I'm Paul Alex and today we are talking about a fatal flaw that cost founders millions of

dollars at the negotiation table. The need to be right. Because let's be real. If you are willing to blow up a massive, highly profitable deal, just to prove a tiny point and protect your ego, you have zero business sense.

Let's break down how to leave your pride out of the map.

First, realize that winning an argument is not the same as winning the contract.

Too many amateur business owners get deeply offended when a prospect pushes back on a term or questions they're pricing. They immediately get defensive and start fighting for dominance. That is a massive mistake. If you turn a financial negotiation into a battle of alpha personalities, the trust completely disappears. Whether you are dealing with vendors, partners, or huge clients,

emotion is the enemy of the close. If you fight for your pride, you kill the prophet.

Second, focus entirely on the ultimate objective.

People do not secure generational wealth by winning petty debates in boardroom meetings. They secure it by keeping their eyes locked completely on the final outcome. So instead of trying to correct the other person's tone or win a minor point on a contract, let them have the small victory.

Make the ultimate financial payout the only thing you actually care about.

Lastly, a calm negotiator is a dangerous negotiator. When the other side tries to rattle you and you respond with absolute unshakable politeness and hold logic, you command the entire room. High emotional intelligence, strategic silence, and a total lack of ego create a master deal maker. When you drop the need to be right, you secure the right to be rich.

Bottom line, you can either stroke your ego or you can pad your bank account. You cannot do both. Keep your cool, look at the math and sign the deal, because when you do, you will scale more profitably than ever. Thanks for tuning into the level up podcast. I'm Paul Alex reminding you, pride pays absolutely zero dividends.

Focus on the outcome, close the contract, and as always, keep leveling up.
