Mama, how much do you love the big love?
Hmm, how? It's time and so creamy. Hey, how can Papa love me? Nutella, or from Mama's and dad's life, Nutella is Nutella. This world has become a big Britannia.
“In fact, it's the most important thing in this world.”
In the world, it's the most important thing in this world.
Hi, guys. Welcome to the official two parents in a podcast channel. Remember, like this video and subscribe to this page, so you don't miss episodes dropping every Monday and Thursday. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a podcast.
Hello, Alex. Hi, Harrison. We're so happy to have you back. I'm back. Extra happy.
That was a lot for me. But I had so many DMs saying they were so happy. It's great. I have something to say. Okay.
You know how people are like, I could have a podcast. I could do this. Like, it's just talking front of my, you look black out. It's like not that easy. Everyone does say that they can have a podcast, but I will say this.
I don't think people realize what goes into it. No. And like I sit and talk in front of this every week, but when it was just you and me, I felt the pressure. I know.
Well, it wasn't fair because we have so many requests to have jewels on the episodes. And they're on. I hope there's a day that jewel says yes, but she wasn't ready for that. That was an ambush. And it's a really unique dynamic because like the format is casual, open conversation
and banter, but then anything you say gets like put on record and so you're accountable to. And so it just creates like a really like unique dynamic around talking. So I, I, I'm glad that that you felt it, because I, I, I feel it too. It's like now you know.
Yeah, he's like excited. You got a dose. Harrison, you went home. You didn't feel good. You feel better.
You feel so much better. I have not been sick truly in years and I walked out of that of the studio, drove home and started throwing up within probably three minutes of walking in the door. Your body knows it knows just a hold on until I get home. I like felt the weird, you know, number one, the appreciation I had for you and your pregnancy.
Obviously, I'd given so sick throughout pregnancy and I was just sitting back, oh my goodness. Like, she wakes up and is dealing with this for months on end.
So it gave me a massive, well, I'll never feel pregnancy, it gave me a massive appreciation
for, um, for all the, the nausea you deal with, but, um, it was, I was so sick.
“Like, I, I, I don't ever remember being that sick.”
It was 12 hours of like, something in it. It was, what was so weird as it was nausea, but it was like physical body aching pain. Yeah. Like it felt like someone had just, like, put up on your weights on, on my body. And then the weirdest thing.
So Thursday, I was fully, fully out of it, unresponsive. Friday was like, what I would consider standard sick. Yeah, normal. Yeah. Like, what a normal sick would be, um, you know, still in bed all day, but like, I could
say, hello, I couldn't talk Thursday. I could not talk Thursday, but Friday night you were completely fine. And yeah, I turned the corner at like probably five. And then I woke up Saturday morning, 100%. Okay.
How did you work at class Saturday morning? Oh my god.
Like, I was, like, it was the biggest, I've never, like, seen the switch flip like
that. You were so back. Yeah.
“Yeah, I think that, um, you just have, I don't know what you had, but I'll say this.”
Since I've known you, I've only seen you be sick, kind of like a cold sick once. Never bed ridden. I've never seen you bed ridden because I don't think you get bed ridden very often. And so I didn't know how you were going to be. I think the last time I was bed ridden.
I think I had like a 24 hour bed red bed ride bed ride in the like in the first week or two of us dating. You did. I think it's the last time I was sick.
Two years ago.
Yeah. And that was a real bonding moment, like the first two years that they're the first two weeks that we're dating. And but hold on, what I was saying is I didn't know, you don't know how to come.
I was going to be when they're sick when I'm sick.
“If I'm throwing up, what do I want you to pat my, like rub my back?”
Yep.
And I think that's because whenever I was little and I was sick, my mom was always there
with me. Right. Like my parents, like they didn't care if they got sick. Of course, like I could sleep in the bed with them or something like, you know what I mean? And I didn't know how you were going to be.
And it was really cute because you were like, wait, why would you leave the room? And I was like, oh, and so I just sat in bed beside you and did stuff on my laptop. But your mom must have been the same way because you like, having me in the room. And I thought that was really precious. Yeah.
It's funny. You say that like, I don't even like, I know you on Thursday in bed. You didn't want me to leave the room. And guess how I would get you to go to sleep? I would like rub your legs because I always think you can sort of distract them from the
pain. Like your stomach goes really hurting. Rub is legs. He won't be able to stomachs about it. And then I would see you start to dose off.
I don't like Thursday is truly a blur. You got your butt kick. It's truly a blur. Some sicknesses every couple years you just get rocked. What I was going to, I had two, two comments to talk about.
The first day is, I feel like me getting, when we first started dating, like, I think
it was in the first two weeks. Me getting sick, I feel like would have been a great opportunity to give you the egg. Like, yeah. This guy is in, cause at that point I was like, in your bed, like, for, that was like more of a standard.
But I was like in your bed for 24 hours, I mean, I get this sick guy out of my bed. I think that could have been a big egg moment. 100% that luckily didn't happen. No, I liked you so much. I was like, how do I help him?
And do you know, hold on, sorry, sorry to interrupt you. But I thought the same thing at the time. This would be the moment where I would be like, you dude. And instead I was just like, oh, how do I make him feel better? Yeah.
I already liked you so much. So that was a transit. That was a break through of our relationship that we didn't realize happened. And then, and I, the second year was a very comfortable there. And then although I also, like, that apartment gives me looking back on it, gives me the
HVGVs, like I know you think it was light to me that was like the darkest department. Oh, I thought there was so much natural light.
“But the only thing about it is I was so sick in that apartment.”
I can't think of it. Yeah. And then the early joules days. Yeah. And then the second thing, I, you, one year, the best caretaker ever to the, the added thing
you did, which like, yes, I know is a splurge. But I think truly saved me is you at an IV come to the house and pump me full of electrolytes and hydration and nausea meds and that happened Thursday afternoon and that was, that's when I came back. Yeah.
It, it helps. It's because I, whenever I went to whenever I was sick any time, not any time. But the two times I've been really sick this pregnancy and I go to where we're in delivery and they give me the hydration IV. I do think dehydration.
I think we, not take it for granted. We just, we don't take it, my gosh, this is so pregnancy-rated me. How do you say, like, we don't put enough emphasis on it? Just, we don't appreciate enough. We don't put enough weight behind what hydration can do and when you're throwing up as much
as you were like, you're dehydrated and like you couldn't keep water down so an IV does a lot. No, thank you so much, but moving on from my sickness because that is nothing in the grand scheme of things and like, especially when you're a pregnant, what should we talk about today?
Well, what I want to talk about is your phone call slots. And I think Joel's and I have talked about this before, but you called me today at nine and I was so dizzy, I missed it and I was like, I'll call them back.
But the problem is I called you back and you had moved on because you, if, if one person
doesn't answer your phone, go, I think this is what you do. But I think you start with Alex Cost, then I think you moved to Joel's night, depending on who you need to talk to. If one of us has answered and you call the other one and then I think you've got about five other people that you call.
So if we miss your phone call, we don't get to talk to you for like, we don't get to talk. Like, I don't, I didn't talk to you till you got here.
“You have to answer on the first person you have to or he's on to the next one.”
