“There were two moments last night where I was asking myself, is San Antonio really going to do this? Are they going to pull this off?”
They're going to win an OKC for games seven of the Western Conference Finals and go on to play the next for championship.
They're up early 27-13 and then OKC got it to 53-49 up for late in the first half.
I was like, all right, this is probably OKC settling down here a little bit. They'll have the home crowd. No, I didn't know. I was spending all day yesterday. I was like, I really don't know what's going to happen here. But watching a play out on like, OK, this makes sense. They've bounced back. It wasn't like San Antonio was going to go up 25 and just run away on the road. This whole thing like there's no way SGA's going off. He was incredible last night. I felt like he was making everything. But that's seven-0 run was really important to close out the first half by San Antonio because other than going, hey, we blew kind of this bigger lead and now they have the lead.
They have all the momentum. You're San Antonio closing it out seven zip. You have the lead. You're walking off the court.
“You're going to the tunnel and you're feeling great about yourself. And you're probably feeling even better once you look at the box score and go, how many offensive rebounds have we given up in the first half?”
How come we're getting killed on the boards? And it was something that San Antonio fixed dramatically in that second half.
So watching that, I was like, OK, you know, you can always kind of find it a box score, some NBA math that explains kind of what's happening. It's like, how is the score of the score?
You know, like, well, the only reason that San Antonio is not a huge is that they can't, they can't seem to control the defense supports with this. So huge spot for them there. 76 65 and the third quarter off a women young, a three, when we did so about pretty quickly after that, I was like, all right, now it's going to happen. And OK, C closed out the fourth quarter, even though women young only sat out 46 seconds. So this was like these non-wempy minutes. I've been talking about all the time.
OK, C closed the third on a twelve-four run.
OK, C gets an 84 82 down two off a case in Wall Street. This is around the kelvin Johnson threes, where he's answering. And I add that moment again. Like, San Antonio really going to be able to like hold off all of this momentum. Kind of what's happening here is when young in the fourth quarter, there's some stuff there that I didn't like at all, by the way.
“And then you're just watching the minutes tick away and you go, OK, C doesn't really have much offensively here. Other than SGA, can you please do something?”
You know, Chet's disaster scheme, which will get to you in a second. There just wasn't really much that OK, C could rely on other than just hope that SGA would make every single shot that he attempted.
And in the first half, it actually looked like he was going to do that.
Well, to think about what San Antonio just did, right? They beat the defending champs at their place in a really tough place of playing games over the Western Conference Finals. They didn't beat some aging defending champs, or I should say previous champs. I think about we'll walk you this way, like most teams kind of fit the Milwaukee path. A bunch of years, great player, some frustrating exits, he went a championship down O2 to Phoenix, by the way, that year, where when the excuse me, Jonas, didn't mean to do that. Maybe it makes sense.
But Yana scores 15 and a game six that maybe still doesn't get enough credit. And then because of Yana's and because of Milwaukee winning a title and you're like, all right, we can't ever really kind of count these guys out.
And they actually take like the normal course of what teams do. Hey, there's your title and you're probably never ever going to win one again,
even though we'll be respectful for probably too many years about what your potential is in the playoffs.
“San Antonio didn't knock out that kind of team. They knocked out an OKC team that's, yeah, the defending champs, but still easily in their prime years despite, of course, missing two important players.”
And San Antonio did this, not in like the third run with this group to the playoffs, where they've lost a heart breaking series to OKC, or they lost in the NBA finals, or they had a year out of the three playoff exits where their best player wasn't playing. They did it the first time they've been together. Six of their top eight players, this is their first postseason ever. This is not supposed to happen in this league. If I go through some cops here on just how long it usually takes, last year was SGA's seven season, his fourth postseason.
Tatum's title was his seventh postseason, Yokech is only title. Was his fifth postseason, Janice is only title, his sixth postseason. The only comp that I could even think of, because yes, San Antonio still has a lot of work to do, was LeBron in 2007, getting to that Cavs team that was not good. They're OK, getting that team to NBA finals, like I joke that LeBron should get like not a ring, but like a pendant maybe to acknowledge how impressive that is. And that somehow some people would use that lawsuit in an argument against LeBron, because it's like a final slash like that team had no business being Detroit.
They shouldn't, they shouldn't be Detroit. So you could say that felt like a little ahead of schedule, and then they went against San Antonio in the finals and it was like, not even close, massive massive underdogs. So this is an OKC team. Yeah, Miss and Williams and AJ Mitchell should give again, but this isn't like some old team that they finally got passed. They got through them the first time when OKC was fresh off a young core winning a title.
“I think OKC is probably fine other than maybe women, young as in the West.”
SGA again, incredible. Check was not as bad as the one for two for four points. Look in the box score the next day. It was even worse.
The past up three that Reggie Miller was smart to point out because it wasn't just an open three that fast out of it was like, this guy is rattled. He's not comfortable out there. He had a cut where he's coming from the right side. They got him a pass. He bottles the ball just couldn't catch it. He had a drive against women. Yama where he just fell down on the baseline. There's another play where Harper rips the ball away from him, which look can happen when you're fighting for rebound. But he just felt like too many times I'm watching him go and he's weak.
I don't think he's soft. I don't want to calm soft. And I'm like, he just looks weak out there when they need him more than ever to be any kind of outlet. I'm kind of second option other than Jared McCain having to put the cape on when SGA isn't out there. Like that's insane to run yourself through that thought process of when they trade for Jared McCain. I'm like, hey, I wonder if he's going to have to play in the fourth quarter and be the number one offensive option for okay see to see if they can win a game seven to get to the NBA finals trade grade B plus.
Chet was was awful and it's going to hang all season all off season. It'll be all next season. And when they play each other again, which is going to happen. Like I don't know if the chat stuff will go with a stain of what happened in this series probably doesn't go away until okay season next title, which is likely still going to happen.
If okay see it pulled it off last night, that chat game is forgotten to histo...
You know, I remember people after the fact because they wanted to say, yeah, but he did so much more for this team like duty at zero points in a game seven and I'm sure you forgot about it because that's what winning does.
“But chat as a dependable playoff scoring option.”
That will be a conversation until next year's playoffs have fun with that because it's not going to be any fun whatsoever.
As great as the spurs win is they didn't even get the great win beginning and this is kind of what I was looting to here. You know, any shots he took in the fourth quarter. He played 11 minutes. You want to know what the stats were on the fourth quarter. One for one that three pointer that he made with zero rebounds. The only time they sat him out is when he got that fifth foul. They brought him back at like six minutes after sitting like barely a minute.
“And watching the fourth quarter, I'm like, hey, they're ignoring him again. They're not getting him the ball. And yeah, I thought he was tired, but it's like, what are you going to do? It's like, oh, everybody else is just going to hit shots.”
So it wasn't even like when Ben Yamma closed out OKC in the fourth quarter.
Everyone around him, it was like a collective team thing from a bunch of guys, you're like, hey, who's going to be the guy that's never had to do this before that's going to miss a shot and apparently all of them were totally fine and comfortable about it. So I have San Antonio in six. And if they beat the next, then it's going to be a long list of who's beaten that team in the next five years. And my argument would be probably somebody because we just did this two years ago with Boston. We did it last year to an even larger extent with OKC. And we're already doing it before we have the result of the finals, which feels disrespectful about what San Antonio is capable of.
But I would close by saying what they've already accomplished is unprecedented when you think about how inexperienced this group is collectively. And maybe they got enough experience. And that's why when Ben Yamma was so emotional after the game, it wasn't just, hey, I'm like, people are looking at me like, hey, maybe still have some work to do.
“I think OKC is that tough of an opponent. I think it was that hard. And that's how this guy is wired. And I don't think there's a moment now in the finals, even in New York City, even with all the extra attention.”
That's going to be too big for these guys because if that were going to be the case, they would have already lost. It is the morning after a game seven win for San Antonio KC Austin Rivers joins us on the show. I had a couple moments that I explained earlier on the pot of like, okay, end of the first half. Okay, C's going to write this and then it's like San Antonio goes on this little run.
If there's a moment there in the late in the third, they get it to 842.
Did you like I'm just wondering how you watched the game and how you were feeling. Did you feel like okay C's comeback was inevitable. How did you feel about San Antonio's chances is actually holding on here. So you know, obviously game seven, these two teams are so alike and mirrored that I knew the game was going to be competitive as we all did. This wasn't going to be a blowout game because of this thinking. I felt even when the spurs had this lead when they had pushed 10 when they pushed, you know, six, seven eight when they're in that realm of points, I was like,
okay, C's going to walk them down and it's going to be a two three four point game with two minutes left and then one team has she and he's either going to get to where he wants to in the floor or he's going to get to the foul line. And it's just we've seen it so many times in the playoffs so many games even during the regular season where this team has just talked somebody down and then it's a tie game with a minute left and you're like, well, okay C wins this game because they have the best closer and basketball arguably right.
And it just never got there the spurs just kept creating distance and then you could tell with a couple minutes left in the game you were like, oh wait, this is this is real they're going to win this game. You could see it in the plays that are being made by a variety of spurs players.
Most importantly, you could see it in OKC and that they had one man out there...
But I still don't believe they want. I'm still expecting the thunder to play in New York. This is crazy to me. You know, and I know the spurs are a great team.
“I think everybody thought this is going to be competitive series after this regular season right.”
I think we all thought they were a couple years away from this being a full on competitive rivalry in the playoffs at least and wow bro.
I mean to go on the road in game seven. This is his first playoffs man.
It's this is this is this is unbelievable what we're saying. Uh, yeah. Was there anything from OKC that you felt like, hey, they should have done this or this was a fixable thing. You know the you know when OKC's you know chat chat is listen and I'm not going to be this guy is going to be like it's chest fall. Chet with huge.
Chet with huge man and I don't mean the huge in a good way. All right, like chat. Yeah, you completely first off the guy had five fouls with so much time left and it's like you have a guy who's in terms of just being close in proximity of of. Relength size. There's nobody else in the NBA.
That can kind of mirror. Wimbie. Then chat. All right. This is a rivalry that we made up before it even became one, which it's not one anymore.
That's been completely put to bed and shattered. But we all thought chat was a guy that could even though he's not better than Wimbie. We all knew how we all know how good check and be and we're like, well, check and be a guy that can make things difficult. And he can be a guy with his length could possibly bother him.
No, never really guarded him in the series.
