This is trivia for kids, where it's not just for adults anymore.
It's cold out there.
Two guys didn't have school today, I said, "Brr."
It's cold outside, how cold is it outside today? Right now it's negative three degrees, the highest negative one in the lowest negative 16. And the windshield is minus 38. So, no school for you guys. Yeah, yeah.
It's kind of a snow day. It does count as a snow day. It's a snow-free snow day. Not a podcast-free snow day though, so we didn't even say who we were. I'm Casey.
And I'm Ren.
And do you want to hear some jokes?
Yeah. Joke number one comes from William, who is 10 and from San Diego, California. Thank you, William.
“What do you call a mischievous onion that likes hip hop?”
I'm not sure. A wrap scallion. Joke number two comes from Melrose, who is from California. Thank you, Melrose. What is an Owl's favorite TV streaming service?
I don't know. That's a good one. And our last joke comes from Lydia and Roger from Minnesota. Thank you, Lydia and Roger. What did the Lollipop say as it was escaping from jail?
So long suckers. That's hilarious. Lollipop says so long suckers. Good one. All right.
Thank you for the jokes, everybody. Ren, it's freezing. We might as well do trivia. Yeah. Let's go.
Let's go. Here's how the show works. To be a for kids consists of five rounds with seven questions each. We will announce the answers at the end of each round. Each new round will have a different category.
After the fifth round, we will have the final exam, which will test you on the toughest questions. We have covered in the previous rounds. Everyone ready? Let's get started. Round number one, the category is Disney movies.
Question one.
In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which dwarf never speaks.
Question two.
“In Kanokio, what animal does Kanokio turn into when he misbehaves?”
A donkey, an elephant, or a mouse? Question three. In Dumbo, what special ability does Dumbo discover? Question four. In Aladdin, what is the entrance to the cave of wonders in the shape of?
Question five. In Finding Dory, what kind of animal is Hank? Question six. In the Incredibles, what is the mom's superhero name? Question seven.
In Big Hero 6, what city is the story set in? Parent challenge. In Frozen, which Disney character secretly makes a special appearance in the coronation scene? And now the round one answers. Question one.
“In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which dwarf never speaks?”
Don't be. Don't be is the only one who doesn't speak. And he, in my opinion, is the cutest. Him and Bashful are my favorites. Question two.
In Kanokio, what animal does Kanokio turn into when he lies and misbehaves? A donkey, an elephant, or a mouse?
Donkey.
You're right in Disney's Pinocchio when Pinocchio misbehaves and visits pleasure island. He turns into a donkey as punishment for his laziness and rule breaking. A transformation that begins with donkey ears and a tail, culminating in full donkey features and bragging after he's sold into labor. So the noise that donkey makes like that.
He, ah, he, ah. That's called bragging. And that's what happens to Pinocchio. Question three.
“In Dumbo, what special ability does Dumbo discover?”
Movie. What happens when he moves his ears? When he flaps his ears, he can fly. Because he uses his ears like wings. Question four.
In Aladdin, what is the entrance to the cave of wonders in the shape of? Oh, the tiger. It is in the shape of a tiger's head. You are right. Every time somebody says cave of wonders, I want to go.
What? Cave of wonders? What? That's what Yago says.
It always makes me want to say it.
Question five. In finding Dory, what kind of animal is Hank? Octopus. He is an octopus. Technically, he's a octopus because he only has seven arms, not eight arms.
So eight means octo. And he only has seven. And seven means septo. So he's an octopus. Do you have one?
Probably like monopos, maybe? Question six.
“In the Incredibles, what is the mom's superhero name?”
Is she scratchy? Her name is Alastagirl. You know how she can stretch out, her arms will spread way out. And she can pull things together. She turns into a balloon in that one.
Like a parachute to I remember. She's real stretchy. Question seven. In Big Hero Six. What city is the story set in?
Washington.
The answer is San Fran Socio.
It is a futuristic mix of San Francisco and Tokyo. San Fran Socio. Parent Challenge. In Frozen, which Disney character secretly makes a special appearance in the coronation scene. It won Big Yeti.
The answer is Rapunzel. So in the scene where Elsa is turning into the queen, where it's her coronation, where they're giving her the crown, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider appear briefly in the crowd. It's true I've seen it.
So if you pause it just right, and you look into the crowd of people, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are there. Crazy. Round two. The category is Baby Animals.
