Hello, and welcome to the nerve at Night.

I am your host, Morin' Callahan.

We have so much to address in the culture and who better to address it with than celebrity

reporter extraordinaire, Rob Schuter. He has got, okay. I was pretty much like kicked off a show last week for talking about this, and it was pretty funny, but Rob's got reporting that backs up everything. I've been saying that we at the nerve have been reporting for weeks now, so we're cool

with every other media outlet playing its safe. We're telling the truth. It is our real talk about fake people and a win tour. She's on the ropes. It's not looking good for her.

We're going to talk about the Metcala and how this decision, quote unquote, decision by

John Galliano, to withdraw because he's a problem. We're going to talk about how that really went down, plus is Taylor Swift already having problems in her marriage? I mean, it was July 4th, that she just got married, I'm out of this square garden. We've got her famous acts, shading her.

It's going to be an incredible segment.

It's so much fun, then we are going to go even deeper on the nerve's cultural, criminal prosecution of the childhood's stardom, celebrity media, industrial complex with two very vivid examples. One of whom is a person who survived childhood stardom and is still a very much a presence in the culture today.

Okay, trouble makers, it is time to ask, are you ready?

Joining us now is celebrity reporter extraordinaire, Rob Shooter, author of the must subscribe, naughty but nice sub-stackin' oh, do we have a ton, a ton to get into, with Rob, welcome back my friend. What a see you good to see you, I look forward to this every week. As do we, we begin with another Rob exclusive guest who we're talking about, the marriage

isn't way worse condition than anyone suspects your source, excuse me, your saucy source, telling naughty but nice, Harry may still be looking for a way back, but Meghan isn't. He's not sitting around wondering how to fix this marriage emotionally, she's already several steps ahead of him, and that is where things could get messy, your insider says Meghan will compromise on plenty of things, looking forward to a potential split, Archie

and Lilabat your source says is not among them anyone imagining she'll smile politely, while Harry takes those children away as completely misread her. She will fight like hell, Rob.

Yeah, this is explosive, so I've been getting this report and I know other re...

have for the last couple of months, I was the first one I think brave enough to actually say it and even I, I'm a pretty bullsey guy, but even I have been sort of holding back on this, so I wanted to make sure it was absolutely accurate, I ended up with three sources, three different people within their world who said it is really bad, one said it is much worse than anybody knows, I've been tiptoeing around this on Substack and you know

when you get to the point when you have enough, you have enough to do it, and so I broke

this story, the response has been amazing since I broke it, even more people have come

forward saying really, absolutely right, including a couple of reporters who have been holding on to this two really good reporters. Are they using the UK by the way or the US, because if I may share a little with you. Sure.

I went on a UK Royals show last week, I'll leave it at that if you want to find it,

you can find it, Rob, when they asked me what I thought was going on and I said, well, this could be the precursor to a divorce, there's a leisurely and another party in the picture. Oh, you can't say that, can't say that, like they caught it out. They were like, no, they, they, one of them was physically like, I wasn't even the

studio on remote, they're like, don't say, okay, and then, and then I, I, I offered my theory, you know, somebody said, well, this is going to look really bad for William, right? And I said, no, it's not. This is William's kind of do anything, which we'll get to in our next item, but they,

they said, well, what do you think? And I said, I think Charles is jealous of William. He's got all of his mother's gifts, goodbye, nice having you. So I ask only because in Britain. Never British.

Yes. So let me explain why. Let me explain why. The royal family run that country still. They really, really do.

And they are terrified of upsetting the royal family. The only place that that sort of happens in America still is people magazine. They are so frightened of upsetting a celebrity, a royal that they won't do it.

The Brits have still this odd weird thing, it's called the Royal Rotor, and you have to

be invited into covering the royal family. So journalists report us, people like us, who break stories here because we're good at our jobs. That isn't how the system is set up in Britain, and it is set up to protect the royals. I've got to say, though, since podcasting, since YouTube, since people like you and I,

have gone out on our own. This is starting to happen in Britain. And there are a few brave, independent reporters who I respect, a great deal, who are starting to say this too, but yes, I've got two reporters in Britain who know this. They know it, and they just can't say it yet because they're so frightened of upsetting

the royals. Now you could say, why do the royals care about Harry and Meghan? They do care because it's still part of the company. It's like me saying, I don't care about the packaging department in Maces, no, it's still Maces.

It's still part of the company, so they don't want these sort of stories out there. But I think now, but just gotta say it as it is, we've got to get our evidence, we've got to get our proof. There is something really weird about this move to Britain. They don't even have a house, they're staying at a friend's house.

Who moves countries unless they're fans somewhere to stay?

So I'm not of the answer, the only way to explain this is this is the last last attempt

to save this marriage, he's miserable, he hates it here, he hates it in California, and so what they've decided, what Meghan's decided, she's the boss, is let's give this a shot. We all know it's not going to work, it didn't work. Six years ago.

He's at their, she's on record as saying, I hate it there, I never want to go back.

We also know Harry is motivated by other factors, including likely the status of his U.S. visa, which was not going to be renewed, everything about this move is hasty. As you said, they don't have a place to live. They're living in a borrowed house on some billionaires, plot of land in the cops walls. Yeah.