Never really attacked him. I mean, we how many times did you hear Reggie last night on the call and Reggie's a very fair. Middle guy doesn't get on players during a broadcast. Very vanilla keeps it clean, very professional. We're talking about Reggie Miller here.
You know what I'm saying?
“How many times during the broadcast did you hear him in the middle of the game?”
I mean, sound frustrated and be like, attack, go. Like, can I see you put your, I would have been okay with him getting a charge. Can I see you put your head down? Put your shoulder into this guy's chest and go try to finish through him once. It's not like he was getting help.
It was just complete ISOs. And he wasn't even looking at the basket. I don't understand you because the first two possessions are the game.
Oh, within the first couple of possessions again.
Chad hits a nice fade away baseline jump shot. And I was like, that's huge. That's it's setting up a much needed performance, especially. They don't have AJ Mitchell. You don't have Jalen Williams, which is a whole another issue that people got to get into.
So like you, you don't have key players who can contribute in score. Is good as in as a deep as. Okay, see is right. And I knew there and trouble the last couple minutes of the game because those guys had zero flow in the game. So now they literally do what has bailed them out and plenty of games.
They give them all the shame. They're like, just bail us out, man. And that's what he does. It's it. I love New York.
They're very similar. Not in teams, but in playing style to where they'll play team basketball throughout the game. The last four minutes of the game. What does New York do? They give the bottle one man.
And they'll like, Jalen, please, just get us to where we need to get to.
“And that's why these guys make what they make.”
It's hard to count on that. Uh, verse the team that's rolling and playing like the spurs and complete unison. I mean, it's all of them. They're all balling. Uh, and it was you could see it.
We all thought the thunder is going to do the thunder thing and just catch them. And then the last couple minutes of the game, right? That's when you realize you're like, oh, wait. This isn't a good happening. They're not going to beat this team.
Not like this. The shot, the degree of difficulty. The shots that Shay was hitting was remarkable. He was hitting like fade away. You can't have to lean twisted over rainbows, over Wemby and a defender that was guarding.
He was hitting a double team jump shots. You're just like, this cannot last for another three or four minute. There, you can't come back like this. You know what I mean? Like, it just doesn't work.
Not versus spurs. They, they defend too well. And they're getting great shots every position. They rarely shoot bad, bad shots. It was remarkable to watch man.
I mean, it's just just. Okay. See, one last year. And I think we all thought they're going to win nine years in a row. Right, you know.
So to see a year later, this team be bounced is like, wow. It's a, it's a great thing for the NBA in my opinion. I love OKC, but it's a good, it's great. It's good count. We got to get caught, man.
Unbelievable. I'll stay with the check thing.
Just because that drive on the baseline where he falls down.
You're like, man, and there's all sorts of plays around. He looks weak here. He looks scared here. He looks soft here.
“And this is back to the Jaylam Williams part of it is, you know, OKC has Jaylam Williams sort of full series.”
They're likely in the finals. I don't think that's a knock on OKC. I mean, you can't lose. I don't know how many teams would even make it to the game seven of a conference finals.
At least in a really tight conference without their second best player.
Yeah. So you take him out. Then you take out AJ and then I'm not turning this to the excuse part of it. But it's at that point. You go, hey, chat.
This is why you're in the conversation. Then I'm going to roll pick. And, you know, chat is somebody who every team would want. Like, there's a reason why the wizard's paid presinguist. There's a reason why the Celtics added two years on a presinguist's deal.
There's a reason why Atlanta was like, hey, presinguist could be something. And then Golden State's like, we'll try it. And I can't wait to see what happens with it. Because you go, if we could just have a stretch five who gives us some room protection.
Man, that opens up everything on offense. And then we're like, we have two different players on opposing sides of the floor.
So chat even being limited offensively with his skill set is always going to make this kind of money.
“But in this moment, you're like, you have to make this easier on Shay.”
There has to be something. And I'm telling you, Austin, like, they're sticking the cell on him. Like, that's the matchup. There's matchups that I saw where Fox was on him. And granted, Wendy's lurking, but like, that's what I love about the playoffs is towards the end of it.
You know, San Antonio's prepping up the game plan going, hey, I think we can actually get away with one of the guards on chat. And that's going to maybe not burn us at all because, you know, it's just seemed like it may be it's just a Wemby thing. But there's, there's definitely times with him because it always kind of turned into like a Palo check conversation where I go. I understand Chet's value in wanting that may be more, but like I imagine Chet having to be a number one option offensively, like you can get pissed at Palo.
But to me, it's like, this was an indictment on that argument. It was an eye opening experience watching this playoffs series, not even just last night. Last night was a microcosm of pretty much how this whole series has gone with exception of a few games. He doesn't, it's confusing because I know Chet, just from a basketball perspective, you always know how it is the morning after. I know today, and obviously he's getting killed on the internet, right?
It's gonna suck. Yeah, it's like, I know today is brutal. And it's not even because the memes and the jokes, I know he's hurting because he's like, I didn't even shoot on my bullets. Yeah, I wouldn't have to shoot out and I woke up the next morning and my gun is loaded just with every bullet in there. I didn't even, I would have been okay.
If Chet went out there and was one for 16, right? I would have been like, you know what, many had an awful game, but that that mother, that MF are a went for it. He just, he tried, he just didn't have anything going. And he had a bad game at the wrong time, but he was aggressive. And he tried to help and she was scoring and he tried, that didn't happen.
By the way, if that did happen, I guarantee you, Wimbie's foul situation would have been even more critical.
You can't have the longest player in your team in the NBA, other than this other guy. And you don't guard him ever. Why is this sell? And then even on the other side, how many games did we see like Karuso or someone trying to guard Wimbie and Wimbie? You know, like, you make people pay, you make teams pay.
By the way, like you said, the Wimbie is lurking, but Chet, you're seven feet, whatever. You can't get to the paint and just shoot a little flip around. Turn around.
“Does it have to be a layup that you have to always meet Wimbie at the rim?”
I've seen him have touch. He can shoot. Chet's too good. That's the problem, right? This end of bashing of Chet because he stinks.
This is a bashing of Chet because you're too good to be doing this. You're too good of a player. I've seen it. We've seen it too many games where he has played well. Where he plays with half the series.
We were just asking for a motion. Do you remember that one donkey had baseline? He dunked at two hands where he went and he was yelling and everybody's like, "Whoa, where has that been? What happened?
I don't know if it's a Wimbie thing. I don't know if the pressure of the head to head matchup got to him. I don't know if it last night. You even saw the reporter after the game, which visibly bothered him. When he was like, it seems like because of the one-on-one thing,
you almost purposely didn't be aggressive because you're trying to like not get into that or you're like shying away from it. What was your thought process? And he didn't answer. But it's like, what's going on, man?
You shot two shots. It's impossible. You're the second option, especially without Jayle Williams out. And like you said, AJ Mitchell's another guy. Huge loss.
Because he's one of the few playmakers that you can, that shaking give the ball to and trust that the right play will be made.
Not just a guy who needs to set up the score.
Jordan McCain.
Jayle McCain's more of a score.
He wants to get his three off. He wants his hunting to shoot. He's looking to score. I had like 19 attempts to game before. And I love McCain.
His shot is going to be like all time for a play. He's putting that clip up. He shoots. And I love that. He's great for it.
That's what he does. AJ Mitchell does a little bit more of guard like things in terms of point guard. They took a huge loss losing him. And then Jayle Williams is another guy who can make a play. Then they lost him as well.
So now, Chad, I'm not asking you to be a point guard. I am asking you to be more aggressive. I need 15 shots from you, my big man. You're too good of a player. You make $200 plus a million dollars.
It's impossible for you to shoot two shots in a game seven.
Versa team versus a guy that people who always compared you against and bash you against.
It's like, I thought it would be the opposite. I thought he would have it in his head and overdue it. I'd rather be having a conversation with you.
“I'm like, man, I think the chat when we stuff got to his head.”
And I think last night he went to go try to make a message. And he just was too aggressive and out of control. I would rather be having that conversation. And I guarantee you, chat would rather have played like that than waking up and being like. Man, six foot forward and five guys are guarding the last night because I was a non threat.
And when we had five fouls for, I don't know how much time of the game. And they just kept him in because they're like, ah, we could just put him on a non, just put him on croissant and his croissant and those guys have to continue to make shots. You know, we'll bet on it. You know, and croissant's done a fantastic job of making him pay.
But it's what the scouting report is always worth it. And that's going to be the same thing for his New York. He's going to guard Josh Hart. And Josh is going to have to hit that shot. And if he does it, because shamit played well enough,
they're going to call that guy's number two. If he's not hitting shots, it's how it's going to work. So it's like, it's crazy that, you know, it's just as a little disappointing for me just because I like chat. And I think, again, you made a great point.
The Apollo comparisons. Everybody used to be like Apollo chat.
“Apollo had like 40, but Apollo played the piss and spy himself.”
Game's game seven and had like, what did memory? Like 40, like 45 and that showed out with K. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to have to turn on you because everybody knows I like Apollo.
And, you know, the whole thing. But like there's just moments of like. Chets value. And now it's like his contracts get dragged.
It's like actually if you never had an offensive expectations for him.
Somebody like chat with the stuff that I'm emphasizing the positive part of it. It's like that guy still would get paid because it opens so much for what you can do. But it's it's in those moments where you're thinking back to the draft arguments. And you're just going, hey man, you got it. You got to go a little like I understand it.
This is a webinar. A problem. And wind horse was on well, that's not that long ago. Giving us the backstory. I mean, he told the story.
It was like 15 minutes long where. And you were seeing the clips were, and I'm not like knock his windy. It was like I'm going too long, but it was so good. Because wind horse had so much access to wind. It went beyond before the draft that I think he understood the personality better than any of the American
Pours that were covering it at the time. But when you saw that emotion from woman Yamaloo's in that after that, what under 17 stuff and Losing a chat, shit sitting there in the middle and like women Yamas like really you're like Dude, there's going to be a lot of games. And what you don't realize is that is like the birth of what this guy is all about.
And then I guess later on, chat had run into women Yamas in this mother at some other game. And then was kind of like being a little kind of aloof as the right word. But it was like, oh, yeah, yeah, we played against each other. And kind of did it as like a reminder that I beat you. Just want to chat after this series is like, I wish I hadn't done that.
Because like, I'll ask you, this did you ever play against somebody that you hated? Me and made it and hate him as the part. Maybe you hated him as a person. But like, I'm sure I'm going to receive a look in your eyes. Someone where you were like, I want to get this fucking guy.
