predictions in free-to-place sports contest availability varies by state. College football season. We are in it week zero. A huge win by Florida State. Probably won't spend a ton of time on that, but great time to have a Tallahassee legend. One of the all-time great standing canal. Good friend of the program. Cover three serious 6M with Roy Phil Pot and Brian Kelly joining him weekly this season.
What's up, Danny? What's up, man? Yeah. Thanks for hot spending too much time on the Florida State win versus New Mexico State. But I kind of like, I don't like New Mexico State's quarterback. I did too. He was like, he was crafty and a little shifting.
I'm going to the SMU game Monday night. So I'll actually be there. Rare games just go as a fan, no work, because it's Labor Day Monday. I'll be up there. Bring in my two younger daughters, Courtney's going. She would say, and this is the first time we've ever been to a game together. She doesn't know what she's getting into. So we'll see.
God, it's a great atmosphere. I, I feel bored of state. College football is better on Florida State is really good, but we'll see. See, uh, we're actually for every appearance that you have on the show this season. We've decided to buy you, uh, cast Alano's a hoodie. So from his website, I was looking at it this week. It's still active. The shirts still available.
βSo I think every time you come on, we'll get you the gray one. Perfect.β
What's the short sleeve hoodie? I like that one. The shorts. Yeah, I think we can work on it. So the exercise here is to try to put together a 12 team playoff field. This is,
it's always been the hardest sport because it turned over. And now I think it's never been harder.
Just the assumptions that you're sitting there. And I've been joking with people like every single team, time you read a team preview. The rounding up on every single transfer is like, hey, this transfer is going to be awesome. And this fills the need and all this different stuff. So let's start in the big 10 because it feels like at least on paper, the three teams, you know, how estate Indiana or again are kind of everybody's favorites. Other people pick
and Texas Notre Dame. Maybe even George and all that kind of stuff. But like I would understand if somebody said, hey, I think right now on paper, those three teams are better than an eight top teams in the other conferences. I'd have a hard time arguing it. So go through the big 10 for me. And we'll kind of throw it back and forth here. So I've got in the big 10 Oregon over Ohio states in the big 10 title game with Oregon avenging their regular season loss because they play
in Columbus right in the regular season. I have that as Oregon's only loss on the schedule.
I have them beating them in a rematch and Indianapolis in the big 10 title game.
Oregon versus Ohio State. Okay. So that's big 10 title game or not, I don't game. Okay. So I am
that was probably so when I did my bracket, I cannot help myself because I don't like watching chalk. I've actually got two surprises. Two teams that I have in and one team that I have out and I know everybody's like be careful. Dalton Kirk's a netty like you better watch out for
βyou know, we careful, Dalton, you know, Indiana Hoosiers. I think they're really good.β
I think there are two ways they could be out. Obviously they're 9 and 3. I think they're out, which I don't think is without, you know, out of the realm of possibility. The other thing I think they have to be careful with is if they're 10 and 2, there are other teams that are going to be in this playoff conversation that I think you could possibly see a 9 and 3 team jump a 10 and
a 10 and 2 team. Kirk's in that he's been so vocal about not playing those three non-conference
cupcakes. Their schedule is the toughest that's been in his tenure and I think there's still a lot that they have to replace. Not to mention the number one overall pick and high school trophy winner who did bail them out in a couple games in big spots that I just don't know if I have confidence and whether it's in Joshua or the whole Indiana program that they'll just be right back up there. I think it's a little bit of a setback year for Indiana. So I actually have them missing the playoffs
in my bracket. But if you said, you know what, how dare you do? I'd be totally fine with it. Like, if we're building a bracket together, you said Indiana's got to be in there. I would totally understand that. I just think there might be a little bit of a regression from this team. Yeah, look, I understand it because it's just it's hard to imagine like, hey, you're just going to go back to back and have that same kind of season. And it frustrates me a little bit when people
talk about teams and say, oh, they're going to have their slip up as if 11 and 1 is bad. Like, it's just people people act like 12 and 0 for these top teams is a certainty. And I just don't like when people talk about teams and they're like, oh, they're going to have their slip up. The transfer porta class is kind of loaded though. Like, I like Hoover right now better than I like Mendoza, a year ago. I really like Hoover. They added two more stud receivers.
They burning in turtle richer the running back from BC. They already had a pretty good offensive line. But they added another one from Wisconsin. They're missing some defensive line and stuff. So they loaded up on depth there. They brought in this corner from the SES who everybody said was like the
βbest player in the SES. So I think they're a valuation and what they've done the last two yearsβ
you kind of have to give them the benefit of the doubt. And the fact that apparently whatever segment he does when he brings these guys in there, like they just looked like the smartest football team. So I think Indiana has to be in there. Totally fine with that. Totally get why you would say that too. So, and I think they'll start off 6 and 0 and more, you know, Josh Hoover probably puts up big numbers. I do think the stretch when they have a higher stated home at Michigan, USC, and Washington.
I think people are sleeping a little bit on Washington. I think Washington will be in the playoff conversation now. They finish out at Indiana or Indiana at Oregon. So I don't think they, I don't think they ultimately make it. But I think they could be Indiana as well coached as Indiana is.
The one thing that always gives well coach teams that are so disciplined or mobile quarterback
to the bottom Williams is a very, very dangerous liability. Now clearly Indiana is a better team. This kind of goes back to like just chalk and putting things down and just yep, they're going to go
βwin that game. Seattle's a tough place to play. I think Seattle, I think Washington's going to be a reallyβ
good team. It's across the country. I just think Indiana has several more tests this year than even they've had the last couple years on their schedule where they could falter. But I'm totally okay if we keep Indiana in there. Yeah, the test thing is, I mean, no test two years ago and then failed both tests. Then last year to see what they do against Ohio State and just, you know, I was reading through that again and it's like, hey, they went for the field going forth with one and it's like,
well, they went for the, they went for the field goal because they didn't like running at Indiana's defensive line. A grind day in that group made a decision to be like, we don't think our guys are going to win that one yard. And that was something that was playing out in that game. And it's like, okay, so there's that physicality. And then they put it on Oregon in a way where you're like, oh my god, you know, like, what if this is getting ugly? And then
Miami, you know, was obviously Miami has a chance to even pull that thing off in the last throw with Beck, but Indiana certainly felt like the better football team for three hours. So I know a lot of those pieces are gone. They lose eight players of the NFL draft, which is maybe the craziest thing you'll say about any, like Indiana, oh my god, how are they going to do it again? The Hoosiers lost eight players to the NFL draft. I didn't ever expect to say something like
That.
I feel like Oregon is where Clemson was before they broke through. Like, they were kind of knocking on the door and remember Clemson was a thing. Remember, I was like, oh, they're going to Clemson now their issue was they were falling against bad teams, like, it's kind of surprise upsets and not, you know, not being able to finish games. Oregon is a position where they've been really good through the regular season. They've gotten the part and they've had a couple ugly losses in
βthe playoffs. I think they're the best roster top to bottom and it's way more than just onβ
table more. I think the defensive line is one of the best defensive lines in the country. I get probably the biggest concern for me is losing both coordinators, but for Tosh Nukoi on the defense side of the ball, losing your defensive coordinator, Dan landing is a defensive guy. Like, I feel like they'll be fine. And then on the offensive side of the ball, I think Will Stein was a really good play caller. They're staying in house with Drew Maringer. They're offensive coordinator,
but he's going to have weapons galore. We already saw with DeKorea Moore could do last year as a true freshman. Evan Stewart with Dan landing told us he had, you know, his best off season so far, former five star. I think he could absolutely pop. They've got depth. I just think, I think it's there time. I think it's that time that they break through. The schedule is probably one of the more favorable ones out of all the teams in the top 10. So I think they should be pretty healthy.
So yeah, and I'm gonna believe I like Dante Moore a ton. I think he does take that next step forward in some of their bigger games kind of vanish a little bit. Even I went and watched him in person against Texas Tech and the Orange Bowl started off. You're like, oh, this is the guy I want to see. And he kind of came back to Earth a little bit. It didn't need him as much because they ended up shutting out Texas Tech. Then of course he starts off the Indiana game tough with the pick six to
βDeAngelo Ponds. I think he's going to make big strides forward. So yeah, I've got the or I've got theβ
ducts, the sort of this is sort of their breakthrough here for Dan Land. They feel like they've been
knocking on the door. They just kind of need to break through it. Load it at receiver. There's like three other younger recruits that are all top guys, too, that we're not even talking about between McClellan and Stewart and Moore. You could make some issues with the tackle situation, like somebody's going to have to pop of guys that they brought in. The interior is pretty good. Linebackers, edge guys, tackles, feels like they're fine. They bring in that safety from
Minnesota that everybody's raving about and every single preview that I read about. I'm kind of with you on that. You know, I picked Oregon two years ago and I get into the habit to of trying to figure out a way to be a little bit different with the predictions of this stuff. And there's just times that they've lined up against the big boys, the last couple of years where it's kind of horrifying. You know, whether it's their house, they came from two years ago, you're like, how that you guys
βbeat this team earlier in the year where I think one of the best things about that Ohio Stateβ
game when they lost at Eugene was like you felt so much better about Ohio State's quarterback because you were kind of like, all right, well, even though they lost here and then they go on to win the whole thing. So look, I'm with you. I'm picking Oregon. I'm picking Oregon to be in the title game. I'm top everything else. So we'll see whether or not I picked it when a national championship for a fourth one from four different teams to the big 10. But the running backs are great. I like
more a lot too. I think the coordinator thing is probably more problematic on the Willstein part of it than Tosh be in a cow. But, you know, these teams, the all three of these teams loaded and that brings us to Ohio State because they had 14 players start all, well, let me, let me say that again. Nine of their defensive players, they had such continuity on defense. Nine of the guys have started all 14 games from a Morgana defense. But you go through all the recruiting stuff. You're like, oh,
that guy was a five star edge guy. I can like, who's he? He's he's second in the depth chart right now. Like, I was looking at their depth chart this morning and there's these top recruits from two classes ago. And I'm like, none of these guys are even starters yet. Like, this is ridiculous. So
part of it's a transfer part of it. Ohio State's always going to do well in the portal. And I just
like saying it. I think at one stretch last year, not only did I think he was going to win the Heisman, I thought he was playing like the best. Now, I brought up something with Stanford Steve and then somebody hit me up afterwards. And I'm going to ask you this, it's like, Sam's completion percentage is nuts. And the yards per attempt is actually pretty good. But they were like, look, there's a little bit more than they were saying where it's a depth, a target thing. And it never really felt like
they let him be unleashed because after the Texas game, they just destroyed everybody. They had a really easy stretch for their schedule. Do you think Sam is, like, clearly, there's another level to him. But do you think he's actually capable of looking like the best quarterback in college football this year? I wouldn't predict it. He's got to prove it. So I thought he was close to
perfect, like, from most of the season. But he also, I think he was sack the 11 times over the first
12 games. And then he was sack 12 times in the next two games. And then next two two losses.
Like, because his, the key was executing to perfection, but everything was so...
and I, I want to see how a quarterback plays when he's under directs when he's getting more pressure. And it wasn't like he cost them the game versus Indiana. Wasn't on him. It wasn't like it cost them the games against Miami when they lost in the playoffs. But he was not a difference maker in those
βgames. That to me is where he'll have to step up. And I think Texas is a great challenge for him,β
because that one will be one where I don't think it'll be like last year's game. What was it 14 to seven? And both teams were like protecting their young cubies, making their first start. I think he's got to cut it loose a little bit. My thing is, how does he handle the pressure? And both types of pressure, one, the pressure that comes with a high-state quarterback. But after you've dealt with adversity, people are kind of looking at him. And I want to see how he handles the pressure
on the field when he is facing those more elite defenses. So I thought he, like, no complaints about Julian Sam, but I do think he has to take a step up in that next level when he's getting more pressure on his face, because I do think they're going to face some tougher defenses, including that one on Austin week two. It doesn't matter, but it, you know, Texas out gained him 336 to 203 last year. So it wasn't like, both quarterbacks were very limited in that game.
