“Post career in the 40s, we could do like the truck cast.”
I just have people come on special. Oh, that turned over. I said I'm sit-up down. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Welcome to Wingmen.

Matthew, let me out coming up. Well, we're talking Olympics. We're talking schedule, we're talking some of the teams are playing. We're talking about a new American scoring record. And we got a little triple threat thrown in there with Super Bowl Sunday coming up.
Brady, fell, league load on. Try to hit this first every single week, start it off, show time being show time, break
“in the record, the U.S. most points, most points from an American all time.”
Pass me down on what we don't do this like 18 years ago. We feel like we talk about him once a week, maybe, maybe more. Just talk about him. He's a USA hockey and what a way to do it at home and to try. I love how he's talking about how much he loves playing Detroit because when that building's
rocking, I don't know if there's many like louder rinks, that's a pretty sick ring when
that building gets going.
No, I think it's awesome. I mean, to have, you know, the next generation pass that and, and, and I'll let it show time. So, I mean, and to your point about, you know, Detroit that building, it's also crazy. He played for a rival to the black collection, original six, like two just great markets,
great teams, great great fan bases, but I can only imagine that feeling doing it at home in front of all the support, you know, love all the boys coming off the bench, that it's such a big deal and, and now he's paved the way for, I mean, I've watched a lot of videos after and he truly has paved the way for a lot of us young Americans and, you know, he definitely introduced, you know, a bunch of no new players into hockey in the U.S. and he's
been an icon. So, that's a lot of cooks. That's a lot of cooks. Well, I've got a, you know, a lot of years left. A lot of years left.
I know. I think he could play for legit ever. So we got some, some stats here from, from Quater and the fellas, thank you, Quater. He's fourth active, most points right now behind Crosby of Echkin, Malkin, which means it'll probably pass.
I would say Malkin and then just be trellin, Crosby no Echkin. And then all time, as an American, he's number one, just passed Bidano and then it's housing. J.R. Pavelsky, big walled, Walter, Joey Molin, Doug wait, Brian Leach, Pat Lafontaine.
That's a hell of a list there and absolute hell of a list. That's, that's a good list to be number one out and I just want to bring it to attention here. I had the game on on the background here. There was just a goal if like in the Echkin post it one.
I swear to God. I just turned it off. But let's stay in the moment. He's staying in the moment where I just have to, I have to get that across. But that is one hell of a list for, time for that.
We might need a live reaction on this pod. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right, back to business, we're back to the, it's a beautiful thing about this pod.
We go off the rails. Let's make it, we just go off. I don't know what the fuck just happened in this game to cause this, but I'm going to tell you exactly right now. So control power play, shoot it on that in front, haggle jammed away, swam and comms and
wax haggle down, two trough comes in, everybody coming in. It's kind of like a spear like Pucks of Frozen, I mean, and then he went in a couple shots and swam on the ground. And the last one, Vastosky comes out, swam goes on right in center ice, center ice, center ice.
I mean, obviously, that's first ever outdoor game fully fight, like this is what we're talking
about. Vastosky's a lefty. No. It's not the dream, it's not the dream that he sticks to a righty, that is, that is a nightmare.
“I will say, Vastosky might be one of the biggest human being, remember him with the”
Allster game in four, he is like, he should make this, he should know, I guess guys, ever. He does not look like a goal. And one of the most athletic, like human beings, too, for being such a big guy, that's awesome.
I can't wait to watch the live because, you know, as, love your brother, the way you describe that, I still have no picture in my brain, but back to, okay, back to, I just turn your stuff, points, okay, I mean, that's also too, like we did, like, when we were
In Detroit a couple weeks ago, no, I know we talked about in the pod, but it'...
500. Like you would think, like, okay, like one of those, like, you know, three, fifty, four hundred goals, just a ton of apples, he could still put the pill in the net, no, the bad love planning, I have some every single time we play, I'm just, like, even watch them shift in, shift out, like, he is so silky, so good, just the pucks on a string, like,
if I could do it all over again, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, that's guys, like, just, like, looking up the whole time, I'm just dropping at it, I'm like, just, that's a skill.
“Like, not many people have that, and like, that's why you're so special, and it's just, it's”
fun to see, and I know we've been on the U.S. player, guests, like, I'd be pretty awesome to get him on the wingman pod. Yep, and I don't see him, do I see him crazy about his stats? We're not even talking about playoff stats, either, and that's where he really, that's where show time is born.