And you know, who's just on the street from them and not offering to help that different Ellen to generous? Ellen has a home. Yeah. And they're not staying with Ellen, and so Ellen's a famous house flipper, I mean, she's

deep in the real estate game, they should ask Ellen for advice, honestly, if they're listening to the nerve, a level of no, call Ellen, shoot those good fixer uppers in the car. Ellen's a colleague. I'll take in their calls. I think they've burnt everybody.

And so now they're over there, the marriage is in trouble, it ain't going to get any better. The worst thing you can possibly do if you're trying to fix your marriage is change your

life, is blow up your life, it never fixes it, going to a new location, doesn't make things

better unless you're on the bachelor, that's a good for six weeks. Once you get back into reality, it's not good, it is rough over there.

The cops walls is gorgeous, I've been there many, many times, but it ain't Mo...

It's very easy.

You are, it is very rural, it is very, very spread out.

And when you go to a pub up in the cops wall, it's not like going to a pub in Montecito.

I mean, these are pubs that were built in like the 1600s. They're tiny, they have very low ceilings, everybody knows everybody else, they're not going to take kindly to these two assholes roll up in their SVP, they're very detailed. I've got a great example, so Bruce White, my husband's a songwriter, he wrote Copic Obama with Barry Manlow, he wrote the Barry Manlow song, so we were on tour in Britain once

with Barry, Barry, and he invited me and Bruce to join him and we were driving from one big town to another and we stopped in a little pub in the cops walls and we hadn't had any lunch and the lady behind the counter in the pub was like, hello Barry, we've got no pies left, like the don't care, they don't care, if you were buried that low. Can you close man?

Can you close man? Can you close? Can you close?

She said, maybe we could heat up a pie.

Like that was it, it was just, I love it then, it's not Megan, this is not what she wants, this is not the life she wants and she's got a figure out because the big picture here

is the kids, that's the Achilles heel, that's what gets lots of trouble couples in trouble

or difficult when you break up, if you're too, if you don't have kids, it's just so much easier, they got two kids, what are they going to do with these kids? My prediction, my prediction, this is all laying the groundwork for the separation and divorce, they get enrolled in schools, in excellent schools in the UK, they are there nine months out of the year, they have to stay in the UK if they are going to have any chance

of integrating within the British royal family, which is the only thing Megan cares about is status and money, my opinion, fame, status, money, power, this allows her to go back and forth as she pleases back to America, back to us, wherever she wants to go, then she comes back and she takes the kids for the summer vacation, that's what she'll do, that's it. That's it, they'll have them at Christmas, I'm already told that the success is Megan

says let me rephrase that, I'm told that Megan and the kids are coming back to Monteseeto for Christmas, nobody's mentioning Harry, nobody's mentioning Harry, there is real trouble in this relationship, we've seen it with work with celebrities, royals, our celebrities, Megan's a celebrity, I've worked in that world, I was working with J-Lo and she broke up with Ben, I knew, I was working with Jessica Simpson when she broke up with Nick, I wrote

the breakup statement, I knew all the flags, all the red flags are there and to suddenly change their behavior at the last minute, there's no planning that's got into this, they don't have a house, if you don't have a house, something's going on here, so they rushed to Britain,

I'm told, it never made sense, it must not guide Richie, it was not that she got a part,

it's about the marriage, the marriage is in real real disarray and I'm told, it is worse than what we think. I, okay, this is great, moving on to a daily mail plus exclusive, which I died when I read the sign of the night by Charlotte Griffith's published August 29th, Harry expects an apology, he expects an apology from the royal family, but by the way he's yet to issue

one to the royals, he expects the apology, he hasn't changed a source told the mail on Sunday, runs who caught up with Harry, now these back there, tail between his legs, we're expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility, they were a gong to hear, he still feels angry with members of the royal family, friends who have spoken to him, we're surprised to discover that the record has not changed one bit since 2020, and Ecoswitt

Harry said in an interview in 2023 when he said, "What I really like is some accountability. I'd like an apology to my wife."

It's delusional, it's delusional, this report is spot on, I think friends that I've spoken

to in Britain who knew Harry years ago, he pretty much dumped them all, he didn't move to America and said he didn't text, he didn't email, if you contacted him, he wanted to cut them free, he wanted to start a new life and pretend that the old life didn't exist and now he has been reaching out to some of their friends, then numbers haven't changed, we've still got the same cell phone number we had, 10 years ago, so I've still

got the same email address, AOL, thank you very much for my 30 years ago, and so he's still got the numbers he's been reaching out to them, and they've been very pleasant, they've been welcome back, we'd love to see you, and they thought he would have an epiphany, they thought he would have a moment where he realized what he had done, maybe not a hundred percent, but he's back, so something, no, no, whatsoever, he has come back as angry

As he left, he has come back, some one of the quotes I got was wanting reveng...