And it's just about me trying to get him, you know, off the dribble. Take him at the rim because there's something different that happens when you can see. But I'm been y'all like it's chat and that's something okay. See, he's like, we don't want to.
“Is there somebody who can remember or maybe somebody that hated you that you felt like Jesus man?”
Like, I'm sorry if my dad didn't play you enough minutes, but this isn't my fault. Right, right, right, right. There was definitely a lot of the other way. I've definitely felt like a lot of times. And that is a untalked about thing. Like, people, as you know, life, human nature is to group someone with someone else.
Even if they have nothing to do with what you're doing. So my pops and, you know, business, this is how it works. Someone plays, someone doesn't on every team. Any guy that's ever not played would play against me and look at me like, I'm doc. And attack me in a way where I was like, the fuck I do to you.
I, I, I, whether the day I was going on, I got that all the time. So that, I, it'd be a hundred names. In terms of me going at people, it'd be anybody that personally, I've had issues with or someone has said something with me during a game or something like that that was cross a line.
I'd be like, you know what, I'll forgive you, but I'll forget every time I pl...
I'm, I'm trying to kill you.
“And every time you're guarding me, I'm, I'm at, I'm at you.”
The, the, but the eyes light up.
I, I've never seen it with a, this is the difference.
I've never seen this with a top tier defender and player. Chats the top tier defender in the NBA. Chats the top tier player by every sense of the word is a max contract guy on an NBA champion. All NBA, I mean, all NBA guy. So it's rare for an all NBA guy in defensive guy to be targeted in a way to where when he's guarding Wimbie.
It is personal every time you can see it in Wimbie. First off, we saw this in the regular season this year when they started beating him and you saw how vocal. And how much shit talking Wimbie does the dirty plays the pushing.
I don't think people knew this about Wimbie.
And whatever chat has done to this this young man in the past has resonated with him. Because every time they play for whatever I've seen this season, it is completely personal. And I think he finds it completely annoying or whatever words you want to use that people ever compared them. And the same sentence. And it's like a it's like a it's like would you a Jordan used to do to to to to let's support them guys name.
Clyde Clyde when people compared those it was personal for Michael and you can see it in the games Michael personally went at him when he was guarding him.
“And it was the thing that's how the that's how those guys operate they they're not normal.”
They take they take differently. They find things to upset them and they like do you see the motion after this guy one and even when the finals are going to the finals sky was grabbing his teammates crying. There's just that there's something I think that beating this team okay see meant. To win be personally because of chat. And because of everything that this team is stood for the interviews the dancing. How they beat everybody so badly the fall baiting.
I don't personally have a problem with okay see I love watching them play I think they're great obviously team as we all know and I love that diagonal he's one of my favorites in the NBA. But when be they this they have their number right now. And it's personal and they've had it all regular season and people didn't buy into it because it was the regular season. And now we just saw it in the playoffs in a game seven on the road they would and they're just got it done. It's it's this is special but you know there are guys you know like.
It's always the shit talkers you know like you pay against dream on.
You want to be dream on and this has nothing to do with me and dream on some you know whatever that was this is long before that when we play you don't want to beat him. When I went against Chris Paul I love playing with Chris but when you went against Chris you wanted to be Chris very badly. You know to me like because he has that type of that energy you know to mean so like there are guys that like review up. But again we're talking about you know Chris Paul's a superstar you know I was a role player throughout my whole career.
There are plenty of role players I would go at it's just rare I see someone go at a star like Chad. And like everyone does the whole team was just going at him. If I see one more time I was campaigning. If I see one more time him drive and bump him out the way or Kelvin Johnson's just completely just moved chat with the shoulder and lay him up. I was like good I was about to throw up because this is like this you are too good of a like this is.
This is a mental mindset thing because you way the same is chat and or when be anybody moving him out the way like that. When we probably pull you down with them but some dirty stuff he ain't letting it fly like I needed that from chat. I would rather have him gone out doing some stupid stuff like that than just submit I just don't like that. And it just it really surprised me and again it's not because chat sucks it's because chat's good. It's because chat's too good of a player right he's too good of a player to shoot two shots in a game seven.
Without Jalen and AJ he's too good of a defender to be getting bullied at the basket he's too good of a competitor to be guarded by a vessel or whoever those guys are and not be like clapping his hands so hard saying give me the ball look who's guarding me.
“That's that's what I want from him like when someone switches on when be when be is like you know give me the fucking ball.”
Give me the ball they have to help someone will be open I'll find the right guy I'll make the right play. I said it's pretty dry he falls over like bambie's blakes go down on the when be baseline drive when be don't even know to do it him he's looking on like get up. Yeah. It's just it it's just shocking you know I mean chat's just too good it's too good Ryan for this two good of a basketball player man. Like that that's that's going to be somebody's got to live with all summers you have to take that because wherever he goes man you're only a good as your last game it's tough that's the hardest part of the playoffs when you lose everybody remembers how you did and it that stain or smell last all summer.
And until the next season happens then people have that memory kind of. This is a thing now because of how they face each other likely when these teams face each other I mean maybe we don't get lucky and it happens back to back years but.
The next time they play each other in the playoffs the graphics package is go...
That's what it is that's what it's going to be every time I will say that comparison stuff's done that's dead.
“That's a yeah I think I think most of us I.”
Going into it I don't know that anybody was suggesting he was at his level here on a game thing I thought was interesting because when he picks up the fifth foul seven 50 to go. In the game. And there was like a couple plays there were when he took a three I think in the third quarter I was like all he's exhausted because there was an SGA three in game six where I could tell like I just can. Like if there's a few things that I figured out I can tell when a guy is just exhausted and SGA took just this.
He didn't want to run anything was 18 seconds left on the shot clock he was like this is maybe a good look. Let me let me see how this goes and I wouldn't say it was the same defeat as the temp from when be. But he missed that and then on that heart and Stein dunk hard steam one day I'll figure out his name. Heartstein has that dunk worth the end one but when he was like late and maybe that's just attention to SGA or whatever. And so then I'm thinking okay he's got five fouls they bring him back in at 549.
And there was one play in particular the kind of drove me crazy. His greatest case in walls was last night throughout the entire series like you want to talk about guys that had zero interest in ever going. And I'm not saying like Wallace with his size and his games like hey we needed walls to attack one of the more the series that's not what I'm saying. But there's a difference between like some guys wondering if there's a possibility where Wallace could be five feet away from the rim. And he would just sprint with the basketball out of the paint and then reset the whole thing and there was a play soon after when he checks back in.
“The Wallace like in transition has when been yamma like lined up and I know it's hard to say hey you have to go at him because the likelihood that this is going to work out as extremely low.”
But not but why not what the game in the rough hands yeah I think okay see probably will regret. Hey we should have done something where we tried to put him in like three different things defensively where he had a chase around a little bit because that was their only chance of winning this game was failing him out. If let me ask you this with the way. She's able to draw. All right.
If they drew up up just a simple pick and roll action with whoever when he was guarding. And by the way, when he ended up on the SGA side a lot with what they were doing. Yeah. It was a common thing and it was but and also credit to like SGA how many times it still worked last night because again I think it's important to be emphasizing how phenomenal he was but go ahead.
“No that that's again that's what people don't you know because of the loss everyone's highlighting of course you know the winning team and the spurs and that can't believe this is in chat chat's taken a headline.”
She was unbelievable. He was healthy. He was he is so nasty. I hate the foul baiting stuff with people with him. It's a part of his game the guy makes like 15 field goals a game.
I have I've called his game and I've seen this guy just shoot over people like they're not guarding him and I'm talking on top tier defenders. He is the best guard in the NBA it ain't close. All right. There's a lot of good guards. I love Luca. I love Kate. I love aunt. These guys are all in that conversation under shit. He's the best player in the NBA and in the other guard and then you can put in his jail and bronzing.
But again, she is in a different tier in my opinion. I think he's the best guard in the NBA and he was phenomenal last night. And without him and Wallace, that game would have been a nasty ugly game.
Especially in the second half of the game.
Because I had moments like there's that stretch without SGA. And I'm going, if you were to ever say, hey, Jared McCain is the key. He's the number one off option in the fourth quarter of game seven of the conference finals. Like even if you loved him as a six or six fan in that trade, which obviously looks terrible now, but you're seeing their goal and Jared McCain is the number one option. Okay. See with their injuries for these few minutes here and like he's their hope to keep them afloat here offensively.
Yep. That's that's the yeah. When you put it like that, and again, we both love Jared and he's a great player and I'm very happy for his success and okay. See in the net she's found. But yes. When you have those type of injuries, that shows you the value of Jalen and AJ Mitchell, of course. I thought wagons are some other guys who could put the ball on the basket, maybe we got a little more minutes last night, but you know, they're so heavy on that defensive set team with Coruso and Dort and Wallace, you know, which you know.
McCain gets targeted and so that is if you go with Joe, he's the first type like you could just see the the priority of okay, what are we trying to attack here, but go ahead.
Yeah.
We're going to call when we have like five times in a row, and I need you to attack him and whip that head back.
“At some point, the rest going to, especially with a being Shay with Shay being a way to be able to just figure out ways to get contact with seven plus minutes left.”
You know if when he's out the game, the spurs are a completely different ball club. So it's like that, I just thought I would have been more of a, and this isn't like a diagonal thing. He's not playing, but like I just saw from a player perspective, whether it was chat first and foremost, but yes, Shay anybody.
You know, this guy's got their whole team, and I don't say the whole team because they're very good team when we can get into that in a second, the castle Harper thing.
I didn't know these guys would be this good to see this this this soon. But with seven minutes left, and the best player has five, and he's a rim protecting guy who you know is going to go after shots in block. I got to go out and you said the case of walls where you line up, I'm going, I'm going right at him.
“I'm not even seeing if I make the lay up or not, I'm trying to get as much physical contact I can in the air, because if you get win be out, the entire game changes man, obviously.”
So just with that much time left, it's shocking he was able to play through, play aggressive, and wasn't really targeted that much at the rim, if at all. The one time chat drove on him, he collapsed. That was it. So we got, and when he was able to go out there and do exactly what he wanted and finish the game to the point where people forgot he was even in foul trouble. Like everyone forgot until the end of the game like, oh wait he had five with eight minutes left. So that was yeah that was that was shocking that he was able to get away with that, you know, they didn't have to pull him out and put Kornan in and figure out ways to, you know, he just got to finish the rule.
