So you don't miss episodes dropping every Monday and Thursday. Okay. Ready? Okay. Yes. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a podcast.
Hello. How's your five day on this Monday? It's good. It's very relaxed. Why is it so relaxed? It's odd.
I had a, had an out-of-weight, him and Bubsman about four hours a week last night together bonding. Just got a good week ahead. Yeah. Feeling diled in.
What we did last night was so good. Harrison wanted, and this is what happens. It happens about every Sunday. Around 11 a.m. He was like, let's invite people over for dinner.
We'll do something fun. And then I don't do that. I've learned, I'm not going to invite people over for dinner.
I've never been so happy when you said,
I was like, that's my people who are like, oh, I'll text X and then two hours went by as, oh my goodness. Like, oh, we committed to social plans. And I don't want to do them. And it was my idea.
And I asked, like, said, did you, what did they say? You're like, I didn't text. I was, I couldn't have been more happier. I know because I knew what you wanted to do last night. What you want to do last night was get the house ready for the week.
Eat a good dinner and go to bed early. Yeah. And I knew you wanted to do that. But I knew, because this is, this has always been the running joke. You know, happy hour.
Always used to sound fun around 10 or 11 a.m. Right? It's our text and your friends. Let's do something tonight. And then, you know, four o'clock hits.
And like, all you want to do is go to bed. Yeah. Can I tell you something kind of funny that you don't know about me? Yeah. So when I live in San Francisco on Sundays,
I like almost rain or shine. I would order Thai feasts.
OK. And I'd always order green chicken curry with a side of shrimp pad
Thai. Wow. OK. And so last night's craving dinner craving was like on the back of that.
“And that's why I made green chicken curry.”
We did. We had chicken curry last night was it was so good. You did a phenomenal job. Thank you. We're out of the phase with the neighbors where we just went to the
storm, bought groceries and went over to their house and cooked it. And that doesn't count as being social, by the way. Well, we got very, they weren't supposed to be in town. So the initial game plan was, I was like, oh, amazing. We'll have just like, what do you want to call it?
A village dinner? Yeah. We'll have a village dinner. They said they weren't going to be in town. And so, and what I love about it is just like kind of,
it's like, brainless if that's the right word. Yeah. Like, you can just sit there and not like worry about small talk. And you really just like your comfort level, it doesn't matter what you're wearing. It doesn't matter if the food is under cooked, if the food is like not cooked.
It doesn't matter if that's not cooked. It doesn't matter if that's not cooked. It doesn't matter. But like, you know what I mean? No, it's the phrase.
I tried kelp noodles last night and like I'm not going to try kelp noodles on like it on in a setting that I'm not super comfortable in. Well, I think kelp noodles are good. It goes to savory crunchy kelp noodles very crunchy. They were delicious.
“It just goes to say it's like when you first go to college, I remember for the first six months.”
I was like, it's really hard because I don't have my best friends yet and your best friends are the people you can sit in.
It was in silence with like I always had my friend Sidney who like we could just sit there
and eat and like I don't have to talk to her and I can do that with you. Totally. I love the friend you can sit in in silence with because that's true comfort ability. Totally. Okay, this episode, let's see.
We're going to talk about our night last night. We're going to talk about some things in the comments. We're going to talk about lots of fun things, but before we do that, two things. Number one. Subscribe.
Please. And a two friend. Pretty please. Our dearest listeners. Number two, Jules is 30.
Yay. Yay, Jules. I can't believe you just talked. Jules is age. I don't care.
Are we okay with that? Yeah, because 30, 30 is young.
29 is older than 30.
I could believe you. Oh. I could believe you were 31. What's 31? I mean, like we're good until I hit 35.
Sorry. 35.
“Well, I actually go based off of my function.”
Healthy. Bio-age. You're like 17. What's your 22? I think in 26.
No, 24. I go off of my Spotify age. Oh, the Jules. I'm like 14. You're 16.
I don't have Spotify. I was 22. Which I was really proud of. Yeah, I was like 21 or 22 or something. I think I 28.
Well. Okay, Jules.
I want to get it right because it's amazing.
And I want to stay true to function. Yeah, I think he's looking for me. I'm looking for the name of my correct age. I think it's bio-age. Biological age.
Yeah. Bio-age. Kind of looks like my biological age. I'm not a little bit. I don't think that's possible.
Unless you're a birthday, which you haven't had yet. Years is on Thursday. Okay, but let's not take this moment away from Jules. Okay, Jules, how's the birthday? Jules and Jenny in New York City.
Jenny didn't come. Whoa! She was supposed to come. But why didn't she end up coming? That's, that's Jules' dog.
“Because they raised the prices of the dog tickets.”
How much are they? They're $300 round trip now. They used to be at dogs off the airplane. They used to be 200. And just like on Prince Boy, I didn't want to bring her one.
Someone could watch her. Who watched her? Alex and poop. Okay. So, how was New York?
It was gray. It was gray, saw a show. What did you see there? We saw Chass. Do you know what?
Do you guys know Liam Shall from Lily?
No. She's like, I don't know. She's the main character from Glitch. She's big on Broadway. But it's the show that she's star.
Was that Brian in Zaccafron and Glee? No. That was high school musical. Okay. And, and the greatest showman.
That's Zaccafron. Yeah. He was in both of those big musical guys. I saw a show that was great. Did a big dinner.
I was great. My friend group. My group text surprised me. That was great. And how they surprised you.
They showed up. It's always apartment. But Anna had texted and said that she had sent us a treat. And that there was a delivery coming. That's a good idea.
But I now have a surprise pro tip. Because it's the one thing that threw me off when I kind of got some win that they were coming. We love a surprise tip. Yeah. Love all tips.
Well, people saying this could be bad.
She switched her location to her iPad. And so therefore she was in her apartment in Chicago all day. When I was refreshing to see if she was coming. I was like, she can't make it by the time we're supposed to hang out with our other friends at 8 p.m. Like...
I think it's genius. Yeah? But I... I will say. I get very confused by the whole.
Find my location tracking thing. Like, I don't know why. It doesn't... Something just... I feel like it's confusing.
During that, I wouldn't... I wouldn't execute well. You would like send a notification. That's like Harrison switched to his iPad. Like we've been trying to set up find my iPhone.
Well, that's different than location tracking. I don't know. I don't know. But I... Great idea.
I leaned she turned her location off. That was a dead giveaway. That's the giveaway. I knew she was there. That's the giveaway.
But it was great. It was awesome. And my friend Jane did a really good job planning everything. And where'd you go on your birthday dinner? We went to Korean barbeque.
I'm a Korean barbeque place. Where, coat? What? What's the name of the restaurant? Oh, I don't know.
With a COT. No. It was in K-town. I don't know where it was. Okay.
What is the Korean barbeque? It was great. It was so much food. Like so much food, so much meat. First time?
Yeah. Yeah. Harrison loves Korean barbeque.
“I think Korean barbeque is probably the most underrated eating experience that exist.”