This is a perfect call out. It is so true. Today number one on the list was actually Royce, the floor guy. Okay, see that one thing. Royce the floor man.
What? I know. Royce is my first call this morning. At what time? Say.
We can pull the receipts. Royce. Roll the receipts. We were on the phone at seven, 20. I think.
Oh, well, yes. Sorry.
I had an eight o'clock practice meeting.
Okay.
So I spoke to you before the practice meeting and then I spoke to Royce at 857 right out
of that. We had a good productive two-minute call and then... I didn't invite you to share it. At 859, he did not at 859 I called you and then you did not answer and so nine o'clock was my next call.
Who did you call Alex Cost? Alex Cost was the next one. And it Alex answered. As you did. So then I called back in 904 and I didn't get answered.
“Getting there is a full, but who gets called consistently changes?”
I think it changes the order but I think you have the same top five people. For sure. That you call. But you can't really walk in silence. Oh, I definitely, I'm either on a podcast or on a call.
Music or on a call? Oh, okay. Not silence. But there is fully... I don't just call one person.
You're right. That's a good call. No. And then if we don't answer, I think Jules, I think one time Jules is on the set of tissues. You lose your slot.
Because I have trying to talk to Harrison by a loss of my slot. I was like, oh my gosh, there are slots and then I felt it this evening. And then we're challenging is like, I'll typically, the calls are in between another call or meeting. Yeah.
And then you got to go and you got to hurry up. And the other thing we're dealing with is we have our first flat tire, which I saw. So, the air pressure and I just, I can't even have enough time, it could be a whole podcast episode. It'd be such a boring episode.
But the freeze happened and my, the air and the tires went down, which is normal, but
then they never really recovered.
Anyways, we have a lot of construction on our street, but there's a nail on the tire. I don't know, but I've been putting air in these tires trying to get the sensor to go up for four weeks now. And Harrison and neighbor T went to HGB yesterday and then he called me and said, we have a flat tire.
Here's what I've learned this morning. Number one, HGB is a parking garage and they're parked on the underground level. Can I jump in? No.
“So, that because I'm the one that's learned this so far, can you find jumping?”
Well, I bet you don't know this one thing that I know. Okay, let's hear. That word that we are not, because she said what year's your car said, it's 2025, maybe is 26. I don't know.
She said, well, then you can call roadside assistance and they'll tow it for free, because you should not have a flat tire yet. And I said, okay, Harper's towing, I'll try to call them one time if they don't answer call in you back and I want you to tow it. So, a couple things, I thought that like the thing was malfunctioning, like the tire pressure.
What? I didn't think there was a chance we were going to get a flat tire. Because when you look at the tire, it looked fine. Yeah, and like this is just like, I'm wish I took the car into the tire shop. Me too, we talked about it.
I have so much regret, so that's number one, I just feel like a dummy and I will take accountability on it. The second piece to it, I'm doing a lot of one-two today. Good, one-two it out, honey. This is one of my problems with the education system, okay, in what world do we go to school
for whatever it is, 15 years? And they don't teach us how to change a tire.
Like, what a crucial life scale that everyone should know how to do and we just haven't
learned it. So, we're sitting there with this flat tire and I'm like, I have no idea what to do. And I'm thinking like, did I was not paying attention when I should have learned and like,
“no, when do you learn how to change flat tire now, neighbor T, new exactly what to do?”
The problem was we, the car didn't have a piece that it needed to change the tire. So to like, unscrew the bolts, you needed an attachment because our bolts aren't standard size and we try to couple other ones from other cars and they didn't work and the one that Ranger gave us didn't work, so we couldn't change it, but he tried. He jacked the car up, I was like, what?
No, but this is, he sprung into action. Of course, I mean, that is like, but that's where we're so young and young, like, sometimes he needs AI drawings, if his landscaping, that's where you step in, right? Sometimes we need a tire change, that's where he steps in. But where I think it comes into play.
I just got to say, there's, there's just like two types of people in this world. And like, there's person A when your tire is flat, it's like, what do you do? You change it and there's person B, what do you do? Your tire is flat and their mindset is, who do you call?
You get a towed.
Right.
Right away, he's like, your tire is flat, I was like, oh, no, so you got to change it,
I was like, ah, change the tire. He's the phone number we call to figure out how to change the tire.

“No, but I like don't think you need to get it totally either.”
You just need, it's so hard we can't drive on it. But you need someone to just come, put the dough on it on like a triple A, do you guys have triple A? I don't think you need a triple A. I don't, I don't think you need a toe, I told you that I don't think we need a toe.
Yeah.
There was never, there was never the plan.
Well, I called the Land Rover dealership and they're not going to go out there and change it unless you call them and press them. Yeah, I'm going to have to call them. And just so we clear the reason why Alex called is because I had that idea meeting and they weren't open yet.
Well, I don't think they were open yet. Maybe they weren't. I should have called. I thought they opened a date. I don't know, but they're, I don't know, but it's a bit like I do, okay, here's where
I think you learn how to change a tire. You're. They opened a date there. Somebody. Thank you for calling.
You're welcome. Somebody in your family teaches you. This is what I was thinking about yesterday when you said where in school do they teach you how to change a tire?
“Did anybody teach you how to write a check in school?”
No, but this is why I think our education system needs a complete revamp is like we need to focus on real life skills as opposed to you know, a bunch of these just like random learnings. Well, what is more in life like, what would you use more in life algebra or writing checks?
Well, the one, the one consistent problem I have is like, why did I have to learn long division? Yeah, so it's ridiculous. But I do think a cool field trip could be going to change a tire. I guess 100% or or learning how to address the letter what's going to happen when your
autonomous vehicle like you may not know how to drive here's the crazy thing. In the future, it's going to be more important to know how to change a tire than it is to drive because you're going to be in a autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle is going to get confused. It's going to drive into a construction zone.
It's going to get a nail in. It's not going to realize it. It's going to, it's going to pull over on the side and you're going to have to get out and change that tire. Wait, who does change the autonomous vehicle?
The human. There's a massive, massive, yeah, there's a massive thing going around on to it right now. Like all the Twitter receipts are like, let's start a trade school. Let's start a new trade school and I do think it's a great idea like the value of or
there's so much value that it's going to be accrued at at the trade level moving forward. There's going to be a resurgence in terms of societal value on those roles, which I just like love. Like we've, as a society, rewarded engineers so much over the past decades and when I say reward, it's largely in regards to compensation and yeah, the AI is like shifting that
another way. I actually think that's really cool because I do love the trend of like, AI is going to take your job and it's like a guy making a smoothie or something and he's like, when? Yeah.
Or like a plumber changing out of toilet once a day I take my job.
The reality is like, okay, so you're going to have a robot making the smoothie
sure. But then when the robot dot when the robot like dies or has an issue and making the smoothie, it's going to be human that comes in and fixes it. Right. Who's the, who's the electrician that comes in and fixes the robot?
You're just, you're really taking us down a rabbit hole here. True. What are you jumping out over there? Well, I had just seen, and I was trying to Google it, did you see the article that was like Spotify's engineers haven't coated anything since December all from AI?