He ended up having the interception that kind of turns the entire tide of the thing. I didn't necessarily feel like because of the yardage part of it, that the wrong team won. But it was just a slug fest where it was even more of a slug fest, not just because of the defensive talent, because it was pretty clear, both play colors were like, we're going to take it easy on our guy.
There's a saying a number, go ahead. I was going, I want like, I always look for who do you think has,
find some holes in this team. And you mentioned all the losses on defense. That is going to be unbelievable to fill in. So I thought there's a chance that Ohio State could be nine and three, because their schedule was probably one of the toughest in the country. But then you go look in the last time they didn't have nine wins was 2011, you know, and that was sort of an anomaly like they churn out double digit win season. So when is it going to come? You look really foolish trying to
predict that. I also think they could be better on the offensive side of the ball and be just as good as they were last year, but have a worse record. Like there is a watch out for the Iowa game. That one's a sleepy. I had a lot of Ohio State fans making fun of me because I included that as part of like the five games that are really tough for Ohio State playing on the road. There are
βPhil Parker is a great defensive coordinator. I think that's a tricky game on the road at Indiana atβ
USC. I mean, their schedule is absolutely brutal. I think they could make the playoffs at nine and three. I do think we're going to see a nine and three team in the playoffs this year. Texas in Ohio State or probably the two teams. I think on the most likely to be that candidate. But even when I say that, a Husband fans are like, oh, there's no chance we're going to be nine and three. And it is impossible when you look at the history of success. But these schedules are absolutely brutal.
And I think all those teams are improved that they're playing against. Ohio State schedules legitimately tough. I don't know how many more teams like this are going to play Texas or I don't know how many times Texas is going to play in Ohio State. Now with the nine conference games across the board for both of the big conferences in the CCN Big 10. It sucks. And it used to be like one of
those arguing things where you were like, well, why am I arguing? Like, if this team never plays
anybody at a conference, this plays this team, it's kind of the Texas argument a bit last year. It's like, we had just not played Ohio State and decided to play, you know, who ever rice, then then we're in the playoffs. And so it's hard as an AD and a staff to go, there's value in this until you see the committee try to look at things a little bit more open minded. And this isn't an argument that Texas ultimately should have been in the playoffs.
I was fine with how it all played out last year, even though the Notre Dame Miami thing. Just felt like a shitty situation. Really more than it was like I was in fadically in favor of one team over the other. So with the Ohio State part of this, there's a number here on sand. And this may be a little unfair. But if you look at some of the quarterback stuff that happens
and what he's done against powerful ranked teams last year, as opposed to the on ranked teams,
they get it's pretty alarming. Like his QBR against ranked teams two and two, a 59.2 QBR against on ranked power 14s, a 92 QBR. Like he's the numbers there tell you there's a significant dropoff. But you know what, there's a lot of guys that like eat statistically against the eight on ranked P14s and then have, so he is not alone on that. That's not something like, oh, he went saying has to play the big boys. He's completely different guy. Well, the stats will tell you that,
but the stats will also tell you about the same story with so many of these other top quarterbacks. So I don't want to be like entirely unfair even though that dropoff seems significant.
βBut I think that's the, that's the, that's the bar that you have to meet as Ohio State quarterbackβ
because they could be, they could have an incredible season. But if he's two and two against some of these top opponents, they're going to fall short of their expectation, which is a national championship team.
Very clearly, he's capable of leading the team to really good wins, but can't...
him to a national championship? That's what I was talking about, like under pressure, under
the rest against those better defenses, he starts to prove it to me that he can step up in those and those, and those games. It's totally fair. Indiana, though, I'm with you. I didn't leave that game going, oh, saying it's just not the guy. I would say to your point, unlike surviving some of these plays and having to figure out a way to make it happen, there were some stuff against Miami. We're like, okay, so now that this whole thing's disrupted, then there's no
chance of any, like, putting the cape on, like some of the other guys that you expect that, you know, are at this level and highs and favorites, and potentially a national championship. You mentioned, what about USC? So, so I have USC in my playoff. I should go. Yeah, so I'm bullish on USC. I had Michigan too, but like, that's a wild card, so I totally okay if we leave them out.
βBut I have USC as a playoff team. I think Lincoln Riley came into, I talked to him at big 10β
media days. He had sort of a confidence about him, asked him about it and he, this was a swagger, did he have? Yeah, a little swagger. Yeah, he had more confidence that we've seen out of him, being there the last few years, and he was talking about how the continuity across the board, like they just moved into a new practice facility. They have a new athletic director, like there's stability. He's like the amount of returning players that they've got on the team. And that was
before he lost his starting center. So that's a piece that's questioned after that. I think Jade my Ava, so my Ava was my Heisman pick coming into the season, because I think he's outstanding. Really? Yeah, I love it. Yeah, I love them. Very young pieces, which, I mean, I get a little bit of a cheat code now because I saw him play in their first game. But Mark Bowman, the five star tight end is supposed to be, you know, people are comparing him to potentially, to Brock Bowers,
the other kid, the freshman Trent Mosley, who had 118 in a touchdown in their first game, granted San Jose State, he popped. They've got depth that running back. We already knew that was going to be a position of strength. And the question Mark, I would have, like, is the defensive
side of the ball, Lincoln Riley teams have always, let's say they've not been the most physical
βon the defensive side of the ball. I think the Gary Patterson hired a defensive coordinator was big,β
just from somebody who kind of does have that edge, just got a lot of experience. I think their defense is probably better than they're going to get credit for. Even in the game against San Jose State, Lincoln Riley made it clear. Those were third stringers that gave up 23 points in the fourth quarter. I thought it was exactly the performance you would want. You know, some of their tougher games are at home in the Coliseum where I do think it'll be crowded. Those games, if you know,
wasn't, I just humidity was an issue out here. Unreal humidity. Yeah, but even not, I mean, I was, well, we ever really thinking that they were going to be sold out even if it's 70 degrees in sunny minutes. That's the crowd that they halt. Like, why do we still make this a thing? It is what they are. It's kind of like Miami with hurricanes. It'll be sold out when they play against Ohio State, when they play against Oregon at home. Like, if we know that. So like, that's, that is
βwhat they are. But I think they're a really good football team. And I think Jade Miles is pretty specialβ
quarterback. You mentioned Michigan quick, and I got to keep it moving here because it's going to turn into a big 10 preview. I just got, I have to see what underwood. I've got to same on the games before I would have any. I love winning him. I love what they've done with the staff. We expected they're going to just be a brutal out. They're going to be a tough team to play, but underwood was underwhelming, like in a big way. So why I liked them is because he was 11 touchdown nine
interceptions. He was bad. If he just gets to have and they had nine wins on the season, if they get to add a quick quarterback play, which I think Jason Beck is a really good play, Carl, who you utilize his legs some more. That is a big step of faith, though, for me to say that
Bryce Underwood's going to take that step. He's got to prove it first.

only on Netflix Thursday, September 10 at 835 PM Eastern 535 Pacific. Who's one of the SEC? I have, oh, you like this one. I got, I mean, this matchup we've seen before. I've got Georgia
Over Alabama, and yet another matchup.
I love the Keelen Russell move to go ahead and go with the young player over Austin Mac.
βI think he could be really, really special with the turnover on offensive line to go with theβ
freshman QB. Like he must be in considering that the other guy's been, you know, the board's driver. Yeah. Like this, it must be really impressive from Keelen. I think he's all, I mean, clearly he's a runner. I mean, if you see what he did in this game, it's the opposite. I think that element probably could play into this, because if the offensive line is struggling, I think Keelen Russell could be a mix of Jalen, Monroe, and Ty Simpson. Like, and I think
Keel and the war will have an absolute field day work with somebody like that. I think their defense is going to be good. That's another rematch that I've got. I've got Georgia losing in the
regular season at Alabama, and then getting the best of an arena match in the SEC title.
All right. So, bam is offensive line. I am a little worried about. And then again, that's probably what Keelen may get the nod or he might just be that talented. The receiver part of it, I think it's going to be fine. I don't know why Ryan Williams, Ryan Coleman Williams, why he turned into what he did. I mean, he ended up having of like high volume receivers. He had the worst drop rate of anyone. And it also looked like it was the traffic stuff where it's like something going on
with you now, like when you're around this, because you know, anybody that would say like he's no one's Jeremiah Smith, right? But the fact that he was even in the conversation because of the old big plays, the Georgia game, and all that kind of stuff, it's like, you know, you have somebody like that, especially for a young quarterback. So, I don't know what to make of that. I just can't imagine that all of a sudden, like the freshman year was a fluke thing, and he's just shot,
but the drop rate thing is significant. And, you know, I don't know. I guess the offensive line part of it for Alabama, knowing that last year or the reason why they ended up getting destroyed in the playoff. And we could see it coming in a way, because you just go, all right, well, like Ty Simpson, I wasn't even upset with anything with him. And like this guy is he has no chance. And it's kind of funny, because it bookend perfectly with the Florida State game,
whereas he's getting his ass handed to him out there. They have no chance whatsoever. Alabama cannot run the football. And so it's Ty Simpson trying to figure out all this stuff out with a really nice
βreceiving group. So, I guess it's just better. I mean, you're okay with that?β
I think it will be better. Well, has there better? Right. Well, it has to be better. I mean, there were a trotis run in the football. And I do think having a mobile quarterback will make a huge difference. I do. And a lot of me with me in Alabama, like I know, this SEC, the gauntlet is there and it's real. And it's the help. I think their draw is pretty easy. And I include Florida State, who, I mean, that's a revenge game. There'll be a multiple, you know, probably two touchdown
favorite in that game. I had them, and then, so they have Georgia at home, which again, that could be a loss. But I had them beating that one. At Tennessee, they're going to be playing against phase-on brand in a true freshman quarterback. Like, I think they should be able to go into Tennessee and get that win. Texas A&M, probably one of their toughest opponents. But it is at home. I have them losing at LSU as one of their losses. But other than that, that was their only
βblemish. I had for them. Not as foolish, because I think there's going to, I mean, there's going to beβ
some carnage in the SEC. But I still think Alabama, I think they're a team that's going to be just fine.
I'm going to pick Texas. It has a lot to do with the second half for arch, because if you go
from November 1st on, Best QBR and college football, he's somebody else that you could point out to and go, "All right, he ate against some of these other teams," certainly early on to the 10 touchdowns against San Jose and Sam Houston and all that kind of stuff. I think to take backs up that he became a different quarterback. It's another team that you put down on the offensive line part of it. Receiver, I'm good, running back, I'm good, defense, I'm good. I think they have a
couple of guys on that defense that are like my fair players and all the college football. And even with that schedule, I know it's brutal. It's brutal. There's usually a couple of stretches here for some of these SEC teams where you look at like three teams in a month like, "Oh, Miss has a stretch here. You go, Jesus." That's a brutal, brutal four weeks where you're thrilled to just be playing like Masu and no offense to Masu. But I like your Oregon point, I kind of feel like it has
to come together this season for Texas and I wish there was more insightful things to say about it, but it just kind of the way it feels and I don't want to pick Georgia again. So there you go. So I have Texas in the playoffs. I have them going deeper than in a SEC team, but I don't have the SEC title game because of that schedule. Also, I do think there was something I'm a believer in arch, but they were a little inconsistent last year. They just feel like there's a maturity
thing where they're kind of new to this territory of handling this the success that they've got.
