Good evening, and welcome to this sleepy bookshelf.

This season, which is exclusively for our premium listeners, we are reading "Bear Wolf".

This will be an extra long premium series this season, as a thank you for being with us

and a show of our appreciation. "Bear Wolf" is a fascinating piece of historical literature, as it is written

by an anonymous Saxon poet.

The text is the only surviving copy, and we will be reading the translation by Leslie Hall,

a professor of English and History in the College of William and Mary in 1892.

You know our listeners are as unique as our novels and lucky for you.

Our bookshelf is varied, with lots of different types of stories to love you into a deep

sleep. This is just a preview, to give you an idea of what to expect from this season. "Bear Wolf" is a poem, sat in Scandinavia between the 5th and 6th centuries. "Bear Wolf", a hero of the Geets, comes to the rescue of Frothgar, the King of the Deans, whose meat hole has been under attack from a mysterious monster named Grendel for 12 years.

The story has vivid descriptions of the landscape of Scandinavia, incredibly vivid characters,

the wonderful rhythm in cadence that I think will be perfect to help you drift off to sleep.

We hope you will join us for this season, however, if you decide that Bayer Wolf just isn't your cup of tea, feel free to explore the rest of the bookshelf, we are sure you'll find something to help guide you into a rest full sleep. If you would like to listen to this series, but you are not yet a premium subscriber, you can sign up whenever you'd like, for a 7 day free trial, and listen to bonus content