Uh, yeah. So, so the, there's a massive shift that's undergoing Microsoft, just really some form of study, like, coating is now largely being done by, uh, by AI tools, which is fine, right?
It's fine unless that's your job and, and the, um, the expectation is that's the first wave
of mass job losses is, is, is the engineers. And so if you see Jack Dorsey's company block, which used to be known as square, uh, I think they laid off 30 to 40% of the workforce last year. Well, yeah. And those largely engineers, that's really sad.
Yeah. But I, I think that, that when you, when you look at history and these large technological shifts have, have happened on the back end, they do create more jobs.
“It's just different type of jobs and that's why right now it's so important to have a dynamic”
outlook and say, right, how is this technology affecting my job? How do I embrace it? Because those who embrace it are going to win and those who fight it are unfortunately likely going to get left in the dust. Well, two things.
One, I think the sad part is it happened. It didn't seem like it was going to happen this fast and then boom it's here, which is kind of the article you sent the other day last week, I think, which is just like, we need to pay attention to AI, we don't need to fight AI because like it is coming in and it's coming in a big, big, big, big, impactful way.
And then boom, you see a company lay off 30 to 40%. Like, I just think if you weren't paying attention to it, it just like slapped you in the face. So that's one token of it. But the other token of it is, yeah, you have to stay.
I just hope these engineers that are like 35 years old, right, because that's like a, that's an age where I think it's sad. We're like, they didn't see AI coming when they were in school. It chose to be an engineer and now they're in, you know, debatably the peak of their career, age wise as they would think, and then you get slapped with this.
Yes, but it's also a tool that if they leverage correctly, can make them exponentially more impactful at their job.
“That's what I'm saying though, I hope, ever.”
My point is I hope they have that mindset. Like, open AI just bought a one person company for North of a billion dollars. I mean, that's not right.
That would have never possible before.
Yeah. So it's all about mindset right now, people do they have to just ride the wave and adjust with it. Yeah. Yeah.
It's a really, really exciting time. I have a really positive outlook as long as your eyes are open and you're willing to learn and, and I think that's a great way to think professionally. I think we should pivot off of the AI. Okay.
I think we did it. I think we always, this is a, this podcast loves AI largely because, listen, I wouldn't even be probably using it if it weren't for you. So, kudos to you because you're just, you're an early adopter. Okay.
Let's talk about this weekend. So I had a sprinkle, if you will, which I love, I don't know who decided to go from shower to sprinkle the drizzle in terms of kids and water pressure. Where did that come from?
“Did you ask, like, I think shower probably came first, baby.”
They're like, what's baby number two? They just people. I think she's saying why is it called a shower and maybe you want to shower the baby with love. Great question.
Where did the name baby shower come from? Like, why we calling it a shower? Why should we shower? Why should we shower? It is a party designed to literally shower the expectant mother with gifts, love, and
support. Okay. Okay.
So, then the second one is a drizzle.
No, sprinkle. Sprinkle. You sprinkle her with. So, yeah. So please give her rundown of your events this weekend and how they compare to your
expectations. Well, I had to say shout out to my mom group text because they were the ones that threw it for me. And I was like, listen, I want to do a 10 person lunch. Like, I want to keep it, I think it ended up being like, maybe 14 people.
But like, I was like, I want to keep it small.
I want to keep it easy, fun, and just like, you know, low key.
They, it was not, they didn't, they didn't make it overwhelming by any means.
They made it so special, beautiful, well done. Like, I cannot stop thinking about it because they just did such a good job. Yeah, I think they totally nailed it. They nailed it. Yeah, you, you said the word special and it felt really, really special.
Well, it, it was two things. It was special, but it was fun. Like, you came in. Harrison came the last like 30 minutes to say hi, bring flowers, say hi to the girls. And he was like, he just came over to me and the court and he was like, how was I said,
here's some, I had so much fun.

I am eight health dot com slash two parents, code two parents. So why don't we give a rundown, where was it, what was it, what made it fun, would love to hear like, even in this transition, transitions into it, what makes a good baby shower,
“what makes a good sprinkle, what are the to-do's, what are the not-to-do's?”
So I think they did two things really well, the don't, the not-to-do's. They did two things so so so well, number one, they had a really cute theme, teenies and weenies, which I saw, I don't know, three years ago and just remember, it was like one day if I have a boy, I would love to do something with that. So they took teenies and weenies and they did such a good job.
Now, budget aside, okay, like if you're listening from home when you're, so you have a theme, you can do martinis, cute, and they had pigs in a blanket for the weenies. And they had those like passed out when people were walking in. So like yes, people could order apparel sprites, I had coffee lemonade, they had drinks for pregnant people, drinks for non-pregnate people, but martinis and weenies were like the anchor,
which just I love, I mean, I'm a theme girl, so they had it, they did have it at a private room here, if you live in Austin, it was the, it's the Jeffrey's private dining space.
“It was awesome, but I think like just doing it at someone's home, doing it at, you can”
do it anywhere, I just think the number one thing is having it not like with a bunch of people around. A closed off space. Yeah, so we were able to talk and we were able to have fun and we were able to be silly and we were able to play a game.
So I thought that was really nice. The three tips on a successful shower are one, two, a closed off space and three play a game. I used to talk about the game. So our dear neighbor girl, she texted everybody and she was like, tell me a funny thing about you that people that people might not know.
For example, what was the example she used, I don't know, the one I submitted was I snuck out the only time I ever snuck out in high school was to go to a walk of flock of flame concert. But by the time I got there, I felt so bad I ended up just calling my parents and telling
Them, like, do you know what I mean?
So something silly like that. The other one I gave her was I broke in my nose three times. Have I told you my walk of flock of story? No, a fellow walk of flock of? Do you know how big walk of flock is?
Like, size wise. Yeah, you like, you like see these people on Instagram and what, you know, so on and so walk of walk is massive. He's like six five. Oh, I don't think I knew that.
Yeah, he's a huge dude.
He never even came on the night that I went.
Okay. I wanted to hear no hands so bad when we were at flock at a booth at the sweet and sweet and snacks expo.
“There was a company that had a booth beside us and I think he like has an alcohol or”
something and so he was at the booth beside us and he was there for a couple of hours. And so we hung, talk some flocks, seem like a phenomenal guy. Yeah. Well, the flock guy and you have flocked, did he like, did he? I don't think anything came of it, but it's still name.
I have no idea. Let me under, we probably spoke for 30 seconds, but he seemed like a lovely guy. Oh, I think he's great. He was very charming. He was very famous, Joaquin.
So Joaquin makes sense. Okay, Joaquin, walk of flock at 11. Yeah. Like he was very engaged when he was there. Well, I love it.
He was there for a couple hours. Let me. He's vegan. Yeah. Walk of flock is vegan.
What? It's the first thing that comes up. I don't think so. I don't think so. I'm quite sure he tried the product.
Wait. There's a YouTube video. Joaquin, Joaquin. He stopped eating vegan. Okay.
Why is that the first thing to come up? I was like, I like it. Yeah. Chicken stick. This goes back.
That's the reason he's no longer vegan. He tried flock. He tried this brand called flock in it.