not back to make peace, he's not back to have any accountability, he's not back to say

sorry I made a mistake, he's back to prove everybody, I was right, I was right to leave,

and now I'm back and you can all apologize to me, this is why I think he is such a dangerous

actor, I think he's a fundamentally broken person, I really do, and I think this is why it is so imperative that William just remains resolute, no matter the headlines that are going to be coming out in five seconds from now, like William, why does he hold a grudge? Why can't William, especially if those two split up, then Harry's really going to lean into the sad sad card, but he's got nobody, he just wants to come back to the loving arms

of his family, he is a dangerous dangerous guy, he is jealous of his brother to a Shakespearean degree, okay, dangerous, and Charles will not stand up for William here, and William is right, William is right, you, you're a, you're a shy type journalist, you're a shy type me,

other reporters at the Daily Mail, you never shout out yourself, you had the most remarkable story,

remarkable feature about this, that William's going to be scapegoat, William is going to be the one here, it was brilliant, if you haven't read it, everybody really, it's just so brilliantly put together, and the logic of it just makes sense as if you were in a court room, I'll hire you, if I get arrested, I'm going to hire you, more or less, you're making a cultural prosecutor, hey, that's exactly what you are, well this one was your finest hour, William's going to be left

held in the bag here, Harry is slippery, and his dad has no spine, and William is standing up for what's right here, and I want to believe what is right will win, that is an always the case,

that is an always the truth, sometimes the person that's the most skillful in manipulation,

wins, and I think I fear that Harry is doing that again, he's learnt nothing, he's learnt absolutely

nothing, from everything that has happened over the last six years, he has an all the therapy he's had, all that new discovered talk and therapy that the bricks are not good at, I know that they don't embrace it, he has done that, and yet he has discovered absolutely nothing, this is going to be a disaster, the hard part for him though, is that if he wants to keep those kids, if Megan dumps him, all he's going to have left is this family, so he should stop being a little bit nicer.

You know, the other thing is Harry can throw all the tantrums he wants, he can make all the public appearances alone, that he wants or by the king's side, and you know, leaked to the press, who he otherwise hates, the otherwise hates the press, except when they're useful to him. So, when he leaks to the press that his big bad mean older brother, just can't let it go, it doesn't matter, only one of the two of them is going to be king, that's the real problem here,

that's the real issue at the root of everything, only one of them is going to be the king of England, and it's not going to be Harry. Yeah, talk about sibling rivalry, I'm the youngest of five, I get it, I get what it's like to be at a family, if you have brothers and sisters, you get it too, it can be very, very tricky, think that one member of your family is going to be the king of England, just think about that, I'm not trying to get any sympathy here for Harry,

absolutely not, but this is massive, he's going to be the king, you cannot win, and so to go to war with William, there's a nice enough guy, people, you know, he's not a permanent, but all the reports I get on William is that he's either fair, he turns up, and he does the role, and not terribly excited, but you know, he's solid, I'm like William, he's not a lot of Diana in him, he, I think he does, you know, but this is the thing, a smart person, a smart self-aware person, would look at

this and say, you know, there are pluses and minuses to everything in life, and William is going to be restricted in many ways, he was told from birth, this is what you're going to do, and become, I have an easier path of life, I get all the benefits, and I have none of the real responsibility, he's too, he's a fuck-wit, he's a dimwit, he can't figure that out, he shouldn't figure out, this would actually be great, if he figured out, let William do all the boring stuff, I can

read the phone prints, I can't be that kind of, that's what he was, pre-mega, let's see what's

fun, Chris, this is great, I was the drunk prints, he's fully done, he got the William and Kate's wedding with a frozen penis, he's like lubricated with his mother's face cream, he was a laugh-a-minute, he was so bad, I think he could lead, I think it's Megan that's convinced him to be all serious, that it's bad for his image, he's an ambassador, I think, and a lot of people are not going to

Want to hear this, the only chance we have of getting Harry back is when she ...

it's happening, this is a deal, she's going to leave, I mean, she's reportedly, again, according to the Daily Mail, demanding a nine-bedroom estate in which to live that also is outfitted with a film studio for what, I don't know more hostage videos with Harry and a barglowger during a major sporting event, I don't know, but don't have any of the consoles, they don't, they don't,

I mean, they'll get a billion there to build it, but the thing is, you say this rob a lot,

and we get so much pushback from troublemakers, especially in the UK, we're like, you know, the hopes of getting Harry back, they don't want him, they don't want him in any incarnation, they're done with him, they don't want that, that is an element, that is an element of a young boy, we'll can be behind his mother's coffin, and there's something that's going on, I don't think you can play that forever, you can't all have heartbreak, we all have tragedy,

you can't ride that into your middle age, I am sorry, he was not the only one who lost his mother,

right, right, I think you might be right, I'm not totally sure yet, I get it, I know I keep beating

this drum, we'll see, we'll see what's going to happen here, he's not back because he doesn't think he can pull it off, he's convinced, Harry's convinced that he can win the Brit's back, now he'll have to work very hard to see if that is possible, the only chance he has is if she's not there, and she might not be, can be tough to stay on track with a wellness routine, but there is one product that might be of great help, cowboy, collastrum, cowboy collastrum is made from 100%

American grass fed cows and is true, first day, whole collastrum, unlike products that are heavily

processed, cowboy's collastrum is whole, full fat, high in protein and made without artificial flavors or fillers, what stands out is how easy it is to incorporate into your daily routine, a lot of people mix the vanilla flavor into coffee, smoothies or shakes, making it a simple addition to otherwise busy mornings, cowboy collastrum also conducted a clinical study in which 83% of participants reported improved god health, 79% experienced less bloating and inflammation,

72% sought improved digestion and 62% reported fuller thicker hair if you are looking for a new

addition to your fall wellness routine, cowboy collastrum is worth checking out, and for a limited

time, nerve listeners get up to 25% off your entire order, just head to cowboy collastrum.com/moreen and move on to a major major story here in America, major in the world of fashion, major in

the world of media, shifting power struggles, I think this story is larger than what it's about.