I think so too. So much fun. The food is amazing. Did you cook or did they have someone they're cooking for you? They had someone they're cooking for us.
Okay. So that's probably like a hot debate. I think I prefer cooking myself. So for the listener doesn't know the Korean barbeque is. It's similar to Hobachi where you have an open, you have like a barbeque in front of you.
You cook your own meat or they have someone from the restaurant. Cook it in front of you. And it is like it is a ton typically of red meat. And so just like different cuts of. They're like thinly sliced and you like cook them.
Is that what it is? Exactly. Exactly. Great sides of kimchi and rice and macaroni salad. Okay.
That seems unique. I don't know. It was good. But there was 18 of us. Wow.
Yeah. So there was three barbeque. And I don't think we could have like cooked for ourselves if there was such a large group.
This is so fun.
What a good thing. Yeah. Yeah. It was very fun. Yeah.
For Korean barbeque is, I don't know. It's even good with two. I do a solo Korean barbeque. Why haven't we gone? But it's also perfect with 18.
Because I've looked and I haven't found a good one in Austin. My friends apparently have a good one here. Really? Okay. Yeah.
I would love to go. Yeah. It's just one of the fun of getting experience out there.
Also, the food is amazing.
And there's not food. Yeah. That's the thing. There was almost too much food.
“But I think I was, I was saved by not the not drinking thing.”
If I was drinking and eating all of that, I don't know. Oh, meat sweats. Yeah. But it was amazing. Sorry.
I'm not complaining about it. No, no. It sounds like it was really fun. It sounds like it all went well. It sounds like it was a successful 30.
It did. Good. Because you deserve a successful 30. Thank you. Okay.
So that's Jules' birthday. Everyone subscribed. So that's good. Those are my two things. For my birthday.
For, oh my gosh. It's not for me today. It's for Jules. And there's nobody. The listener loves more than Jules.
So I assume our subscriber numbers will skyrocket. They will skyrocket after this one. Okay. Before we talk about Newport. When we recap, like just some, we have some fun things to recap.
Um, I do want to talk about Burger Talk. Because Harrison and I are both on it. Have you guys seen the CEOs eating the burgers? No. P has.
What? I am obsessed. This is like a great internet moment. This I think will be like a 2026 internet moment. Oh, I haven't been on my film that much.
Okay. Good. Jules' screen time is low today. Yes.
So basically the McDonald's CEO started it off.
Because he was trying their new arch burger. Yep. And he's like, okay. I'm going to eat this new burger. Wow.
What do we have here? A sesame bun. Double patties. Like, it's like his first day at the office. And nibbled it.
Then he goes. Hold on. Sorry. Then he goes. This is the part that gets everybody.
He's like, goes to take a bite of it. And he's like. And then they like don't even show them swallowing it. And everyone's like their food is that bad. Like even the CEO doesn't even like make Donald's food.
So the best response to the chat to me was Burger King immediately. Yeah. Well, a couple other things that I just want to add about the video, which I,
“you need to watch the video is he even like had just and made a comment at the beginning.”
You're like, and don't worry. I'm going to eat all of it for lunch later. But I was like, what, like before you even took the bite. And yes, sorry. Please go.
So like the parody accounts are like the best parody one I saw was a girl's being like, okay, she's impersonating the mic to make Donald CEO. And she's like taking the fries. I'm not actually eating them though. Just like putting them beside her face.
And then she goes to take a bite of the burger that like throws up off screen. So like, it's McDonald's has since deleted the video. You were talking with Burger King. Hold on, but I just want to say McDonald's took the video down.
I mean, it probably had 45 million views on my own.
So make Donald CEO Tom or Tim Tom. I maybe. He's doing such a good job. I followed Burger King because I just. Well, are you just confused me?
Sorry. So okay. So now all these burger CEOs are responding. And they're they're saying they're using it as a time to talk about their burger and taste their burger and they're all taking obviously massive bites of the burger.
But Burger King I think was first to the race. And they had already put up a video of their CEO eating a burger. So they just clipped in and said we're going to replay this. Tom was already off to the races. Yeah, Tom at Burger King.
Can we just name check these CEOs? The CEO is Josh, but the president is Tom. That's okay. It's the president. Yes.
So Tom has put his phone number out. There's personal phone number. I just saw that for people to call and he's actually calling them back.
“And he's like, all right, what do you want us to change?”
And I can not get your soggy. We don't like your brick and mortar. So he's changing all this stuff in real time. And he's just doing a social moment. Let's call the guy.
I wanted I did want to call the guy. Let's call the guy. Call him right now. Call him one second. Does his phone number King suit to leave a voice mail?
And you know what I'm going to say? Let me say Tom, you are on two parents in a pod. The number one parenting podcast in the world. And we are just giving you kudos for a company. That is appropriately reading the room and reading the moment
and taking advantage of the wind at your sales. And we are now Burger King family. Yeah. And we're going to go. We're going to take our family to Burger King tonight.
What's the burger he's talking about? We got a reward. I think that I think you want to just like reward companies that like get. Yeah.
I'm going for the number.
Listen up guys. I've got to share something that I've incorporated into my night time ritual.
I kept hearing about magnesium breakthrough by bi optimizers from friends
from people in the comments and everyone kept saying the same thing. This one is different because a lot of people say they're all the same. They are not all the same. People can't stop talking about the benefits.
“And if it's deeper sleep, who doesn't want that feeling calmer?”
Better work out recovery and even improved digestion. But I don't like to recommend something unless I've tried it personally. So I started trying the magnesium breakthrough. And I want to invite you guys to try it with me. So here's my challenge to you.
Try it. Try your sleep. Pay attention to how you feel. See if you wake up feeling more rested and refreshed. You truly have nothing to lose.
And I promise you you have a whole lot to gain you guys. So go to buyoptimizers.com/twoparents and use our exclusive code to parents to get 15% off any order.
Make 2026 the year you finally start sleeping great again.
Again, that's buyoptimizers.com/twoparents. B-I-O-P-T-I-M-I-Z-E-R-S.com/twoparents and use our exclusive code to parents to get 15% off any order. He is awesome. And so everyone's been doing now the taste test between the wapper and the...
Do you want to talk to him? Tell me. Thank you very much. Can you tell me the winner came here?
“And wow, I've gotten so much good info from me to call.”
I'm going to be taking many, but admittedly fewer calls as I get back to my day job. But my leadership team and I are dedicating kind of each week to get back to as many of you as possible. So leave a voice, ma'am.
We'll be in touch. Thanks for the call. Hi, Tom.
This is Alex and Harrison.
We're on two parents in a podcast. And we are talking about the CEO/president Burger Wars that are happening on TikTok. And I got to say you're doing such a good job that number one, I followed Burger King on TikTok.
Number two, because I can't wait to see more of your content. And number two, we are going to go try and we're going to take our sweet little 17-month-old with us. And we're going to go try the wapper at Burger King because I haven't had it. Since high school, and I just, you don't have to call us back.