“Well, I know nothing about him beyond that.”
And I know there's one or two of songs of his that I really like. No hands. I love it.
But I never got to see it.
I don't remember who his opener was. Anyways. So everyone submitted a fun fact about themselves. Let me think of it. Everyone.
I've been birthmarking the back of my throat. Yes. Exactly. Just like that. Yeah.
Your two truths in the lie. So she passed out of piece of paper. And it was listed off like one through 14. And then she had everyone's name at the top. And she would read.
Okay. Number one who snuck out to a walk of flock of concert. And everyone would guess who it was. So they would write it down. They'd be like, oh, he that was jewels.
And then you'd go to the second one. Okay. Who is the birthmarking the back of the throat? Oh, I think that's Alex. And then she went through and would say.
So then we went to the back of the beginning. And she would say, okay, stand up.
“If you were the one who went to snuck out to go to the walk of flock of concerts.”
So then I would stand up and everyone would be like, the bet. The reason this game was so good is because it wasn't a solo game. It was a unifying game. So let's say some people at the lunch didn't know each other super well. You were just like bantering back and forth.
Like one girl's was she had never missed a word and a spelling bee.
One girl was homecoming. One girl was a baton twirler in high school. One girl owned 11 hamsters. Like it was just fun. 11 hamsters. That is so fun.
It was so funny. 11. 11. Not at once. We asked.
We really got one time. Oh, okay. So that's different. Yeah. One girl was blind for a week.
Who? They were girl. What? Had no idea. Blind?
Blind for a week. What do you mean? She had something popped off and hit her in the eye and she went blind for a week. Oh, okay. She was just like wake up blind.
No. No. And then I'm trying to give other ones. Baton twirler in high school. Someone was in a Walmart commercial.
Was it you? No. It wasn't me. They kept everyone thought that one was me. I was the walk of vlogger concert.
Anyways, it was so. We laughed. We ate. I loved this too. They had pancakes.
Donut holes. Yeah. You haven't like give us the, give us the details of the event. Okay. So you walk in in like the room was painted green.
All the host were wearing green. And I ironically was also in green because it was the only dress that fit. Like everyone was dressed up. They looked cute. The vibes were high.
Like they were serving drinks. I love it a baby shower just because like you can't drink. I love it. Everybody else gets to. I was chugging my lemonade.
And then I had three, what I realized I had like three groups of friends there. They are all very meaningful to me. Right. So I have my mom group text because like motherhood bonds you in a different way. Right.
And then I have my girl group text which is like, We'll talk about anything. Like we'll talk about who's watching love story. Right. With Carol and the set Kennedy.
Like fashion. Yeah. Fashion. Like I would be friends with these girls in any city. And I love them and they're fun and they're so fit.
One common thread throughout the model is their fun.
And then I have my pregnant girls who I love because we're just like talking about unison.
Right.
“And then I just everybody there meant so much to me.”
I didn't like I had to entertain anybody. And they were all very special in my life. So it was, it was just, I don't know how to explain other than I had a blast. They had a photo booth. They had a cake.
I love a cake. They was seated. So they had cookies with people's names on it. And you sat there. They had a personalized menu. Like they crushed every single detail.
I was shocked. Like I was overwhelmed. Yeah. Amazing that I couldn't. I was blown away by like the level of detail that they nailed and thought.
Which was fantastic. And then the second thing.
When I walked into the room was like just amazing reflection of okay.
Why do we love awesome so much? It's the community and what is that community. It is anchored by the people in that room. Yeah. They're why Austin is home.
Yes. And there was a moment where I was sitting talking to some girls. And they run businesses. Also moms. And I was just like these people like they're really kick ass.
Like I love being around them. They're energies infectious. The way they think about things is infectious. So I don't know. I just think who's around yourself with you know.
Really impacts how you think and what you want to do. And I was just proud. That was a word that I had like looking at all the hosts. I text them all. I was like I was just really proud to have you guys throw it for me.
I was really proud of all the people in the room. Like I just I love my crew here in Austin. So anyways, the the shower, the drip, the sprinkle in summary. Great theme. Great game.
Great space. The last question the three those three recommendations. Yeah. Okay.
And I always feel like there's a fourth.
Which is like don't like the fourth from what I heard from you. It's like do the little things like print the custom menus. Yeah. Get the get the little cookie. Break the little cookies whether you order them or bacon.
And that all brings it together.
“Are those recommendations for just a shower or shower and a sprinkle?”
And if so, how would you delineate your recommendations for a shower versus a sprinkle? Well, on the shower people go because it's your first baby. Yeah. Right. And so I think the sky is the limit on the shower.
Personalized monogram balloon out as much as you want. Right. For me, they did the level of detail for a shower. Where it felt like a sprinkle was numbers. Right.
I don't think you have a lot of showers that are sit down lunches, but because we were a small number, we were able to do a sit down lunch with lots of cute detail. So I really recommend for a sprinkle doing a sit down lunch because not not one where you order where they just brought out the food. You didn't stop talking. Like we were just chatting the entire time the flow was perfect.
And what would it have been the same at like someone's house? Absolutely. Yeah. Because what you're describing, you're like, it feels like it would have been a blast if it was even at our place. Yeah.
If you're listening from home like wherever you do it, listen, the pro of doing it at a restaurant, you know, is no the hosts weren't bringing over the food. So the hosts were like engaged. We were sitting down chatting. It was great.
Love it. Love it. Because I'm like, I gotta say, I was like really overjoyed by it. I still am. I just think back to it.
And I just had so much fun. And they did such do little things. That's a really good point. Like the cookies. They had the flower backdrop.
Like they had a cake. It was just like really, really sweet.
“And I think when it comes to planning a shower or a sprinkle, just remembering like the little details do matter.”
You know, they are special. Amazing. So my girls made me feel very special. You guys know, I am obsessed with skims. I'm wearing their bra right now as we speak.
And at home, what's drying is my new. It's my new shorts and great. It's I got gray shorts with a gray tank top that goes on top. I'm wearing it all the time. I wore it every day in Miami.
They have the cutest basics and the best part about the bra's and the underwear is they used to be an afterthought. And now I'm like, I love wearing bra underwear because they are so comfy. And whenever I go home, I don't think, oh, I can't wait to take my bra off. Because it just feels like I'm wearing a t-shirt. It's not restrictive.
It's not uncomfortable. They truly make the best bra's the best underwear and the best basics. I cannot recommend skims enough.
Especially if you're pregnant because the things are cute.
They are timeless.
“They are stylish and most importantly, they are comfortable.”
And one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to bras is when they dig into your skin or feel so uncomfortable that you're constantly adjusting it. And it's hard for you to find a good everyday bra. I am telling you the skims. I've got the strapless one and I've got the strapless one. I wear them under every single thing.
I wore them nonstop in Miami. The skims.
It's a game changer for bras and underwear.
So shot my favorite bras and underwear at skims.com. After you place your order, be sure to let them know we sent you select podcast and the survey. And be sure to select our show and the drop down menu that follows. Okay. We are going to expo this week.
Okay. I'm also I'm just trying to look at IDM something last night that I was really into. And so I don't want to forget it. I have a very, very controversial take. What is it?