I think Oklahoma is going to be your that's a rivalry game.
recently, but I think that's still a really tricky game for them. Add LSU and other tricky one,
at Texan M rivalry game, having to go to college station. So I don't have an SEC title game,
βbut I do I haven't been in Ohio State and I think I think they'll be in pretty safely.β
There's been some rumblings. I don't know if you've seen some of the reports about stuff going on in the locker room. There was a freshman's dad. It was on there saying he was going to expose them. Arch, you know, there's been rumblings that he hasn't been great at practice. I'm not even more at about that. I think that comes with the fact that your Texas, you know, rumors start this world. They get really noisy. I think they'll be fine.
I just think it to me. It was more about the schedule being a little bit harder within conference and Georgia and Alabama, but I haven't been in the class. For six games where Arch, he was 78th in QBR college football. Last six, he was
third in FBS. And I think people wanted to start to give up play calling. I mean, it was such
pan. I mean, there were articles. He was going to be a bust. I'm happy for him. I actually feel way better about him because he played poorly and because they struggled, I feel better about his like mental fortitude and be able to handle some adversity. So how many SEC teams do you have in? Those are my three. That's it. Bama. Bama Georgia and Texas. Where are you with late the lane train down there in Baton Rouge? I got to see it. Now that's
one for me where the roster, it's hard to find many weaknesses. You know, he spent all this money, you bring in lane, but in a sport that requires like culture and continuity. And I know lane did that and he was the portal king. It all missed and he was able to bring it there. Very, very curious
βto see how this thing unfolds. Now I think they could, they could be a national champion. I alsoβ
think they could be 75. Like if they fall short and they have a couple losses early, does the guy start showing up for a check, which I've seen in the NFL when you start to come more professionals. And there's a big question mark for me at Sam Levitt. Not all and it's not just the Liz Frank and coming back from that injury and he misses an entire spring. He was a 61% passer in the big 12. Now he's got to play in the SEC in a system that requires requires you to be very accurate.
Get rid of the football. He's also athletic and his athleticism is going to play a part what lane wants to do and he'll have better town around him. But I'm not sold on Sam Levitt is just going to go out there and light up the SEC. So I think he could have some bumps and bruises on the way that possibly could cost them a game or two. That's fair. He lit up the big 12 historically. Like if you go through his big 12 numbers and then kind of like some of the other
guys, but you take him out of the big 12, there was a drop off in production and that number was rather significant as well. The LSU offense, like going through those numbers, you can ask your co-host Brian Kelly about this. Like the fact that they were, they couldn't run the football in 24. You're like, all right, they'll figure it out and it was even worse. I mean, they were in the hundreds and some of these categories offensively last season and you just go, how could you possibly
the receivers are going to be fine. I don't know what the hell is going on with the running backs because they brought in some studs and it hasn't necessarily happened. The offensive line looks like it's going to be better. They load up on transfers. They're going to apparently grab a
βcouple of NFL guys or try to pull that off too, which I think is gross. But I haveβ
LSU in the playoff over Bama. So there you go. Because everything you said is totally fair. Anyone else, like, what do you do with A&M? Because A&M, I think the skilled guys were good. I think the lines were good. I kind of just make an assumption with LCo and everything like defensively, they're going to be fine. The Marcel Reed thing, I thought his high has been momentum last year was one of the most misguided campaigns just because it was the undefeated SEC ranked team. Hey,
who's the quarterback? Let's do this and he's a lot of fun. But there's some red zone stuff in there that I don't like. And if you go catch a ball of the 16 quarterbacks that are like the guys in the SEC, he threw the 15th most catchable ball out of the 16 quarterbacks of registered, which is exactly what I saw over Saturday. Go back and watch the South Carolina game and you'll
get the full Marcel Reed experience. Because in the first half, he looked like one of the worst
quarterbacks in all of college football. So the second half where he looked like he could be the best quarterback, college football. It is to me for him and it's all about consistency. And I do think they were a little bit of, do you like the team or do you like the schedule and probably like the schedule last season, or than you like the team this year? It's a different story. It isn't much tougher schedule within the SEC conference games that they have to play.
So I don't think there's going to be a mega drop off, but I had them outside the playoffs. It just to me, it was about some of the road games they've got in conference. I think they could suffer a little bit of that. And not to mention Colin Klein, who was like the perfect coordinator for Marcel Reed, similar style of quarterback. He's gone. They stand house with home and wiggins. So I get that there shouldn't be too much change over, but I do wonder how much that could impact
The offensive side of the ball.
Here's my favorite stat. I think I found out the quarterbacks. Chamble is third and long. He's
like the best. Like quarterbacks, third and long. What do you do in this sport? I'm talking college. Because there's just so many schools. Once it's third and seven, it's like all right, we're screwed. And Trinidad Chamble has the best numbers of anyone returning on that stat. It feels like an afterthought after last year's run. Maybe it's just because post-lane and everything, the momentum and all that storyline. People have kind of turned the page on them
up being a playoff contender. I would love for them to be. I'd love to them to be better than LSU. I mean, just from the storyline approach, they still did spend the second most in the SEC, which is kind of crazy. They're not going down without a fight, especially in the spending more.
βThe schedules tougher. Again, a lot of this has to do with the schedule. I think Trinidad Chambleβ
might be one of the best quarterbacks in the country. I don't know if I think they're eight and four, you know, probably around that territory. I just don't view them as being able to run it back with the amount of change over. And they kind of were that perfect storm last year. You kind of galvanized the team that did stay behind. And I know some players that through lane under the bus or even trying to go back and play with them now, which is kind of wild. But yeah, I have to see it
again with Ole Miss. I think Trinidad Chamble's would be really good. The defense I think could be take a step back. So I'm just not to believe it. They're going to run it back real quick on Oklahoma. And I material for me as a wild card, you know, I, he's his jacked up photos are great. I thought last year he was incredibly inconsistent. How much was it due to his thumb and the injury and that with absolutely impact? Not only I thought he was awesome. He was awesome at times. He was really
good. I think if it works for Oklahoma, he kind of has a table like season where he's running for close to eight or nine hundred yards and they're using him to bull those guys. And he's the emotional leader that the teammate loves. They've got a great defense. Obviously, that's going to be a big part of any Brent Venables team. And they feel really good about that aspect. There are another one that has question marks can to run the football. I think they'll be better running the football. But I don't
know, I just, I want to see material keep it together. Stay healthy and be more consistent over 12 games. I'll think that again. I had Michigan in the playoffs in my bracket. So you kind of know where I felt with that game. I think that's a, that game will probably determine it, too. Like, or we believe in a local home or not, they absolutely could win that game. But I did have Michigan win in that one.
βAll right. The ACC, you have to have, I mean, I kind of hate doing this in Notre Dame now,β
but every single previous doing the same thing now, too. We're just putting Notre Dame in the ACC because I've really, I didn't know that. Let's go. Let's get them in there. Then I get some more ammo.
Come on. How many of how many ACC teams are we getting in? Let's start first with Notre Dame though.
You have him in. I assume, right? I do. With Texas Tech Notre Dame and Miami, they're like the three teams that look kind of have good and like in their schedule, it's like, find the losses. You have to, you have to like, lock yourself into like a four interception performance from your quarterback to feel like they don't have a chance. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen. But I do have, I do have Notre Dame and I have them slipping up once. I have 11 and one. I think 10 and two
and there's going to be why you were SMEs. I have losing the Miami. Miami, I have the only undefeated in the college, well, I'll play up as Miami. I have Miami going to South Bend, which is even a stretch. I think BYU is a tricky out for Notre Dame, but I think they can kind of bully them. I do wonder he did lose two guys the first round in the backfield. That is a pretty good asset, but Marcus Freeman, maybe one of my favorite coaches. They have great culture,
schedules there. I don't see, I mean, I look for ways to try to say, how can they not get it done? It's just hard to find it. So I have men as the one lost team and then I have Miami's the only team from the ACCN. Carl was unbelievable against the blitz last year. He was blitzed on 37% of his dropbacks, which was the most of any quarterback. And I think the P4 and he was 14 to on touchdown
interception splits on that. Now, you could also argue after the first two weeks like bad teams
that have no chance are going to blitz you and then it's much easier dealing with those blitz. But I've seen some card numbers you just put it up. You're like, well, hey, first four weeks, it's this. It's like, well, the first two weeks, the guys and played before he's at Miami and he's
βagainst Texas, saying them. And honestly, they come back to lose to Miami week one. I remember youβ
even talking about it specifically. It's like, hey, there's some stuff in there in that second half from this kid. So I think he's that good. I know he's not the dual threat thing that we all want. Maybe that's part of his NFL breakdown and all that kind of stuff, but as far as college with false concern, I just don't see how this team is not in the playoffs. And I think the same is to be said about Miami. I'm right there with you. Like, I like men's up out of the back.
Do you go through their transfer portal stuff? You're like, they're not getting wrong. They're not losing any momentum despite losing the national championship game. I don't know where that loss is.
Right.
I'm saying, massively. You know, like, they play Clemson, right at Clemson. That's one of their
Notre Dame's only right team. They play. Yeah. Right. And this is to like the biggest, the ACC thing. Like Clemson, obviously, one of the most disappointing season they had a really long time. Preseason number four, they finished up seven and six. Even Davo grabbed like 10 guys out of the transfer portal, which I'm assuming we didn't want to do. New offensive coordinator, you still have seven new offensive starters with this group. They lost three guys on defense. The top 15,
the NFL draft picks. Chad Morris comes in, but even Chad Morris. People kind of like, hey, when's the last time this guy's like dialed it up? Was it 10 years ago? When you felt really excited about it? Vazina four star quarterback. There's not a lot on him. Obviously, lit it up against SMU. But the drop off from Miami to then what it's next. Like, you have to
start reap like maybe Louisville because they're controlling a consistent put it together.
Jennings is back at SMU. So there's some other teams that are potentially here, but it just feels like there's such a gap between Miami and whoever would challenge them in this conference. I think there is. I think if you looked at the spending receipts, Miami wouldn't be close to many other teams in the ACC either. I think there's a very real reason for that. I think it's clearly it's SMU Louisville. And I do think I would not have said this a week ago. And I'm kind of
mad at myself for not doing it. Virginia looked really good against NC State. I know it's one game. You don't want to overdo it too. Awesome. I mean, that's a premium NFL quarterback for NC State. And they shut them down. And then if you start looking at their schedule, we kind of go through it. There's not that many tests. They could be favored most of them. But I really think in the similarity
βbetween the big 12 and the ACC is I think the only way there are two bit league is if you see anβ
upset in the title game, which if you get a cold weather game, I know they moved it to day time. So maybe it's not as bad in Charlotte. But or if you get a day where you, you know, fumble a couple times and you get some flukey touchdowns, you could get beat. It's college football. But I really think that's the only recipe for the ACC to get two in. Is if you see an upset in the ACC title game, somebody beats Miami. And same thing with the big 12 with Texas Tech.