I just want to tell you you're doing a phenomenal job. Do you want to say, hold on Harrison to say something. Yeah, we just wanted to give Kudos to companies that are reading cultural moments the right way. Good job, Tom.
The jewels. And ask them to bring back BK chicken fries. And jewels wants to be catching fries. And it's her 30th birthday. So come on.
So please. I'm sure you don't even know that it's given the market coverage or company. Yeah, shout out Tom. Shout out Tom.
Okay, thank you. Thank you, Tom. Were those the long chicken tenders? Yeah. I used to have them in high school with time.
So good. But nominal, where did they go? I don't know. I just remember that they left. They don't have them.
So that's really sad. They need to bring them back. They're redoing a lot of the brick and mortars. Right now.
“And you know, they have the, who is the square patty?”
Wendy's. Now also, it's somebody. Another really funny thing I saw was the RBCO realizing he's going to have to actually eat the burger. The guys like me. Well, the key learning in this for me is like, you just got to, you got to know your CEO.
You got to know your found. You know, like, some founders is really compelling content to be made behind. And like, other founders are just like career corporates. And I guess not founders. See, they're just like career corporates.
That like are really good at their job of scaling these massive global organizations and optimizing the complexities of operating those businesses. But like, yeah, shouldn't be on camera with the food. Tom. Like, read your strengths and read your weaknesses. Tom should be now.
And this dude also just had like, when I was talking about McDonald's, just so we're clear on that last comment. Like, he had a link in post, which was a zero out of 10 response. Like, talk about just like taking yourself into a bigger hole. McDonald's is is swinging a mess. Well, the problem with McDonald's right now is they're not in on their own joke.
So they've deleted the video. They've made no response to the video. All their comments are like, where's your video? Thank you. They're not leaning into it at all.
Whereas Burger King's social team is just like dunking on them. And and make Donald's has the platform and the opportunity to like come back. Yeah, they should have done like they could have done even like a hilarious redo video where they even take the joke to a further extent or like release it behind the scenes.
Like, there's so much you could have done with it.
But I'm also sure that that they're not making any of these decisions themselves.
“And they're like sitting on these outsourced agencies and they're running.”
Like massive pictures for like agencies to come in and tell them what to do. Yeah, they're not leaning on their own. Yeah, this could be a great moment for them. That all said I do want to try them in charge. You do want to try it.
Yeah. It's kind of making me want to. I also thought like how do you not have our planning chat. Oh my gosh. Okay, a tip for McDonald's.
Like there's your video. Hi, I'm March Manning, the new CEO of McDonald's. Dude, because you know that dude smashed his burgers. That's actually. Okay, I can't believe we're going to give this tip to make Donald's for free.
But I do think Harrison maybe just and he could say, I'm the only one who can actually rate this burger. Yeah. It's named after me. That and that is like a three out of ten idea.
Maybe two and a half out. Maybe two out of ten idea. But better than what they've done. That's a great. Well, I'm blown away by it.
If I was sitting in the marketing meeting and that was just pitched to me. I'd be like, you're hired. You know what would actually be funny, but they like do not have any form of balls to do it. What?
Is to pretend like he was fired over the situation. He but here's the thing. If they, if they put out a press release and we're like, We had to fire him and we won't hire him back until he has 100 burgers on camera. Like that is how you re get the internet's attention and a positive way.
Okay. Harrison, two really good ideas. Oh, what do you think the funny, one of the funny things I, or entertaining things to do, and this is definitely the geek in me, is like whenever you see a company's CEO,
either the higher new CEO or the designer CEO, you look at what the new, what the stock does on the back and the performance. And so I'm very curious if this dude, if they even did a fake resignation or firing, what would become the stock do?
Like when Starbucks, when Starbucks brought in the new CEO, billions of dollars of market cap are created. Oh, they work created. Versus when-- Not Howard Schultz, like long gone.
“Yeah, I think with that he's kind of been like in and out of the organization.”
I think it's like he steps away. The company has operational issues. He announces like he's going to re-engage. The stock comes back. I feel like that's like kind of directionally the trend that's happened.
But they just brought in some, I think they, did they bring in the chip? Yes, or I think it was, I think it wasn't chipotle CEO. Yeah. I'm not sure what stock's done.
Chris, this is his name. Okay, the Chris isn't going to make Donald's CEO's name. Here's a thing. I don't think Chris is letting them have any fun with the social media. I think Chris is the problem.
While we're not seeing any buzz that it makes Donald's.
Yeah, this is a really, this is an amazing moment for them
that they're not taking advantage of. Like playing in simple. Yeah. Tom though over Burger King gets it. And it makes me want to, I think less, it does make me want to have
the other burgers over the McDonald's burger. Like it makes me want to go out and just like smash a. We got to go. Burger King. Why don't we go Burger King?
How far away is a Burger King from us though? That's what I wanted. I was just going to say. Like I haven't seen a Burger King. We'll find it.
Shut up, Peteris. Well, here's the thing that I was going to say. Other people, other CEOs or presidents that have just one burger shop, right? Or they have a brewery with a great burger.
They're all getting online now and talking about their burgers. And the biggest, the one I saw was like, this isn't human meat. This is animal meat. Like they're really taking a moment to talk about their burger. But I got to jump in here.
And the quality of their burger. I love the initial like Burger King come back. A and W come back. I hate when you're like the fifth to tenth to 20th Burger company coming out and like just copycating the trend.
Like if you're not first, you're last. Okay. I'm Ricky Bobby.
“I think that's how I feel on the comeback.”
Like and I see it with brands do this all the time with Instagram. We're like some pop culture moment happens.
And like I've always said, if you are not the first one to ride
the meme, nope, you're out. Someone commented the other day. Alex is low key sneaky funny. I'm like, that's just the example. Oh, she do.
You didn't even hear me, probably. Ricky Bobby. What do you mean? I quoted Ricky Bobby. Yeah, but she made it funny.
Harrison doesn't get it. Here I have to push back on this for one moment. Yeah. I agree with you. Like if you're the fifth, sixth, seventh,
like large fast food chain. Okay, I'm creative. And you're just riding a wave now at this point. But these small mom and pop shops that are like putting their CEOs on there
That have millions of views for the first time on there.
I can't I love it. Because that's on charter territory for them. Love it. Big of course we love small businesses. I guess my point is if they're getting millions of views
then they're doing something good. Like they're actually doing something entertaining. Some of these CEOs are have just.
So if you're not going to be first you just.
“You need to nail the entertainment factors kind of my point.”
Like it didn't matter what. The first burger company really did on this. They just needed their CEO to smash a burger. You need a big bite. Yeah.
Which Tom did. And it needed to be the right company. Everyone else it's like if you're going to do it. Make make don't just copy do it. And make a statement and be entertaining with it.
Just wearing the mask. Jack in the box. I'm not understanding what they're doing. What people are saying they're winning. But I really don't get it because the CEO is like thirst trapping.
Also wearing like a mask of some sort. I don't know. But people love that one. But it didn't make sense to me.