Question one. A signet is a Baby What? Swan? Mouse? Or Kuala?
Question two.
“What Baby Animal drops about six feet when it is born?”
Question three. True or false? Baby crocodiles are born in eggs. Question four.
Our Baby Dolphins born head first or tail first.
Question five. Baby blue whales drink up to how much milk each day. 75 gallons? 150 gallons? Or 300 gallons? Question six.
Baby crocodiles are born with soft quills. How long until they harden? A few hours? A few days? Or not until they're a year old?
Question seven. True or false? Baby frogs or tadpoles breathe through their skin. Parent challenge. Seals, sharks, and otters all have babies called what?
Answer is to the second round.
Question one. A signet is a Baby What? Swan? Mouse or Kuala? Kuala?
A signet is a Baby Swan. They're usually great and fluffy before turning white as adults. Question two.
“What Baby Animal drops about six feet when it's born?”
Well, the answer is a giraffe.
A giraffe calf is born with the mom standing up. So it falls about six feet to the ground. But thankfully the baby giraffe is tough enough to handle it. So the mom of giraffe has the baby and she's really tall. And the baby comes out of her body and falls to the ground.
Six feet. Question three. True or false? Baby crocodiles are born in eggs. It is true.
It is true. Female crocodiles lay clutches of eggs in nests, often near water. And the hatchlings develop inside of these eggs for months before chirping to signal to their mother to help them break out of their shells. I know what happens when they're like on a walk. What?
Dad, cock and down, put them in the mouth. You're totally right. Yep, carries them in his mouth as they need to move somewhere. We're going to be like fighting in the accident and they swallow them. It's probably happened.
Question four. Are Baby Dolphins born? Head first or tail first? Tail first? To your right.
Baby Dolphins are born tail first to prevent drowning, allowing the head to emerge last.
“So the calf can quickly reach the surface for its crucial first breath of air.”
As dolphins are mammals needing to breathe air through their blow holes. This adaptation ensures the newborn who is initially clumsy can get oxygen and oriented self with its mother for survival. And the mother or the other pod members often assist the baby to the surface for air. Well, that's interesting. That is interesting.
Question five. Baby blue whales drink up to how much milk each day. 75 gallons, 150 gallons or 300 gallons. 150 gallons. Very good.
Baby whales drink enormous amounts of nutrient-rich milk every day, helping them gain hundreds of pounds and grow incredibly fast.
Sometimes over 200 pounds a day thanks to milk that is up to 50 percent fat.
Whoa. Could you imagine gaining 200 pounds in one day? Well, I guess if you're drinking 150 pounds of milk, you could gain a lot of weight anyway. But that is so heavy. Yeah, but for people I don't think that I don't think that would be possible.
Nope. Question six. Baby porcupines are born with soft quills. How long until they harden? A few hours?
A few days? Or not until they are a year old? They're quills get hard within hours of being born. They're quills stiffen quickly to protect them from predators. So they're born and then their quills get really hard so that if a predator finds them that they have some kind of protection and with the hard quills they can poke up.
Question seven. True or false? Baby frogs or tadpoles breathe through their skin. True. It is false.
Tadpoles breathe with gills like fish.
But as they develop into adult frogs, they gain lungs and also breathe through their moist skin to absorb oxygen, which is crucial for their survival, especially underwater.
So wild that it changes that much, so a tadpole looks like a little round. I don't know. What would you say it looks like? We've seen tadpoles.
“You know my favorite place that we went to see tadpoles?”
Where did we see tadpoles last? We went hiking and we went up to that like cool. I don't know. It's like an emerald place and we saw a bunch of tadpoles. We were in Zion National Park in Utah.
And in one of the mountains brings we saw tadpoles. That's true. But isn't that crazy that a tadpole starts out looking kind of like a milk dud with a tail? And then grows into a frog with four legs and it loses its gills and does a whole bunch of changing. Parent challenge.
Seals, sharks and otters all have babies called what? And now they are called pups, seal pups, shark pups, otter pups, all have pups.
Round three, the category is South Africa.
Question one.
“What is the name of the mountain in Cape Town with a flat top that gets covered by a tablecloth of clouds?”
Table mountain?
Flat rock ridge or Cape Cliff.
Question two. South Africa has lots of official languages way more than most countries. How many official languages does it have? Four, seven or 12. Question three.