So you want to talk about gaps here. Big 12. And you want to talk about schedules. Like we talked our way into a couple Miami challenges. Try to do with Texas Tech. I can't. They play it's impossible. If you look at the projections for Texas Tech, so they're clearly far in a way and they should be, you know, talent wise. And you know, I know they brought in Castellanos. But when Hammond played last year against Utah, he was terrific. So this might just be September insurance for Hammond,
because there's a lot of like hand-wringing about what does this mean for Hammond? I think they're adding depth just in case this guy were to be heard again because then there's a bunch of other pieces there. Now, looking at the schedule, I couldn't believe how bad it was. And I'm just looking at it again. So no BYU, no Utah, no K State. Houston's the only team that they would play. It's like in that tier behind them. They play seven of the 10 worst projected big 12 teams.
Then I can play anybody out of conference on top of everybody else. If they don't win the big 12 and make the play off, this is actually one of the most disappointing scenarios of any program
βin college football. Totally great. The only thing I would disagree with you, and you didn't reallyβ
make a statement on it. I think Casalano's is not an insurance policy. I think he's an offensive weapon. I, because remember, he went to the NFL draft to try to be a receiver. He is not a, I don't think he's has a future at the next level as a quarterback. Clearly, they can use them there, because he's, you know, he's obviously pretty good. I think it's Will Hammond's team, but I think you could draw up some plays for Thomas Casalano's, put him in the backfield wildcat, put him
at receiver in the slot. I think he's just another out offensive weapon for Texas Tech. Yeah, that's totally fair. Yeah. I mean, you're right. I did not look at it that way. I looked at it for the quarterback reasons. Which makes sense as well, because then you get the best of both
worlds. You have, because he's, I don't think he would know the system the first month of the season.
So like by the time you get to October, he feels comfortable there. So you do have that insurance, but I think they'll rank them in as a playmaker, just fight across the board. Joe in the choir now. I don't know if this is blowing smoke up. Oh, this is blowing smoke or what? He did say he thinks this year's defense is better than last year's defense. The other thing, too, man, I am going to lay every point spread that is out there because Joe in the choir was talking about how upset they
were about the way they were treated with the Brendan Sorsby thing, which clearly was Miss Handled, but they kind of, because I was like, how do you get your team? Oh, not to overlook. Sorry,
βopponents. Yes, I think they're going to look to unleash a little bit on most of those teams in theβ
big 12. Remember, everybody was against them. Hey, they like screw them. We're going to lie. I was everywhere against them. I mean, it wasn't like they were really innocent and all this, but they're looking to kind of unleash. So I think it's going to be one of those seasons where we don't know what Texas tech is until we get to the playoff, which is why they're actually one of
The teams.
in the big 12 title last couple of years. I think BYU is kind of physically built for that. They'll
βhave been tested way more than Texas tech in the season. I think Barabokmira makes a big step forwardβ
as a passer to make them a little bit more balanced, bringing back L. J. Martin and Clonicitaki
always has sort of a defense that's physical. And they got pushed around a little bit, but I think
they could. I feel more, it's more convinced you could see somebody clip Texas tech in the big 12 title than even Miami and the ACC. Yeah, Barabokmira will be better. O line is really good. Bring them back four stars from there and 10 of the 16 defensive players who have two or more steps are all coming back. If I know they lost their defensive coordinator here, but I like BYU and I have them in. So it sounds like we actually agree on this. So you have them in the same way.
I do is an upset. No, I do have to. So do you have Texas tech out? No, I have BYU is in at large. Okay, isn't that large? I got you. Yeah, got you. Nice. Anything with you talk here? I think like are we sleeping on them? Maybe. Damped years of what that tough phone for it. You want to talk about like some highs been momentum? Yeah. Yeah. It's be a fun thing to track week to week. Like remember back in week four when
everyone was saying this. And then it kind of got a little tough to watch at times, but I'll give
like another one of my third and long. The other is like, what do you do? Red zone. They were
number one in red zone touchdown percentage. Like that's that's a real thing there. And obviously this is a new world for them in two plus decades of having winning him. They're 21 years. But yeah, I think they're at least worth mentioning maybe more so than K state for me at least. Definitely. And they also, I think the BYU, the Holy War is in Salt Lake. So I think it's At Rice Eccles, which I think it's one of the ones I had a struggle with that pick. They did lose two
first rounders to the NFL draft on the offensive line. And they did lose member. I talked Jason back. I really like him as an offensive play caller gone to Michigan with Kyle wedding camps. I'm a little bit concerned about the ampere, but he's he's pretty special with what he can do. He was really solid. I just, I think there's going to be a little bit of a culture shift. How
βdo you adapt to that? And that's why I'm probably just not as bullish on Utah.β
All right. So if we put it all together then, um, because I know I've like two quick things before I let you go here. So the SEC, we agree on Georgia, Texas. I have LSU. You have Bama. Correct. Yep. Big 10. You have Indiana. You have a USC over Indiana. Yes. And I had Michigan in there, but I could easily be talked out of that. Well, just put them down underneath here. Big 12, you obviously have BYU. If you have one in the title game. Yep.
Then I had to see the second. And I don't, I think that should be a debate, but I don't see how
you punish a team, you know, for the extra game. Okay. So that leaves the group of six, which everyone's pick has been boysy state. You have something different. I put UTSA. Watch out for Owen McCown. I was just talking about outside the box. There went total. I think is eight and a half. Like they surprised a big fan of Jeff Trailer and what he could do. So, but I think North Dakota State is the team we better watch out for as
well. They're going to be favored in every game. They already had a big one over Jacksonville State. You and LV looks a little more beatable. And I think to college, I think college, the selection
βcommittee, they are human. I think they would love a story. You know, going from FCS to FBS?β
So, who do you have is your next, like we have one spot here? For next one out or next one that's in. Next one that's in. If you're doing three from the SEC, three from the big 10, but is Michigan your 12th? Yeah, I had Michigan in. Oh, because you had USC in, right? No, no, I had Indiana. I just went chalk in the big 10. Oh, we got to keep Indiana. Then let's go USC. I'd rather have USC than
Michigan because I'm more of a believer in them. So, you have Indiana in then. Well, yeah, because I want you to, I want to make sure, we're doing collaborative. All right. So, how about this scenario? If Penn State's 11 and 1 in Texas is 9 and 3 in the fourth SEC team, will you argue for Texas? No, but if Penn State is 10 and 2, and they only beat one of those three teams they play, then I think it's very much a real possibility. I do think
a 93. So, I actually had Texas as a 9 and 3 getting in the first time this year in the College Ball Playoff. Okay. I think a 9 and 3 team gets in. There's been way too much noise, but I do think it has to be one of the SEC teams that also plays one of the tougher non-conference games. Like Oklahoma plays Michigan, Bama plays Florida State. They got in last year, even though they lost that
Game, Texas Ohio State, I do think they have to have one of those non-confere...
them get in. I don't know. I mean, comparing at the Penn State schedule, then saying like,
hey, you had to beat Ohio State for me to argue you in. I'm just trying to, I look, I'm just trying to see how to sense it. Well, I think 11 and 1, no matter what, you're, I mean, in the big 10, I wouldn't say that for the ACC or big 12, but I think 11 and 1, you're safe versus any number.
β10 and 2, I think it's where the 10, and that's why I think I'd be okay with it. Like, becauseβ
I think 10 and 2 versus 9 and 3 is realistic to say, you know what, that 9 and 3 should be over the 10 and 2. And it does matter. Like, even Texas last year, if they, if they just didn't lose to Florida, who was an average team last year, they're in. Like you mentioned with the Ohio State, like if the Ohio State loses to Nebraska, and that's one of their three losses, then I don't think they should be in either. But if it's, if there are three losses,
they're really good teams, and they still beat a Texas or a Michigan, they still had really good wins, but their three losses were really good. I'd be okay with that, too. I'm doing exactly what I said I wasn't going to do to keep you this late, but I have to ask you one thing, here. Do you believe the SEC has been neutralized because of the transfer portal?
βI think they've been, I think the conference is better from top to bottom, but I thinkβ
it has hurt their teams at the top. It has hurt their title contenders because they lack the depth that they used to. They, they lack the ability to hoard the talent that they used to. So I think the conference is better and healthier from top to bottom, but they just have lacked the national title contender. It's interesting because I was going through the portal rankings 13 to the top 30 going into 26 or SEC teams. The top three are SEC teams. Five of the top 10
or SEC teams. The ACC has three of the top 30 portal teams. The big 10 has seven of the top 30. If you go through the top portal transfers in the big 12 of the ACC, it's a ton of non-power
four guys. So I think what's happened here is that early days, everybody was like this is amazing.
We can just go get players and boosters and now we can pay and we can do all this kind of stuff. There's turning in first of all for the 26 and who knows what the portal rankings will mean. There's a massive gap between. Mississippi State has a higher transfer portal grade than seven teams in the big 10. Mississippi State has the worst grade in the SEC. So could we have a return to dominance for the conference? I don't know. I don't know who that top team is right now,
but it's very clear that like in the big 12 in the ACC, they're shopping at a completely different
βstore now a couple of years into this a few years into it. I should say. That's why we're onlyβ
talking about one or maybe two from each one of those conferences. Thank you, Dan. That's the reality.
I appreciate it. You got it, man. Always fine. I jumped you there because I know you have to leave.
So I'm sorry. See you. Something big is coming on September 2nd, draft King's Game Day arrives with massive deals, exclusive offers in an all-day celebration built for sports fans. The countdown has begun. All roads lead to game day. The draft King sports app is now live in all 50 states. That means from Texas to California to Florida, every fan is in on the excitement. One app, every sport, all 50 states, draft King's Game Day is yours. Remember
the date. September 2nd, draft King's Game Day is the kickoff of a new season. A new era in the biggest day in sports history. Get pumped. All right. A couple plays for you. One is my own and then the other is off something Danny talked about with his playoff projections here. Texas Tech, minus 200, to make the college football playoffs. So not win the big 12, not advance, just to make the playoff field. I know it's not a cool bet because the value isn't there and all that stuff. But my god,
minus 200, to win the big 12. It's minus 110. So maybe you go that way with it. But I just can't imagine with that schedule. Not only did they play seven of the projected 10 worse teams. The big 12. They're out of conference. All three teams are projected 90, 90th or worse. So if you went through all the 130 plus teams in college football, the three teams that Texas Tech plays outside of the big 12, project to be 90th or worse. So minus 200. Also, USC over eight and a half wins,
market between, I don't know, one minus 136 for this one. We know it's a brutal schedule. So if you're running through it, clearly you're looking at Oregon, Washington Penn State in consecutive weeks with no time off, then they've got Wisconsin who should be much better offense because they couldn't be much worse. And then you finish with Ohio State and a week off in the end. And then Maryland, who actually leads the country, I believe, and continuity rankings from last year. So go you dirty
terms. So over eight and a half on decays play there for you as well. If we can just go ahead and do that
For you.

and then he somehow ended up on the Rams. He'd said he'd gone to college for a year, but was hurt. So there was no tape, and so apparently, you know, a bunch of women fell for this. I really blame the women. I think there's like a bigger conversation than maybe I can get to and like why that happens. I think a lot of times you just want to believe. You just have the truth. Yeah. Yeah, there's been no promises of riches. They just have the juice.
They're not driving their own car. They don't have their own cell phone. They got it. He would do a lot of videos that I see. Like there was some guy that posted some video. He was presenting himself, I guess he is, or said he was a financial planner. This is a different person altogether. And his whole speel was don't play Grand Theft Auto 6, live it.
βAnd he was like, you're wasting your time playing video games. What you need to do is getβ
mansions, get cars, and then he's like, I have guns. I've guns too. He's like, so why live out someone else's reality? Why be a marker for some other, like be your own entity. Don't play the video game, protect role playing, do it for real. So kids out there get yourself some mansions this week. This sounds like the guy that manipulate time was like, you know, 6 a.m. to whatever. That's my first day. Yeah. Like, all right. Okay. You got it now. I'm doing it wrong.
