To the DSR daily, I have David Rothkuff from Joyd by Riley Fessor, menace Stein, we are here to talk about the big news and the big news is, it is Friday. That is good news. Right? We can start with some good news to weekend.

It is kind of summertime. We are just like, aren't we just like a week away from Trump's birthday? How are you guys going to celebrate that?

I don't know. It is a good question. My pride just won't.

Go down to the White House. Light a candle. Can you even go close the White House anymore? I haven't been down there. This administration has heard that it is pretty blocked off nowadays. Yeah, he is a little paranoid. We discussed that yesterday on words matter, with Mary Trump who is not just his niece, she is the psychologist.

That is going to come out this morning in your DSR feed. Don't miss that because I discussed my theory that I think he is a little paranoid and he is afraid of the world.

Anyway, anyway, why don't we get into the news?

Why don't we? The US House of Representatives passed a major bipartisan foreign aid package yesterday delivering its second sweeping legislative review to the Trump administration's foreign policy in less than 24 hours. The 226-195 vote on the Ukraine Support Act saw 18 Republicans cross the aisle to join a unified democratic caucus. The bill's passage directly challenges President Trump's handling of the European conflict and came to the floor of via a rare, monthslong discharge petition that successfully bypassed, staunchly opposed House GOP leadership.

Yeah, look, folks, this is just one of those things that we need to talk about in clear language that we don't talk about, often enough. Donald Trump came into office with the intention of helping Russia beat Ukraine. And everything he has done since then has supported that objective, whereas the Biden administration was pumping billions and billions of dollars into Ukraine, what it needed it. And frankly, as far as I'm concerned, was pumping too little into Ukraine. The Trump administration stopped almost all those flows. The act yesterday was designed in order to get more aid to Ukraine.

Trump honored this act. Will he sign it? Will he act on it? It's unclear because every time he has an opportunity, every time he is forced to make a choice, he makes a choice on behalf of Putin.

That's what led our ambassador to Ukraine to quit. I would point out, by the way, if you want to talk about US standing, that the vast majority of open ambassador of

Ambassadorial appointments that we've got in the world are currently open, because Trump doesn't believe in diplomacy more broadly. Trump, of course, is also undermined the NATO alliance, which is key to the support of Ukraine. And has had a kind of bogus effort led by Steve Whitka to promote negotiations in which he has on a regular basis taken aside of the Russians trying to force Ukrainians into a bad deal. Ukrainians have fought on bravely fought on intrepidly somehow in the midst of all of this made themselves into a leader in drone technology and drone defense technology and gained ground in this war, which, you know,

is given the strong enough hand that yesterday of a lot of mirror Zelensky sent a message to Putin saying, "Let's meet face to face. Let's solve this thing." And he pointed out that Putin has been involved in a war in Ukraine for more than half the time that Putin has been the leader of Russia.

Now, of course, the likelihood that Putin goes to a meeting with Zelensky who...

And in fact, it looks likely that they will lose grain, ground, and the war itself will prove to have been a complete fiasco for Putin.

Maybe that's where Trump got the idea of the Iran War, which has been a complete fiasco for him.

Well, the Senate voted to pass a $70 billion bill funding ice and border patrol for three years officially sending the legislation to the House in a 52 to 47 vote.

Final vote followed intense overnight debates where Republicans narrowly defeated multiple bipartisan amendments aimed at blocking or redirecting a controversial $1.776 billion Trump settlement fund. And the GOP leadership successfully pushed the package through by keeping the focus on immigration despite internal friction and months of democratic blocks.

Yeah, look, I mean, we do need to, you know, check the record here, right?

Trump ran saying we were being invaded that there were millions and millions of the worst of the worst in the United States that they were making life in the United States worse for everybody.

They're going forward. There was no invasion. The people that are being rounded up by the government are tax paying hardworking contributors to our society, something like 5% of them have any kind of criminal record at all, so maybe it's 7% but it's in that range.

And the result is that this is simply a racist effort to read our society of the people that Stephen Miller Trump's architect of all of this fears the most.

And that is brown people. I mean, let's be really clear who are the only people we're letting into this country right now in any numbers at all as refugees.