I think maybe I maybe I'm too old.
And and on those if I haven't seen this one. But what I will say is I can't say everything I just said. And a company takes a different swing. And if it doesn't land like at least at least they took a shot. Yeah.
Which I agree with. I just think burger. It was ironic last night here. Some of you on this burger talk. I was like, in my on it.
It's the only thing I'm watching. It's the only thing I'm watching. And it is. I want to go try this burger. King burger so bad because he's perfected the buns.
People were saying they were too soggy. And he switched the buns out. It's a great and an end moment. It's a great and an end moment. It's a great and an end moment.
And just shout out to Burger King. All right. So that's that's it on Burger Talk. Which we are clearly all over in our household. I was thinking, can you make me burger?
And I could pick on the CEO of our house. And then I could taste it. That's a funny video. Okay. Tate even the burger.
The CEO of our house. The real CEO of our house. Tate. That's really funny. That's like really funny to think.
She could figure out how to pick up the whole burger. Oh for sure. If we show her. Very show her. It's a new year and time to get feeling like yourself.

Axel price depends on product and plan purchased. So Bubbs has had like a monumental let's talk about new pork.
“I think that's why she's had a monument a week.”
Okay, but did let's do one talk about last night for ten seconds. Yeah, what about what happened? Oh, yeah, we don't really talked about it. Oh, she just had a good three to four hours stretch away. The bubbles in did.
So she woke up at one went back to bed. Call it for dirtyish plus minus for it. Let's call for it. So those are three hours stretch.
I'd always heard like when your kid is crying in the middle night.
The what you don't ever want to do if you can avoid it is take them out of the bed because it wakes them up. And I think that the challenge that we got into last night driven by me is I think she was cold. And so I think she woke up at one cold.
And so when I changed her into something warmer, I think that really woke her up. And so I think she was very confused. As to okay, like I'm kind of up, you kind of changed me. Like, well, I'm tired.
I'm thinking my day starting. And so we had to like really recomb her back into bed. That's what I think happened. And that's why I think she was up for so long.
“Because I think she thought her day was starting”
because we because in changing her, it like it woke her up.
I felt like she needed to change the thought she was cold.
Her room just like about really cold.
“Which is funny because it's over all we always leave it 70”
for bobs because Harrison and I would sleep at 68. But because of the bubble rating, we sleep at 70 in our house. I'll say this though, Harrison turned it up to 72. And the three of us zonked out from four to eight to eight am. Yeah.
Like comed out. And I was warm and I was so cozy and it stayed dark earlier. It was great. I just wanted to be clear. We didn't leave her in the crib from month to four.
I was with her. The whole child trying to get her to go back down. No, we're not. Some people win their kid wakes up in the middle of the night. And they cry like they leave them in there.
Harrison and I went on to have that heart.
So we just like I went in there first and I grabbed her.
And I held her for a second. And then Harrison came around the corner and said, I think she's cold and she heard him. And then I tell you who take loves. She that that that and then it was just data data and then she really wanted
that so then data took over, which was great for me because I mean, I could not keep my eyes open. So he was with it the whole time, but we don't. And then I put her back in the bed and when I put her back in the bed,
“that's when I was just like, I really think she's cold.”
And that's when I was like, I didn't know what to do because it was going to take too long for the room temperature to actually get warm. Once you changed her and got her warm, they house heated up. I mean, the girl she was shocked. Yeah, but it took a long time because I changed her and then she was
up and then when I put her back in, she was standing being like, it's time for my data start and so we to read your bedtime routine. And did you, yeah, she got confused. I think she's very confused. Um, but what we were saying this morning was like,
we really feel for we're lucky, right? And we don't know what we're going to get with our little boy here in the belly. But like we're lucky with bobs because she's a good sleeper nine out of nine and a half out of ten nights. And like last night, she wasn't an even though I wasn't even up with her.
I could hear you guys and I could hear her crying. I knew you weren't in bed. I knew she was awake and like that kept me up. Let alone was I you who was like fully awake. And like this morning, we're both just like you're out of it
if you're fully up for four hours in the middle three hours in the middle of the night. Because she slept until eight, I feel fine.
Um, the, I tried for the first time to sleep in her room.
On the floor. Yeah. And that's when I realized that she was fully awake. Because she was just like talking to you. Well, I would, the way it would work is that I'd like put her down.
And I'd get it to calm. And then when I'd leave the room, she would like immediately stand up and start calling for me. And so I went back in there and I was like, okay, let's put her down and let's just sleep beside the crib.
And so I'd put her down when I'd slept when I'd go beside the crib. She would just stand up and she started calling for me. I was like, all right. Let's just completely reset the bed time routine. So I went and we like thought are some milk and that would be confusion.
Should I talk to a whole lot? Like, is how would you know? How would you know tonight for, you know, 18 months, no one's changed me in the middle of the night. I am cold, but tonight they're changing me in the middle of the night.
Like it's so confusing. And what I love, one thing I do want to ask you,
“because I, I think you and Bubbs have like the sweetest bond ever.”
And like, she sees you, she loves me. I, I, you know that, she loves her mama. Everyone.
Harrison always says mama's number one, but actually data is.
I mean, she is a dad as girl. So I wanted to ask you what are some ways that you've bonded with Tate over her first year, year and a half of life. Especially knowing like you're not the kind that sits in place with her. You don't love toys, but like you guys,
that's such a strong bond. And you found ways to bond with her that are like incredible. Yeah, I think that, you know, she loves you most. So let's just be very clear about that. I think when it comes to the bond that her and I have that I'm like,
so it just feels so special to me. And I even felt it like last night when she was just like lying on the chest. Like, oh my god, I'm just like so happy with this girl I can hear. Oh, is, but, but back to you, when I look at what are the actual things that are being done to drive that the first thing is routine.
And from day one, her and I have just had daily routines. Both routines that her and I do ourselves, but also family routines.
These routines like, they're not rocket science, but they do happen every day.
And they do create special moments where her and I can bond and bond through
her different developmental phases.
“And so an example of this like, it started week one of week two of her being”
in the little pouch. And we would walk to the coffee shop with her in the pouch. And now that's since adapted and it went to us walking in the stroller. To now we walk there together and I hold her hand and it takes longer. It takes, you know, what is a seven minute walk is now anywhere from a 30 to 45 minute walk.
But it's a very special thing that we truly do. You know, five times a week. Yeah, I would say five, five days five to six. And you know, on the back end, well, we have our bedtime routine, which I've talked about before. There's also the pre-bed timer team, which we do. Now is a family where we walk around the block.
And so that's the first thing is just like finding these day-to-day routines.
And adjusting them as she continues to get older.
“And repetition is really, really good for her age because it's how they learn.”
So she knows to start to expect that. Yeah. The second thing is I found activities that both of us enjoy. And the one that really jumps out on this is cooking. And that's something that when we have, you know, a down hour in a day, it's something that I know that she wants to do, because when I moved that cooking, the stool, the tower, the tower, the tower.