Let's get some thoughts on Harper here, because you know in that fourth when it's getting close because Wallace is on fire. You know, admit, like a couple times throughout the game when Keldon lets it fly, I don't know if you do this, but like I'll be like, you know, yeah, that's not going in that's going in, you know, there's just certain guys.
So you could see Wallace in the first release on his first make, I was like man, he looks, it's like a golfer where you went, you're locked in today.
Yeah, he's so, with his makes, it was like, okay, he's in a rhythm and I would say Keldon, I don't exactly feel that way. And he hits two huge threes, but that Harper shot clock three, he gets into his stuff to your point like no one thought this. I mean, there's a reason he went number two, but the comfort that he has, he looks like a guy's been playing for like five years. He played, he plays, that's the best, what you just said is the, you nail on the head, it's the comfort, right, he plays like he's been doing this for like six, seven years and he's already one championships just in terms of his poise.
How he doesn't let players speed him up, like this is a rookie, so rookie, getting full court pressured mold by Wallace, Dort, Caruso, these guys are great defenders, they foul a lot, especially Caruso, he reaches a lot. The whole series, him and castles ability to bring the ball up and everyone talks about castle being like a Jimmy Butler hybrid, no, no, no, no, no, and I love the Jimmy comparisons because there are some similarities there. Way more on the ball ability in terms of dribbling, bringing up the ball being pressured like that for for seven games by Caruso and Dort, castle and Harper, before Fox came back that a fantastic job of being guards that can not only score, but play make I didn't know castle had that ability off the ball as quick as he is.
His harky jerky crossovers being able to get in the paint at will finish to contact in physicality, he's a star and I knew we all knew Harper, like you say, he's a number to pick in the draft, we saw what he did at Rutgers, we all knew he was talented, nobody thought this though I didn't know he was this good.
And it makes you think like a fuse on a team by himself or bad team, he probably would have been a rookie the year candidate with with with coupe and can up on there.
It just shows you how good he is, I thought it was a great job that they kept Fox and they went got Fox and they brought him off the bench.
“I think it's good to do that with some of these talented guys, you just don't give everything to them right away.”
You get a chance to see a good point in guard, you learn behind them, obviously you know the spurs organization works very tactical with how they move and do things. And Harper showed up man, they are big time and they have no weak links on defense, they all can play on both sides of the ball. The cell can do both sides. Harper does both sides, Castle can play on both sides of the ball. Keldon Johnson six minute a year was huge last night, you saw the corner three, he puts that little sling shot behind his head and you just think, is this going in, is this not, but he hits big shots and he's always in the basket physical rebounding, I didn't know Harper, you know my biggest thing with him is I knew he was a crafty guard.
I didn't know he had winning playability because that's not something you see...
So Harper had that game in him, I know he was a shifty guard, talented guard, it took him number two because he could score and play making his great footwork and finishing a ability around the right and that's kind of his thing needs to improve his jump shot that was the stick on Harper. I didn't know Harper was a guy is a rookie at 19 years old, whatever he is, you could just throw him in a game when this guy just makes winning plays versus the greatest team in the NBA in the playoffs.
He's just, he's a big time player man like that whole group that they got with Castle by the way, Carter Bryant another guy and a few like a year or two is going to be a huge piece to that team.
They're loaded and they're good and they're confident and they play hard and they're gritty and they're physical and they're dirty too in a good way all the good teams are. You know, like you could see a younger team being like, hey, these guys keep doing all this stuff and great and overdoing for two and a half.
“Yeah, you saw it to Troy, like I said Stuart went too far with Wendell and he kind of like lost himself some that's what sometimes these young teams do they they did the right amount of it.”
They just go right back at you. They don't get rattle it starts with wimpy. This stoic nature as a leader that is just so, it's likable. He's not even from America, all countries rooting for him, you know, I mean, like I'm starting from here, but we just like him, he reminds me of that that the early honest from like five six years ago, we're just like, how do you not cheer for this dude, he's a winner. You know, I mean, it starts with him, but again, I did not, I knew Castle was good. I knew Harper was good, you know, Castle's a rookie of the year, you know, Harper would have been a candidate on a different team, but still had a fantastic rookie season.
I coached Harper in the rookie challenge year against him in the rookie challenge this year. And that's when I first see, you see a live, I can't move it. I think this kid's good.
I didn't know he did the other stuff. He just he's always in the mix.
That office, a rebound last time was huge. He comes from the other side of the basket, catches it, finishes it, turns right away to pick up full court doesn't celebrate like, bro, that's type of stuff and know how at his age. And his rookie year versus the best offensive team in the NBA. Him and Castle bring up the ball getting pounded like that, still getting into their offense every time. It's impressive. Very impressive. His poise is unbelievable, bro. Big time player. Good God, man, they're good.
You take it into the finals. I got the New York hat. You know, I mean, I play for New York for for two minutes. That seems like a fashion thing though. That's not doesn't seem like you looks like you get that. This is a, this is 100, this is 100, this, this one 100, 100% is a fashion piece. I did not get this at all to to be a member of the New York society. I do love New York City, I love their food, I love their energy, I'm super psyched as I'm sure you're, it's good for basketball to get the next in the finals.
Like, it's just going to be such a series of so much emotion and, you know, to have win be our new biggest star in the NBA, now be playing in the apple. How else would you want it in terms of ratings and views have already been skyrocketed, but now they're going to be, I mean, this is going to be one of the most watched finals probably of all time, special in New York being in it. I have New York due to depth, I have New York due, I'm sorry, I have a, sorry, San Antonio due to depth, and I have San Antonio winning, because I, I think they're the best part of the NBA in the team.
I think Wimbie is the best part in the NBA, and I say that from an aspect of total domination of what he does on the court, there's just no one that does it.
“All right, and I think Shays the best whooper, and that's what we love, Shay, for what Wimbie does, and the impact he has on both sides of the ball, we have never seen shit like this ever.”
And what, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's every team that no one has an answer for him. He shoots three, he shoots fade away three, he goes in basket and he dunks on, there's nothing he can't do, and then he's surrounded by a bunch of dogs. He does, he's not, they don't have soft players, they have dogs, scared foxes of dog, castles of dog, the cells of dog, come to Johnson's a dog.
Harper's a dog, Carter Bryant comes to the game, he's always dirty, he's a dog, they just got dogs on their team, and they're all good guys and they all believe in this guy.
And he has all of their respect, and there's a poise about them, and I just don't see this team losing, I will say if there's any team that New York could have beaten between the two, it is San Antonio. I don't have specific, I mean, I can go into that, but. Well, because, no, I want you to go into a code.
“Well, yeah, if okay, see wins last night, I think okay, see wins the championship.”
San Antonio winning, there's something there to where they are young, all right, I know it hasn't proven. Right, and we just saw these last two weeks, so it's like, well, correct.
Correct, you know, that's just a interject here.
If the next pull this off, it'll be because the spurs were too young, which I think is actually going to be stupid because
when a team with like old guys loses will be like, oh, they're, they're too old. But when a team loses with like prime guys between 27 and 31, we can't say they're young, we can't say they're old. So then we just say that they lose.
“So I think considering what San Antonio just did against this under team, even a limited version of this under team.”
Whatever mistakes, if they were to lose this series, I don't know that we can say all that the spotlight got to bright form. And you can say, oh, well, it's different playing at MSG, is not like okay season easy place to play. Yeah, I think New York can win with two things. One, what we just saw from chat. And again, they're not going to match when we directly with Carl Towns, because Carl would stretch him out.
He's just going to be floating around the perimeter and I would bring him away from the paint. So they're going to put him on Josh Hart and stuff like that. But regardless, there'll be plenty of moments where when we find himself guarding cat. All right. Cat cannot do what Chad just did.
This is, this is one egg. I need, I need cat to be what he's been all playoffs figure out. Times be a playmaker and figure out times to be attacking.
He's got to attack when be when he has opportunities.
He's too good of a score. That's something we need to see. Two, they need guys and hit shots. I know Jalen Bruns is going to do. You know, cat's going to have his moments if OG, but more specifically, because you know,
OG would do his thing. I don't have any problems with him. You know what's Bridges and Hart. If Bridges and Hart can hit shots, they have a chance to win this series. Because that's who Wemby's going to be guarding.
And that's who's going to be left open. So he can just kind of do his thing and mander around and just freelance. If you allow him to do that, you can't beat me. You know, San Antonio, they're too good defensively with all these other guys. They have defending.
They have great defenders with this guy freelancing. They got to make them pay. Coruso made shots. It's what Cruz had a fantastic series and they won games when Cruz had like 20. They won those games because he's hitting shots and it made Wemby be like.
So now Wemby's running out. Now they're driving him and his kick it is kick it. It's kicking. It's kicking next thing. You know, they're getting good looks.
We know Bridges and Hart have been, you know, it's it's it's. You talk about pressure Ryan, I was talking about this last time. My dad. I don't think there will be any more pressure than on any player. Then there will be on Josh and McKell bridges in these playoffs.
Because it's on Broadway.
First off, these games are different.
The lights are just different in that arena. Everyone's just the whole world watches with the next player. Right? They're going to be wide. Scott fucking open.
They're going to be. I mean, you aren't going to take 18 shots again unless he's going to be. They're ending some. Change where they go actually this is we're going to do this because like I'm thinking about the Wemby thing. You're absolutely right.
Same as Allen. Hart, Hart burns him in one of those games. It's probably one of those things where the other team goes. We can live with that. All right.
That's the number one preparation on that.
“I think there's some Mitchell Robinson stuff in there where you go.”
How are you going to want to meet whatever likely. Brunson ball handler is and some of his Mitchell Robinson stuff. They got you. Are you going to want to go out there and contest because the screen is going to be too hard to get around. Get around.
Although if it's castle going into a screen like you know, he's fighting his ass off to get around. If it's Carter Bryant, who they're probably going to sit on Brunson there and he's going to fight like hell to get around some of the stuff. So that allows you to keep Wemby a little bit deeper. But you're absolutely right. Like there's there could be a game one where if Hart lights it up like you did in that Cleveland game.
You're going to go, hey, you can't leave him like this and they're like, well, yeah, we're going to come back tonight. Or we're going to come back in two nights and do the exact same thing again. Yeah, correct. And they're going to, I think even if Josh, like you said, hit shots, I go say, okay, let's see if you do it again. Do it again.
We, if we lose the NBA finals because Josh Hart burnt us from shooting, shooting his ass off. Then then we got a shake his hand and say, hey, man. Great job. You deserve it. You play well.