South Africans who alleged they are somehow being persecuted and that Marco Rubio the other day said we're being led in because they were the ones who had the best chances of assimilating into our society. In the Congress said, why is that Marco son of Cuban immigrants to the United States? Are you saying that only white people have the ability to assimilate into our society into a society that is going to be a majority minority society within just the next 10 or 15 years. Repulsive it is racist, but my main point is the idea that we were in an immigration crisis was vastly overstated and yet here are the congresses which does absolutely nothing otherwise providing more funding that will be abused by these agencies in an effort to suppress vote totals and to lash out against minority group.

That Trump's white Christian nationalist supporters do not support it's it's it's grim it's ugly and it is a signature move by one of the worst congresses we have ever seen in the US. Well, this is all to upbeat. I'm going to bring the mood down with my next story. Thanks a ton. You're welcome. Ice has officially rescinded a Biden era accountability policy that required the agency to track and report the deaths of former detainees occurring within 30 days of their release from federal custody. The abrupt policy reversal executed via an internal memo from acting iced director David Ventorella marks a return to standard agency practice amid immense public scrutiny.

Immigration advocates and federal lawmakers have fiercely condemned the meat move accusing the Trump administration of intentionally blinding the public the compounding human toll of its aggressive immigration crackdown. I mean, you know, sometimes things they do are just so transparent.

That, you know, it's obvious what they're trying to achieve here.

They're transparent and revealing what they're trying to hide. That's paradox. And in this particular case, people are dying at the hands of ice. People are dying as a consequence of their time with ice and they're trying to cover it up.

And, you know, the Congress, which has oversight, should be demanding data to ensure that any government agency is acting in a way that is safe.

I mean, that is consistent with international law that is consistent with domestic law. And that's not ice right now folks. And, you know, that's why you've got a lot of people out there who say ice can't go forward after this administration and has so tainted its reputation.

And I understand the whole, you know, defunding the police, you know, argument that that was not a successful argument.

This is different. Nobody's saying we shouldn't have authorities to protect our borders. They're saying ice as an entity is too tainted, too corrupt, too associated with criminality. And it needs to be erased and we need to go on to something new that is more oriented towards advancing our national interests and doing so in a way that is consistent with the laws of the United States. Well, a name we used to talk about often and haven't discussed in quite a while former international security advisor John Bolton.

I'm surprised that's not part of the deal. He's reached a deal to plead guilty to one count of retaining national defense information and pay a 2.25 million dollar fine.

The agreement resolves an 18 count federal indictment accusing him of mishandling top secret diary like entries from his tenure and transmitting them to relatives of all writing a book.

Which recommends no jail time for the prominent Trump critic is expected to be formally entered at a court hearing on June 26. The bariser is open with their pool of the map that is called Urlaub's. But if the weather is too bad, the pool water is fast. Then the right pool is the right way.

With the pool, the first class pool of the water is a very good product and a very good operation. For the clear pool, the whole summer is very good.

You know, sometimes efforts that appear to be weaponization of the legal process aren't. And this prosecution of John Bolton began in the Biden administration. And so that's a clue all is when both Republican and Democratic administrations are pursuing something. Or frankly, when any administration other than this one was pursuing something, there may be something there. Apparently, according to reports, the abuse of classified documents or mishandling classified documents was far more extensive with Bolton than even is revealed in the final terms of the settlement.

And, you know, he's paying the price for it. Certainly, he would not have agreed to do so and admit to a felony charge. Had there not been a preponderance of evidence that suggests there were other felony charges out there.

You know, these are the crimes to get back to abuse of the processes in this ...

Of which Donald Trump was reasonably accused of 40 violations of. And one of the most outrageous miscarriages of justice associated with the mega takeover of parts of our justice system was justice or Judge Eileen Cannon. Blocking Trump's prosecution for his clear serial big-time violation of our classification rules.

We should never forget that.

Trump used everything that is happening as his in the US government. And that he thinks he should be able to take out classified documents and do with them what they will because he is king. He's not president.

And, you know, I think people are going to have to count the silverware when and if this guy ever leaves the White House.

By the way, another of the revelations that came out of the words matter discussion yesterday with Mary Trump. Was the depressing fact that she asserts that members of her family despite the fact that a lot of them smoke a lot of them drink some of them suffer from dementia live very law lives. Well, she made a reference to an antipers who lived to be 98.