So we'll give it up for him, that's, as to Americans that that's our obviously proud of Americans and proud of the history of USA hockey to see somebody break the record
for that, pretty frigging incredible.
Okay, let's get into it. A little bit of a highlight for you this last week, huge game at home, and got to meet one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks ever at Eli Manning, after the, what the hell was he doing in Ottawa?
“One, two, are you guys a saw after a video, you met him, good guy, seems like a legend, but”
from your perspective, just break it all down, first of all, your game really nice, even like, like, you barely played, I saw the shoot after, like, what are you talking, or you're not, you taking short shifts, and you just not get out there. Well, arrested, fuck, put the scuba tank on sale, they're why you can be hit. Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm a short shift guy, you know, get myself back
into it, you know, a quick three steps everywhere, if there's just every time I have the buck, three steps, three steps, but, you know what, it's been a, you know, even playing some saw at hockey here the last little bit, but yeah, no, it's, I said, they found out in the morning that he was going to be at the game and not the same thing, I was like, what's what's he doing in Ottawa, but then found out that his daughter is, no, into hockey, playing
for the, the New Jersey Colonials, I'm like, oh, like, that's awesome, like, we played against them growing up too, so they had a tournament in Ottawa and, and, and, and talk to them, you know, they're new into hockey and, and he's learning as much as, you know, his daughter is right now and, and awesome guy, like, just can't say enough good things about him, he's super nice, just great guy, great guy to talk to and it was nice to meet, you
know, all the girls and, and, you know, all their dads are there, they went to an Ottawa six, sevens game the night before, and then they came to our game that the next night, and, you know, of course it worked out perfectly that, you know, we're playing the devils where, you know, there's some of the girls wearing the New Jersey devils here, so I know one of our, our media people are taking a picture of the big group, like, could we get a
go sends go and immediately want to go USA, so they, they, they, they, they know how they should be out there, you know, they know where they stand, so they, they put everybody kind of back in their place, but, uh, it was nice, nice. That's so funny. It was nice meeting them. Um, no, I just love what in paint do, um, not both unbelievable quarterbacks, but what they've done with the, the manicast, it's, that's pretty cool. They, like, that's just the
dream, just that post, just, I guess they've never been in a game. Maybe maybe post career
in the 40s, we could do, like, a truck cast, like, throw on a, like, the big game the week, one game every week, and it just, yuck it up through it.
“And just people come on. Oh, can you believe that guy made that play? Like, are you serious?”
Really, like, they're like those people at the games that are so huge, shoot on the power play. Are you serious? He didn't get that in deep, like, just be kidding me, like, that's a little bit turn over. I'll sit him sit him down. I love it. Um, no, but you're, uh, that's two big wins though before that, even Colorado two Vegas, so you guys are, uh, I want to say sneaky heater, but kind of sneaky heater right now. I mean, right now, it's just, you
know, it's every team just goes through kind of the abs and flows. And we have three massive games for break. So we need to put, uh, in our best, uh, best foot forward here. And,
uh, some big games kid me too far ahead. Can't look too far ahead. Got a big one. First
pit, Caroline and then Philly. They're all, they're all big. I'm going to leave it all out there, but no, yeah. When something we have, but I got to hear about your game back home first of the year. It was nice. It was, it was, it was, I mean, probably the worst ending to a game. I've been a recent memory. I fucking hate losing especially that way. We work so hard and then came to come back. We just got to find a way to get that at least a point out of it. Very
frustrating. Um, cool to play at home. It's just like still like every time going out, frankly, we scored millions of goals there as a kid. Like with no goal in that, sometimes
There would be a goal out there, but to see a mountain of times we reenact or...
what's it reenacted, but just envisioned scoring in the NHL and did that for years and years and years and then the actually score one, um, my first one the year and then get one not too far after that in the building with so many friends of family there. It's always awesome. Like it's probably one of my favorite ranks. If not my favorite one to score it in the in the lead, just because of all the history you've had there. So terrible terrible outcome. Sneaky pop, though.
Like it was a sneaky like I heard like people in the crowd. Like it was sneaky. Yeah, can't see it's actually travel very well, too. Like there was there was a lot of red there.