And Josh is a great player by way. But Josh is great because of all the things he does. Not because he's an outstanding shooting when he makes shots. It's like icing on the cake. It, by the way, Jared Allen closing out versus like someone like Wimbie.
They do that thing. Cornette has really taught him to do the thing. They jump in the air, even as 10 feet away from the basket. So you can't see the basket. It's fucking hard.
And it's also way harder to shoot wide open when the whole crowd is like, And see when you get the ball like, come on, man, you've got to make it. Verse people running you off the line and you're just shooting like quick, not thinking. Verse you having all the time in the world, unmanaged the square garden. And in front of every celebrity that you've ever known in the biggest stage possible in the basketball platform.
And they put in their center on you, which is already a mental thing as a player.
“Like they used to do that, remember they used to do the Russell.”
Remember they put Rudy go bare and Russell Westbrook and it really bothered him. Like you can see it irritate him. It's the mental thing where you're like, they put in the center on me.
It's a thing there.
Now Josh is a new to this.
But Josh has never played the finals.
“And this stage where they're at right now.”
Oh, you talk about pressure on a jump shot man. This game won. Josh is going to be open. And Shem is going to be ready to go. They went to it one time.
Mike Brown trusted him and he came through. And remember Josh was kind of mad. He didn't finish the game with it. Yeah. If Shem is hitting shots, he's going to play or you.
It's just that simple. You talk about an opportunity of a lifetime. Shem it was crawling to be in the league like a year or two ago. This guy has a big game. He's going to be in this rotation in the finals because at some point,
Josh or bridges are going to be missing shots because you know, it just happens. And they're going to like, amen. We can't get anything for brunch and there's no space. It wouldn't be free.
Lansing because the guys these garden aren't hitting shots. They're going to turn a land dream play. Amen. We need you to go in that game and knock some of these things down. So like these are the ifs for New York.
This is because it's only going to open up for brunch. And otherwise, brunch is going to have a hard series man. Like you're talking about ball hawks. And it would have been like that either series. But you got Castle Harper or Carter for sell count.
They're just going to keep them fresh bodies on them. And just keep trying to wear him down. Bruns is going to do what he does. But if guys aren't hitting shots man in the space, things not there and you're allowing wind be to freelance.
Spurs are winning a series.
“So that's that's what I have spurs winning.”
But the next can win this, but they need guys to step up in his shots. You know, it's just going to happen. It's a great win. Because like the way hearts defended you go,
I shoot like 27% from three for his career. And he's 41% in the regular scene. 21% in a great shooting year. He's 30% in playoffs. It's a mental thing.
Much like not in rhythm. Like dare. You're like white open to your point. Yeah. They're awful shots that I used to hit.
But early in my career when I couldn't shoot Ryan. To when I would before I proved that I could like really hit that three consistently. Teams would go so far under. I'd almost stop in the pick and roll. But I guess this was like.
Like come on, bro. But that's what they'll do. They'll be the, that's why I love basketball and sports men. You can't hide. You can't hide out there, man.
And at some point you got it. You, this is going to you're going to see it five, two 30 seconds in the game one.
They're nicks going to come down for their first couple of positions.
You're going to see Josh wide open. And they're going to say, Shoot. I want to see if you can make this shot. Because that is a nerve wracking shot to hit.
It's one thing to be open. But in a nicks uniform and the way they're crowned is you may. They're crowned as you miss a couple. They go back in on the fuck off. It's, that's no joke.
It's like being in failure. Like you know, that's a hard place to be open all series and just consistently. And now Josh has done it. I've given him credit. He's done it, man.
But this is a different thing here. It's a different thing. That cup final nicks had. And I have one final question for you that nicks had 59 rebounds in that game. I was watching the fourth quarter when they blew them out in the fourth quarter.
Mitchell Robinson completely changes that game as a offense of rebounding. He had 10 outfits of boards and dominant intends. His quote was intends to get ready to go for game one of this pinky surgery here. But as I was talking about OKC and San Antonio and moments in the regular season. Whereas like I wish I just had the balls to pull the plug on this prediction.
Like I think San Antonio can do this. And it's like that goes against everything that you've ever understood about this game. But you could also argue like back to back finals. We've had two outliers based on what you expect for teams to potentially win a championship. And that would be like the Pacers last year.
But you go, hey, the Pacers are not supposed to do this without like a definitive top 10 player. And I have a chance of winning a championship. It also depends on where you would rank haliberty. But that doesn't happen.
And then you have this inexperience across the board for the first team.
And I go, you know, even though they just look so good against OKC in the regular season. I just don't know that I can do it. I don't know that I can do it. But the one thing that was bothering me about not having the balls to do it. To make the prediction to say, hey, March whenever it was kind of like February March 1st,
“entering my head of like, I think San Antonio could do this.”
Was that women, y'all been only played 28 minutes. That was the most amount of minutes he'd ever played in a game against OKC. He's got two games of 21, 24, 20, 23, 26. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. 25 minutes in that cup final against the next coming off the bench. All right. Harper was an entirely different guy back then. Yeah.
Yeah. He was a barn there. Right. Harrison Barnes is starting coronet. That's like 50 minutes.
I think with those two guys. So now it's with the nicks. Because I know nicks fans are going to go, hey, we look really good. Like, look at the stuff that we did. Great.
That's a couple of games that cup games shouldn't even be used. It shouldn't even be used for the except for the Mitchell option. Because that's a glaring issue. You know, there's something there that Mitchell was the first to provide. Like that was at halftime.
I'm going, you know, OKC would be getting dumped trucked right now. He would take care of the defensive blast for San Antonio. And then they completely flipped the rebounding script there. But I thought 59 boards in that cup final was at least something to acknowledge. OK.
Final question here.
If we run through the top however many players in the NBA, right?
Like tell me when you agree disagree, when be. YokeHSGA. OK. That next group is look a yawnest still to you. I don't know.
I still be honest in there. He's got to play more games consistently. Sure. Yeah. I had a respect for.
He's been a top five play last seven years in a row. I put put. I put Greek freaking there for sure. All right. So I, I figured we would be aligned on that somewhat.
That next group. It's interesting in that. We haven't named it American yet. It's, it's a scary thing. Right.
And you could.
“Are the brunch and his already like taken the belt for best American play?”
So I'm wondering, like is that where you're at? Even. Yeah. Like not even the running is the outcome of the final. Brunson, Brunson is, I think, the most complete.
I say complete. He's not a great defender. But complete. It's not the right word. Yeah.
But you like. Brunson. Brunson is. Brunson better than him. We got.
I trust Brunson more. Brunson has a way about him in terms of how he plays in the control. Here's the thing. I'll ask you a simple question. Scores 100 to 100.
All right. Your life's on the line. Two minute thought to go in the game. You want Brunson close and out. You want it.
And it's not a long answer because it's fantastic. Yeah. I feel like everyone would say Brunson, but it's, it's one of those things. Or it's like, uh, ant is exactly. Not ant.
That I'm excited that I have to tell you.
“I think, I don't know if there's a right answer to that.”
Um, I, I think, um, that tier. I put Brunson in ant. And then you could almost argue. Cade. And that's it.
That's that name's group. Tatum when healthy. You'd have to. I think Tatum passed it. It'd be acknowledged here.
Correct. Correct. I, again, I just only because he was hurt. But yes, with Tatum. I helped the Tatum's in that group.
Tatum might be in the group before that. Tatum Tatum's in group two. I think he's with the onus is in, uh, uh, uh, uh, Lucas. I think he's right near there. He's like in between that group, or I respectfully.
Um, but yeah, that's, that's our, that's our third tier. Our third tier. And you, you didn't. Perfect. There is a tier that's ahead of everybody else.
It's, it's a, it's a win be Shane Nicola. That they are, they have separated themselves prior to these past couple of years. Yonus was in that group as well. Yonus was tier one. All right.
“I think when Yonus is, like, we got a fully healthy.”
Yeah, I don't even like, you know, and I'm glad you said that. I don't even like saying, Yonuses and a tier one guy. He's a, he's been, I'm not saying.
He's always, he's, I, I think he's a tier one guy.
I, I think Yonus fully healthy is still a top two, three, four player in the NBA. I, I, I just, I, now he hasn't been. And his teams have been awful. Trust me, watch them. But it's, it's the, you know, he's, he's still Yonus.
I put him up there with, with, you know, again, we could do this all day. Cause a lot of people still put Luke up there. They still, just because of a talent standpoint. Terms of talent besides Wemby, Luke is the most talented basketball player we have in the NBA.
He, he, he's, he's remarkable in terms of his skill set. And the way he's able to play at a speed that no one else. Luke plays like he's playing pick up with like his friends. Half the time I didn't even look like he's interested. He, he's, he's so he's too good actually.
He's so good that he's like, it's a, he's like, it's a, he's like lazy in some regards. So he like, he just gets away with not giving his best because he's that good. Do you understand what I'm saying? Like, oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. Luke is just disgusting. So like, there's that group.
But the third tier, yeah, our Americans, our American players would be third tier.
The third tier. I mean, and it's, I would, I think Bronson is the baddest player we have right now. In terms of just getting shit done. If that's where we're just going off the metric because we can't go off talent. Can't be a say complete player because then K to an ant or more of a complete player.
Then, then, then, then, then, then Bronson for what they're able to do. Just all around a game on both sides of the floor. But we just talk about, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll make it vague and kind of, done this down. Let's just say the baddest player right now.
Just whatever that means. We do, it'd be Bronson for what he's done with this team and how he's just every postseason. Just puts him on his back and just closes out games like a moment. Man, you got to give Bronson that respect. The captain.
I have a quick rumor thing here. I don't know if you know the bulls were linked to Kevin Young at BYU. That was a report from this morning. I saw another report this morning. Would your dad then take the BYU job if offered?
Fuck no. Okay. And has anything to do with BYU? Has everything to do with, I don't think that. And I talked about this with Woody when he took the Indian to job.
Right?
The recruiting aspect of today's game and college basketball is not fit for p...
There's a way, and from habits to culture to the way things work,
that are so not even in a line or in the world of how college sports works now, that like my dad recruiting, hopping on these planes, going to pitch to kids. That's what you don't want to do. It's not going to happen. He's going to want to be in a golf course.
He's not doing that. He's not going to go talk to like a 19 year old and have to deal with the parents.
“Because that's what the biggest difference is.”