And so, you know, I know that's a kind of a crushing blow to deliver to all of you on the weekend.

But who knows, did you see Donald Trump and yesterday's meeting? Which could be called the weekend at Bernie's meeting? Falling asleep again? Not just falling asleep. I mean, he, he needs to have an aid who stands behind him and like props him up because what happened was he fell asleep and then sort of lurched right word in his chair. So it literally looked like they were having a meeting around a dead person.

And, and nobody, the weird thing is nobody was even looking at him. You know, nobody's like, oh my God, the president's like cocked out. They're like, just literally we're just going to continue to act as though, you know, this guy is going to be 80.

In seven days from today, is that correct? Is it the 12? Seven days from today?

Isn't it? I think it's the 12. Great. He's he's going to be 80. And his clearly, he's winding down. And, you know, he has no business being the president of the United States. And yet, remember Joe Biden, I don't know if you guys remember him, you may be too young. Joe Biden was the president before Donald, do you remember any of this? No, no.

If a name rings a bell, never rings a bell. Yeah. So Joe Biden, you know, did a couple of things when he was president.

And everybody freaked out because he like stumbled over his words despite the fact that he was a lifelong stutterer. Or that he had a bad performance in a debate. And Donald Trump can't stay awake through an entire meeting. And he's not going to many meetings, folks. He's, you know, he's like, kind of out and he's playing golf.

But he can't stay awake. And that's, I think, a huge scandal.

And should be a subject of a lot of discussion, not that I want president JD bands. But what it looks like Riley is done the same thing here. And he's just lurched over to the right. Is he dead? I don't know. Yeah. Are you too old for this job, Riley? Yeah, you need somebody younger to, and I'm sure the people on YouTube complain about us being children will be happy when you hire somebody younger than us. Yeah, we're going to local high school today to say if we can find anybody is younger than you guys.

But men is younger than you. And I didn't notice her lurching over. I had the eternal sunshine of the smallest mind for seizure. So I don't remember Jill Biden. I don't remember what Trump did yesterday. I get it every day. Just clear off the memories. You just, oh, that's really good. Yeah, I think I wish I could do that.

I just like lie awake and bed all night going, oh, my god, I can't believe you did that. Oh, my god, I can't believe that. And I quickly wake up, look at my phone for a sing in the morning. See if he died overnight. And then when he hasn't, I go, fuck, now I've got to go do this podcast. That's kind of the, you want to know what my morning is like, that's my morning. I'm trying to not let it hurt my feelings.

Yeah, no, that's why, why do I come to the podcast that I'm grumpy?

It's because I looked at my phone and, you know, this man is still alive. He's not conscious.

He's not doing anything. He may as well be, you know, in an early stage of rigor mortis.

But, I mean, certainly as administration is. But, you know, according to Mary Trump, I don't have that to look forward to. Well, maybe there's one more story you've got lurking around.

There's one more story. It's looking towards the future beautification of DC that we have to look forward to.

Yeah, the lovely president unveiled his latest architectural vision for the capital

and bouncing plans to construct a massive pedestrian walkway.

And that bridges directly between the walkway and the Lincoln Memorial. The proposed addition joins a sweeping slate of structural overhauls spearheaded by the Trump administration

that are fundamentally reshaping the aesthetic and historical footprint of Washington's monumental core.

However, much like his previous real estate ventures in the city and newly dubbed Trump promenade has immediately ignited a fierce legal and statutory showdown over executive power and federal land use. You know, this is one of the problems with the super rich. People surround them who want a little bit of the action, and so they don't tell them the truth. And so somehow Donald Trump, a man who is devoid of any aesthetic judgment or ties, has been persuaded by the people around him

that he is a master builder and his properties that he's invested in have, you know, made the country more beautiful, made the world more beautiful are deeply desired by people. Despite the fact that they're cheesy, badly built, don't last long, and our eye source in many and many respects. And so here you have this anti-master builder, like this example of America's worst taste, and he's turned into the vandal in chief. He is vandalizing the nation's capital, and not only is he intending to put gold on everything and make everything bigger and make bad judgments.