But it was a critical. I mean, they're first. I mean, I honestly I was at a gallo, so I didn't watch,
but you know, you got to do, you know, you got to do, you know, it's for the kids. Yeah,
“always. That's what we do. It's all about the kids, all about being a good role model,”
raising money for a great cause. But I saw the highlights after just your pause, you know, because that one came out of nowhere, putting it cousins and I was just talking about it. You know, if we bring them up on the pod a lot of the show. Oh, no, we just said that you are the smartest player in the league. Just like I got lucky with that when I was into the shift time, I just was going to shoot and he probably came outside really far. So I just like
went to shoot and just gave the pause right there. And then when I went to my back end, I think he thought I was going my forehand. So I had an open net and I followed a miss that we had have some big big issues right now. So yeah, that's all right. It's not that like missing like a
complete, complete grade A to get you all like flustered a little bit. Yeah, you're never going to score
again. And the next one feels great. Yeah, but you know, I will say last year we played in St. Louis and we scored with, I want to say five seconds left. Yeah, I'm totally not one and then we'd lose with eight seconds left this year. So I mean, I don't want to say as kind of even because that's
“not the way you should look at it. But, you know, just sucks. He losing that way. You know, he”
he losing more than you like to win. So that's frustrating. It's kind of a frustrating week for us half to half to half to half to turn the corner turn the page because this week, these three games especially the first two Buffalo and then Boston. I mean, this is kind of our, I don't want to say our season, but this is the two biggest games by far at this point. So turn the page and a huge
week ahead. And I'm so excited for it going into Olympics. We need these ones. And, you know,
guys, I would say most years it's pretty tough like this time of year, like with the break coming out, it's kind of a hard week to get through in most years. And this year it's a complete opposite. Guys are just trumped at the bit to get these. And we need these and we're ready and we're fully invested in, you know, we're in it for like playing playoff hockey this week. So this is our place. I hate to say it, but our place at the start this early. So, um, and then we get new Olympics.
And that is another topic, a huge topic of this huge episode. I'm growing the game. Do you want to take it from here, Bryden? Yeah. I mean, of course, this is a new experience for us. I mean,
“we got a little taste of it for nations. I think everybody liked and joined or enjoyed here in the”
stories about it, but I mean, like, like, what's, like, I can even, I mean, we're going to have to explain as best we can, like, the difference playing in the NHL versus representing your country. And I know for us, it's, we're on the single digit days. Like, it's, it's, whether we like it or not, it's what we love it. It's around the corner. I just think that there's something so special about checking your, your ego at the door, what you've done in the past, what you're doing on your
current team, the success you're having, the, you know, everything that you take from your club team, and then you go to the, you know, best players in the country of all ages. And you just check it out the door, you walk into a brand new locker room with new guys and you do it for two to three-week tournament. I think there's just something so special about that and, like, you walk into the room, you, uh, you know, you find out who you're playing with, you find out your role and you just immediately
do whatever you can to help the team. I think it's just, it's so special. I mean, it's so different than any other experience I've had. And I think I was most proud of is just how, how much guys are willing to sacrifice the team over themselves. And that was just so great to see. And I'm, no, we're going to see it again. Again, this time around, um, starting February 12th against Latvia. Um, we have three days of practice leading, so really not a lot of time to, um, break in gear, break in gear. I mean,
we've been breaking in gear. I've been breaking in new pants, new gloves, uh, new skates, um, for the last few weeks. So that, it's not, it's still a shit when we go over there. Do you have Olympic skates? I just weren't new skates. No, not like, yeah, not like, I don't have anything to say. Okay, no, I just found out the other day that I was wearing pants shells for something, but you have to
Wear like, I'm wearing regular pants.
So you can't wear shells. I mean, I know I'm a pack. I realize this don't like the shells. I thought I, that's, we had to wear, but we have pants. Yeah. So, um, but that'll be good. Why don't we get through, uh, what do we go through a little bit of our schedule? So that fans that are listening to this, um, know what time we're playing, know who we're playing, kind of know our schedule here. So I'm going to go over it. Please take it away. Okay. So we are starting off Thursday, February 12th
against Latvia. We're talking nine, 10 PM, Milan times. Have you ever played at nine o'clock before?