On Monday, page 6 broke that John Galliano had pulled out of the Met Gallo 2021 after all the backlash and then he posted a very lengthy statement to Instagram stating that he just didn't want to be a distraction, this is part of it. After much reflection and discussion with all of those involved, I have decided with great sadness that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time. Rob, you and I, again, we've been doing this a long time, we both know what's

really going on, this was a front page story. On in the Sunday edition of the New York Times, A1 below the fold, Fierre builds over Met's plan to honor designer, which by the way was placed directly underneath this story, inside secret girl schools that defied Taliban rules, the times knows what it's doing with this placement. The story within went on to say that major, major donors were threatening to pull out whatever they were planning to

bequeath upon their deaths, priceless artworks that they had loaned and were intending to loan, Jill Cargman who sat on the board resigned. Jill Cargman's father was the CEO of Chanel for many, many, many years. Galliano didn't pull out. Winter was told, you yank this guy or we are

done with you, and Anna is, I think this means Anna's done, I think she's done. I think you're right,

a couple of things here. This is like when you are very important in a job and they don't fire

You, they let you resign.

there's no clean by here, but that's exactly. Over the weekend, there were a ton of calls, my

sources tell me that this decision was really made after that New York Times story ran over the weekend, Friedman, the fashion editor very well respected. Vanessa Friedman. She's got a buy line on that story, and that was it. That was the final, that was the final nail. There also was a meeting an emergency meeting at the Met about this and they called out. And they called out and said,

it's not happening. Now, how you want to handle that is up to you. And so I think Anna and John spoke,

and she gave him the option to withdraw rather than be fired. I actually think it's a mistake. It would have been better for Anna and her legacy if she'd fired him and said, I've made a terrible

terrible mistake. She didn't do that, Ruth. So this morning, he pulled out and it's not about

anti-Semitism. And this is why this story is so big. It's about Monday. The reason Anna buckled was not because any new information was revealed. Everything that was revealed, we already knew. So she knew all that and she still decided to go ahead and her ego and her sense of importance made her believe that she could pull it off. She knew all this and she thought she could pull it off. And it tells you how much her power has diminished because 10, 15 years ago, she might have pulled

this off, not today. Not today. And by the way, those donors and those board members who either resigned threatened to resign with hold money with hold art, they're all Jewish. Most of them are Jewish. And this is about anti-Semitism. And you know, we just did a many over the weekend about Audrey Hepburn, who barely survived World War II. And it goes to show you how the creep of this stuff as embraced like the Met could not afford to embrace this. Anna felt like they could and that

there's no problem here. John Galliano got more than once, more than once, making anti-Semitic

comments. And I think that matters. And that she decided she was going to push this through

with such a black eye. Number two, where the fuck is Chloe Mal? Are you the editor in a Vogue or are you not? Do you have anything to say about this at all? Because your boss is mortally wounded. Now is the time to stand up for what is right. Number three, she's fucked. She can't, she can't honor another designer. She can't because it's going to look like sloppy seconds. So now it's going to have to be some like absdruce meaningless theme. Nobody's going to give us shit about number

four. Do Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos show up now that this has happened? Or are they like, fuck, this is a nuclear cloud who needs this? It's done. Nobody cares. The Kardashians are there. It's a mess. Last year was a mess. And this got even worse. I didn't think we were reporting

on this last year. I think we did a live show. And we were talking about the earlier this year.

No, it was such a, it's a mess. It's absolutely mess. You know, there was some talk even about it getting cancelled, maybe not ever coming back. And then they made it worse. And this is Anna's most vulnerable moment that I've ever, ever, not in the last five years ever seen her in. She's been in

sticky situations before, but her power, her prestige, her allies have always come to her defense.

Nobody. Nobody is touching this. Nobody is saying anything to defend Anna here. And what I find so interesting is that a lot of people are saying this was because of them met. And Anna was barely mentioned in the New York Times story and that seemed him withdrawing. He barely mentioned Anna. This seems to be a dispute between the met and John Galliano. No, Anna is in the center. Yes. Center of this. And just because her name is not being said out loud, it's been whispered.