Do you want to expo our controversial take? Well, I can just glaze over expo really quickly. I think we're meeting bones podcast. So let's talk about expo. Speaking of meeting bones we had meat last night.
And where you officially know your neighbors are part of your family is when neighbor tea cooked the meal in our kitchen. And I was like we've made it. Yep.
“Like we've really just got there with them.”
And that was really a fun time. Okay. Expo. Harrison's mom's coming. Kathy.
Which would be really fun because we haven't had. Quickly if I'm wrong. Have we had a grandparent come on a trip to watch the taught ski. No, but like I'm sure some listeners in the back. Yeah, you did in this city.
Like I don't know. I don't think we have. No, because. I don't know you have you there. What basically both grandparents have watched her in Austin when we haven't been there.
But pretty much all of like all of her time is either with them in Austin or Oklahoma City or Vancouver. Yeah, but now it. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Not on a trip.
Oh. Right when she was born. We were in Hawaii. Hawaii. That was a family trip.
That wasn't like that wasn't somebody came. Yeah. That was a family trip that buffer went on correct. Yeah, I think that's different. Yeah.
Your mom is like coming to help. Yeah. Also though what's special about this for your mom is she gets to go to expo to see you. Yeah. She came to our first ever trade show.
Which was called fancy food and it was in San Francisco and her and Alex is mom flew down for it. And they were so cute. Did she wear a flocks shirt? Was she so proud of you?
Um, that was the first brand we ever debuted which never ended up actually launching.
It was a bit of a pump fake. It was called Avo Crazy. And it was an Avo Cotto puff.
“I remember this tells about and why didn't you launch the Avo Crazy Avo Cotto puff.”
Because I would eat that. There was a massive ingredient issue. Meaning. Avo Cotto's. The powder that we were using.
Oh, it just wasn't, it wasn't up to your standards. Yeah. And you know what? It's a story for another time. Okay.
Let me talk to Alex cost about what I can and can't say on that because it's actually a really good story. Okay. Well, the Avo, she came to the trade zone not for Flock. She came for the Avo crazy. Yeah. What a name guy. It was so much.
It was like. Yeah. And when you do Avo Crazy Flock, um, Rob's popcorn. Are these all under the naked market? Naked market owns all of me.
Okay. Or is a, or is a significant owner in all of me? So Avo Crazy was part of that. Who came up with the name Avo Crazy?
At this point, like you never know who actually came up with the name.
Whether it was Alex or me or I met. What? Oh, oh, I met. Yeah. I remember there. Um, okay. So this time we'll be the Flock booth. Um, and yeah, I'm excited.
I love getting to support you because I feel like you're always supporting me. And so anything I can do with Flock makes me really happy. Thank you. Although I can't seem to get a text back from you. Now, it's about what Hallward.
Uh, I can, I can't set it back there. I have a bit of number. I'll say one change I'm making to the program this year is normally we do a big dinner. So it starts Wednesday. Normally we do a big dinner Tuesday night. Where do you do it?
Um, it's different every year. It's at P of change every year. No, the team dinner is on Thursday. Oh, that's happening. Okay.
I was in the same. But it's also strategically on Thursday this year. Okay. Okay. Is we, is normally like before expo, I do a big dinner with industry people.
Okay. But then you wake up that it starts Wednesday morning. And Wednesday, nine. And nine is the bot is nine. Detends the buyers only window.
So like the problem is every year the choose day dinner just runs so late.
Because everyone's having a great time.
“And not doing a choose day dinner this year.”
So that way Wednesday morning. We're there. We're fresh. We're locked in because we like what's so unique about expo. So it's nine to six everyday buyers come by the booze.
So you are like action packed. But then there's events tonight. So each event, you'll go to that are hosted by different investors, investment banks, law firms. So it's like three, you go to three plus events tonight.
So it is, it is a long long action packed few days. It's our Super Bowl. Yeah. So the goal of trade shows for this neck industry. So hold on, everyone has booths and they line these hallways.
And these it's convention center. And I mean, they line hall after hall. I mean, there's an uncomprehensible amount of people there. Is this correct?
The whole food's buyer will be walking around.
They would pop over to a booth. They would say taste the product of egg. I love this. And then they would order it. No.
So you then typically set up a follow-up time to discuss something that they've interest in. So our sticks are a great example of an item that we've shown a lot of retailers. But a lot of retailers. We just haven't had the opportunity to get in front of them because of timing. Maybe the relationship doesn't exist with that specific buyer.
And so they'll come by and they'll be able to taste like most buyers at this point. Have seen the skins. Right. Right. And so the focus of our booth very much will be the sticks.
But also some new skins flavors. So we launched Benny Hanna. Maybe some buyers haven't had the chance to see Benny Hanna yet. And if they and some of you just catch an up with just managing relationships. Yeah.
“And I think it's really important like in our industry.”
I can go part of the reason why we like going XBOS is it's a big commitment. You have a lot of team members there. And so what it shows retailers is, hey, we invest in our brand. Like we show up. And by say what I say we invest in the brand.
It also means you'll invest in supporting a brand when when you're in their store. Ah. That's a good look. Yeah. It's a good look to have.
Okay. Well, I'm excited. It's also out in Orange County, which I love. So it's just a fun tradition. And I said this last time, but what my belly she went last year and she's going this year and hopefully she goes every year.
Which is really exciting and then hopefully Baba starts to come. I showed Baba okay. So this morning she wants to come. I know you're right. You're right, you're right, Mr.
I don't know. Don't get a name. Well, nobody. It's really great name. A nickname.
Yeah. Baba. But brother. I liked Mr. Junior.
Junior. Oh, that's cute. We did kind of narrow it down to fourish names. Like, because our neighbor gave us really good advice. Not not when he's parents, but one of our other neighbors that has three grown kids.
And she just said, you've got so much going on in the hospital. Don't go to the hospital without a name. And I was like, well, I could go to the hospital in a minute. So I started texting here as a name yesterday. Just because I want to, I want to start seeing him written out.
I haven't taught choice that you don't seem to like. So. Okay. This is one thing that I want to nail home for everybody listening. What I'm looking for names is what I like about tate is it's unique.
But it's not trendy.
“And that's what I'm looking for with a boy name.”
I'm looking at the name you sent yesterday. I sent you four names.
And I typed them out because I think you got to see it written first in last name.
So you have to see it with tate and. And so I have a word. I'll just say this. We're starting to narrow it down to four or five. Yeah.
In looking at how all these are written. I think what I will say is I think I'm out on. Okay. That's my second favorite. But I'm not loving how.
Is showing up. Okay. We're going to believe that, but because I think it still could be. Okay. But I wanted I'd be interested to know if I'll change on that.
So it's good that we have it even believed on the record. But I was looking at tate this morning. And I was like, you just you look like a tate. The second the second name you sent. And I guess we can just read the two of.
Is really good. It's my favorite. It looks really good. It's my current favorite. Tate like they just have the same exact vibe to them.
And we can call them. We can call them. And shout out to the DMs because somebody just message me that. And I read it. And I was like, that's I like that.
I'm calling them. Yeah.
Sure can.