The levels of dislike that I reach when I see these kinds of videos. I just go like who the fuck pays the tech. But the thing is, is some people do like the guy that sells cars and yells at you of your fat. Like everybody walks out to the seminar at like a residence in and he takes off his shirt and the guy's in great shape. And then he brings up somebody who wants to learn how to be better at sales. And he says, take your shirt off. And he's like, you're fat. And these like, yeah, I'm trying.
He's like, well, you're not trying hard enough. It's like, hey, that people sign up for this shit.
βMan, they do it. So you like John ever? Is it that much different?β
Hey, well, tap. Not a negative way. I like. Okay. All right. Yeah. I think there's a tougher element of like, hey, it's a TV show. And this is this is entertainment.
And I think somebody else. You know, I know what you're saying. And I don't always love all
the tougher appeal. Or it's like, what is what is natural. The mains history trains. Yeah. I'm silly. But he has like that great built-in. There's the run at train special. Yeah. We're going to do festivals. Yeah. We're going to do festivals. Yeah. We're like, walks. Being transportable. That speaks to mains community. Yeah. That should drives me crazy. He has the nice built-in thing, though. It's like, there's always going to be a maniac in the kitchen.
Because that's like, I think you have a pretty high, like, you know, the cooks. Not necessarily chef, but cooks. Kind of be a little testing. He's like, right, I'll just go in red face screaming at this guy. We're going to get five good minutes out of this. He can always, he can always fall back on yell at the guy who's super stressed in the kitchen. So that's just like a built-in TV gold. Yeah. I know you love Taffer. So I don't really do. We should just quit while we're ahead.
So our guy to Jean Love, he had a video of him running routes at the beach. He had some other
videos on how to work out. He always had the helmet. Yeah. I just tell him it.
We'd like to say if you had any ball in there, like that guy's fake.
videos where he's in the car and he makes sure that the helmet's kind of in it. There's another video of him in a bedroom in the helmet. It's around. It's fucking crazy that he's constantly just up like this. And like to the women out there are audience, maybe notice. It's not a 50, 50 split.
But it's, it's always like one of those all-time tells is that anybody that's a professional
βathlete would not be wearing his gear out. He doesn't do that. I remember one time one of my buddiesβ
who looked like Mike Timlin and was wearing a red socks hat. And I bartended to this place. The girl so like are you out with Mike Timlin? And then one of the other girls like knew it. She was the season vet. She's like he wouldn't be wearing his hat out. And like I was like, oh no. So three fingers from. Yeah. Right. You right now, you throw a baseball hat on and maybe like a little sort of wig in the back situation. Like, Rodback is right there for you to impersonate. Not a compliment.
Just saying. Hey, I love Rodback. Cut off dinner vests could be a whole different here. All right, P. He died then. Yeah. Wow. He looked at a quick syruity. I kind of kind of dial up. You got over there. Yeah. So these videos, like I don't know, like some people are just so entertained by it. I'm not mad. I hate it. I just hate fraudsters. I hate con artists. I really hate them men that do this because they're just to me. They're just such pieces of shit. I know a lot of people
could be like, oh, the women deserve it. All that kind of stuff. But like, you know, I'm not really here to like take a side or anything because I think there's really only one side. But his videos when he's sitting there and he's like, I've got a $15 million house in Malibu. I'm just about to buy this other mansion. I also have a place in Billionaires' row. I have this. I have that. And then he's talking about his Richard Mill watch. He's like, I this is 700,000 and then he's like, I'm really
good with money. It's like you're really good with money and you spent. Look, the Richard Mill watches
βare sick. They're awesome. 700 grand on one of those. You have to have so much money for that to beβ
any kind of transaction that's probably good. All while you are a practice squad guy that there's no actual proof of other than the AI video that he posted that showed a Google search of him saying that it was he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers, which is hilarious because when he shows that he actually puts it in the video where he's trying to make sure everybody thinks that he's on the team. He's like, that's Google. That's not me. That's Google. Who has to explain like twice that it's
Google other than anybody that would be making up the entire thing. So I don't know that I'm like, I was asking somebody else. If you could have them on the podcast, would you have them on and they were like, yeah, it'd be hilarious. It's a good guess. Because of course you would. That was a meteor. Nice. Steve, Steve was like, yeah, we have them on. I mean, are you guys not? Do you get mad about it? Are you too entertained to get mad? Do you take the side of like,
hey, if you fall for it, that's your fault? You know, I had a close something close to this happened with Mr. David Bloom in the Super Bowl, heist and everything like that where I was like, I was going to show up at the bar if he was going to bring us to the Super Bowl, but I definitely wasn't going to be canceling trips for this. You know what I mean? So I don't know. I kind of smelled something crazy, but you know, the second he asked me for money there, I was going to be like,
no, and so he never did. So that would never ask you for any money. Never asked me for any money.
He probably got a few like rounds from different guys at the bar, but like that was about it.
βThat's what was so confusing about this. But I mean, to the guy in that group that like,β
canceled his gig at the Super Bowl, because he thought he was going, I got to say, I'd pick you might be a little bit stupid for that. That's all. So I'm kind of in the same bokeh. Maybe I just have no heart, and you could just, yeah, I could get been put in that situation before, but there was like one tweet from this girl, and I think this is real, but it was like, she's allegedly one of the people that he scammed, and it was like, she tweeted out, went from dating
these little Bay Area boys to on a date with an NFL player. It's like, how do we see your
sign to never settle? It's got to be fake. And it's like, which player is it? She goes to one of the
best wide receivers in the NFL. I'm just like, I actually don't care. I saw that feeling. I'm going to be honest with you. But I don't care. I don't care. Like at some point, you are being a willing, you're being willingfully ignorant. I think. Yeah, I will say like growing up when I was younger. Like, I did have a couple of pretty boy friends that were like, I can get anything I want. If I just talk to the right people, and it was always girls. It's like, yeah, I got to go pick her up from
work later, and then he doesn't, and you know, I was hanging out with him before, and I'm like, adjacent to this, and I feel bad. He's my friend. I got, I accept his good qualities in bad. But
When I see what he does to the people that he's basically, it's scamming basi...
favors from people that you're in sort of a romantic thing with. I feel bad. It makes me feel
βbit yucky. But like, that's, that's what I've been more exposed to. It's like the guy who's just like,β
she gave me 50 bucks. I ran her car on empty. I forgot to pick her up from work. I'm using her old cell phone. Like, and that feels gross to me. But to me, that's just a shitty boyfriend. Like, but he's not a boyfriend though. He's definitely not. Maybe she's maybe he's got the, maybe he's got the juice to make her think that. But like, that's not the case. So that, that was really more what I've had experience with. My, my levels of like, fraud acceptance are, are, are on
contours, acceptance. Like, if you're scamming like old people on the internet, like, that's to me, it's like some of the lowest of the low. Like, they're, they're like incredibly vulnerable. They don't know. Like, they just don't know. Right. I just kind of feel like a simple Google search would have
solved this problem. Like a simple one. And again, I think there's willingfully willing full ignorance
of these people that want to say they want to do this thing. They want to feel cool. And they don't look at do it at all. And this guy just starts, I don't know. Again, maybe I'm being too cold-hearted. But this is the kind of like, it's not a victim was crime, but it's like, hey, you kind of, you kind of made your own bed in this situation. It feels like people are having a hard time. If he's saying, like, hey, I've got this house over at this house and it even his position was
that like, I have made to call me like, how could you have these houses if you're on the practice squad, which I think there's probably a few people that he would have talked to that would have gone. Because there was some other women that were like, oh, he tried to come at me. Like, and they would send all the text out. And that kind of stuff. And there was this one woman who was like, I have brothers and cousins that play ball. Like, this doesn't make any sense. How was there
not one clip of you ever in college? He was like, oh, because I only had one year at college, but then I was hurt. I'm the goodwill. I think a football. So there's just a record of, just super mysterious. The 90s, this is easy. You want to go out and sound me and say you're hoping to get to call it from the possocks. It works. Okay. But this is, this, the story, obviously, anyone that knew anything about sports and in some of these women were
sharing these, like, I know we tried to come at me. He was trying to get with me. And then they were just going, like, there has to be a clip. There has to be some play. Like, it doesn't
βjust work out this way. And that's how you spread other videos. Like, he's blasting out to theβ
masses going, you know, the whole way of getting involved with the NFL is if it was like some business, like some startup. Like, there's not, you don't just have to get drafted. And he's like, I'm working out with Antonio Brown. I'm working out with Tyre Kille. I'm working out with, it was a Josh Browns, the other one. And then he was like, these are Hall of Famers. These are Hall of Famers. And they were just like, you're nice. He's like, and that's why I was able to get
tryouts. He's like, but I was only going to do it if they were the teams that had a good chance to
win a Super Bowl. Because it's like, I'm not, that's the other thing. Is he, like, basically saying,
I don't really want to do this. I don't want to play football in college. I don't want to play football. I'm so nasty in my workouts. And then he was also 35. I think while you were saying it was 24. I'd say his hips moved a little bit more like he was a guy was 35. But for the guys that are like, hey, look at his, his toe drills. You should have known. Nobody would fucking know. Very few people would ever actually know. The route on the beach is absurd as it looks.
Most people wouldn't actually fucking know. So if you have your whole story down,
βwhich he's cover was that he made all of his money in business. And that's how he met all of theseβ
guys. You could see how somebody that doesn't know anything about sports could probably fall for this on top of hoping that it's true and convincing yourself to fall for it. Because it's like, oh my god, this guy's awesome. Especially when he's talking about shopping, spree, and travel. One woman he was talking to, he was like, I want to come back and start having babies with you or you would. It was very informal. I feel like there needs to be a little bit more planning
to have some kids here. But for lack of a better term, do we know, did he have like a real job too? Like, what did he do something? He's 35. Like, what was he doing for, you know, 15 years of adulthood? I don't know. There was an office guy or something. And he did this thing on the side. Or it works on a family relationship. And it was like, I can kind of figure this out. Yeah, I think there was one stripper that he was talking to that he was mad that he was like,
you didn't spend more time with me. He's like, I'm on my way right now to go buy a Lamborghini. He's like, I know the general manager there. His name is done. Yeah, if you need to look that up, we're done a deal. But on the money front, like, why are you giving this guy money? If he's standing in front of these cars and he's supposedly in these mansions that he's living in it all stuff, I think this is back to, wow. Is it I love you, man? Which movie is it where Steve
would be our guy for that? I think. Joe, but yeah, as a Jason Seagull needs, he needs some money to front something in a church like the whole premise is like, is he actually going to scam Paul did? It was the billboards thing, right? Yeah, but it was real. He was done with the truth. Yes, money time. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You were talking about yesterday because you,
You're in this world more than I am, because my question would be like, if yo...
why are you asking for money and you're kind of like, well, you know, if you do have money,
it doesn't mean you're always liquid and you have the idea. Yeah, I'm like, okay, that does actually,
I guess make sense. But if you're just like, you ask and the people with money for money, you know,
βgood, you have to ask, like, can we have the, I know the hit rate probably wasn't awesome,β
because there's people came forward. Like, how many women account for the 1.3 million? Did he get, did he hit like one jackpot and a couple other supplementals or was he like cruisin? Like, is this, was this like a five? No, I love like 40 people. 1.3 is what's reported. Who knows? Yeah. What is it? Because it would be super impressive if he piece together 1.3 from like, 50 people. That's like, get that guy somewhere where he's, or I mean, yeah, right? I mean,
I don't know. Yeah. No days off. Yeah. But people, and by the way, on the liquid thing, there's nothing younger than when people talk about like, this guy's net worth. And then there's like, why did you need to do this? Do people realize that these guys like Elon Musk doesn't have a fucking checking account with that net worth number? A lot of this stuff is all on paper. And so there are people that are really, really rich that have moments where they need cash to do other things.