Everybody knows Anna picked him. The met did not pick him. She runs this. If she is picking the carnations, the flowers on the tables, she's picking the desire. Yes, every year. She works very closely with Andrew Bolton, who is the head of the costume institute, who is married to the designer Tom Brown. Okay. So she works very closely with Andrew Bolton every year. She is deep in the met. I told you that at a press preview for Savage Beauty, the McQueen exhibit, I saw Anna early one morning walking

around in, in, in, ahead of the Met Galla, like days before. And she was examining all those details in granular, granular assessments. So this is it for her. And because this isn't just like a hiccup or oh, she picked the wrong guy. These are the power brokers of New York, fucking city, telling her we're done with this. And you cannot look at her the same way again. In this moment that we're in,

You cannot look at her the same way.

going to be talking about now. This does not go away. I'm told, I'm breaking some new reporting that

we should expect her resignation within the next six months that she's, she's going to have a

John Galliano here where she's going to withdraw. She's not going to get fired. They don't want to do that. But Anna's data are over there. And the magazine is in desperate disarray. Nobody's reading though. Nobody cares who's on the September issue cover. I don't even, oh, it's two young gen X people. No, you know who it is. It's Kaya Gerber and Homer Geer. Okay, daughter of Cindy Crawford, son of Richard Geer. And Chloe Mao is packaging them as kids who just made it on their own.

No. Not neppo spawn like her. Not swimming in the sea of mediocrity, like Chloe Mao. And the same is true. You know, we talked about this on the nerve yesterday. She's, she's in charge really of vanity fair. And she's got Mark Jacobs on the cover of vanity fair. John Galliano's in the back

doing the first questionnaire. She's using that at that publication to wander the reputations of

two failures. You know, Mark is a failure now. John Galliano is designing for Zara. He can't hire it anywhere else. No, you know. But we should have been, and this is Anna's ego. We saw it on a much less level. But it was the same intent when Blake lively turned up at the middle. Yes, we're seeing it with Georgina Chapman, Harvey Weinstein's ex. She knew what Harvey was doing. She benefited. Nobody wore her dresses because they liked them. They wore them because Harvey

bullied them into it. Anna has done this. And she's finally reached too far. It's a bridge too far.

And I'm glad that this has exploded. I'm glad that she's finally going to be have a reckoning here. And I don't know. She's going to survive it. She would have survived this 10 years ago. Her power was still extraordinary. Now, now it's not, and she's also picked the wrong battle. Find the same thing, but people that run New York is stupid. Yes, and to your point, media today is not what it was 10 years ago. She misunderstands profoundly. Power is conferred

by us. We confer the power. And if we're done with you, we're done with you. So good fucking riddance. Okay, Daily Mail plus exclusive Taylor Swift already frustrated in her marriage

to Travis Kelsey, who knew? I mean, as I always say, the bigger the mayor, the bigger the wedding,

the bigger the divorce. From the Daily Mail report, this is a bang or she is frustrated because football is taking up so much of his time. Travis being in trading camp has been she has to go out alone. And not only that, you know, what the problem is, they're not even on the same fucking continent because Swift, the mail reports has been going at a loan and jet setting among Los Angeles, New York, and London. That girl does not really sit still. She has tons of energy

that are inside her. She has to hit parties perform and do interviews without her husband by us that. Okay, Rob, before we get to this, you and I have got to enjoy with the trouble makers, Harry Styles, epically shading Taylor Swift on night three of his Madison Square Garden Residency, Chef's fucking kiss, Harry, Chef's fucking kiss. Here we go. You're on the horizon already. That is delicious. I mean, this just shows you how stupid,

really successful people can be. He's got a job and it's not a job writing songs. He can't just pick up his laptop and travel around. It's not remote. It turns out it's not remote. It's not remote.

And so I think he's probably frustrated too. He didn't need to do this. He didn't need to do another

year and so he wanted to. He wanted him to do this and the consequence of that is that he's stuck in Kansas City. That's just the fact he cannot leave. He can't phone it and you can't zoom a football game. You got to be there. She can work pretty much anyway. When she's writing songs, she can work anywhere. This reminds me of Meghan Markle going to the Commonwealth. Taylor Swift is not moving to Kansas City for a year. Not going to happen. So she's hitting the York. We've seen her

in London. She could move there. She has no concerts lined up. She could take a piano. She could take a guitar and she could write a new album and call it the Kansas City album. She could do that if she wanted to. She doesn't want to. They have extraordinary lives. They have access to all the great parties. She doesn't want to be stuck there and she should have thought about this before

She said I do or before he resigned his contract.

will be challenging for them. I hope they make it, but he's done after this. This is not

happening again. He's locked down for a year and she doesn't want to be there. She's having great time. She's been in New York. We saw her in LA. So she's had him with her friends. It's tricky because there's early months of marriage. Goodness gracious is so difficult, particularly for celebrities. But let's see. Not a good sign. I think she's experiencing the great come-down from the MSG wedding, which I think she thought everybody would just be like, wow, and everybody

was laughing at it. New Yorkers were like, are you fucking kidding? You're jamming up traffic. You're choking off part of the city. Midtown Manhattan. And then it's like, okay, so you don't just have a regular wedding. You get married to Madison Square Garden. How do you go from that to shopping at the local Costco for dinner for your husband when he gets home from training. You don't. She's

like, I want to go shopping and London. Yes. And that's why the Harry Styles joke is so brilliant

because it just sums all that up. She got married to Madison Square Garden. Let's just think of that for a minute. That's a joke. That's ridiculous. That is so tacky. It's so goes. It's a side of

tale that maybe always existed. And she didn't let us see it. Maybe we're seeing that she

doesn't need all this attention. And she needs all this alteration. And she ain't going to find that in times of city. Never forget, Rob, before we move on, the raffle. The raffles that took place after the wedding at Madison Square Garden. And all of the games that were set up so that everybody could play like, you know, knock down the things that you can get a raffle to get maybe you'll win a Chanel bag. What? Well, I mean, we're all Tom Brady. We're leaving early. Okay.