Never in my life. Maybe in the bubble, actually. So that's three PM Eastern. Let's go over a little
bit of the lot via team. So, um, we've got Teddy Blueger. We're talking, we're listening to some of the NHLers. Teddy Blueger, Zambis Gervensen's Uvis Bluenskis on my team. Um, and then they actually two goalies. They're both NHL goalies, uh, one with Columbus, and then one with, uh, well, sorry, Elvis, uh, Merslinka's on Columbus, and then, uh, Sylvos, who had that sick run with Vancouver
“a couple years ago in Plaf. So we're talking Latvia. We're talking game one, um, that's what we're”
going up against some of the NHL guys that we know. Um, and there's some plenty other, uh, uh, guys that we've played against throughout, you know, growing up with a two, eight teams of U20s, or even the NHL that, you know, aren't in the NHL currently. So then we're moving over to February 14th, by the way, the notes that, uh, Quater gave for this part, does it iconic? iconic. Uh, I think let's talk about this nine, 10 start. Like, what, what time do you envision
this morning's skate to be? Cause it's like, even we're starting to talk about as a team, like, so there's going to be three games every day at the link. So like, I don't even know, 12, four, and nine. Presently, probably. No, I think it's listed somewhere. I think it's, yeah, I think it's like noon five and nine. We'll say it. But yeah, because, because guys were talking about the ice, I'm like, like, all you're going to have, know, three games on it. Well, I'm like,
you're not going to have the, the other team is practicing on that day. And the only time, like, the guys are be skating on it. Extra is the morning skates for the nine o'clock game. Because the
first two games, there's no time for morning skates. Cause obviously it's earlier. So there's,
I still think, yeah, the, well, the ice gets chewed up naturally. Yeah. But that's, like, a lot of events that have that. So I, I mean, I'm curious, like, what time morning skate is like, how much time, it's like, where do it might be breaking records for a naps through this goal around? Yeah, the naps can be very special. I, uh, I'm envisioning, I've run a noon, pregame skate, which means we're not practiced. Like, before playing at nine, we're not pregame skating at eight in the morning
on the game. So it was the game right. And then the practice facility in the, like, the practice
“from the game record and the same building, let's call it. Um, I think for a nine, 10 game will”
probably pregame skate around noon. Get it like that first game. We have to figure out that first game. Well, the, we're not pregame skating on the game, right? I don't think we're probably pregame skating on the practice right? You don't think so with all, like, the other teams need to
need to practice. So if, if the games, the first games at noon, that means that both teams have to
be done their pregame skate by no later than 10 30. Yeah, we're going to work. That's not going to work. That just doesn't that just doesn't make sense to me. Yeah. Oh, 100% brother. But it's going to be a mock of a, of a, of a, of a pregame meal after that, to a long nap, nine, 10 time games going to end late. Um, but yeah, it's great. I think it's perfect. I think it's great. It's great for the viewers back home. Yeah, I think people are taking some work off. I've already been getting some
messages of a lot of bars being rented out already for each game. Yeah. Like, watch parties everywhere, which is just so exciting and so cool for me to hear because you don't, I mean,
“I think, I think when we're going to be over there, we're going to be, you know, on our little”
bubble just, we're literally going to, I mean, my phone's going to be pretty much, I don't want to say shut off because I'm going to be getting some sick pictures and videos and stuff that I want to have memories of, but, um, like, stuff that's happening back here and all over social media. Um, I don't know if I'm going to be all over it like I am normally. So, um, but I'm sure we're going to get lots of videos sent to us if some of these watch players. I know there's some iconic
college watch parties that have happened across the country, the past for the Olympics, uh, just so excited to see all those. But, um, so, okay, so February 12th, we got Lafayah. February 14th, we got Denmark and they've got some, some really good players. They've got Bjork Strand, Ealors, Eller, um, Freddie Anderson goal, uh, so-goer, he's on Ottawa. So, um, some familiar NHL names there. Some teammates, some teammates there as well. Um, and then back to back, again, both 9 p.m.
games, um, so if we're going to play 9 p.m. in the 14th, that means we're not going to bed to probably two, two, three, I'm going to the game the next day about 9 times. So, just back to
Back.
walk or a little activation, but sleep is your friend on back to back. So, we'll be sleeping a lot
that day. And then Germany, they've got some, you know, some big names, they got the dry side of Paturka, um, students will serve me, um, more insider on defenses, having an unbelievable year, and then Philip Grubar, so goalie. So, um, some, some big names there, but I will say, do you know what these teams don't have that we have? The sickest jerseys ever. We're not going to have a model. We're not going to have a model. We're going to walk you as
team with this, uh, you know, future, die GQ have a probably model model in these new sick jerseys, for us, these are hysterical, 90s, sick jerseys, by the way, they're so light, beautiful, blue, to beautiful blue, they're light, they're awesome, um, like red lame blood, just like just, just fits, I just love the USA across like the down across, um, and do you know what, what I love about our team, too, is just where everybody's from, like geographically,
is up the word or is it demographically? I don't know. Do you know roughly? I mean, we're not scholars.