The cooking tower, she scoots right to it. And you just see the raw positive emotion on her face throughout it. And I really like doing it. And when it comes to things, I know she wants to do. I just like have found my way to enjoy them.
So like going to the park, she loves to go to the park. She loves to play with other kids at the park. And so like, I want to get none of this is rocket science. So I'm just like, okay, when I take bobs to the park, where they're going to kind of go through the player together.
But often not, she's just going to want to be playing with other kids. And that's turned into my podcast time. So I'll have one headphone in. And like I found that as a way for her to get to do something that she wants. And we get to do something I want.
Obviously, I'm watching her. I'm enjoying the moment of watching her play. But like she's playing for like an hour. No, she's very happy at the park.
And then the third thing is I really leaned into traditions.
And I find that those traditions create everlasting memories. And really like around the holidays is what I'm referring to. I wasn't growing up a massive holiday person. And every single holiday from Valentine's Day to I mean, going back, it started with Halloween and her being five, six weeks old
and turning her stroller into a hot dog cart to Thanksgiving, where we turn her stroller into a Thanksgiving meal. And I've been sorry. She was the turkey. She was the turkey to Easter.
The holidays like this, this Valentine's Day. I did a bunch of big cooking and just like really finding any opportunity to create special both one-on-one moments and family moments. And yeah, I think the way I just bring it all together is like I said. One, none of this is rocket science.
What it is is just like it's a consistent focus. Every day on connecting with her, growing with her and bonding with her. And now she truly feels like an extension of myself.
“Well, what I have to give you kudos for is because I think those are, what are the three?”
I said, they're the kind of mind we're routine finding activities that both of us enjoy. And I'm special moments, holidays. You know when you want something warm, cozy, and comforting after a long day.
Well, that's when we turn to goodtles in our household, you guys.
It has the nostalgia of mac and cheese that you grew up with, but with ingredients that make you feel good. So you don't have that like, achy carb crash afterwards,
because each serving is packed with protein, fiber and essential vitamins and minerals.
And the number one thing is you guys, they taste amazing. So they've got so many flavors, right? But, and they all, they're all a treat. They've got the chatty mac, the shell a good, the twist my palm,
“and here comes the trouble, which is like the best thing ever.”
And that they have the best pasta. I'm obsessed with the goodtles pasta. Every serving of goodtles mac and cheese has protein, fiber with probiotics and vitamins and minerals from real plant sources. So you can enjoy some mac and cheese without the crash.
You guys, plus it's clean, label purity, award certified, which means it's been tested for over 400 contaminants and goodtles meets their highest standard. It's time to get some goodtles for yourself. I know you'll love them as much as we do. Pick up goodtles mac and cheese and pasta on your next shopping trip.
Available nationwide at Target and Walmart, plus many other grocery stores and retailers. So what I like about it that you've done just from observing is you've really made it your own.
Like cooking, I would never think to cook with somebody her age at all.
But she knows she gets to crack the eggs. She knows the banana goes in the bowl and she knows she gets to do the mixing. Like if you guys haven't seen Harrison puts all of his cooking videos on TikTok, have you put one on Instagram? I don't think so.
They're precious. It bobs like you can see how she evolves over time and she knows she's doing it. But you put your own thing on your own spin on fatherhood. Like you didn't follow some rulebook, you just said like this is what I want to do. And I think it's really sweet.
And teach their own and everyone's going to have different types of relationships with their. Yeah, but they were still doing it in a fine different ways to bond with them. But this is what's worked for us. The question was what worked for you. Yeah.
And so those are the three things.
“I think that I just think that's really sweet.”
I have a question. Yes. Send mine on really to about the walking. Have you guys? Do you have friends that use the leash?
The kid leash? Are you guys ever going to use the kid leash? I'm so out on the kid leash. I just brought this together up the other day. What do they call it in modern family?
Cam doesn't call it a leash. She calls it. Yes, a child safety tether. And so I was like looking at. TikToks about this because there's different forms of leash.
Right? Because like leash has such a negative connotation to it. A lot of times like a backpack. Or it's like a little bracelet that the mom and the kid wear. And they're like bungee like this.
We're not child safety tether people. Nor do I know anybody that is. But I do see people make videos of it. And listen, it's what they're doing is trying to keep their kids safe. Right?
So like that I'm for.
“But I think that so much of like going for the walk and taking in places.”
Is then. Is the development side of it where they understand where they learn naturally. Okay, like how far can I go away from my parents? Like we're like. What does a car mean?
Car means you cannot go. And then like finding those boundaries. And I think it's our job as parents to be fully aware, fully tuned in. On. Sorry, just kind of like I think it's our job as parents to be fully to like monitor the situation.
Around them understanding boundaries rather than like implement. Emforcing them to these like weird gadgets like every day at the coffee shop. I'm watching her and how she interacts with the people coming in and out of the door. The construction site, the general sidewalk, the dogs that come by like that to me is where the growth is coming from. And whenever obviously like I see her getting anywhere close to real danger, like I step in.
But like she's got she's she's there to learn how the world works. Yeah, I just I will say this like while again, it's not for us because our method has been Harrison just describes. I do understand like if you're in a large crowd and you've got a runner. I do I do see putting I do see putting I do I like I. I don't dog it I guess.
Yeah, but I I kind of push on it. I think that it probably like. I feel like that the correlation of parenting that way would probably tie into into other potential issues. I give your kid is a runner. I feel like that's something that you probably want to get under control and do that.
Actually, I may back off of that. Well, I don't know because maybe it's a way that gives it the internet is saying it's kind of like a band aid solution more than an actual. And that's what I mean is it feels like a band aid to me like it feels like they need to learn at the airport.
They can't run away because they run away like their potential problems to co...
I just I do. I don't know if a leash does that. My natural incarnation is it does. Child safety. I do see it I do see that like like again, I can't hit it's enough.
We're never doing it to bugs.
I'm personally we're not for it.
“But I do see in a situation like I think this is the classic thing.”
You see somebody walk by their kids on a child's safety tether. And then you hear like, oh, their kids on a leash right the whispers. I do see it's like your most precious thing. If you're in a large crowd and like you just need to get through putting them on it. For that situation, I I can understand. I do think it's probably a band aid.
It's not for us, but I think doing it like every day on the way to the coffee shop is just like. Didn't what do you do of grandma's walking them like how does how does the kid learn. Or like walking with them. What do you do if like grandma's walking with them one day? She doesn't have the leash like.
Do they have no concept of how far they can go? I don't know. Also like there's I've seen some stuff come out about like the there's the backpacks. That's what I'm saying. What the protective.
Oh. Head back.
And I think that like part of I think.
Why people advise against those is because it then doesn't teach them how to fall. People advise against those are pediatrician advised against that because it teaches a kid. So what it is is it's a backpack pillow where the top of it protects their head. So if they fall backwards when they're learning to walk, it's a cushion for them. The problem with it is they're not wearing it 24/7.