The United States flag has three colors. How many colors are on South Africa's flag? Three, six or eight. Question four. Even in summer, the ocean in Cape Town can feel freezing because of a cold ocean current.
Which ocean is responsible for the chilly water? The Indian ocean? The Atlantic Ocean? Or the Arctic Ocean? Question five.
“Which adorable animal can you see waddling around the beach at Boulders Beach?”
Question six. True or false?
South Africa has multiple capital cities.
Question seven. South Africa is home to what is known as the Big Five African Animals. Name three of the five animals that are part of the Big Five. Parent challenge. There is a tiny country inside South Africa that is completely surrounded like a donut hole.
What is the name of this country? S.W.T. Me, Lassotho, or Botswana? Answer three question one. What is the name of the mountain with a flat top that gets covered by a tablecloth of clouds? Table mountain?
Flat rock ridge or Cape Cliff? Table mountain? Table mountain is correct. When you're in the city and you look up to this mountain, it's this huge mountain right outside the city and it has a very flat top.
And right where it sits is sort of where the cloud line is. And so sometimes the clouds kind of drape over the top of this flat top mountain. It looks like a tablecloth on table mountain. I want to see it. Question two.
South Africa has lots of official languages way more than most countries. How many official languages does it have? Four, seven or twelve. This is a lot. I'm going to go with the biggest one.
That is correct. Can you imagine twelve languages? Question three. The United States flag has three colors. How many colors are on South Africa's flag?
Three, six, or eight. I know it has like a lie. It has like triangles and lines and I'm going to say eight. It has six. In the middle of the flag is a green sideways y.
On the top of the y is a red band. And on the bottom is a blue band that are separated from the y by a white border. Then the top of the y is filled in with black and separated by a yellow border.
“I think it's so interesting how each country's flag kind of represents different things.”
And question four. Even in the summer, the ocean in Cape Town can feel freezing because of a cold ocean current. Which ocean is responsible for the chili water? The Indian Ocean? The Atlantic Ocean or the Arctic Ocean?
I'm going to say the Arctic because that reminds me of Antarctica. That is a very educated guess because Antarctica is down there by South Africa.
However, the Arctic Ocean is up by the North Pole and the answer is the Atlantic Ocean.
So South Africa is very interesting. It is at the bottom tip of Africa kind of comes down into like a UV shape. One side of South Africa is the Atlantic Ocean. One side is the Indian Ocean. The Indian Ocean side has a warm current.
The Atlantic Ocean side has a freezing cold current.
Question five.
“Which adorable animal can you see waddling around on the beach at boulders beach?”
Waddling like a penguin? Penguin is the answer.
African penguins are the only penguins found on the continent.
Question six. True or false. South Africa has multiple capital cities. True. It is true. How many does America have? One. One. Washington, D.C. South Africa has three. They are Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloomfontaine. Wow.
And each of them kind of has a different part of the government. Like each capital deals with a different part like one part is administrative and one part is legislative. So they kind of have different things. That's cool.
Question seven. South Africa is home to what is known as the big five African animals.
Name three of the five animals that are apart of the big five. elephant. Yeah. Nope. So yes or no. Yes. Draw. No rhinoceros. Yes.
The big five are the lion. The leopard elephant. rhinoceros and Cape buffalo. I was nothing like lion. I was thinking like bigger and I could see why you would have guessed. Giraffe. But they're African. Right. The free African giraffes. For sure.
Yeah. Big five. Parent challenge. There is a tiny country inside South Africa that is completely surrounded like a donut hole. What is the name of this country?
Eswatini. Lassotho or Botswana. Easily Eswatini. The answer is Lassotho.
Lassotho is situated in the Melody Mountains and contains the highest peak in southern Africa. It has an area of over 30,000 kilometers and has a population of about 2.3 million. So this is very interesting. South Africa is a country. The country of Lassotho is inside of South Africa, but it's its own country. So it's sort of like if Iowa is inside the United States, but Iowa is its own country.
Lassotho. Right in South Africa. Who knew? Round number four. The category is food and drink. Question one. Which vegetable was used by ancient Egyptians to pay workers who built the pyramids. Carrots, radishes, or eggplant.
“Question two. Which clown is the mascot of McDonald's?”
Question three. Which vegetable can be used to make batteries that power small devices? Call of flower, Brussels sprouts, or potatoes? Question four. Partly was used by ancient Romans as a cure for what? Boldness, bad breath, or back pain. Question five.