You don't deal with parents in the NBA. It's a front office decision. You have to be on the same line. You make a decision. You pay someone or you don't know you trade them.
It's that simple. Ownership. It's all tied in. College, you got to talk to the mom and the dad and you make promises. And then two months later, the cake can just be like, ah, we're going to transfer
to make more money here and go there. It's not happening. My dad's not built for it. What he said, the most underestimated thing he underestimated was recruiting. He was like, holy.
And he, you know, so no, not be why you. I don't see it. And if it was a college, it wouldn't be be why you. It'd be like something you talked on the up. They are on the other side.
I mean, I mean, I mean, yeah, right now they got the most important and hardest
pick in the draft though. Number one's a shoe in at this point. It's not anybody says anybody other than AJ. I would say something. I'm a Peterson guy.
You think Peterson's going to be the number one pick in the draft? No, I would pick Peterson one. Really? Yeah. See, I don't even think Peterson gets picked too.
I think Utah drafts Caleb Wilson. No shit. I do.
“Are you drafting Peterson says what the county George?”
You're not good enough. Do you draft a camp booser? You can say how much is how much is Tony Jackson making? Yeah. That's another thing.
Yeah. So it's, but again, they have Jared. You have Kessler. You have a market and they got plenty of sauce down there. Caleb Wilson is like a Kevin Gardner.
I don't know what this dude is. His highlight, the watching him plays an app. The peak Caleb Wilson stuff is. It's hard to turn off the screen and go. I want somebody other than that guy.
Yeah. You just put him out there and see what happens. Again, I like Peterson too, man. Peterson reminds me of like Gilbert Arena's prime. Gilbert Arena's.
Here reminds me of like peak Gilbert. I don't, some of the stuff this year really just turns. But I don't like some of this stuff, man. The not playing. I'm going to try to get a pass on it.
Honestly, like I don't believe the creatine story at all. And I would say zero people I ran into with the combine. Yeah. Yeah. So imagine to like, hey, what's going on?
I don't know. My body is not responding. What are you doing anything different? I'm taking creatine. All right.
Well, you could be the number one pick of the drive. How will we stop taking that brand of creatine? Yeah. Just keep taking it. Just keep taking it, man.
No worry about it. Yeah. I don't know about that. But yeah. I don't care.
Well, some two, man. I like Peterson. I think Peterson goes three to Memphis. Campbell's was four. And then after that, it's a free fall.
I mean, it's any of those guys. The kid be the kid from Illinois. I like the Gar from Illinois's, you know. Yeah. Well, I have you on the drive.
Yeah. That'd be great. My man. Thank you. Appreciate it.
I always, man. Appreciate you. Anytime. Anytime. What if you can add an AI assistant to your work?

Arsenal. Give me the breakdown. Who should I be rooting for? And it was. It wasn't the best game.
I had a pretty bad soccer tweet that I was thinking about doing. But I don't do those really anymore. Where I was going to say, that's going to be the worst world. That's going to be the worst world cup final ever. Nice.
There you go. That might have played. But well, people. People have gone because they don't understand the humor still. Yeah, but there was a guy.
“You remember the guy who asked, um, you know, a bashon spine tiger is.”
He played for fire Munich. Probably not. But of course I do. He, uh, he went to World Cup Germany. And then he signed with a Chicago fire and one of the reporters, which is an MLS team.
And one of the first questions the reporter asked him was like, do you think you could win the world cup with a Chicago fire?
It's like, all right, welcome to welcome to US soccer culture.
We're here. Let's go. Are you, what was the serious question? Yeah, unfortunately. It was not a good look.
Um, but hey, we've grown since that.
“I think that was, you know, how did I maybe five, six, seven years ago?”
I forgot about that with bashon. So give me, um, give me the loadout. Like, this is your world. So I want to stay out of the way. Yeah.
First up, I'm happy you watched the game. The thing that sucks. We talked about this after is like, I feel like a lot of, and I'm not one of those soccer fans. Who's like, I need you to watch soccer. If you're not watching soccer, you're like, you're doing it wrong.
I don't really care. I mean, I enjoy it. Like, I get why people don't like it. I'd really like to sport.
But the problem is when, when, when a lot of like the,
Very casual soccer fans are like, hey, I'll just, I'll watch the final today. Any final could be woke up final. It could be a, a Champions League final. Those games usually count of suck because that both teams are just a Fraid to, to make a mistake. And so they end up being these like, cagey games where they kind of
Keep the ball around. No one really takes any real chance. I mean, Arsenal had 25% possession that game. It was a, and again, they went up one nil. So it was like, it was probably the right call and then bite in the ass in the end.
But like, it was a, even I would say it's a horrible game to watch. Oh, wow. Yeah, because you were telling me, like, Arsenal's kind of an annoying team to watch play. So I went, okay, what about that? It's in the first goals incredible six minutes in.
But then they put up that graphic where PSGA completed 99 passes to Arsenal's 17. And the possession was even more dramatic of what you were talking about. And I was even thinking, this feels a little early for the 442 alignment here from Arsenal. Is that what they do? They just hang back, especially up one nil.
So I don't know if that influence what they were doing.
“But is that generally what happens in an Arsenal game, or they just pack it in?”
And we got to be great. What? Because Arsenal fans, there's a lot of OKC parallels here. Like, the fan base is kind of kind of sensitive. And I shop at the good dillers.
They are, they're a tough watch. I do not enjoy watching Arsenal play. We're at times like I don't enjoy watching OKC play. That doesn't mean it's not effective. That doesn't mean they're not good teams.
And it doesn't mean they don't have good players. They do. PSG is like a different beast. So PSG has, I mean they have some of the best attacking players in the world. They have unlimited money.
They're back by like, what is it? The Atari sovereign wealth fund or whatever. So like there's, there's levels. There's not that Arsenal don't have money. Arsenal have a ton of money, too.
It's just kind of like, it's just a different level to it. But, um, no, I mean, Arsenal did bash all season because, and they by the way, they had a parade today because they won the Premier League, which was like the most, I feel like, I don't know. It was the most depressing parade, like less than 24 hours after you lose
and devastating fashion and shame.
And you finally have to celebrate this other trophy that you won that was a big deal.
But now like, it just kind of a bummer. And, uh, so that was weird. But Arsenal got this maybe. How yeah, it would seem fair. I mean, it was a tough, tough loss.
I mean, that penalty. They missed two penalties where the guys just didn't even get the shot target. So that's not, that's not what you're looking for. But Arsenal have this thing all season where they've kind of exploited the rules a little bit where they on corner kick set pieces.
Like, they do this thing called Dark at the Dark Arts at the other clubs, like the call where they'll kind of fuck with the goalkeeper. And technically, it's not legal, but they've just not really been calling it all season. And so it's kind of like the OKC thing where like, are you going to call everything? Like, are you going to, now there's not quite the back and forth of like, OKC.
Wanting those calls on one end and then not receiving them on the other. But Arsenal kind of has this like negative stigma to them because of the way they play. And I'm one of those people who's like, hey, you guys spend a ton of money. Have a lot of really good players and you play kind of like your team fighting for relegation. And that's so little bit what they did in the Champions League final, which is kind of not fair again because PSG,
they get, they go up one no against PSG on this weird deflection goal in the six minutes. And you know, you hate to say they scored to early, but that's kind of the, that's kind of like the veiling thought because you're like, OK, then that makes you play completely differently than you would have if the game was still nil nil and maybe you're playing to try to score and win. But I would say, I mean, we didn't need extra time in that game at all. Like, that's that game was awful.
And honestly, the PSG, like, to knock PSG too, like, they kind of just, they had a lot of possession quote unquote, but they just kind of kicked the ball around for what they had no answers for Arsenal. We're doing other than the penalty, which was a penalty. Arsenal did do a good job of just sitting back and basically making it impossible for PSG to do anything.
“But like, again, that's why it wasn't a great watch.”
Like, that's typically what happens in a final, especially one team. Like, last year was five nil. PSG beat Inter Milan, five nil, and that game was insane. It was over in the first, like, 20 minutes. This one Arsenal's a little bit better than last year's Inter Milan. I love the Chamberings League.
You know that about me. I wasn't locked in.
I guess it's going to make sure I paint, but then it's like, OK, is it always this time of year?
So when the hell was I ever, I don't know what happened that. I had, like, a couple years stretch where I was like locked into it a little bit. I never talked about it. I just didn't show up. It's not paramount plus.
You got to kind of find it now a little bit more.
I mean, the finals, and I think the semi final were on CBS, but, and by the way, the semi final,
like, by your Munich versus PSG, the first leg of that, because there's two legs, was five four.
So it's not like, you know, there are goals. It's just what they just weren't goals in the final. I'm not even not a goal. Not enough goals guy. Maybe five four would make it a more exciting game.
If it were average score was like five to four, then maybe more people would feel like. But even eyes and uneducated viewer for the whole thing. Like when PSG's going in with these subs that look like they're all running like ten second, hundred yard dashes, hundred meter, I should say. You know, these skies in the outside, but like that one guy that got free.
He takes a terrible angle and he just kicks in on the side of the net. You're sorry. So yeah. Yeah, like what do you do? You just wicked fast and.
I mean, PSG basically just has like a lot of these just young French dudes who are just absurd. Athletes and incredibly talented and then any French dude who's good.
Basically goes to PSG because they have more money than everybody else in the league.
So it's it's a little unfair.
“But that's why like they're they're domestically legal is they went it pretty much every year.”
They've there's been a few little outliers, but the Champions League is like the thing that had to loot at them for a while. Now they want it back to back years. I will say, um, World Cup heading up. We're all excited about it.
It's an expanded field. So there's like 48 teams now, just kind of annoying. So it makes it more complicated. But what was cool about the last World Cup final Argentina. France is obviously a messy and Vapae just incredible.
You know, obviously these two incredible rosters, but the game lived up to the hype. You know, like it wasn't that was one of the best sporting events I've ever watched. And I think for for a lot of people who just tuned in and didn't really know much about soccer. Like that was a great advertising for the sport. Like this was what the sport can be yesterday's game and a lot of arsenal games.
Unfortunately are not that the crazy thing is like two, three years ago. They were, they were one five goals a game. They were incredible. And then they had this sort of shift and I don't know. I mean, if they certainly had some injuries the last few years, but they kind of played this incredibly. I don't know boring and almost a frayed style, which again, one of them, the Premier League titles.