Rob exclusive. A chill in the completely totally authentic and close relationship between

terrible person and Nicole and terrible person Howard Stern. Your headline has there

once friendly relationship, turning nasty and as you write in your exclusive reporting. Andy's radio Andy programming. Now, this is very interesting. This is a call back to last summer. When Howard, uh, there was a big rumor going around that serious was getting ready to axe Howard. And they were going to replace him with Andy Cohen. And Howard came back on the air. After that near Mrs and said, oh, Andy and I were in on that together. We thought it would be a

very funny practical joke. Now it's not a joke. Andy Cohen's radio Andy programming is moving on to

serious sex. I'm channel 101, which used to be Howard's channel. That was Howard's second channel.

So Stern is being cut from one channel. Howard does not find any of this funny. A source tells you, a serious insider tells you. And he was the younger guy. Howard liked and respected. Now that guy

is moving into his house and taking over a room that stinks. It does stay. And Howard's going down.

He's announced. He's figured out a way to have it all and who can't relate. He's going to be working one day a week. One show a week. One show a week. The serious nose. If you produce just new content, one show a week, even if you've got a catalog that goes back decades, people want new shows. And so one show a week is just not enough to stay in two channels. It's just not not a good business move. And so they're looking around and they Andy Cohen is the heir apparent. And Andy Cohen gets

on my nerves as much as everybody else. But this is not his fault here. Yes, he's ambitious. But he's waited. He's paid his dues. He's done that show. This is about Howard. This is Howard. You know, it makes me laugh. Just because you don't want to do the work. Any more Howard, you're perfectly entitled to. You can't expect that you won't be replaced. It's your choice. Like you could decide. I'm just going to work one day a week. If you decide morey, I'm just

going to do the nerve one day a week. What happens the other days? They get to find somebody else. And then the person that comes in is really good at it. You're going to be mad. And so Howard, it's a person who comes in actually does work to put on entertaining original content. It's all you've got a dinosaur who's phoning it in. And won't even talk about the stories of the day. The news of the day because he records at his leisure. Then yeah, you got the best for this.

This, this, this, this, this is karma. You had this come in. Like Andy Cohen, don't like Andy Cohen. The man works his took us off. He puts in the work. He's at serious every day. He's not phoning it in. He's not doing it from the Hamptons. He's not flying in on helicopter. And he's a workhorse. The quality of the work. Not great. But he does, he has it. What he does. The quality of his work

Isn't that great.

He's today. He's today. He's today. It's dark. He's a long time ago.

I'm sorry. He's writing the old coat tails. And he has a right to do that. It's his legacy.

But you can't complain when you decide you don't want to work anymore. And they find somebody else.

That's just, that's, that's going to happen. It's tricky for Howard because this has never happened.

Not in the last 34. He's been the king. There's nobody even come close to him. And suddenly now he's vulnerable. It's the Anna Winter thing. He's vulnerable. And you don't want winter. They don't know when to go. They don't want to go. You go back into the forest with your dignity and you culturally die alone. Just do that. And again, on my team. Stayed boring. Please abide. Be of that. You're best in favor. Yeah. Make me a line in winter. You know what I mean? It's, it's so funny.

Did you, by the way, before we go, did you happen to see what I call the worst persons in the

world convention out down against it last weekend? Or last Wednesday, John Mayer was playing at the Stephen Talkhouse. And everyone showed up. Howard showed up with Beth who was on Instagram eating a cheeseburger in fries. As if John Hamm was there. It was just like the worst. And he was there with the money. Oh, my god. And I don't know if you saw the photos of Andy with his boyfriend. Very local. Very local. You could the sexual crackling chemistry is leaping off my screen. I mean,

this guy can't even shine it on. They look like they were buddies in college. You just happened

running. They look, more we've had more sexual chemistry. First goes by Scott and like we've

had more like there is nothing. There is nothing. There is nothing. It's the oddest photographs.

That was also two a moment because Howard, I was told I had people who were there watching the show. Howard was not great. He was stooped over. He couldn't walk very well. He looked so old like he suddenly got very old looking like overnight overnight. Stooped over. His shoulders were hunched. He didn't have a walk in stick. But he needed a hand and they said inside the venue. He's looking at Andy Cohen doing cartwheels on the stage. And he just realizes it's not my moment

anymore. It must be humiliated to be replaced by a deterrent. Like that's got a stick. Like

all the people. I know. At least if it was somebody with like real talent, you know. Like Howard. Like if it was like shardling me in the god. Okay, you can. You can be like, I've got that track. How's it? How's it? Like yes. That would sting me. I don't know Howard. Like that is a terrible, terrible. Testament. But he also is the truth about where Howard's program now is. It's it's it's it's one day a week. I mean, it's not great. And nobody's listening and they've

shed subscribers and he's not bringing in the revenue anymore. And so if he's going to insist on demanding that he get this huge paycheck for no money, this is what happens. This is what happens. This is what happens. It's so cold. He brought this out himself. It's as hopeful. He did. He did. Rob. As ever, we love you. You're the best. Thank you so much for joining us on the nerve at night. Dev at night. Take care, trouble. Thank you. Coming up. We go deeper on a story that is