Um. What? Bubble. That's really funny. That's actually funny.
That might be it. But we're in. Anyways, I showed she wanted to look at photos of you. So I showed her a photo of you. But it was like an old photo of like,
I don't know, it was a 10 months ago. And so she was really little. And she was like, Baba. Well, I was like, well, no, it's you. But kind of like she just thinks a little baby is Baba.
Yeah. Yeah, she does that with the engagement book all the time. Yeah, she says Baba. Um, which is cute. You guys know I'm pregnant.

Always a hot take. Like I'm just waiting with faded breath. Okay. Yes, jewels. Thank you.
I met the airport a couple of weeks ago and I go to the automated checkout. And I think I got a couple of breakfast tacos. And yes, it was when we were going to Miami and a water. Okay. And it asked me for a tip.
And initially I just get like so triggered. I'm like, "Who am I tipping?" "Who am I tipping?" But then changed the perspective. How did the food get there?
Okay. So, okay.
I saw some going viral, which was basically we can put the tweet up.
But someone was getting really upset because they were staying at a hotel. The hotel comp the breakfast. And then they got a bill with a comp breakfast but requesting a tip. And they were like super pissed that they were asked for a tip. And I thought I was completely unreasonable to not think you would tip even if the breakfast was comp.
But then it got me going down the rabbit hole of do you tip the...
“What do you call the cash registers with no one there?”
Sell check out. Sell check out. Thank you. Do you tip the sell check out? And I think you do.
But I think you tip half of what you normally tip because what you're tipping is the back end. You're tipping the people who are making the food and you're tipping the people who are putting the product on the shelves. Now, here's the caveat. Okay, there's a very, very, very important caveat. There needs to be a disclaimer that 100% of tip is going to the workers involved in getting the product on the shelf.
Okay. And that may be my main beef. Is I'm a little worried in the sell check out that the tip is going to the company. So, I need some clarification, but I'm coming out on record that I am pro sell check out tip. But I'm pro sell check out tip at 50% of the rate of what you normally tip because we need to take care of the folks who are getting the product on shelves.
Like someone's cooking the breakfast tacos. Totally. Totally agree. I'm getting the face jewels. But you're not tipping the kitchen when you're tipping at a restaurant.
Yes, you are. No, you're not. A lot of times aren't they splitting it? Yes, you are. For the restaurant that I worked at, you were, they tip the waitresses and the waitresses tip out the host and the busers.
They do not tip out the kitchen.
No way.
“No, in the, like, the intention is that, like, the cooks are making a livable wage.”
Like, the waitresses make, at least in Ohio, it was like $4 an hour. So, like, where I'm confused is like, I would hope that the airport was paying their workers a livable wage where the tips like the tip should not be a thing for just stocking the shelves. That should be a non-tipped industry because it's not a service. Tipping is for service. They don't, I don't know a restaurant that tips out the kitchen and pee is agreeing with me.
Yeah, I, I very well could be wrong on this. I've never, I've never worked in a restaurant.
I, well, I've worked in one, but I was a, I was a cash register at, like, I was a cashier check out. Did you get tips? Yes, we got tipped. But I'm trying to think, then, did you tip out? Because I also, like, you also bust the tables at this restaurant and then there was the cook.
You're like, I got tipped out as a bus hero. Here's, here's how I'm directly thinking about it. Okay, hopefully the companies can keep the products at more affordable prices. So that way, I actually, this is a great example of, like, me now talking about something that I don't, I want to make sure what I say, I believe in.
Can I say what I like what you said? Yes. I think the change in perspective, because you could, so there, and been annoyed, that it was asking you to auto tip or whatever, that was asking you to tip on a self-checkout, and you changed your perspective, and you were okay with it.
And I always say that the only person that it hurts to be annoyed with is yourself.
“So that's what I, um, clung on to from that.”
Okay. You're only hurting yourself by being annoyed about that, because it was the situation. I think you. But now you know what I will be annoyed when, is if someone comments and says that that, those self-checkouts are just going right to corporate. Yeah, but that's what you're at.
That's what you're at. So I love whenever I order something on DoorDash. They tell me that 100% of my tip is going to the DoorDash. Yes. I love to see that, because I think too, you know, at our local coffee shop, you know, when we go to tip,
I do want to know that that 100% like is going to the people back there working. Can we DM, when it, find out these companies, like the next time I'm there, I guess I'll find out the company name and let's DM them on Instagram. Because if you ask companies these questions, they tell you. Yeah. 100%.
They have to. But doesn't, um, wasn't this the thing with Starbucks? Where their tip was not going 100% to the workers? I, hope it was. I, I do believe I remember this being a thing, but don't quote me on it.
I think that the word tip, like I think that we glee 100% of tips have to go to workers or else it's not a tip.
“Like, that's why there was like, maybe a service charge.”
It's for, I'm kind of speaking out of my, about year, but like a service charge that the company puts on, like they might be able to take some of that. But I think if something's classified as a tip, it has to. This has 100% of tips must go to workers, not the business. Okay, that's great. Under the federal.
But who is the federal law? Who is the worker at the self checkout? We'll see. I have a happy tip story. We were eating at the well here in Austin.
And there was, we were with Tate. And we had this way just come over and you could tell Tate was really hungry. And we ordered everything and we were like the berries and the eggs are for her.
And she was like, I'm going to make sure this come out first.
Then we got the talking to her and she was like, you're pregnant. And wasn't she pregnant? She definitely had a child because she knew. But we needed to get her food out first. She knew to bring her the water cup and the plastic cup.
I want to say she was pregnant. She was just like really sweet Burnett girl. Anyways, at the end of the meal, I'm almost positive. She was pregnant now. At the end of the meal, she said, hey, you know, we're going to tip you.
But could we also get your Venmo. And she said, I really appreciate that. But I'm not going to give it to you because we all do tip share in here. And I wouldn't want one of my workers to do that. And we were like, who does to you?
She kept the share pot. She kept the shared pot. She kept the shared pot honest. So we tipped her big on there and it went to everybody. But we were like, can we Venmo you?
And she was like, you know what? I love, thank you so much for offering. I wish. But no, because she wouldn't want one of her workers to do that. And so I thought what an honest honest gal.
And she brought those berries out for buds. Mm-hmm. Yeah, she was cute and sweet. Let's move to end the comments. Okay.
You missed this last week. Jules and I talked about it.
Now, there are expiration dates on food.
Do you count those as guidelines or as fat?
“So if it says it expires on three two, are you throwing it out?”
Are you waiting a couple days for you? For you. And bobs when you pregnant and with bobs as a kid, I stick by the dates. Throw it out. And throw it out.
But for me, I'll go past the date three to five days. On chicken? Yes, but I'll also look at it. Right. And like, I also like because I work in this industry and understand the general food science,
and behind a lot of different products, I often have more context as to, like, as to the best by date. Okay.
So now that leads me to my next thing.
There's a best buy and there's a sell by date. So our sliced turkey, for example, is sell buy. Let's call it three two again. How many days after are you eating the sell buy? Because like, I'm only eating it two days after the sell by date.
Yep. As I said, like, with you and bobs, like, I just don't take chances.