So it's hard for me to knock them, but it also, you know, It's hard for me to feel bad for Arsenal yesterday when they basically didn't do anything for most of the game. Did Fullham not go far? Fullham we're, uh, they finished 10th, 10th in the Premier League, which is a good finish for them. They're, that's, that's like they're safely in the Premier League.
That's kind of where they are.
They're never going to probably compete for like the highest.
I mean, they're all not going to get. Oh, no, no, no, the top, the top five teams in the Premier League make the Champions League. So they got to finish top five in that. Is it top five in all the European leagues then? It's top five in.
So basically of the major four leagues, so it's England, Germany, Italy and Spain. They either get, they get four teams and then every year. Two of those get a 15 based on how they perform. So those are not like an SEC big 10 college football expansion proposal where it's like, Hey, EPL gets six in the rest of you.
They almost got six actually this year because of like a weird, like, uh, standing thing, uh, with Astin Villa, but no, that's not, that's not how they do it. Yeah, like in CS schools.
“I think that was the, that was the key to the super league thing is like,”
hey, we'll give you each at least four teams where it used to be like two or three. Uh, so it's much better now. Kind of. When's the pod coming out? I know you already have an episode out, right?
We have an episode out talking about the US roster drop and then we're going to do a big World Cup preview probably two parts next week, middle next week. I think I'm going to tape it when we're in San Antonio and Wednesday. Name of the pod. It's just soccer, Mike Mickey, former MLS MVP.
I think he's the only, we were joking about this. I don't know if there's been any MVP who's had a show at Barstall. So he might be the first, and then my guy Samuel Army, who is just Tottenham fan. So he was happy about yesterday Tottenham's first on like each other. It's Tottenham and Arsenal.

I had a had a 10 38 AM stake on the grill just because I'm leaving tomorrow. And I was like, this is going to go bad. And I got dinner with my parents tonight. And I was like the math just says, I have to have this. I can't have it after we're done.
So it's like I better. Better cook up this strip before we. And I've just been feeling it. Wait. It's like a sort of 11.
By the way, so you made this thing eight in 20 minutes. And you're just sitting there. Just. Yeah. Full bonus day.
I guess I think that least are now. No. No. Straight state. medium.
But yeah. I guess I could have thrown it in the freezer. But I just, I don't know.
“I think something happens when you when you saw something out like that.”
So I was just like, I was thinking about it at 9 30 last night. I'm like, don't eat late. Don't do that to yourself. But then I think this may be worse. I don't know.
That's wild man.
I was going to never disappoint.
It was going to be bad by the time I got back from Sanitone. So I was just like, I love it. I have a choice. I love the move. I love the cost effectiveness of it all.
You were really planning out stuff. I've got some fresh juices, Kyle. I'm like, are you going to have to go through juices a day? Sunday Monday? I thought the same thing.
I was like, you could probably freeze one. I'm like, I don't know, cold press. Yeah, you let a price of your product like that goes bad. It feels like you just disappointed all your ancestors. You know, back when, you know, food was sour.
You're fine. I was like, I'm so fucking sick of these things going bad. And it was immediately bad as I cut into it. And I went, you don't need to do this. I go, I fucking had it.
I've had it with these things. I'm all the time. My avocado rates like not even close to 50%. Yeah. That's the price.
Yeah. You know, you're trying to time it out right. Feel them like, oh, I'm going to have this time that you just tonight. And then whatever. I just going to be better.
I guess it was always the joke.
It's agree. You want to go out tonight. It's like, no, I have an avocado. This can be right between like five and six p.m. Some kind of time.
Exactly. It's good. Saving that. To me. That's funny.
That's just life. Yeah.
“Did you buy the steak for an occasion, Kyle, though, or is it just like you just bought it?”
I bought it. I was like, you know what? Let's do a smaller grocery trip this week. You know, just because you are going to be going somewhere. So, you know, just get a couple of supplemental things.
And then like a dinner popped up and have it on Friday. Saturday. I let I let it go too late. We went to a movie. Saw back rooms.
It was confusing. Good. And then. Yeah. It was just too late.
And I was like, I'm not going to have it later. And I was like, you know, then my parents called last night. We're like, we do want to come over to dinner on Sunday. I'm like, all right. I guess I have to do this.
And guess what we're having for dinner tonight. Stake. So I just. I just. I just.
Right. It's out. Yeah. Yeah. It's a lot of salads in San Antonio apparently.
Yeah. Definitely. Definitely. I'm sorry.
“Did you get anything on the docket for San Antonio?”
You're getting lined up. I mean, I was just there for the final four last year. Yeah. Nothing really jumped out to me. Nothing really jumped out to me.
Honestly. I mean, that was just such a party that it was like. Anywhere you go on the riverwalk is just like, this is going to be, you know, 40% worse than it would have been if there was a regular day. So I don't know.
Maybe we'll see what see what the final springs. The final four was full of maniacs. I've never been. I mean, it's one of the few American cities that I've never been to. Yeah.
Riverwalk's cool. You should check it out. I'm not including the Dakota's because I haven't been there yet. But they don't have the final. It's a big yet.
Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let's see here. All right.
My wife. My mom gifted me a puppy and it blew up a relationship. 30 years old, 65, 225 player comp, poor man's Tim Duncan. Oh. She.
Well, this is a poor man's Tim Duncan. Possible. Honest. I'm going to get his name right. It's like when that guy called himself an eight and we're like, oh, no, we just got to talk about this.
What do you think that means? We haven't. We haven't got to had a guy called himself an eight since that part of my mom. Yeah.
In 2024, my mom got the puppy for Christmas.
We had never discussed it.
She gave me no warning. And one day a 10 week old untrained puppy just showed up at my apartment door. I was excited for a few hours. They hit me that this dog was now my responsibility for the next decade. So I decided to keep him make it work.
Well, yeah, thank you for your service. I've invested a lot of time in money and training him. And honestly, he's a great dog. He sleeps through the night, does fine at home alone. Rarely barks gets along well with people in other dogs.
The thing is, well, I love the dog. I would never have gotten a puppy on my own. Maybe 25% of the time I'm really glad. The other 75% are wondering how I ended up in this situation. What frustrates me most isn't just the dog.
It's how it happened. My mom picked out the puppy named him and had him delivered to my one bedroom apartment without ever asking whether I wanted a dog. Some of the reasons I'm still upset. Money.
My monthly expenses went up by $700 over night between dog walking, training, grooming, insurance, vet bills, food, and boarding when I travel. Lifestyle. I liked having a predictable routine. Puppies are chaos, middle of the night wakeups.
Emergency vet visits and constant supervision are not my thing. Gil, my job can be demanding. When I'm working long hours, I feel bad leaving him home alone.
And I don't always have the energy to give him the exercise and attention he deserves.
Freedom. Every planned out revolves around the dog. No spontaneous weekend trips. No let's play another 18 with the boys. Our nights and unexpectedly turned into mornings unless I range and pay for care.
This is put a real strain on my relationship with my mom. We barely speak now. A few months after she got me the dog. She asked what was wrong. I told her that the dog had been a major challenge
and that I wasn't happy about how this all happened. She acknowledged that but never apologized. I love my mom. But I wish she'd never put me in this position. I've basically iced her out for the last year and a half because I wanted to understand how much she overstepped.
Now we're to sell me. I think she's waiting for her. Thank you. I'm waiting for an apology. The thank you isn't coming before the apology.
Am I overreacting? Or do I have a right to still be pissed? Big fan of the show. Cheers.
“You must have preemptively answered some questions which is an awesome strategy.”
Thanks. Why do you think she got you the dog? No clue. My best guess is she thought I was lonely or wanted to help with it. Yeah, I knew like that's what I figured because he said.
But there's a difference between lonely and people like man he has lost. Is there really fucking people told me to get a dog?
Yeah, but they would never have the balls to give it to you.
I guess not enough. My mom's are in their own tier. But I'm like, there's a difference between being lonely and are people concerned about you for other reasons than just that you live alone? And if you're saying no, then this isn't saying.
Yeah, he's a little bit of a big dog. We're still a little of the dog though. I mean, just one of the things I just cannot picture. Not the don't like dogs, but I just, there's just no way. If I had some acreage, you know, and if I had a wife that was like, hey,
I really want a dog, I think I would immediately be so excited about it. That's fine. I was thinking about it recently. Yeah. I was thinking about having like a little acreage dog in the pickup truck.
Maybe I'm just listening to too much Casey Muscribs lately. I don't know what it is. I get it. She's unbelievable. I got to stop listening to her.
You like to new album? I like that all. Go on. Incredible. Yeah.
I don't have. I don't know enough about her. Yeah. Like, so if you said the new album was last week or told me it was five years ago, I would go, I was just going to say, I kind of lied down just there.
That's all the matter.
“I think that's the one I've mostly locked into.”
But I started thinking about Casey Muscribs. I started thinking about acreage. I started thinking about getting the duly. And then I was like, but then it's like, we just cost playing some fucking loser. Yeah.
Or a winner. Yeah. No, but I actually met the dog. I was like trying to figure out like what would be a cool one. And the whole thing.
And I was like, and then it was like four minutes later. Snaped out of it. Probably was on June. I was on pet finder last week. Thinking what if?
I was like, it's starting to feel like a reality, you know? Get down to zero rap. Maybe even one. Maybe even one. I think about pulling the trigger.
I want to jump into that zero probably pretty quick. Yeah. What do you want to name them, Kyle? The finisher. That's not really a dog name.
Is now. All right. So I love that this guy did this. Again, why did she get it? My best guess.
She thought I was lonely or wanted to help me meet women. I'd recently moved across the country of your work. But I have a good group of friends. It wasn't exactly struggling socially. There we go.
I've talked much since then. I was never great about calling home regularly, but I've always shown up for holidays and important family events. I'm also fortunate enough to help my family financially when needed. We weren't talking every day before this.
Our communication has dropped after medically since the puppy showed up. And finally, just your mom have experienced with dogs. Ironically, I always wanted a dog as a kid. And she always said, no, my younger siblings got two dogs during COVID.
“So she does have experience, but I think it's very different when you have multiple people helping out”
a backyard. Another dogs around.
I live alone in a one bedroom apartment.
All right. Well, this isn't saying now that we know that you're not, you know, people aren't worried about you. This isn't saying because this is like a, you'd expect this from like your wild card uncle.
You know, I mean, you'd be like, I, Steve, Steve just does stuff like that. I don't know. Restop it. But your mom, you know, that's crazy.