And so they'll. Actually end up falling on their head more because they don't learn the proper way to fall. And they think they have the cushion below it. The same thing with fall. You like if you fall with the cushion on, it doesn't hurt your head.
And so you don't really like verse if you have a little fall in it and it hurts your head. Then you realize oh wow when I fall, I really need to protect the back of my head and be careful. And that to me, I think I was wondering why I naturally was so inclined to say like I was against the leashes. And I think that that those two tie together. It's like what it's not in the leash isn't there.
I think I'm going to run into the middle of the street. Might as well teach them the right way. Don't run into the middle of the street.
It is a little harder at first.
“You have to be more on and you do have to teach them.”
Like if you fall, this is what's going to happen. But it's the same thing with the floaty thing I hear. I don't know we're not here yet. We are actually starting swim lessons though. We've got a mom group.
There's five of us and we're going to do swim lessons at one of our friends pool. So I think it's going to be the cutest thing ever. And I'm really excited about it. But we're doing it for six weeks or eight weeks. I can't remember.
Anyways, with floaty's I see like. Again, I don't know this part yet because I haven't started like like I kind of like learn about the season that we're in. But something about if they wear floaty's they think they can swim. And they think they'll float. And then whenever they don't have the floaty's on, they don't realize they don't have the floaty's on.
I don't know. To learn about maybe somebody in the comments can tell me some safety things around that because I don't know it yet. But anyways, we are starting swim lessons. Speaking of swim lessons, let's talk about Newport now. Okay.
Because the cutest thing Bubbs did was she ran fully cloth into the ocean. Not by herself. I was holding her hand. Pulling naked.
“No, that's why that's why I faced time to you.”
She ran in. Oh, is it the trade show? Sorry. Yeah, here's something there. She ran in fully cloth.
And I was like, you are your father's child. And I was like, she's obviously going to feel how cold this water is. And we're going to back out of the water. And she wanted to go further into it. She was dipping her head into it.
And she was giggling like it was the cutest thing ever. Your mom and I were just like dying. Oh, I wish I saw this. Yeah. And then that's when we had to do the stirp down.
That's when I faced time to you. So, okay. So, Bubbs on the airplane. What we did do. You guys.
Was we said to it? Because like, I'm just a lot of times nauseous. And Harrison had Bubbs. And he was like, all right. And a pinch.
I'm going to show her a show. So we showed her. Did you show her Madagascar on the way there? Um, we had Blueie and Madagascar. Where the two that we tried.
When I tell you this child had no interest. She had. She just couldn't have cared less. I think she watched in aggregate three minutes of shows. And I think it's so funny how we spent so much time talking about screens.
And like, you know. Only for her to not care. Only for her to not care. I actually, I want to add one last thing on the bonding. Do it.
And the screens. Okay. I think that what I've really done is.
I've looked at our moments.
And the mornings are a great example.
And I really looked at them as a way. When we have one on one time together.
“Run the perspective of how can we bond through this?”
How can we have fun? How can we develop a great relationship? How can I help her develop and grow? Rather than how can I kill time? And so like in the mornings.
I don't wake up and just like put a show on. I don't do it. And I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it.
I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it.
I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it. I don't want to do it.
I don't want to do it. The other thing is like and I think I've been so surprised by her interest in participating. And so like cleaning. Rather than me putting a show on and distracting her while I clean the house. I bring her into the activity and she loves to help.
And is it anywhere close to his efficient? No. She loves to vacuum though. She thinks that's her vacuum. But she's learning and she's growing and we are also.
We are also bonding and that she spilled her water yesterday. And we gave her the towel and we're like, "Bubbs, do you spilled the water?" She gets down.
“I mean, she's not even wiping in the right spot, right?”
Like we clean it up afterwards. But she thinks she's wiping. Exactly. And we encourage her and we support her with positivity. And obviously we have a ton to learn as parents.
But I think this is one general mindset that I'm really proud of. The both of us take and that and that. Yeah, we can. Yeah, I think like we can get behind.
There's so many things we do wrong and we always.
It's about even we meet you guys out. We met so many of you at Expo West. And we always say we're just two idiots. Like we're just trying to figure it out. But one and which is so true because like we do not know what we don't know.
And we're constantly learning. But yeah, one area where we just, we're we personally enjoy. Maybe it's different for everybody, right? But it's just like an area that we love is doing things with her. Totally.
And so screens have not been a part of her life at all. We thought we were going to pass two hours on that airplane. We're like we're going to put it on. And it's to the point like on airplane. I mean, there's only so much you can do.
Like we ran the gamut of activities. And we ran right through him. Yes, she didn't want to watch. So I'm very curious as to why. I think one issue that was happening was she kept touching the screen,
which was like pausing it or switching it.
And like she always just wanted to touch the screen.
But I don't know. Yeah, she wasn't. And I'm sure like that'll change very quickly at some point. Well, so I made a video about this. And I was like, Bob's had no interest in the screen.
We did Madagascar. Apparently Madagascar is to advanced for her. Okay. Oh, good blue. Yeah.
And I remember I gave you blue to start with. But I didn't know she didn't like that because her and Harrison were sitting together. And you know what? I'll say this. Her and Harrison were sitting together.
And the girl in front of them offered me her seat. And I declined because it wasn't her problem that we didn't book to sit together.
“And it turned out to be the best thing ever because Harrison and I were both aisles.”
So Bubs could run back and forth to us. Not killed a lot of time. So that was great. These days we are all about quality over quantity, especially when it comes to our closet.
If it's not well made in versatile, it's just not worth it to me. It's not worth the purchase. And that's why we love quents. These fabrics feel elevated.
The cuts are thoughtful. And the pricing actually makes sense. We went to a basketball game. If you saw my TikTok on Saturday night. Harrison was wearing a quents top with the matching issues.
He looked so handsome. And the quality is truly top notch. You guys the way that they're able to have such high quality products. Like their cashmere sweater. They're mongolian cashmere sweaters that I'm obsessed with.
And they don't break the bank is they partner direct with factories. And they cut out the middle man. So they're able to pass on the discounts to you guys. They're they use 100% European linen. Their cotton poplan is crisp and it holds a shape.
Their gauze is soft without being flimsy. Everything quents makes is built to hold up. Season after season. The stitching, the bit, the fabrics. These are pieces you will reach for over and over again.
And I know I have. So right now go to quents dot com slash Alex for free shipping in 365 day returns. That's a full year to wear it and love it.
You will now available in Canada too.
Don't keep settling for clothes that don't last.
Go to qu i n c e dot com slash Alex for free shipping in 365 day returns. Quents dot com slash Alex. So you guys gave us so many tips in the comments on things to do with kids on the plane.
“And we have some some of these are mine that I think are the best thing to do.”
And some of these are from the comments which were great. So I think it's really like what I before you get into the tips. Like I think there are certain things in parenting that are like. As easier than you think and harden you think like keeping a child entertained. On an airplane over 12 months.