“No, we're not scholars, we're not the school for one year. Oh, yes, you should know this, but”
that was a nice year. That was a good year. That was a good year. It was a good year, you know,
you always had it, now we're just going to talk a little bit about my school experience all
waiting for this, you know, you always had it, you know, six days off free, like skip classes, like, but no punishment. So I would go into my kitchen, I'd go into my semester and plan out the six days and I was going to skip. And then like, if you skip a seven, then your points get deducted and I could not afford that. So I planned out my six, at the start of this semester, just to be like, I got that scheduled in. And you know what, if that one random one comes up,
I'll just have to make up the other ones. So I remember there's a time, just a crazy thing in the world that you use day after marathon Monday. I think it was, no, it wasn't, it was after we lost hockey used and are not hockey used. We lost in the college tournament and season was over.
“I remember that Monday, we were like, like, kids ought to be you. I mean, for the people that don't”
know, be used, like, a mile long, just rate, rate down the road. It's like, just straight shot and to get the class. It's hard to boss. It's just, you know, to get to class, you just walk whatever half mile a mile on commath. I remember one day we were like, we ain't walking. And we ordered it to Uber to class. There's traffic. And we legit made two minutes. We barely moved. Like, we want to go to Tees Pub. And then we just scratched that class. Just went to Tees Pub. It was unbelievable.
So, uh, great score. It was like we just had to just, it was just the freshman class. We're just like, we're not going to class. We're going to hang out. And then that was, that was an unscheduled skipping class that day, but made it up. But as we get a boss said, in Tees Pub, we've got a teammate. I'm sure he went to Tees Pub more than once. And that's Jack. I go and he's one of three guys from Massachusetts. I'm just going to go through the roster a little bit where they're
from, uh, you know, to help the country. So we're going to get to the main. So the three main ones, right? And I'm not throwing a fourth main one. But the three main ones, Massachusetts, we got three guys. We got Boldy, Iakes, and Hannifin, Minnesota. We got five, which that's a fucking shit ton.
Faber, Gensel, Locom, Nelson, and Auditor. That's, that's always seems for the, you know,
“the Olympic seems to have always a handful of Minnesota kids. And then I think this is a”
elite number, huge six guys from Michigan, KC, Calconner, Hellabuck. Oh, and then we're throwing in the huggesses actually. Is that a little bit? They're elite Michiganers. Oh, I want to change this actually. I don't change this from six. So six to four, four point two five point five, maybe. Well, they're giving them in on the internet. But like the, like I know they were born and floored all the NHL stuff is, but they're giving them the Michigan. So I was gonna ask you
guys about they have their roots in Michigan, Quinn and Jack at a great spot. I can't give out the location because crazes, but it's a beautiful lake house right on the water. You know, if you saw it, it's awesome though. No, they've got a six set up there and so many skate was so many like, like, they have their skates and their workouts are her up there elite. But I think Quader, what was, Quader was about to ask is like, does that count if they're from Michigan? Is like,
should we should we count that? Yeah, but I think so. Yes, because they spend the summers there. And they have their history big history there. So I'm allowing it. So yeah, we'll keep it at six. And we said, we got Casey, Helibuck, Jack and Quinn Hughes, Larkin and then Warrenski. And then I'm throwing, you know, that's, that's the big three. That's the, that's the infamous three of like,
That's the whole, it was, four, 18 out of 25 guys are from those three cities.
Well, I'm sneaking in another one, sneaking in another one to make it the fab for Missouri. Me and Keller, iconic right there. So that's just the growth of the game. Then it's special. It's, and what's great? I mean, like, I know a lot of guys play together growing up. I bet Annie and I played together, um, you know, obviously Quinn Jack played together, Larks. We're in ski. Casey, that was a sick Michigan team, um, whole tire, a bell tire, um, but that's cool.
That, me and Kelly's all kind of, and are changed with St. Louis triple A blues. Like we had me and Kelly's for a couple of years. You and Kelly's. I was going to say, so let's explain that real quick.