What treat was invented accidentally when a boy left flavored soda water outside on a freezing night in 1905? Question six. What brand of chip claims that once you pop, you can't stop? Question seven. What fruit was once considered poisonous in Europe until people realized that it was safe to mateo, peach, or dragon fruit? Parrot challenge. What nut is used to make Mars a pan, which is a sweet candy paste?
“Answer surround four. Question one. Which vegetable was used by ancient Egyptians to pay workers who built the pyramids?”
Carrots, radishes, or eggplant? Radish? Radishes is the answer. Radishes were part of the wages for pyramid builders along with onions and garlic.
Interesting.
If it's the kind of radish that I've had, I would not want to be paid in radishes. I don't love them. They're kind of spicy? What? Yeah, they have the consistency of a potato, like a hard potato, and they're kind. I don't love a radish.
“Maybe they were special radishes in Egypt that tasted better. Question two. Which clown is the mascot for McDonald's?”
The answer is Ronald McDonald. He became the face of McDonald's in the 1960's. Now that I say Ronald McDonald does that make sense? Yes.
Sometimes it's hard to ask these questions because they don't have the commercials like they used to, and so I don't know if you guys know what that is or not. Question three. Which vegetable can be used to make batteries that power small devices? Call of flower, Brussels sprouts, or potatoes? You are right. The potato is the most famous vegetable used to make simple batteries for small devices along with other produce like lemons, tomatoes, or cucumbers. This works because their natural acids react with metal electrodes to generate a small electric currents, though other vegetables like onions or turnips can also work.
“That's so crazy. Yeah. Question four. Partly was used by ancient Romans as a cure for what?”
Baldness, bad breath, or back pain. Back pain? The answer is bad breath. Romans chewed parsley after meals to freshen their breath.
Parsley is an herb, and it is not sweet, so that's interesting that they would have chewed that to freshen their breath. Question five. What treat was invented accidentally when a boy left flavored soda water outside on a freezing night in 1905. The answer is the popsicle. And 11 year old named Frank Eperson created the first popsicle by accident. How had nobody created a popsicle prior to that? Is that very difficult concept, so I feel like prior to 1905 somebody should have come up with it. Question six. What brand of chip claims that once you pop, you can't stop.
Pringles, fringles, because you pop open the can, and then once you pop, you can't stop eating them because they're so good.
“What is your favorite flavor of pringles? There's a lot of options. Probably just a plain. Just plain, huh?”
I used to really like the sour cream than you runs, but you went back to playing. I think my favorite of barwakyu. I like a barwakyu. Question seven. What fruit was once considered poisonous in Europe until people realized it was safe tomatoes, peaches or dragon fruit.
The answer is tomatoes. The tomato was once considered poisonous in Europe, leading people to call it the poison apple. Well, the Europeans ate tomatoes from pewter plates, which contained lead.
The acid from the tomatoes caused the lead from the plates to be ingested leading to illness and sometimes even death. Interesting. Yeah, so it was what was in the plates instead of what was in the tomato. Pringles, favorite challenge. What nut is used to make marzipan a sweet candy paste? Well, the answer is almonds. Ground almonds and sugar create marzipan. We don't need a lot of marzipan. I've only ever heard of it because I'm a big fan of baking TV shows. 100% you love. Round five, the category is common theme. All of the answers to the questions will come together to form a common theme at the end. Question one. What popular type of soup is made of tomato juice, ground beef, beans and a blend of spices.

The word translates to the gentle way in Japanese. Question five. Question one. What popular type of soup is made of tomato juice, ground beef, beans and a blend of spices. Question five. What is better on a cold day like today than chilly with cinnamon rolls. Oh, I love chilly. Do you? I do. I personally like dipping my cinnamon rolls into my chili, but my friends will be like, what are you doing?
“I'm on team rent for that one. Dip those cinnamon rolls. Yeah, and then it's like sweet because of the frosting. It's I think it's amazing. Totally with you throw a little cheese in there and some crackers. Oh, yum.”
Question two. No two zebras have the same what stripes that is correct. Kind of like their fingerprints. No two zebras have the same stripes. No two people. Question three. Rusty is the answer when metal corrods it becomes rusty because of a chemical reaction called oxidation.
“Question five. What is the name of the leprechaun that is the mascot for the serial Lucky Charms? Lucky?”