It is like it is so it is so hard. Keeping a child entertained on an on an airplane when they are over 12 months of age. It is hard is what you mean. Exactly. Like from zero to 12 months, baby on an airplane was.
Dream. An actor that and maybe it was zero if we go like more tech. I think it was zero to nine months was nothing bigger.
“I think nine to 12 is when it got a little trickier.”
But over 12 months like I very much. Like it feels like we are in an a void in airplane at all costs phase now. Moving forward and like only traveling for. Very, very good reason with her because like entertaining her is. So hard and I would love to hear what that what the suggestions are for how to do it.
As effective as possible. Because I need the tips. So these are the top five six things both that I think and some from the comments on how to entertain a toddler when you're flying when they're 12 months. To call it 18 months because that's all the insight we have. So far because it's 18 months old.
I'll say this off the top as a disclaimer. People say schedule it during nap time or during bedtime.
We've tried that she sleeps 30 minutes tops on an airplane like she always wakes up.
And so that method doesn't work for us. And then I find we're off for the whole day because we didn't get a quality nap. So I'm scratching nap time from the list and then these are things again. These are non screen time related things. So number one snacks and not just any snack interactive snacks.
So I love the solely bars because you peel them down and it's almost like they're eating a popsicle. And she finds that really fun string cheese is another example. Really fun and take loves grapes because what we do with grapes is I bite half and then she gets to eat the other half. And she just thinks that's like the funniest silliest most fun thing on the planet. So snacks and what we're going to do at the end of this is we're going to talk about real like time blocking okay.
So number one snacks number two this one was from the comments. I think it's genius.
I've never thought about it.
Rapping a present and giving her another one every 30 minutes because kids love to unwrap presents and it's so it takes so much.
“And then what do you think about this though putting something in the box?”
That what's in the box should be like another time extender. So like a solely like a fun snack for them to unpackage. I don't think it should be like a toy. A new toy. Because I don't want to get into there.
I don't want to think on the airplane she gets all new toy exactly. But another tip is it doesn't have to be a new toy. But a toy they haven't seen before or they haven't seen in a really long time. Not their favorite toy. But but something that's new to them or new to them in the past month I think.
Um occupies at least five minutes. And all these things we're trying to get 10 15 minutes max. Um okay blue painters tape. So this was one from the comments that I did try when we get home and it's putting blue painters tape. You know you you watered up and you stick it on the window and then they can take it off and put it on the tray table or on the seat or on mom's face or on that space.
And I think that's a really cute idea. So when we got home I found some blue painters tape and I put it on the fridge for her to take off and she's not that was really fun. But she thought it was fun for like three four minutes. Yeah, I think like what all of this is like coming like where all this is landing is like on the next flight. I think that we should come up with like create a full like checklist of different activities and like you don't have 10 of them on there.
And just like hope that we can you know get any of those activities any of my 10 to 30 minutes. And those will then make up the whole flight and like when one's done you just kind of check it off because I feel like like you know traveling with with kids over 12 months is like. Is such a challenge that like playing as much offense as possible is just super beneficial.
The way I think we would do it now is the present would be the starting point.
Be the starting point of the 30 minute block so you give her one present then you know okay we're going to do one snack. Yeah, then we're going to do blue painters tape. Okay, and then we're going to do window time so this is another hack and don't underestimate the power of the window try to get the window seat. She loves and it Harrison will say this it depends on how easy the window goes up and down right because sometimes they get a little bit more jammed than other times. That window can take up 30 minutes because it goes up down up that it is she goes up he's like she has so much fun with the window.
And it's just it's automatically there. Yeah, where it is so like you know tiring you know as a parent it's like. If you're into like when I watch you guys play on the window it's when I'm playing with her and they're like the more we're into it the more she's into it. And so like you can't if you're passive they're not going to find an engaging and so you really like need to be dialed and it's almost like.
The other thing I'd add which is critical is like.
“Critical to getting to airplanes is like the parents being rested because if we're rested we can be on our game and then we can entertain them in the best way possible versus like if we're tired.”
It's just going to it's just a slug. So let's call it what it is flights used to be a time where you could recharge. You could work and your screen time was at an all-time high but who cares because you get the Wi-Fi you scroll you watch the show it's the best. Totally. I did not touch my phone the entire flight there.
I gave it to you and we took off and then like forgot about it because. Flights now you you're you're totally correct you need to be energized you need to be well rested got to put your phone up like forget it you're not listening to a podcast you're not watching a show. Cause you got to be on the whole time with them at this age if you're not doing screens if you don't have a way to occupy them like. And you're so I'm constantly sweating on these flights because I'm like. If she starts to get a little antsy because of course she wants to run around I'm like oh my gosh we're interrupting everybody.
I don't handle it that well for some reason it just I just feel like the biggest inconvenience anyways back to the list okay. Music so we got her they're called hey day everyone's asking me this they're hey day headphones from Target they're purple purple pink. They were 1999 they blew to the phone their phenomenal quality their easy to use she loves the color their comfy they fit her little head. Play music on those create a playlist the wheels on the bus go around like we do that over and over again.
Yeah, so that's a good little ten-minuteer. I'd be curious if there's other headphones people like because like I do notice that like there comes a point in every flight like she just wants his headphones off.
“Yeah, and then like yeah maybe I think I do think though she's pretty fond of them.”
I think maybe we could try a different one but I do think she likes them. Yeah, but like as you as you just said like you know we're talking ten minutes fifteen minutes. But everything's ten minutes fifteen minutes. I feel like I wonder if there's like a headphone that like a child would wear for her. No I think I got to push back and was I think you nailed it we need to wear over the ear headphones.
Then it would become cool to her. She sees our air pods and she's always like this.
Why do you say I nailed it? Because on the flight you said if we were do not remember you like if we were wearing over the ear headphones. This would be really cool. You could have stolen that idea what if we got I said that. No I was like correct because like with her cast her cast becomes the coolest thing ever when we wear the cast.
“So I think I do think we could solve that immediately because our headphones are different than hers and I don't think she likes that.”
But I think hers are the she likes the color and their comfy so I think they're a win. Okay the bathroom trips. Don't underestimate the power of a bathroom trip don't even need to have to go to the bathroom. We go you gotta find the appropriate amount of time to go I'm pregnant I can go to the bathroom a lot. And nobody's gonna say anything.
But I think you can go nothing go twice in an hour. I think that's the appropriate amount of time to go to the bathroom with a toddler on an airplane. And sometimes we just go to the bathroom we bounce the two of us we hop hop hop and then we get to wash our hands which is really cool. And then we get to throw away the paper towels and the trash can and then we get to walk back to our seat. The problem I I like the aisle pacing Harrison doesn't as much and takes kind of a bad aisle paster because she tries to say hi to everybody.
And if they're sleeping she doesn't understand why they're sleeping and I always see her arm go like this and I have to put her arm back.
She it's flight it's flight attendant dependent and a lot of people don't lik...
And then we got to sit in the chair again.
“I think you're snoozing and you just like look up and it's just by the rent in your face.”