And it doesn't mean that they're even remotely poor. I don't know if that's what this guy was doing. I think the probably the easier hack for him or scam for him would be, I have a chance like,
βhey, I did this deal with this last guy. I put in 500,000 if you want to put in like 10β
k or whatever, this is going to go 10x in 12 months and all that stuff. And once you look, I'll admit, too, when I was broke, I remember watching these documentaries or whatever reading about these stories that these guys losing all their money. And I'd be like, oh my God, like, how does that happen? Once you start to learn how like these investments work and you get pitched and then, hey, this fund and this new thing and this is all going to happen and what you have to do is you have
to find somebody that you trust who has like a really good track record. But you can kind of see how it would happen if you're not on top of it at all. If you'd meet somebody who presents themselves to somebody, I mean, think about like all the athletes, but the thing is like the athletes get a bad rap with it because they're famous and then they get kind of like hit with this tag of like they're all collectively stupid and let this thing happen to them. There are plenty of really
smart guys that are rich that have great track records that then link up with like the wrong person for the wrong thing and then they get destroyed at some of these deals. And once you learn kind of how it works, I will admit there are times of like, oh man, like I guess I could see how how this could happen and this feels like in a far more informal way where there's not as much checks and balances. You don't have your own financial advisor doing all this stuff. I imagine
it probably wasn't really that hard for him to get the hopes up of all of these people. If the woman already thinks he's on the fucking 49ers and she's psyched that she's dating an NFL player, she's probably even more susceptible to be like, oh, if I can only give you like 10 grand that you're going to five times it in this amount of time because that's the kind of deal that you did and you've shown me all these props that you have that show this life that you're actually
βnot really living. Like I think it is actually kind of simple if you're determined enough to do thisβ
and that's where it actually does make me mad because I just think that if you're going to be this kind of person to do this to other people because you're such a fucking phony, you're such a fraud.
You just, I don't, there's an entertainment level but I'm never going to come back around,
right? I don't know, like sure they made mistakes and everything but I'm not, I don't really want to victim blame in this one. Like, I mean for the record, I don't think I'm a coloner like this guy's awesome. No, I didn't figure it out by as Jersey, but I somebody has to sell it though. I think the Niners was kind of a smart choice which is just how many different guys you've seen on the field in the last couple of years. Like that was probably probably a good choice. It was good.
It's like, if you had to pick one of the 32, that's probably the front runner. Packers will be a little tougher, smaller community. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, and we'll see what happens here. I can't imagine being on the Niners, imagine being on the team and then seeing this stuff this weekend. I can't, that must have been.
So I was like, it was like, Niners, Niners social team finally got a fun one.
Yeah, yeah, that's stretch. Yeah. Raising Cains is sponsoring PGA Tour Pro Golf or Sam Burns, LSU alum, Louisiana native, and good friend of Raising Cains owner and founder Todd Graves. You may have seen the Cains logo on his collar during tournament this season ahead of the BMW Championship. Sam and Raising Cains hosted kids from first-tea and boys and girls clubs at St. Louis from meet and greet
and golf lessons by Sam himself at a driving range in St. Louis. And of course, Cains Chicken Fingers and Cains Sauce. I can't stop thinking about all those chicken figures we had over the house the other day. I wish I had had more friends from Cosmic Bowling. And you can say, hey, after we do the shoot, we're going to sit here and we're all going to eat all these
Chicken fingers.
I think it's totally fine because my orders, the Cainiac couple extra fingers, you know,
it goes, I like to sell out some of that slough for some extra sauce. Raising Cains Chicken Fingers,
βone love. You want details? Bye. I drove a Ferrari 355 KBLA. What's up?β

βI'm not joking around. I'm not joking around. What's the number of the years old?β
Behind the scenes production guys. I was like, it would be funny if you were somehow able to
get this incredible sweet and you would say by yourself and everybody else had to stay like in the
pleaves and whatever. Yeah, whatever. See, I think that'd be funny. And I think, you know, create some robberies who know as people can be upset with you. But yeah, there's just no way you're doing all that stuff. It does look fun. I'll be honest with you. Like the big blob, you know, launching people off of that couch. It's fun. It looks great. Softball could take it or leave it. But there's some activities that I'd, yeah, I think it would be great. I think you'd be
more interested. I'm more interested in why did you get the ass for the interternet rotational? The golf thing? No, I didn't get the ass for that. I would have done that. But as I said, I think you would be in on that if you got the ass. So if I was invited to that, I would do it. I don't know that I'm like, I don't know. Isn't it like people with millions of followers and stuff that
βyou have to, like, that's a pretty big social media thing. So I don't, I don't know if I'm that guy.β
I think it's a little loose. And he got enough followers. I would say. You're okay. I don't know. But they didn't take much cut out. You were talking. Yeah, we couldn't hear you. It sounded like look like it was going to be good though. You there now. Still don't have you. Yeah, can't, can't hear Kyle. Uh-oh. Sorry. It's been a while since I did that. It was just a big fucking new button. Sorry, guys. I was saying, I don't think we get attached to something like
that unless Ryan does it. And I think Ryan's bar is too high for us to end up doing stuff like that. So, um, you know, maybe a few more clips on the social side to get our presence up. But I think without, without Ryan's attachment. I think we just, we're probably going to stay home for stuff like that. Oh, that's definitely true. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just saying like, I don't, I don't, I don't want anyone of ours will be upset with me about that.
But it was, it was kind of like, hey, we do some of the other stuff. And I was like, yeah, I'll do some of the other stuff. But it was like, maybe the golf, maybe, well, I went to, I think I'm going to go to that coolers twice a year to do stuff. I did like seven things. And I was there when Chicago for the. Come on. You were busy. We're, we're, we're in Bayesian aren't at camp arch store, right? I don't think so. No. So, like, yeah, I don't know. Past a certain age, there's certain sleeping
arrangements that I'm just not doing anymore. Carry on. I think everybody. Yeah, Jerry, what has there's a reason around a lot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So credit to Jerry. They looked exhausted. I'm sure they are. Just exhausted. Would you get along with anyone in like a sleeping chair room situation? Like, who would you? Who would like, like, Kaby? Nick, you like, you can think those guys are funny. I'm trying to think of who, like, you actually, like, funny. I don't know if I
will sleep on school. I don't know. I don't know. I'm trying to think of like, do you that you would like actually not be super bummed to be a roommate with? You and Titus are probably like a loners enough for how it probably is fine. I think it's quietly reading in the book. He might be more loners than I. Yeah. Thank you, right? So yeah, that's the answer, Kyle. If you
Want to do it, I was busy this week and I got our game this weekend.
miss. Oh, whoa. But you could schedule around it if you were at the camp. Yeah.
βYou guys do it every one. You don't have to check with me. I'm okay. I think we're kind of like aβ
package deal and a lot of things. He's like, so okay. Yeah. A little feedback, girl who asked guy to move. You guys missed the most obvious reason that she asked him. She wants a soft way to find out how much money he has. And if he'll say, they'll just pay for movers. I don't think that's it. All right. You're just the most obvious. Okay. This guy wouldn't have been taken by the 49ers guy. That's for sure. I'm sorry, I just hate those eaters. Like you guys talked about it for 12 minutes.
Hit on every. Here's the one thing you did. The conspiracy. We do miss. That's fine. Yeah. We definitely miss stuff. But now I think. All right. All right. Alone in a new city acting like I'm 50 22 years old. Six four 170. Yes, I know I could fill out the frame. No gym stats of no, which should be obvious given the dimensions, but relatively good shape. Had to, it just worked out last Friday, hurt so bad.
hurt the worst of any chess workout I've ever done. And I guess I could share the routine at some point. But I told the trainer at the end, I was like, hey, there's no more reps left. I'm like, it's done. There's no reps. It's all over. And I was like dying as I was done. I was like, it was today even good. And he was like, all work is good work. So, you know, if you're in the gym and it's not going your way, all work is good work. Shout out to Paul. I love that. All right.
Player comp tomorrow to Rose and age 60 playing with his grandchildren, crafty score, who is over indexed on their mid range game to compensate for lack of ability to dribble past anyone. The height usually attracts comp such a stork, Jonas Palmville sap, and it's often unwarranted.
I've been at a law. I've been a long time fan of the show. I never thought that I actually
someday would be one writing in. But here we are. As the subject line notes, I'm in a new city and the East Coast. It's been struggling to find the motivation to be sociable to be a sociable new grad. I know this exact topic has been covered before, but I was wondering what your advice would be for someone who is struggling to find the motivation to hit the bars and enjoy themselves. Part of the problem is that because I'm so early in my career, I'd rather spend most nights working,
you're getting ahead of the week, so I put myself in the best position possible. Even if that means sacrificing the social aspect of my life, what is odd is that I am fairly sociable, person. I'm a fairly sociable person. It would not be considered an introvert, but for whatever reason, I have all the sudden found going out and making friends to be a waste of time despite my better judgment. Any advice on how to get out of this old-person mentality would be great.
βWell, I think there are cycles or whatever, like where you can say, hey, this is all I'm going toβ
do. You want to prioritize work. Maybe at a very, very young age post college for you a 22 to just go, hey, I don't want to do this. I don't want to stay in a crowd of bars and I want to go
through all this stuff and have to go through like the intro and the first ending of like meeting a
girl, which is like the toughest ending and all that kind of stuff. I totally get it, but if you go through the cycle for too long and then you look around, you're 27 and nobody wants to fucking hang out with you and you have not one guy to call on the town that you live in, this will be the origin story of why that happened. So I don't have any, like it's up to you what you want to prioritize, but we get all of these emails all the time from like I'm in a new town and I can't meet anybody. It sounds like
other people are far more motivated. You're just checking out. You already have the answer to the test. You already know why this is happening to you and I would make it simple and I have more thoughts, but before you guys jump in, it would just be just be careful how long you could have in this road, because if you actually do want friends and you want all these different things and by the way, it doesn't just have to be bars, okay, but don't go so long down this. I'm focused on prioritizing
all the career stuff. If the friendship stuff is important for some people, it's just not important. Some people are just like whatever. I don't care. I can have casual friends to the workplace. I don't think people should really go through life that way, but be careful once you start to taste the nectar, the nectar of, I don't know why I said it that way, of isolation, beware is all I can tell you. Let's also what's more important to you is it means girls are meeting dudes. We're assuming
you're a straight man here, right? I don't know if meeting dudes at bars at night time. I don't think that works. Usually they're more pushy shoving at night time. They're not really, hey, what's your name, pal? If that's where you're going to meet women, but it's probably more important to have friends that you will continue with a long time for. I don't know if it's some sort of intermereal things, if you want to get to run, then I want to get one to get to
colder at the local middle school gyms or whatever they do, that stuff on Saturdays. A run club came into the bar the other day. Those people looked a little bit nuts to me, but they seemed like they were having a nice time. They all seemed to be happy. Wait,
βyour time I see someone. But maybe that was just this one. But yeah, I think maybe you shouldβ
prioritize some friends that you could lean on before, like just being like, I haven't had a
Date in a while, because that stuff will come and go, especially it takes lon...
one that you move through life with, but definitely I try to get some, it's a boy to hang out with. And that could that could be seed planted at work. Or again, there's there's all sorts of activities and in your town when you're at the grocery store, take a look at that bulletin board
that you always walk past. Who knows? Well, really, I can't walk off of that. Yeah, I mean,
yeah, I reckon all I don't know if you just posted or into that set of room for rent or bike for sales, like friends, question mark, and then your phone number. You just pull those.