So you're in 99, birth year. Keller's a 98. I'm a 97. So I started first. So Kelly's grew up playing with
“me up a year, because he was, the best player at his age. And honestly, he was the best player at our age,”
too. He was unreal. He came and played with us at PV Quebec. So PV major year. And then instead of coming with us to ban them, minor, he stayed back with the 98's for another PV major year. Went back to PV Quebec twice, pretty sick. Yeah, only a couple of guys can do that. And then the other guy who did that is this man right over here that I'm talking to, Brady played up a, uh, level his whole life until PV major, played up with them for PV Quebec. And then it was also
go did and went back and played another year. Instead of going up again with the 90's to ban a minor play another year of PV major to go to PV Quebec twice. Did I say that right? Oh yeah, yeah, PV Quebec's like gold. Yeah. As you talk, it's PV Quebec. And then the break term, but unreal. But they're just great that all inner changes that were all given to be Olympians for the
first time. So sick. Super, super cool. So sick. Well, I know I'm jacked up for it's, you know, we're talking
single digits. We're leaving for Moan in seven days, five days, something like that. We're going to people be 60 hours. That's right. It's not supposed to be in right now. We're going to be doing over there on night one. We're going to watch in the Super Bowl. So for the Kachak triple threat,
“we're talking about a very, very, very, very good segment of new one. I think this is our third time”
doing it. Our Kachak triple threat segment. It's Super Bowl week. So what are your top three finger food that a Super Bowl party for the Kachak triple threat of the week? Number one, and has not even up for discussion yet toastedos, scoops, but the buffalo, chicken to death. Yeah. I knew it. I knew it. And that is a non-negotiable number one, mom makes an excellent one. And who do you get the recipe from? Was it,
I don't know, that I'll take credit mom. It's fantastic. She's mastered that. Absolutely spectacular, just special. And we have that. Not just Super Bowl, but any event. We have
that buffalo chicken dip will be made. That's amazing. That's a good day. Thanksgiving.
That was a great. You know, another one, I'm going to go with pigs in a blanket. I love the dog. I love the dog. I love the glyce, I love the glyce and another one that I love. The ham and cheese sandwiches on the Hawaiian rolls. Fuck. Right. We are so like my goodness, it makes me sick. Like that. I wish it wasn't just a finger food. I wish it was like I could indulge for dinner seven days a week. But I would be 285 before I can blink an eye. So
that keeps on making more and more pounds. You could eat it there. Yeah. Whoa. Whoa. People are going to believe that. And I got circulated that. I got to be the problem. I'm eating my way out of the league cash. I love my love food. I love food. You got to survive on it. You got to survive on it. Corner weight to 25 though. Come on. It's better. It's five three. Yeah. I just did my embody scores. Daddy's a better shape than he started this season. 235 though. Okay. So what's
you're just named you just named two of the same things that I was gonna name. So I'm gonna be like third one comes out of nowhere and I'm just like, wow, it's me. I'll be choked that I didn't think of it. Okay. Well, that's totally fine. I'm going to throw in a couple. I'm going to throw in a couple different ones here for you because I love that buffalo chicken dip and I love the Toast
“Eos and I love the scuper. But the only thing that bothers me with that is if you go too big of a”
scoop in the chicks. Yeah. It's just no worse feeling in sport. Yeah. That one's just I'm trying to think of a feeling like it's like when you have a warm chocolate chip cookie, dip in milk. Boop, there it goes. Yeah, but you know when you're done, your cookie, you're like fuck wish I had some one. You finished the milk. You're like, hello. There you go. That's a good feel. I'm going to go
With like a, I'm not saying that this is in my top three.
going to name some other one now. I go number one, buffalo chicken dip, Toast Eos. And that's not even a question. I'm going number two, dirty wings from OB clerks. Number two for me, when you throw a little bit of ranch. So what I like to do is I get a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a Spanish. Spanish OB clerks is our is our neighborhood bar in St. Louis, the just greatest place on planet Earth. And it's where we spend majority of our time 99% of time before going out for a
“couple of cold ones or honestly just to go hang out with friends like that's right next to my house”
and right now before the wedding. Yeah, like I think night before the wedding, before the rehearsal party we had, I think I went there or people that came in for the wedding ended up going there like three times or at least maybe two times in the weekend. So we had a big thing, you know, like my last two companies, we've had a little bit of time at OB clerks, it's just tradition. For people
that maybe have heard the name before, the blues kind of put it, it's always been like home for us.
