. Because let's remember, Paxton was actually

impeached. Paxton is treated his family terribly. He's treated the state terribly. He's been incredibly corrupt. He's an awful person. Of course, Trump likes him. Because those are the kind of traits that gives them something to talk about over cocktails. But prediction here, Paxton wins, makes the odds of the Democrats taking Texas higher, makes the odds of the Democrats actually taking the Senate higher.

That would be a shocker and would be the worst. If that happens, the day after election day just

prepares. Trump's going to be super duper unhappy. As he probably is for a story, I'm betting you guys don't have, which is that federal court blocked the Alabama redistricting plan this morning, one of the many redistricting plans by saying that it was in fact racist. We don't, but that's

great. Well, it's not bad. Any old stories? We've got a little bit more.

Okay, Pope Leo. Oh, I like people's story. No, I was like that, Pope Leo's great. And, you know, I say this is a Jews guy from New Jersey. He's like, you know, he seems like a decent guy. And what's more, he is a master troll of Trump. Well, he issued a sweeping paper and cyclical titled Magnifica Humanitas, warning global leaders to protect human dignity, employment, and social stability from the disruptive risks of AI presented alongside anthropic co-founder,

Christopher Ola to foster dialogue between religion and tech. The document calls for government regulations, work, or retraining and strict human control over AI driven weaponry. He also, in this document, included an unprecedented apology for the Vatican's historical role in slavery,

which was kind of a weird thing to also include this document. So it was a pretty,

pretty big, pretty consequential document that is driving a lot of discussion in political and religious communities. As one would expect from a document written in a dead language. I mean, you know, AI is going to be reading this in Latin and figuring out what it says before, no, I'm just kidding. I'm glad the Pope did this. I'm glad that there is some healthy discussion on this. And for those of you who are like, oh, yeah, AI is just going to go away.

It's not folks. This is an issue that is infested, infected, impacted, changed everything. And I have another prediction for you. In November, candidates who make AI a central issue, from one side or the other, are going to shape the discussion. And even though you may think AI is kind of remote, it will be a central issue in our discussion. We've got a great, still consciousness, which is going to touch upon this. Coming up just later today with Laundra Nelson,

who used to be one of Biden's top advisors on AI is at the Institute for Advanced Studies. Super smart. It's got a new book out. We'll talk to her about the people in cyclical. We'll talk to her about this stuff. If you don't listen to Siliconches in this art podcast, then I have because you think it's abstract, you're making a mistake. This is something that touches your life, whether you want it to or not. And I know you Gen Z. You're like, oh, the God, AI, that's awful.

I'm going to go completely yellow. You can't make it go away, Riley. You can't. I'll try. Yeah. I don't even do. And I know it's possible. Well, I'm thinking machines do. That's where they get their scientific knowledge, folks, because schools too hard.

Okay.

was prepared by ICE officers yesterday during an oversight visit to a federal immigration

detention facility in Newark. The classroom up to it as a crowd of demonstrators gathered outside

of Delaney Hall to support 300 detained migrants who have been staging a hunger strike.

Marks strike to protest poor facility conditions and a lack of due process.

No, he could vote. Look, he's a senator. They knew he was a senator. They shot at him on purpose.

That's where the government is. And that's where we are in May. So as the air develops, folks,

you got to take these little signs and say, where does that mean we will be in the future?

Not good. Won't be good. Some people may shrug and say, well, this is just where the world is. We won't listen to our podcasts. Don't listen just to everybody on our podcast, but listen to our podcast because we are not going to take this sit down. And so listen to our other podcast this week

and come back tomorrow for more of the DSR daily on Wednesday because today's Tuesday. Okay?

All right. Talk to everybody soon. Bye-bye. [Music]