“But sell buy, you're not eating it past the sell by?”
With you too, I don't. You don't. But best buy for me is a hard stop. With me, yeah, like two days, I personally, I won't think about it. Five days, I'm generally good with it.
But I do, I do, like, look at smell and appearance. Okay.
And so, like, you being in the food industry, though, are there certain foods we're, like, I can start this a little longer?
Yes. But like, I'd rather not get into what they specifically are, because then I don't want to, like, send people down a rabbit hole on what they should be eating past the suggested dates. Watching your loved ones age can be one of life's toughest transitions. I've seen many friends suffer from the overwhelm, trying to balance kids, career, and home while realizing they can't do it all alone. It's a lot to carry.

“Well, I had my own only what you need protein shakes in the car, remember?”
And I was like, oh, I just thought it's out and you're like, no, you don't. They can live on the shelf, they can live in your car, and then you can put them in the refrigerator. And they will not change like the makeup of them. Because of the manufacturing method, yes. Yeah, and I didn't know that.
And so you taught me a lot about that. Okay, so with Bubs and I, you're saying, you are going to be safe and you're going to throw stuff out with you. You're like, no, whatever. Yes. Okay.
Well, I told them last week every Sunday and we did it yesterday. I do a clean sweep of all the items in the fridge. I now have like the expiration date. We've to eat a lot today, because a lot expires tomorrow. All the broccoli, all the turkey legs, all the turkey legs, the chicken legs, and the ground turkey.
So we got to make a feast. I would love to. If it expires tomorrow, and I cook it today, can we eat it in two days? If it's cooked? What do you mean?
Like, okay, so if the ground chicken expires tomorrow. Mm-hmm. Today, I cook it into chicken patties. Yep. Can those last three days?
I'm just taking less risk like with the pregnancy. But for you. For me, generally, yes, but I'm also like, I'm looking at it and I'm smelling everything. Yeah. So I'm not giving you the answers you want here.
What? Can I, can I zag for a moment? Yeah. And you can tell me if this is interesting. I thought we had one of our most unique days in the neighborhood yesterday.
Oh, I love this. Do you want to hear about this, Charles? Yeah. It was really cute. So yesterday was Sunday.
We probably spent somewhere between three to four hours just on our street. Like, it was a beautiful day. And for whatever reason, our entire street was at home.
Everyone was just hanging out.
Just outside. Outside.
Sometimes in front of our house.
Sometimes in front of the neighbors directly across. Sometimes a couple houses down. Sometimes the kids are out there. Other times not. Like, it was, it was just like a hang.
Well, nothing to it. It was really cool. And like, no one had anywhere to be. Yeah. That was it.
Nobody went. People would come. They'd be gone. They'd leave for an hour. They'd come back.
But what was so cute about it is, again, we've got this diagonal neighbors. Because we've a lot of young kids on our street. But diagonal from us, they've got older kids. And Bubbs was going.
And Bubbs was helping plant the flowers. She was going. The guy was taking her in the house.
Like, she came out with a necklace.
Like, they are so sweet to her. And then she kept wanting to walk over to their house. She walked over to their house. Three times or three times. Three times.
She would walk out the front door. And she would grab our hand. And she would just walk over there. And they just pitter a pattern up the stairs. Up the stairs.
It was really cute. So it was a good day for the neighborhood. It was a great day for the neighborhood. It was a great day for the neighborhood. It was a great day for the neighborhood.
For sure. Yeah.
“Lots of just, I think, I think get your point.”
Nobody had anywhere to be. So everyone was just hanging out outside. And then we had our neighbors who were for dinner. And one of the other little girls came up to me. And she said, can I come see your playroom one day?
And I said, you can come over whenever. Her mom helped to take Winnie and Tate upstairs. I mean, we just had a whole party. So everyone was, and what I wanted to play in for the street is a progressive dinner. Do you know what a progressive dinner is?
Yeah, you've talked about this. I think it's genius. I got to do it. I just don't know if I do it before the baby or after the baby. But we signed up four houses on the block.
I've got them signed up. And you do appetizers at one house. Meal at the other house. No, drinks at one house. Apps at one house.
Meal at one house dessert at the other house. And then you get to see everybody's house. Which I think will be really fun. I think it's really fun. Honestly, it's probably before the baby, because then our house would be clean.
Yeah, for sure. Because I think after the baby, it's all going down. Okay. So that was number one thing in the comments. Was a lot of people are saying that they think that expiration dates are guidelines.
Not strict rules. That's just what they're saying. Yeah, they're what the companies are standing by. No, people at home are saying, I'll eat it a couple days past. I think they're guidelines.
They're not so strict for me. That was the general consensus. The other thing I was talking about was when you're pregnant and you lay down.
“Why do you have to pee so much worse than when you're standing up?”
And it's because the blood. No, the water. Once I can't. Something. It says, "Ping more when laying down."
While pregnant is primarily caused by gravity allowing excess fluids stored in your legs and feet. To move back into your bloodstream. Your kidneys filter this excess fluid producing more urine combined with enlarging uterus. This causes increased night time urination. So it's something to do with how laying down and the liquid coming from your legs into your kidneys.
I mean, it makes it. It's it's crazy. So that does make sense. I did figure there was like some sort of scientific backing to that. But I thought it was going to be way more like to me.
That's not what I expected. I thought it was going to be way more obvious. I thought it was going to be way more obvious. Yeah. The baby just like sits on your bladder or something.
Yeah. Yeah. That's something with the legs. Look at that. Restless flat.
Like who knows? It's all. All related. It is interesting though. When I do find my best night sleep is when I.
And prop my legs up for 20 minutes or four bed. Yeah. Up on the wall. That's the best. It's the best because like you can just see the swelling.
Yeah. Sort of like leaving.
So it's pretty incredible.
I'm no longer. Okay. So what I'm going to do up until I have this baby. Pricing the finger like it hurt. It's just it's not going to happen.
Okay. Last night after the baby sprinkled they gave us a cake. And they put it in our refrigerator. And I was like we got to throw this out. We didn't throw it out.
So last night I was putting a fork in the cake. And I felt like crap all night. I feel like crap this morning.
“I think that the better I eat, the better I feel.”
Interesting. And I couldn't sleep. I just I feel like throwing up. I'm nauseous. My head hurts.
My hands hurt. Like I'm achy. So I do think what I'm going to do is I'm not going to test how. These things hit my blood sugar. The glucose monitor XYZ.
Because last week I ate really, really, really good. Like I was full, I felt like I was eating high protein.
Of course I would have my carbs.
But not forks in cakes. Okay.
“And so I'm just going to try and do that within reason up until the end.”
So I can I can feel good.
Give yourself Chris. I am but last night like I didn't do so good. And like I feel the effects of it. But that's the thing with with the impaired glucose tolerance. It's like it will adjust your body.
Cannot process it as much. And I really did feel that. And like I do feel it affecting me. So I do think. Is it more fun to put the fork in the cake?
Of course it is. Do you want to do that when you're pregnant? Of course you do. But what I want more than that is to feel good. And I know how to feel good.
And I did it last week. And so I'm going to do it again. I'm just going to get back to it. It was a fun lesson to learn. It's fun while lasted.