I guess what I would say is like, would it feel like giving up if you were like,
“maybe one of your siblings or, or honestly, preferably or mom,”
would it feel like giving up if you're like, you know, I can't really do this. I think I need you, you know, let's meet up and why don't you, why don't you take up? Does that off the table for you?
And you're just like, I'm going to, I'm going to be better about this and struggle through it until this dog is fully trained. You know, could you maybe like pay for a trainer if you're financially sound? Maybe just get this, maybe a little bit more, you know, tighten up around the house.
There's like, I've either dog walkers like, what, what constitutes a, you know, a winner lost for you with this dog situation? It's my question. The thing that stands out to me is like you, it's the classic mom thing because my mom will do this and like,
you know, we'll have our moms, but they feel like that's okay. You're like bananas. And then like every time she comes over, there's 15 bananas. And it's just like, alright, yeah, I know I like bananas like one time, but like I don't want, but I don't need bananas all the time.
And you, you said you liked a dog, you always wanted a dog.
Your mom's like, this is going to be awesome. I'll get him a dog. And it's just, it's, it's, so it sucks. I think, I think it's totally fair for you to, I mean, how much time has passed?
Like you probably should have done this earlier than now. You've made it work good for you. Dogs are awesome. I've got two of them, but I also have a lot of help here. And you know, I've got two kids too.
So the dogs are actually like the least of the, of the problem in the house at this point in my life. But like you probably needed to do this like early on and be like, hey, this is not a responsibility I'm willing to do. To Kyle's point, can you do that now?
I think so. Yeah, I don't, well, he says the relationship is, It's not a bad shirt, man. You're going to just be like, do you keep the gift for seat? Right.
But you can just kind of ignore a dog. If this is something that needs to be addressed. So I, right. The banana thing is so good, sir Rudy. You know, because the other two siblings got dogs.
Hey, look at them. She's probably worried about you at 30 if you're not a serious relationship. If that's some sort of priority. Some families like really can get weird about it. They're comparing your old timelines with yours and be like, man,
you're like five years behind already. Yeah. No, I'm sorry. Some are.
I don't really, I never got like any kind of pressure like that.
I think my parents like to give up a long time ago. But I, I can see her. Being like, hey, this has worked out over here. She's not thinking about all the logistical things that you're thinking about. And, you know, I'd say, too, like, I've noticed as parents.
And then sometimes even like a grandparent, it gets older if there's like a guilt of not having like enough of a relationship.
“And I'm not saying that's what you're going through here.”
But that there can be this like overcompensation dramatic move. To be like, I want to do something, you know what I mean? Like, I can imagine if I had a stretch with a child and say they were in their 20s. And then I'm kind of like going, you know, you haven't really put enough effort in. And it should be on you as the parent first.
And it's like, you know, I want to do something really special for this person. I want to go on a trip with them. I mean, some families are great with this stuff. They always make sure they always have activities planned.
They always visit each other.
They go in vacations together. They all get along. Like, some families are unbelievable with that stuff. So I'm just wondering, maybe if you don't have a lot of that in your, your backlog that she may have like completely gone the wrong way,
where intentions were to overcompensate from some distance. And she just wasn't thinking rationally even though it's obviously coming from an awesome place. Thinking like he always wanted a dog. The other kids have dogs like this will be great. Like he'll have his dog.
And I don't know if that helps you try to understand her motivation as opposed to looking at her motivation being like,
“she didn't want it in convenience you, but that's the only way that you're looking at this.”
And you're probably going to have to throw out all your annoyance from this. Now is where what a year and a half in. You're not getting rid of the dog, right? So you're going to probably, you're going to have to have some sort of moment where you stop thinking about it and obsessing over how much it pisses you off. You're like, okay, well, look, fundamentally the first thing is what I'm keeping the dog for as long as I'm keeping the dog.
I don't keep it in my mom. So it, it feels a little bit like you're going to regret. You're going to regret this time this boy. Even if I completely understand like if my mother had done this to me, I'd be like, what are you doing? And I would go through the same thing.
But like the quicker you get to some sort of resolution, the more later on you're not going to regret. Like what do you want to have four years of this strain relationship with your mom over something that you're still going to have and keep. Yeah, headline is don't I thought your mom and I got to find a way through this.
All right.
Next email. Oh, let's see here. Oh, this is a good one. I think it's easy, too. What's up?
Listener since the Spotify days.
Wow. It was all the way back. 27, 64, 171.
“No impressive gym stats, but I'm trying.”
Good. 64, 171. That's lean. Yeah. He's tweeting today.
Be like, back off a fucking check guys. Pick up comp is dark with no post game or three point shots, strictly mid ranges in here. They're going to die. They're conducting. Oh my god.
Guys, it going for it. Or a steal. Yes, it happened. To let my knee to your help with a former coworker of mine, whom I barely know invited me in or. Girl, wait a minute.
A former coworker of mine, whom I barely know invited me in my girlfriend to her wedding. She left my workplace probably 18 months ago and since then, I have seen her very occasionally in events hosted by mutual friends. We're friendly, but have little in common and nothing really talk about beyond your basic small talk.
Before she left the workplace, she was sort of a person that if I saw her alone in the lunchroom, or I walked in, I'd make excuse about being too busy to have a proper lunch break. So I sit by myself instead of having to make awkward conversation with her. Safe to say, we are not close. In the last few times, I saw her.
She mentioned that she would send me a quote save the date for the wedding. I sort of laughed it off about committing assuming she was just being polite. Loan behold the save the save the date arrived recently. Four months out from the wedding. That seems, is that?
That's a little. Timeline. Yeah, that doesn't, that sounds like a bee list. That's a relation. That's a rush.
Yeah, right. Okay. I don't know. I thought I had no option, but to think her and say, I would attend. Hmm.
Why?
“My question is basically, is there any way I could get out of going to this?”
I barely know this person.
My girlfriend and I only met her fiance for the first time in a mutual friend's wedding.
Maybe a month ago. He also did not remember my girlfriend the next time we saw them. I'm not stoked at having to give them $700 to attend something I don't want to go to. It feels like I was only invited just to make up the numbers. So they can break even on the cost.
Any advice from the council would be appreciated. Thanks, boys. I think. You either go RSVP no no gift or RSVP no. You know, hopefully there's like a physical dog.
Yeah. Hopefully there's like a physical thing. That's like salad spoon or something. We'll cheese plate something under the radar. Cousins, christening, sick uncle.
How many of you want to name here? You don't want to go. You don't even want to be, you're not actually friends with the person. So you barely see them. Yeah.
Like, it's not even like you're going to like be, you know, I mean, you may see them like a couple times a year, but it's like, okay. Yeah. You're on the cold through. Yeah. It's crazy.
Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how the higher cost weddings work, but I mean, usually you're open like less heads. You get a, you get a head count towards the end and you might, you know, get a little bit off the catering. Unless it's, unless with the big ones, it's like, listen, this is the flat rate.
You can get up to 250,000 a matter. We're going to knock your socks off with this presentation. But for us, it was just like, man,
“really hoping some of these come back knows because, you know, we're, you know, I think you think 10 to 20% won't come.”
So those were kind of reliefs. I don't know if she's had a little too much of that and she's trying to make up for it. Again, I only know my wedding experience, but, you know, Sounds like she's just putting up shots if she's like really England to come here. So, you know, people want to just turn fall in for it too, though.
And then they're just like, hey, if we invite more people back down. She might not have any friends. She's even lunch by herself for two years. Yeah, he didn't send us on your feet, right? He just said in person, yeah, it sounds good.
And then who knows what happened? Anything in the world that you want to say could have happened. Because air is no one. That's the choice. No one would say, hey, you know, I'm going to invite you to my wedding.
You're like, I don't want to go. [laughter] When it's actually this bridge, you're here. [laughter] Yeah, I didn't even tell you when it was through to you.
That's perfect. I'm just telling you, I'm not going.
Normally, these are always because of your worry about what happens if I don't after the
fact, you don't care about the after the fact. This is very simple. Yeah, Godspeed dude. There's really no, you really shouldn't even feel guilty about that. And what's so nice is you can even, if it's an online thing now,
there's a little comment boxes to why you're not coming. You know, make up a great story, man. You know what I mean? There won't even need to be a single text. That's pretty shingles.
[laughter] Just feel something coming on, I don't know. It's going to be sunny. First Sunday, pot, ever. God bless.
Is it? I don't know. Maybe. For this shot of San Antonio. Yeah, yeah.
San Antonio can do that too, guy. We haven't even really talked about where we're going. We're doing a cool thing in the near arena. Dude, I was so locked in last night. It's like, I got real stakes because you nighted cancel our flights to Oklahoma City,
Which was going to be a-- it was basically the difference between booking a n...
taking the one to San Antonio that we already had.
There wasn't a good way to go direct.
“So it was like, new connecting flight to Oklahoma City,”
or direct to San Antonio that I already have. So I was heavy on this person. I was super, you know, draft king's, wow, I'm talking to you nighted stuff. Maybe take time. Yeah.
[laughter] Dylan Harper, three goes in. Oh, man.
Kyle's never been more invested in a basketball game just like that.
That was-- I was lit last night watching that game. And he said we were going to-- What's that?
“And he celebrated what stakes in the morning for--”
[laughter] Look, right here. That's the Texas's fuck, isn't it? Yeah. It's not pre-texist.
It's not pre-workout and pre-texisting. Yeah. Well, good. I'm glad you had a stake. And I'm glad you had a Texas.
And we will be there for the big unveiling of like a new NBA final thing that the NBA is doing. There's going to be a bunch of different shows that are going to be there. So we're going to be in the arena doing that.
And then that'll be my first ever spurs game in San Antonio.
“So I think we're still trying to figure out tickets for Game 1 for that one.”
But that's the plan. So we'll actually not be on the show. Monday, we'll do probably a later Tuesday release preview. Probably a couple of guests. I'll probably preview up some stuff.
Go back and watch on the regular season things. And then I think maybe Wednesday we're going to try to do a late night thing. So that way we're not like stuck. Or I might just stay for Game 2. Say fuck it.
I like it here. Oh my dog agrees. Yeah, buy a dog. Maybe get some acreage. But guess what guys?
New plan. All those passionate tax decrees that I was screaming about years ago. I backed it up. Moving to Texas West Texas ride. I know.
I hope West Texas Jake is doing well. So that's so West Texas. Jacob is not checking again. That's so Jake. Love him.
Yeah. Love that about him. The ride we're still showing show bars still sports. Two.