Now, with the death of Dolly Parton last week, Hayden Pana Tier's death has sort of been in terms of media coverage. It's kind of been bumped down a little bit, but we at the nerve are going to remain on the childhood, startum,

prosecution that we began, I think we began it long before Hayden. But it made me think of something

that I saw and have seen repeated as if it's a cute story, as if it's a very sweet story. And

I went back and pulled the actual footage of this former child star who is still very much in the cultural mix, retelling this story. And I understand why she may need to think that it's cute, it's not, I think it's very dark. We're going to take a look at Drew Barrymore on her show, talking to her co-stars in E.T., which was released in 1982. So, Harry, sorry, Henry Thomas,

who played her brother, D. Wallace, who played her mother, Mary. That name is not accidental. It's

biblical, and Robert Macnauton, who played Michael. Listen to this story through what we now know

of what's done to child stars and how very few make it out without serious, serious trauma. The literal human carnage of child stardom. Here we go. Now, I believed E.T. was real. Totally. Oh, yeah. It's it. Like, I really, really loved him in such a profound way. Is it like true that what what would happen? 'Cause I would go and take lunch to him. Well, yeah, I joke. Well,

you would, the thing I remember the first thing I remember is that we were on stage and it was

quite cold in the stage, on the stage. And you asked the wardrobe lady if you could have a scarf for E.T. Snack, because he's going to hold. So, you wrapped the scarf around his neck, but D has a great story because- Well, you would go, we found you over there just talking away to E. And so, we let Stephen know. And so, Stephen, from that time on, appointed two guys to keep E.T. alive. So, whenever you came over to talk to him, he could react to you. Now, the way that story is told in front of a

studio audience that is coached to laugh at a plot sounds fairly harmless, but when we go into the real details of what D and Henry are kind of glossing over. Stephen Spielberg realizes that this girl who was maybe five or six when they made this movie thinks E.T. is real. When the cameras aren't rolling, they're they're finding her onset or offset talking to E.T. and telling E.T. her secrets. And she's worried that he's cold and she's getting him scarves and she's sitting

with him at lunch and Spielberg makes sure that there are puppeteers with E.T. all the time so that Drew doesn't figure out, this is a puppet. So that this child

to get into it in this people magazine piece, this re-report from a vulture piece, that this child

home life was a horror show, that this child didn't really have parents, that this child was starved for love and attention, and she thought E.T. was real, because Steven Spielberg duped her, this little child. People magazine Drew Barrymore says her E.T. director Steven Spielberg is the only quote parental figure in her life published June 7th, 2023 by Tom McCartow in a new vulture profile published Monday, Barrymore 48 described the filmmaker as quote the only person in my life to this

day that ever was a parental figure close quote after he cast the then child actress in a

key role for 1982's E.T. the extra terrestrial, the profile goes on to detail some aspects.

Oh, Barrymore was seven during the production. She read as much younger, no surprise. quote, I didn't want to burst the bubble, Spielberg told the outlet, meaning vulture, for the story, noting he made sure to shoot the movie in chronological order, rare for film productions, but that was so the children could accrue the necessary emotion, my aside. As he discussed a moment in which Barrymore asked for the puppet's operators to leave during a

scene, the puppet being E.T. Spielberg opened quote. So I simply said, it's okay, E.T. is so special that E.T. has eight assistants. I'm the director. I only have one. The story recounted the Barrymore would eat lunch with the E.T. puppet during filming and asked Spielberg to be her godfather leading her to stay with the filmmaker during weekends. Now that is the people magazine,

re-report. And as we always do here at the nerve, we went to the source, the original report,

because people magazine could sand down eight off Hitler. So look like a guy who just had some issues. This is what was actually written in the original vulture piece. This is a New York magazine cover story, Drew is on the cover. By E. Alex Young from saying his name correctly, dated June 5, 2023. Drew, I'm reading from the piece, asked Steven Spielberg if he could be her dad. He said no. So she asked if he could be her godfather. He agreed.

She was staying up way past her bedtime, going to places she should have only been hearing about

and living a life at a very tender age that I think robbed her of her childhood.

Spielberg once said of his thoughts on her tumultuous childhood. I felt very helpless because I couldn't because I wasn't excuse me her dad. I could only be kind of a conciliary to her also. Steven Spielberg would yell at her on set for flooding her lines. She was six. Published by David Andrews on movie critic Facebook page more March 12, excuse me, 2025, and I read at one point during filming E.T. the extraterrestrial Drew Barrymore, who was six years old,

was consistently forgetting her lines, annoying director Spielberg to the point where he actually yelled at her. He later found out that she had reported to work with a very high fever. Barrymore, who was young enough to believe that E.T. was real at the time of filming. No, no, no, no. She was manipulated into believing that by her director who she asked to be her father because she was essentially fatherless and he said no. And so she said, "Would you be my godfather?" and he said,

"Yes." And he did this to her because the most important thing was the movie.