βI bet you're going to do well. I think that's how you get put on a little too well.β
Yeah, yeah. This, this first reminds me of our goat Tom Hardy, he had a great quote about this. He said, being alone for a long period of time is dangerous. It gets affecting once you see how peaceful it is. You don't want to deal with people anymore. And that is true. I've noticed that like working from home, you know, like back in the day, we, you know, we go into a studio and we talk and you'd meet new people and it was collaborative and I do miss parts of that my life.
I mean, like right now it's easier because I'm just, you know, like, you know, take shower, go downstairs and laptop on, we chat a little bit, whatever. And I have to look for excuses to like and having kids does kind of help because I got to pick them up. Take care, we got to the grocery shopping yard of yada. But there's like, it's really easy to just like not go anywhere all day, especially when you don't have anything to do or you don't have any friends that are crushing
you to go out. And that, like, so I, I would to don't fall into that trap because it really kind of is a trap. And as Ryan said, you're going to wake up 10 years from now being like, okay, maybe my life was easier because I didn't have to deal with some bullshit, but I also don't know anybody now and have no true friends. No, it's a bunch with a call bread. Yeah, I'm in the house. Yeah, I let you go. Now, guys, you guys, you've worked up. You look up. Ted, you're like, I let you dead.
Um, starting to name it up. But I would echo the thing too. Like, it sounds like he's a jansy guy. He's fresh out of school where he said, so like, those people aren't drinking.
βYeah, so you might as well like find some activities. Like, is there like a, do you like, I don't know?β
Yeah, do you like sports? Do you like, I don't know. Are you into like more of the rings? Do you like larping? Do you like, there's, there's a group in a city for like anything you want to do. Like, find some things that you like doing and maybe try to like go to those events. I mean, you could still be alone a lot. Like, I like being alone all the time. Like, my wife's like, the, what's, you know, what's your love language? We talk about that stuff all the time and, you
know, first is like, gifts or whatever you had you out and she, I was like, what's mine? She's like, you're just just being left alone. I was like, yeah, that's probably helpful. Like, I do like being left alone. But you can't be alone. That doesn't sound like a love language. It just sounds like something you've liked. Yeah. More, it was more just like you like, you value your space. And I do value my space. I like to just kind of like be alone from time to time. Doesn't mean I want to be alone
all the time or not be married though. And that's, again, this is the trap that you can't fall into, because like, yes, that is a pretty attractive part of life. But like, it's, it kind of is going to
βmake you miserable in a longer. Yeah. I'll, I'll tell you, um, I think like COVID, especially out here,β
because it was so much longer. And then to go from like, even if I were in different stretches of being social and Connecticut or not, and then, you know, with somebody or some sort of long distance thing or whatever, I was going into the workplace five days a week. And there's, there's something to that. Like, I liked getting up and going to work. I went in extremely early, because I'd liked the job. I'd like the whole process of trying to figure out, like, okay, how what am I going
to do today? And all that kind of stuff. And then as soon as the day was over, I'm like, I'm out of here,
and then it's, you know, the rest of my routine. And there was always somebody around. But I would say,
I mean, this is turning into something different here. But me working from home, and that's, I don't want to not work from home. But there are stretches where I'm like, wow, this has been, this has been. We're on a run here. It's not good. Yeah. Yeah. Although I had, you see, like, in Connecticut, I would do something where I'd be in the basement, and I'd go, all right, it's been. And I would count it. I was like, it's been 68 days since you haven't
done this sat here and watched basketball games. But again, I was going into a workplace with all of these people walking around, saying, I'd everybody. And like, look, there was still some juice to ESPN for you, where you walk into the building, and, you know, you go to the cafeteria, you're doing your routine, and just granted once I got an office, I was like, pumped, because I was like, I can just go in there and hide, and I just took the show. Like, I need to get through and figure out what all
the show stuff's going to do. But I know that, and I'm, maybe I'm speaking to this guy, maybe I'm not, but I'm just telling you that there can be some patterns that you can get into, where it's easier,
but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's better. Like, easier isn't always better. And my work
day, my routine is, is easier. And I'm not saying I wish I had to go into an office five days a week. But I think there'd be some things that would be a little bit better if that were the case. Yeah, I'd say plants and seeds at work, and see if that works. I'm old now, so it doesn't matter. And then just try to, like, winter, maybe it's indoor golf league, you know, those are expensive if you don't have three other guys to go. So you might be able to jump
into one of those for some, for an hour or two, bowling. I know I'd bring up bowling a lot, but you'd be surprised how fun it is when you try it. You know, we got cosmic bowling here on Friday,
Nights, I think.
but like push yourself to do one thing there. And yeah, try to see if you have any real relationships to work. I don't be sick. Cosmic bowling. Yeah, Google that. It's awesome back in the day. These are good ideas. I don't, I've dived swear to God. Yeah, they love the way you just said cosmic bowling, but I know you didn't like it. Just trying to give us guys some actionable steps. Have you met friends long-term at cosmic bowling? No, but I go there with friends, you know what I mean?
But I will say this about bowling. You see, you already loaded up. I will say this about bowling,
I'll say the bar there is always 10 times better than you think it's going to be.
And there's a couple of people there because they know it. It's always 10 times better than you think it's going to be. But, God, I think you can become friends with anybody and you're fine with it. I think there's other people that have kind of like, I think one of the best things about you is that you don't have to reach a minimum threshold. You don't have to have $10,000 in this account to make sure that you're not getting charged for checks, physical checks. You look at people in a very open way.
βAnd so I think for other people that might be like, how many friends am I going to meet at cosmic bowling?β
That's all. I think it's a credit to you. I just don't know. It's applicable to everybody. Okay. I rescind cosmic bowling. I feel like you're still taking a visit. I rescind cosmic bowling officially. What is a good hobby to meet people though? I mean swingers. Just look for the pineapple side right there. Yeah. I think anything that there's, they seem to get a long pretty quick. Anything that they're signups for and especially something that's like,
you know, I'm not saying we should go, you should go on the highest hill in town and look for with all the birdwatchers at 6 a.m. but like something that they need maybe to fill out a team for, I don't know. Like, there's got to be some sort of thing. I did that. Yeah. I probably picked a town pick up hoops. I played in the summer league and I was playing with these like dudes that were still in college and like if I was, you know, they're great dudes. I would have
never met them otherwise. They're awesome. Like if I was in a different place in my life, we'd be
grabbed beers afterwards. It was fun. Like, more people are playing botchie ball in my life now than ever before. It seems like. So that's the thing. You're young too. Like that age group. Like those guys are just dying for excuses to just do stuff. So like it's actually, once you kind of like get in, like it's going to be easy to just like have activities to do. You just have to find that in. Yeah. You need the one. You need the one. But some guys, you know,
can be really tough. Like this guy's not cool enough. I don't want to hang out with him. This one's, I don't know him. This one's so bad. I'm not even, it's like, it sucks. I'm going to double check. I'm going to research this one. I'm going to run it through a
βmachine or something. Is that fair? I think I'm going to hold off on this one.β
Through the AI machine. Oh. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's pretty bad. So like the pressing batter. Yeah. It's depressing. I mean, it's not like we had them pretty impressive to none. Thursday last week, I think we should near breaks in those anyway. Yeah. That was a tough one. Look, we all know NFL Sundays are sacred. fell off six to 210 former college hockey player, father of two and built like a refrigerator box, back story, married two kids as you recall, two year-old son, six month old daughter. Wait, what's going on here? Did this guy hit us up? All right, my cousin, we're not all that close, getting married, late George New York at the end of September, late George Goodspot, I guess. I'm trying to figure it out and if I'm being reasonable or selfish for the sake of being
obvious, going as a family would mean taking both kids on a plane for the first time, two flights each way, looking all things. That's a serity, keep two small humans alive, running a car,
Driving an hour and half, staying in an Airbnb, setting up two separate baby ...
the wedding itself and doing the whole thing in reverse a few days later. Boy, when you put it
βlike that, and two and a half sentences, even without anything else going on, I can't make theβ
math work, the occasion of the cousin wedding doesn't justify the chaos in my mind, but we're also dealing with a pretty serious situation with our house leaks moldhouse down to Stutt's temporary housing, well, and maybe relocating again. So my tolerance for voluntarily, adding more chaos right now is extremely low. My first choice is to go by myself. I'd still be there for the wedding in the idea of one or two nights alone in a cold dark quiet hotel room where nobody needs anything
for me sounds incredible right now. Boy, you're speaking the, you're fine when they see it,
soon as you drop your bag. Yeah. See how cold this can get? I like it. Stanford Steve said it's a 55. You wake up with the Stutt throat and it looks so what? We had a shower room once in Mississippi. I woke up the next day. I was sick for like four days. Wow. I was like, dude, are you serious? I looked, did you put, did you hack into that like a golf cart? Right, so go on, I like your cold. That was when Gottlieb booked us a room for Cam Newton's first game Auburn at Mississippi and then
couldn't make it and then we showed up. There was only one hotel room and then we were like, how were it? It's a three of us going to sleep in the two beds, but it's good to think Gottlieb missed it. Or he would, would have been bronchitis. I'm gonna say it did on purpose. That sounds like a very Gottlieb thing to do with others. We were like, what? They were like, yeah, two rooms. They're like, it was only one. Look at the tough place, start field, tough place. You get a hotel room.
Last minute. So maybe not Gottlieb will stand out. Yeah. I'll never forget that. Then driving back,
βjust nasal drip, the whole way back to Tuscillusa. I was like, why did you have to set it?β
It's all off. Because he's a beast. He's a beast. More I hear about him, more I'm totally clear on that. He was the next day. He was like, mad at me for being upset. It was cold. Yeah. Because I was like, what the fuck did you do last? He said, oh, what? A doubt. Murderable blanket. Choosed and not be sick. Dickhead. Sorry, man. What was the Rose Bowl like? All right. My first choice is to go
by myself. All right. So we really got through that. Not because I don't want to be around my family. I think I'm just tired. The real complication and why I'm coming to the tripod of understanding is my mom. She's assumed to sort of unelected an unofficial matriarch role of in the family.
I know should be very unhappy if I say the kids are coming. More importantly, she'll try to
negotiate the decision to death. Different flights. Hell, god. I know exactly what you're talking about here. Different sleeping arrangements. Whatever makes the trip technically possible. She has a PhD in guilt trips and taking things absurdly personal. Most likely I'll say something snarky rude or even worse because I'm sick of the conversation. I have a hard time being direct in honest with it because I know the reactions I'll get. So I usually just give into what I know she wants or avoid
the discussion entirely. So I'm being unreasonable here. Is this one of those family events where you just suck it up and bring everybody? Is it fair to say I'll come alone? The kids are staying home. And this really isn't up for an negotiation like a big boy. Out of serity managed, the family expectations of his own kids helped me. Steve, do you ever lie to your kids for sick to get out of something? I have not done that yet. Although, man, we just had a stomach bug that ripped through our house.