I just like this. And you're like oh you'd have to have a real sense of humor about it. Okay so wrap a present she gets most excited when she walks past like grandpas. Yeah she knows she knows a grandpa and she just wait and they're so nice back they're so sweet back. Wrap a present blue painters tape use the window bring interactive snacks go to the bathroom.
And then play music those are those are my tips. Oh I said the brought the present but put it on a timer and then every time she gets bored with one just boom flip we're in the end. And they're well rested and be well rested down here's my number one my number number number one thing. And it's easy and it's when she starts to squirm and I can tell like we we do not want to be sitting in this chair anymore.
I pull out my phone I don't count this screen time and I'll start pulling up photos of people I always start with data and we just pull up the phone and we go who is that.
And then we'll go who's this and you just play the who is this game and you have grandparents on there you have with Winnie on there people in her life that she knows and you can show her data every other photo and she thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
“Yeah this was I think far and away our most successful.”
So when you pulled out the phone and started showing her those photos like she was loving it and like you were doing such a good job and it goes back to like you were showing her the photos with excitement. You have worked like possibly just like swiping through the photos. I mean on the people yeah this is to bother running like you were making it the activity that it came to be and I just like. It's very motivating to see because that when I see you doing that especially you doing that pregnant okay whether it's the window gamer me then showing her photos or me you know having snacks or they're like.
You just you got to bring the heat.
You do you're you're a performer you are making sitting down the coolest thing ever on the airplane you are very good at it and the other thing is just remember. Don't let their ears get bad. So we will put in the pacifier I know some people are like we don't even still have a passing have a drink have a chewing something but play offense on the ears.
“We just do the passing yeah if I'm just saying don't let the ears get bad because I think it's really hard to recover from that.”
So keep the ears wide open and the moment I the moment me or hear some feel our ears start to pop we look at each other if one of us catches them are like ears and so. Just remember the little ears okay so that's our those are our airplane tips we we welcome any more that you have. People said download Miss Rachel do XYZ like we just we don't want to do that we have our shows we want to do I will say this there was oh there's a wheels on the bus show by it's RV app studios and he's like a little tiger I think.
She did like that one so we did a light screen time on the way back maybe 10 minutes and she did like playing the wheels on the bus with them so. And it felt very low stimulating and my number one fear with the screens was like when you know you see you hear when you take it away they're like I want more. I just she couldn't care less I don't know she just she just couldn't care less okay so we just been just chatting away we're not even going to get to. And so things we DM'd we'll just save our things we DM'd and things we learned this week our things we DM that I do want to do one of the next two weeks is the American Academy of Pediatrics updated their screen time guidelines for kids.
Yeah, which I think is highly applicable to this episode. But we're not going to do it so what we are going to do is in the comments section of my tiktok Instagram and the two parents account. We're talking a lot about maternity clothes and if a pregnant person can have their belly out should a pregnant person have a belly out. So we're going to break it up into two sections number one we're going to talk about maternity clothes sounds like a lot of people feel like I do which is maternity clothes number one they don't fit right and number two they're expensive number three you're buying them for a trimester which is three months and then they don't fit.
I find as a tall person like their high waters like everyone keeps saying just try maternity clothes and it's like I have tried maternity clothes.
They don't look good they don't fit me right and I don't I would just rather ...
I don't know like Abercrombie pants and just buy five sizes bigger like that to me is just my preferred method.
So I've tried the maternity clothes I don't like them maybe there's a site that I'm missing but they're largely I would say not for me now here's the other thing I really want to talk about. Should a pregnant person have their belly out or not a lot of people are commenting being like I don't understand why the stomach's out one girl message means she was like oh buy a bigger shirt. It's like you you started off the comment with you buy a bigger shirt okay number one you've lost me with the you but number two like.
It kind of reminds me of you being like I don't like your eyebrows or something like I do think pregnant you're just allowed to show your belly if you want just as if you if you're not pregnant you're allowed to wear crop top if you want.
“You're allowed to pick the length of your shorts if you want and I think belly is out is cute and I also think it's something to be celebrated maybe that's a modern take but.”
I think the belly is what it is I'm not going to go by shirts that are double XL that go over it just to make like one person feel comfortable when I like my shirts that I have they become way too short they just have but I'm just in belly out mode.
pregnancy is a beautiful thing and I think you look phenomenal and I support you in however you want to dress.
We'll never have for two and a where but I think I see a lot of people that are pregnant and they look so cute and they just have like a little crop because it's hard to find a shirt that's long enough. I mean these bumps the babies five pounds right now these bumps get big and so to find a shirt that goes over it. I mean sometimes I wear your clothes but I would rather wear I just would rather wear what I want to wear and I think when we get online we got to ask ourselves we got to ask okay what are some things we want to care about what are some things we want to let go right.
And areas where you care about is like okay great example is buffer in the the carrier where she used to not have her legs in the right shape people would tell us that that's something I like welcome.
Right there's like and I'm welcoming or I'm asking do you guys have any tips for flights like these are things. One area where I'm not asking you is if you think I should wear my stomach out or not. And I just think you just keep scrolling if you if I did it the opposite way that you did it but what cracks we have about these comments is somebody saying oh buy a bigger shirt just maybe want to buy a bigger shirt because. Olivia said you like I'm going to get a shorter shirt like Olivia I will definitely not do that because I just.
Who cares who cares but who cares why do you care you having a shorter shirt does not impact my life in the sightest in the app like at all and. The shirts are they're not enough. Who cares right I'm just like it's not your deal it's my deal to that time I feel about that. Was there anything else that I wanted to talk about oh she's like I did I do want to talk about this really quick.
“I think when we travel it unlocks milestones within tates brain I know that might sound crazy to say but I do feel like something that I thought about ever since she was born to now 18 months is when we come back from a trip.”
I noticed we've unlocked more words. I've noticed some kind of developmental something or another happens and I know that sounds crazy but this week what it is we got back from Orange County. You know those the neighbors names outside like she's talking about their names and I feel like she's starting to catch on to more words and maybe they're not correlated at all. But I feel like I've said this after most trips that we get back from she comes home to her environment that she's used to and she shows us some new thing.
“But it's much more coincidence versus causality as they say I think that really the development the developmental milestones that we're seeing her hit very much our line with what you would expect for someone.”
All right I think it seemed like right now is the period of her increasing her vocabulary exponentially and so I think that that like. I'm not saying she can think outside of what she should be doing I'm not saying we have some novel kid I'm just saying I noticed the second way at home it's like boom there this and I'm saying that's come I think that's coincidences I think you have like a two points in time to refer to like you have a before and an after versus if you were just home for those two weeks it would just be like the two weeks kept going.
Maybe that's what it is I just noticed we get home and I'm like wow we've lea...
Yeah something about it and I would be curious to know if anybody else at home experiences the same thing even if you like go to grandparents house for we can you come back to something about leaving and coming back unlock something in these little kids brains maybe maybe not I don't know.
“All right I mean let's save everything else for next week perfect.”