Not the mental, emotional, and psychological health of this child. Contrasted to his care. It was young enough to believe that E.T. was real at the time of filming, accidentally found the puppet hidden away where the puppeteers worked. And she demanded an explanation from Spielberg as to who these people were. Wanting to maintain Drew's youthful illusion

Throughout the rest of the shoot.

out of this kid even if it traumatizes her for the rest of her fucking days.

Spielberg quickly explained it away saying they were just there to help E.T. with his language and gestures. Think about that. Think about that lie. Think about that lie. E.T. is an alien Drew. He's a little alien. He doesn't understand English. He doesn't know what our gestures mean. These people, these adults, they're just helping E.T. so that he can communicate with you as you tell him all of your secrets and fears because you're alone in this world.

Let's look at the E.T. death scene. I remember seeing this in a movie theater. I mean,

everyone was fucking crying. Adults were crying. It's traumatic to this day. E.T. dying so that

Elliot can live and a tiny Drew Barrymore looking on, clutching her stuffed animal and when if you don't think that Drew Barrymore in this moment really thinks that her best friend E.T. who is a living creature who loves her is dying before her eyes. I don't know what to tell you. Here we go. That's Steven Spielberg. I got the performance he wanted. You know, you break some eggs. A troublemaker wrote in to remind me of Jackie Cooper.

Child star from the 1930s. At the time he was nominated for an Oscar

for 1931's film Skippy, he was nine years old. Do you know what the title of his autobiography is?

It's called "Please Don't Shoot My Dog." It was published in 1981 and just before coming on with you guys, I ordered it. So it's on its way. So he was nominated at nine years old, which means he shot this movie. They say he was nine. I'm gonna bet he was eight. Just knowing the way film production worked. And again, they don't know the technology that we have now. So he was at best eight years old. I'm going to guess. Jackie Cooper was emotionally manipulated on set,

including being threatened with his dog being killed so that he could cry on screen. Director Norman Taraug told Jackie. He was going to shoot his dog. He's co-star dog. It doesn't ameliorate it. He actually had the dog removed and taken out of Jackie's sightline and then he had a gun fire, a gun shot go off. The kicker here is that Norman was Jackie's uncle. Welcome back to Jackie Cooper in a minute. Then this reminded me of the Jackie Kugen Law. This is a

different Jackie CEO of GAN. Peribus fee report published April 1st, 2026 by Jenna. Is it Geum? I think so.

The headline disturbing child star secrets from old Hollywood that will absolutely crush your soul when he reached adulthood Jackie Kugen discovered that his parents hadn't set up the trust for him that they promised they had. A trust which would have contained all of the money he earned working as a child actor. After his father's death illegal battle ensued with his mother that led to the revelation that all that was left of Jackie's millions of dollars in earnings

was $252,000. Half of which his mother was entitled to due to the conditions of their settlement. Years later, he said all he actually got was $35,000 which included caching in on my life insurance policy. This image of Jackie is photo of Jackie that we're looking at Jackie Kugen. He's around age 9 here holding a bow and arrow taken on the 1924 set of the silent comedy film Little Robinson Crusoe. He grew up to play Uncle Fester on the Adam's family

and in between he had a really really difficult young adulthood. He was broke. He was

Scrouging for money.

Jackie Kugen. When he began working at playing Uncle Fester, he said, "I used to be the most

beautiful child in the world and now I'm a hideous monster." From Collider back to Jackie Cooper,

this was published on March 5th, 2024 by Eliza Wimoraris. I'm saying it correctly again, I hope so. According to the 1987 book, Hollywood anecdotes, Cooper had a total of three crying scenes on

Skippy. When he couldn't cry for the first one, his grandmother, who was accompanying him on the

set with a family, plated with him to just be a good boy and cry already. This didn't work. And so his uncle, the director, Tarog, proceeded to yell at his star, his nephew,

and dressed up another actor in his costume implying that he would get Cooper replaced. As expected,

this got Jackie crying. The worst was yet to come in the second crying scene, Cooper shared the

stage with a dog and when he failed to cry. Tarog had a security guard take the animal from the

set and he told Jackie that the police were going to kill his dog to make it extra believable. He had a gunshot, go off off set as expected. This got tears streaming from nine year old Cooper's eyes. In an excerpt from the book, "Please don't shoot my dog." I mean, these former child stars,

they scream it from the mountains. Published by the L.A. Times as part of Cooper's 2011 obituary,

the actor recalls crying so hard that it became too much for the scene. So now he was crying too much and his director/uncle had a tell him to bring it down. He was overreacting, now you're overreacting. Cooper also laments having lost so much of his childhood working on film sets. And I quote later, people tried to rationalize to me that I had gained more than I lost by being a child star Cooper wrote. But no amount of rationalization, no excuses can make up for

what a kid loses, what I lost. When a normal childhood is abandoned for an early movie career, a ball of child stars, A.I. is here now. Employ, A.I. baby, toddler, child actors, and stop this human carnage that doesn't, that does it for this addition of the nerve at night. If you haven't already, please check out our sub-stack.