You're doing great. Well, thank you.
I am going to have to go over to the neighbor's house.
Pay you to make me another one of those loves to bread. What do I got to do? Maybe I'll make it. Harrison, I need it. It's saved me last week because I want carbs.
But apparently, you know, sourdough is good for leveling out blood sugar. And I actually think it is because I was grabbing it like cotton candy off this giant loaf. And I was eating it and I felt great. So can you help me with that actually it's now a. It's now a need.
Okay. Well, I can we do not have time to bake it. So go to the store and buy it. No, I will say people in the comments had just because you used someone else's starter does not make you less of a sourdough baker. We have two starters on our street.
I'm the sourdough makers. We're a little up in arms about that. Two starters on our street. This to me is just like such. I need to think of a parallel.
But like it's like it's like listening to a book.
Yeah, it's the same. I call on yourself an artist, but you use a stencil. No. Nothing is a form of art.
“Here's the thing about the starters that I learned from one of the neighbors after talking to her.”
You can do so much wrong with the starter. You might you might spend three days on the starter and not even actually make the bread because of your starter. I don't know. I think it's a week. One component wrong. Let's just skip like because at this point I need the bread.
So I need the path the quickest path to fruition. Which is using someone starter. Start there, bake your own starter in a month. Yeah. Test it out.
Okay, but we got to do this next week. We don't have time. Well, how do you want me to get the bread? There's great sourdough from that like easy tiger bakery. But is there is the last ingredient genetically modified ingredients?
I mean, we'll look at it. Okay. I think it's like fresh baked. I think it is too. And they do sell starters there.
So I'm feeling pretty good about that. All right. Things with EM to each other. I, well. Or do you want to do a bigger of the week?
Should you pay attention to Google reviews? So this is a really, really interesting story thing that happens. So in France, every year they do a bake-off. And the winner of the bake-off delivers fresh baggats. To the royal palace or whatever the equivalent is every day.
And it's done via a blind taste test. And so I'm so in on this. Amazing, right? The winner had three point acres of sparse. Okay.
Yes. Interesting. Yes. And now they're getting a gentleman. Sri Lankan gentlemen.
Sri Lankan. Beautiful country. He is three point eight. Now he gets to deliver bread every single day. And I'm sure it is great.
Great revenue for him. And I'm sure the fall of through to his business will be great. And so brings to the question how. How accurate our Google reviews. I have a take.
But please go first. Well, I think this is a large. This is a big concept that we see in life. A lot of times creatives, right? Interior designers, artists, etc.
They, they'll say because I've seen people talk about this. Just you have this side of the brain. Doesn't mean you're good at balancing your books. Doesn't mean you're good at responding to your emails. He could be a phenomenal baker.
Doesn't mean he's that good at front of house service.
“So I think that's a phenomenal take on the flip side.”
I think this is a little more niche. I think Google reviews when it comes to restaurants in the US are largely accurate. Okay. One exception is Miami. I find the reviews in Miami all seem to be artificially inflated.
Like there are these four point eight star Google reviews for these like. Just like. Truly. I don't even know how to describe it. touristy.
Yeah, like touristy. Like three dollar pizza places where they actually charge like $12 for the pizza.
It's been sitting there for 14 days.
Like. Like. Why was more so also thinking though, they got restaurants like more like kind of those. Drunk type eating places. Right.
Like drunk eat places have like four point eight stars as like the foods clearly been there forever. So with the exception of Miami, I find that Google reviews in the US are. A very good base rate for what to expect. In Paris, the Google reviews are all terrible.
“So I think that provisions just have a totally different standard of ranking.”
Because like so many of our favorite restaurants in Paris, like if I like the suggestions I gave you in you went. And when we eventually go back together. Like there's so many in the three it's like in the US I don't think I've ever like if I see something's a three I generally wouldn't go. But. Well, what the Trump card for me on a restaurant over Google reviews is a recommendation.
Right. So if somebody says that it multiple people say like this restaurant is the best. I won't even look at the Google reviews because I'll just know I'm going like I don't care what carbon in Miami's Google review is up. I'd actually love to know. I'd assume it's high because everything in Miami is like.
Generally pretty high. For point three. So it's low it's low. What's what's the fish restaurant in Charleston that you said is one of your favorite in the United States. Chubby fish.
Four point seven. That's good. I'm happy to see that.
Here's the thing is is when I see.
If I get a recommendation I'll go but I'll look at the review because what that tells me like carbon being a four three is there's a trade off. Okay. And so like what's the trade off to carbon. It's insanely expensive. Right.
And so like. Well, like I love carbon when you tell me it's a four three. I get that because. Like you pay us serious price.
“Well, the channel and I think a lot of people go there thinking like okay well as a outright Italian food.”
I could get something similar probably for half the price but we. Are good with the premium because of the vibe because of the service once a year. Yeah. Where where the handoff with chubby fish though is they don't take reservations. So you are putting your name in and you are waiting for two three hours.
Absolutely. It's truly truly. Yeah. Unbelievable. But but people don't think that trade off is even worth really noting.
And I do and I like the integrity of that Google review because they are rating it off of service. It's phenomenal experience. It's phenomenal and food is is mouthwatering good. Mm hmm. So yeah.
So do you pay attention to Google review short answer is what? Yes. For sure. Okay. My short answer is yes.
But a recommendation can go above a Google review for me. Multiple recommendations will trump a Google review. Totally totally totally. But if I'm if I am just at and if I just landed at a random spot and I have you know four hours to eat and I'm Googling restaurants near me. I'm absolutely looking at Google reviews.
“And I do think it's important for restaurants to have their Google reviews dialed because I think a lot of people look at them.”
Yeah. I mean, there's no other ranking. You're not looking at their Instagram page like to see the food. You're not looking at their Instagram page like to see the food. You're not.
I'm not. I'm not going to their Instagram.
Oh, my first line of defense now is going to tick talk and searching the restaurant.
Now that's good because people are talking to you. It's not just a pretty photo. And you can see the food and people are talking to you and you can see the vibe and what people are wearing. I love it. Tick talks a good one.
I don't do it. I'm going to start there. Because you guys are millennials. You did? But she identifies as a gender.
Where you and I identify hard as millennials. Totally. Yes. In fact, I think they think. We're losers.
I think they think we would. We are dorks. Did you listen to the episode last week, Harrison? I unfortunately did not. Great question, Julie.
Two and even no. The new inside jokes, the banter. Yeah, you're so far behind. How about that? She's giving a listen.
No comment? Well, Julie, I appreciate you stepping up. She's great. I had a lot of demons. Bear in the responsibility.
People were very excited to hear from her. They were. They were thrilled. Did you see my dance? No.
Oh, yeah. I had a bunch. Very nice. Um. Okay.
Well, we lost Harrison. So we're going to wrap.
Because there's always a time when he can tell.
He just says, I'm done.
Well, thank you very much, listening.
And it's in the words of Baba. Adam. All done. Baba has learned please. And thank you.
And she's learned please.
And squirrel. squirrel and golf cart. What else? Thank you for listening. Okay.
Love you guys. Thank you for listening.