Let's get rid of the rose garden, let's paint a pavement over with concrete.

Hey, you know that octagon in the backyard, let's leave it up because it's kind of like the Eiffel Tower, right?

Let's tear up the east wing of the historic White House and build the giant glittering ballroom. Put up a 250 foot arch, call it the arch of Trump, and have it overlooking and obscuring Arlington cemetery, the most hallowed ground in Washington, have it be taller than the Lincoln Memorial. Let's fiddle with the reflecting pool, and have it start looking like the pool behind Mara Logo. Paint statues gold, let's now have the Trump promenade by the Lincoln Memorial because the names Trump and Lincoln really need to be used in the same sentence more often.

Every single one of these ideas is a terrible idea. In each case, it's being executed in a way that is terrible. In every case, there is a kind of corruption behind it where Trump cronies are getting cash for defacing the historical legacy of Washington. What I moved to Washington 30 years ago, one of the reasons that I moved to Washington was that it was beautiful. When people come to visit Washington, one of the things they say about Washington is how magnificent all these great marble and limestone, you know, buildings are and how great it is that there's so much green space in the in the center of the city and so forth.

And and and here is this guy who is a one man wrecking crow hue the miley Cyrus music destroying the national architectural legacy of the United States. The only good news on this front also came yesterday surprised you didn't pick up on the story, but a memo was released within the Kennedy Center saying that they actually have to begin to remove the word Trump.

Off of everything associated with the Kennedy Center from the building from t...

Because of course, a lot of what he's doing is illegal a judge said that that was illegal.

Trump is of course responded to this as a patchland third grade or what and it's like, okay, well, if I can't have my name on it, then I'm not going to be involved with it and let all the libertards run art in America.

I don't care about it anymore. I'll run my great concert series. Hello, who's showing up at the con no one's showing up. We don't need a concert series. I'll give a speech. I mean, this decaying decrepit old man who is literally running a criminal enterprise atop our government is also. I learned the management of our capital into a national embarrassment.

And as I wrote in the Daily Beast earlier this week, that's his present for America on his tour on the country's 250th birthday.

It's humiliation. Where we should have had honor, we should have had dignity, we should have restored our faith or revisited the reasons behind the Declaration of Independence. What we have this mad tyrant, this king of tackiness, this criminal, not quite mastermind, this racist piece of shit as a president of the United States, and it literally is the opposite of how you would want to commemorate 250 years of American history. Maybe there's a wake up call in that. Maybe Donald Trump is a warning sign to everybody that this is what happens when the American people do not devote themselves in a thoughtful way to the self governance experiment that was entered into by the founders of the United States.

I noted the other day that there were about 80 million people who voted for Donald Trump and there were another 80 or 90 million people who were eligible to vote who didn't vote.

That means that 160 million Americans are responsible for what's happening here. That's responsible for the defacing of the capital responsible for the criminal outbreak responsible for the racism and the misogyny and the undermining of our institutions and the undermining of our alliances and the wars that are being fought around the world.

It's not just an act of Donald Trump, it's the act of 160 million people who either made a terrible choice by supporting him or who made an even worse choice in many respects by not voting.

So that's you. If the shoe fits where you get a choice in this country and if you don't make a damn quick, expect to this Trump movie to have many, many sequels, that's not something we want to say. Did I say it was Friday at the beginning of this podcast? That's the silver lining. No short term memory. No medium term memory. No memory at all. It's the way to remain happy. Okay, well, look. Have a great weekend and Riley, you and I should remember on Monday morning to remind men that she had a great weekend because she won't remember that sounds good.

Okay, well, and if you haven't listened to the same reading this week, haven't listened to words battery, haven't listened to the daily blast or you haven't listened to need to know we did with bar Mcway to better book, which I thought was really good.

That's a good thing to do over the weekend and we've got to sell consciousness, come and create a little later today and it's on the cheerful subject. What's the cheerful subject of our soul consciousness, can they, Riley?

How AI is destroying all our jobs or entry? So yeah, it's about AI and labor. Yeah, impacts. Yeah, yeah, how AI is destroying entry level jobs in America. Yay. Oh, God. All right, everybody and remember sunscreen and hydrate. It's summer update. All right, bye bye.