You said that. I know you mean it was a tough. You know like you just like, you know when you're so sick
βwhen you're like, I'm never gonna feel good again. That's how I was really. I was in that. I was like,β
I don't even know what feeling good. It feels like I was like, it's been so long. And it only been like 24 hours. It was like it was like a pretty 36-hour bug, you know? And I didn't, you know, I wish I could. How many times did I call you during it? I had it, it was like a Thursday. So I had some slack messages and I was like late getting a couple of things to you guys and I felt bad. But I was, I was in bed all day. I couldn't eat. And then you know, it's one of those situations too.
We're like, you know that you were feeling worse because you're not eating, but you just have absolutely no appetite. Like, it was just a disaster. So anyway, long story short, I haven't really used it as an excuse. I'm sure I will in the future. But I do have experience with the mom thing. Now my mom is a lovely woman, child to ang. But she does, she is a little, and she listens to these bosses. She'll hear this, but I, you know, I don't think I'm thinking, I'm speaking out of turn.
Oh, no. She's the guilt tripper. Like, you know, she knows kind of how to be like, oh, you're really not going to come to this thing. You know, the thing that she does, like, they live up in a Chad and the Cape. And they have a lovely ranch house, like, three bedrooms. And, you know, I've got three sisters. My sister just had a kid. And she wants all of us to like come up and stay in this house. I've got two kids. One of them needs to sleep in a room by themselves. They have a newborn. And you're
like, mom, I want to do this. But like, the logistics just do not make sense. And do you do not, do we not get a grasp on this? And, but it's just like kind of the constant sort of like, oh, really, okay, okay. And she's disappointed. Like, you know, I'm gonna stay at the right. Am I a bad guy now?
I don't want to go hang out with mom.
I would say you just have to put your foot down, man. If you, if you're, if you are allowed to go buy yourself, that's the move. 100% that's the move. Yeah. Because like, I, I, you know, traveling for weddings, kids that whole thing. Nobody actually, it's, it's also amazing how when people who have kids, and then they like grow a lot of it, they forget how hard that kid phase is. They don't, they don't like understand that, like, bringing them as this hard. Like, did you just go through
βthis like 20 years ago? How do you understand how difficult this, this, this whole process is?β
And what you're asking me, so I think you just, you got to watch out for yourself. I think that's whatever you're happy, is whatever you feel like you're comfortable with doing. And by the way, if we're talking like ages, the young baby is probably gonna be fine on a plane. I think, I mean, we flew with, with our, when I think, when Marlo was maybe three months, it's like bottle up,
flight, bottle down, and they sleep in the middle. The problem is the two-year-old's gonna be an issue.
And then if you got two of them, there's just no way that flight is gonna be enjoyable for you, and anybody else around you. So not only are you helping yourself, you're helping the rest of that plane. So you got to look out for yourself. And, you know, if you kind of piss and family members off, you do, but they'll get over it. It's not the other way. Yeah, if you're not gonna have to do a week of repairs when you get back home after you left your wife with those kids, you know, for the whole thing.
As long as she's like on board, and it's not like, I guess if you really need to go, you can just, like, you know how to read that situation. If that's not gonna be the problem for you, when you come back, yeah, I go out there and I just lie to my mom and say the kids are sick. Because people respect that, they really do. They back right off. Yeah, when he started talking about how she was going to like plan it for him, I was like, oh, because I, I know that person, and it, it makes you even more
mad in a way. It's like, hey, it's clear I don't want to do this. So now you're going to start, but there's actually only a 45 minute layover in DC, and like this will work, and you're like, you're missing the bigger point. I don't want to do this. What I'll say about guilt tripers is they don't really ever stop. So if you don't bring the kids, you show up solo. It's a cousin's wedding, it'd be fine. You know, you show up. You explain all the stuff that you have going on at home.
βShe can do whatever she wants. You have to figure out what it would be immune to it. Because here'sβ
the thing is there's going to be something next summer that she's going to do to you all over again. And I don't know that it stacks up. I don't know that it's like a credit score where the guilt increases because you didn't do this, but like, what's going to change? So it's going to happen. Even if you brought the kids and everything was great, know that there's probably another scenario looming in the future, where she's going to do the same thing all over you. And so you're like,
this didn't even repair anything. It didn't fix, it didn't change the course of time. It's just what she does. So if you can kind of look at it that way, going, hey, if I bring him, she's still going to do this to me, some other event. So I'm not going to bring him. And she's going to lay into me. And it won't change anything. So fine. And then you'll be in your room at peace and get to sleep in until 815. Yeah, as long as you don't need to be right, it's all going to remodel going on.
Once you learn that you don't have to be right. And you can just say sorry, or yeah, you're right. Didn't think about that. You need to do this, man. You may need to have that like little break through. I remember like the first time I realized I could probably tell my dad to just
I wouldn't want to ever, I would never say to my father fuck off. But like, it took me a long time
back to the oldest kind of just go like, yeah, I disagree, man. Yeah. And it was like,
βremember that shit. I remember that kind of about the first time. You're like, whoa, I could justβ
not do this. I could say no. Yeah, I could just say, I think you're wrong. I'm not doing it. It might think I'm way later. Yeah, because I don't, I don't like, I don't mind that my dad was still in my head to the age that was laid. I think when you're the oldest is something that definitely happens to you, too. But I might not even have been right about whatever it was. And I was just like, yeah, okay, cool. Don't want to do. Yeah. I appreciate your concern out.
Like, I'm not, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. I'm not doing what you're asking me. You bring up a good point earlier though, too, about the guilt trip or thing. Like, they don't, they don't, it doesn't get any really better. In my opinion, it doesn't get any better or worse. Like, you can say yes or no and do all these things. And they're just going to be the same baseline almost every single time. You know, like, if you start saying no, they're still going to
keep asking. And if you do a bunch of this stuff, they're still going to keep asking. So you just pick what you want to do. And it's probably going to be the same for you no matter what happens. God, what were you like 12 the first time you're like, I actually disagree. You know, it's just just, it's different because the parents were divorced forever. So I just had to totally different audiences. And one that was like, well, what's going on over there? And I'm like,
you know, what the fuck's up? I'll tell you what's going on over there. And then I get all jazzed up the comeback and be like, well, you know, I heard something else actually. So that was like, that was a little bit tougher when you're split in the week in half. You know what I mean? It was, it was kind of fucking crazy, honestly. But yeah, that's where you get to talk about all that stuff. No, I was like,
the, I was like the silent guy, but Anna splits. I always think I was there that long, but I was,
I was not sharing.
Come on. That's a sloppy joke today, yeah. Pull me out of here for this shit. It's a fucking joke. I would definitely have sloppy Joe at lunch. It wasn't often. I feel like, well, you're top three lunch school lunch because I got it's right off the bat. I would say,
real triple deck of the real cheese day was was never had that. It must be some Connecticut
pizza day. And then I don't know to square eat today. Yeah, we had tacos every once in a while. I mean, it was like the bare minimum for tacos, but yep, oh, probably the garlic bread sticks. Yeah, I kind of like the corn. It seemed like it was lame to like the, the little portion of corn, but I fucked with it. I don't think we had sloppy jokes, but you're nigh with a sloppy Joe. You're like Marcel Marseille Marseille, the rest of the day. Bring a sloppy Joe sees it around your face.
βDid I ever tell you guys this, too? I forget if I brought this one. What do you guys? What are you talking about?β
I used to sell my lunches at lunch to buy hot lunch. I got my mom would make a sandwich. I would sell it for like two bucks a whole lot of hot lunch. Damn. Were you, did you not want to be a bringer or did you just, you really appreciated that? I wasn't a cold, I wasn't really a cold cut sky, especially like I don't want to brown bad with all the. I know, I know, even to this day, I'm about a huge cold cut sky. So I would just, yeah, this guy had two 53 bucks and we trade factory to put them there, too. Man.
Yeah. I think it was like 250 for hot lunch back then, right? So I'm like, I don't know, just seem like you were less cool than the hot lunch kids. Like, I would have sometimes I'd bring too. And it's like, yeah, nice. A pulverized peanut butter and jelly. The great, nice. It's all purple now, but we're even just showing up there, you know, with your, you sit right down with the bag. I don't know. Just something about it seemed like less cool. I cared too much. You know, my parents cared too much.
You guys are just in the world figuring life out. And I got my bag lunch. That's just how I never
really put it in the river until right now. But that's always felt that way.
βI remember having a little bag lunch episode when I was really young because, um,β
my dad was the type to like, if you were going to get peanut butter, we'd have the peanuts ground in the health food store. And then it would be in the tub and I'd be like, when I go to my friend's house, they're peanut butter seems to taste way better than this whole shit. Yeah, but in the year, there was a habit of time. Now, that's now that's cool. Yeah, you got to go to the regular in the. Yeah. It was a cool neighborhood. Not open of the bag. You're going to
just like open in my bag up. And there was, I don't know if it was gork. I don't even think it was called that back then. And then there was some sort of like homemade peanut butter thing. And then like, likely a vegetable or something, maybe yogurt. It sucked. If you were eight, you were like, is there a therapist here? I can talk to you right now. So yeah, I remember just kind of like opening my bag and I was like staring at it and I was upset. And then I remember the teacher coming
over. She was like, what's wrong, Ryan? I was like, I just hate my lunch. I still remember. I was like, I hate this. Why do they keep doing this to me? Yeah, it's like, I don't mean, I don't
like any of these things. We never get anything good. Never get anything good over there. I was like,
rather just by lunch. And that looks like shit too early 80s. Not lunch, forget it. Yeah. So I remember like another teacher came over. You know, it's like I shit myself. It's okay. Let's give a couple people over here. And I'm going to treat this one. I remember like one of the other teachers being like, oh my God, you have like that granola or you have that yogurt or oh my God, is that, is that homemade peanut butter on 12 grain? You know, I remember like looking at her,
be like, you're fucking old. Of course you think this is cool. Like I'm eight, the kids going to fucking fruit roll up. That one over there is like something. It was a pre-sund. It was that from the future. Is that an astronaut shit? I was like, I got I fucking great, I got my fucking water water. I want some flavor. Man, that is funny. Just look it around. Nobody's trade with me. I was like, the guy in prison with those cigarettes, you know, just fucking looking around. Go on.
So I want that. Sorry, my life. Yeah. There ever we get the other older teacher coming over trying to talk me up. Just hype you up right
βup. You know what's in that corp. Yeah. You're the dead shows. You want to fucking bring this with you?β
Anyway, all right, that'll do it for life advice. Thanks a series of exit Tom, thanks to Kevin, and Kyle, who I'm going to go with Cosmic Bowling. I'm going to go buy myself next week. How's that sound? Check out the barbecue before us. I think we should start doing that to each other.
It's signing each other homework assignments.
Next challenge. Yeah, I thought you were going to get your time. We're together. We should do it. We should do a
βCosmic Bowling video. All right, done. I think I should go by myself and see if I'm being meeting everybody.β
Make it. Yeah. What was the one you had to watch a movie, right, Serity? Oh, yeah. Well, was it?
I didn't watch it. I just feel the dreams, right? Right. Oh, yeah. The dreams. Yeah. Yeah. It was what's
βfilled with dreams. I like knowing that the under on like 30 minutes before he taps out, he's going to text,β
he's going to text me a 15 minutes going, are you serious? Fuck off, right? Do you want to do this on
one set? I could do this on one set. I could do it tonight or tomorrow. I don't know. Sounds like you're
βgetting it over something. Sounds like you got wiped out pretty good by that book. Uh,β
one of the clear. All right. Sounds good. Thanks again, everybody. Rhyber social, full episodes on Netflix. Please subscribe, boss, and sports. Cheers.