But I'd say more people know about it ever since the blues won the cup because they brought the cup there and kind of just caught fire and became just huge. But we've been going there for ever. Our dad's been, you know, going there for us since he moved to St. Louis. We've very, very, very close with the the OB Ryan family and just great people treat us like family. So we we love it, but they have the best dirty wings ever there. The wings are just incredible. So, um,
but what I like to do before I get off topic is the dirty wings, but take a little bit of ranch and pour out like, you know, the little cups pull out in the drawer and you know, like pull out two, pour out two thirds of it. Yep. So I got a lot of room in it and then I pour in hot sauce like not quite to the to the top but pretty close and I just shake it up and then pour it on the plate
“and that's what I dip. So two thirds hot sauce, a third ranch and then dip that. But not even”
ranch. I love like a nice parmesan like what is it called like a parmesan ranch maybe? So good. That's number two and number three. I'm going to raise your Hawaiian rule. Your your hand and she's on a Hawaiian rule. And I'm going to say a ham and she's in a Hawaiian rule the next day. Yes, the next day. So you have wonder and she will you love it. You go into the, you go into that fridge. You have 10 very, very, very, very simple. And that the next day you go in the fridge and
you're like, I'm going to have five more. Those are my three failures. I'm so, uh, I'm so unhappy
that we have it so much alike, but um, I don't always like to choke it down with an ultra team ultra.
I mean, it truly makes us talk about that real quick. Like, I hope that's a dream thing for us to be like prep isenning and being a part of the ultra family for this Olympics. I think it's so cool. I mean, it's being from St. Louis. Going and has your bush, the brewery, drinking all truss, like that. That's it's always has been the drink of choice, especially being from St. Louis. That's that. Like there's, it could be a can bottle aluminum. Like they, it's just the best on a just a
nice hot day. And I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm starting to draw a little bit because it just sounds fantastic. Yeah, I know that's that's just, but like that. And then I'm just thinking of another snack. Like a toasted ravise. St. Louis stable with tipping that back. Oh, we could have thrown toasted rabs in there on my, I thought about it too late. I thought about it too late. Well, the rest will bite a little bit of that melted cheese. Hmm,
especially that is hungry. Anyways, have you changed your mindset? By the way, on Superboy yet,
“can we give our last picks here real quick? I think the spread, I think the spread was four and a half”
still. And you still like the paths? I mean, I, I have the paths in our team pool. Yeah. I mean, I feel like part there. My heart's there. It's more mindful of there. We'll have to see. Sunday. I really am a little bit, I mean, I think four and a half points of Superboy's giving it to you in a lot of points. So I think that I'm certain to think more and more that the Patriots could cover whether they went or not, but that's a lot of points. So it's going to be
all of the game. Can't wait to watch them one. Can't wait. One of the best segments out there. Truly, one of the best segments. We got the man, the myth, the legend. Quater and Quater's cues.
Quay back. The floor is all yours. Well, first one I got off is the stadium series. Obviously
happened, you know, this, this past week. Did you see the Tampa Bay lightnings like walking outfits? If not, I have a video. I enjoyed, I enjoyed the Tampa's a lot, but I really enjoyed Boston's. I believe those were awesome. Like so old school hilarious, like you just think of the freaking,
Was it 16, 1700s, the original, the OGs coming across coming across the pond.
Collarious. So I thought them coming in Tampa coming in with, I don't know a pretty what you think,
“but they're coming in full gear at the helmet. So I'm just ready to run a speed option was a”
hysterical. Like just both, like just I got to give credit for whoever came up with both ideas, because I mean, I know you had a great one for the winter classic. Those are the two best that I've ever seen. Like a magic walk into a game. Like, and they didn't just give us a half-ass effort. They went shoulder pads and then like, I don't know if they went cleats, but like the full getch. And like, I just think of like these rushes on Tampa, like Kooch. That's the last gear, like,
what is going on right now? Just laughing. Just seeing the picture of Kooch is like, where the 86 is like the helmet done. I'm just like laughing. I'm like, that's so funny,
but probably so miserable. I'm like just great great, just great outfits. And like,
just a creativity on Boston's too. Like everybody is with different and like they all have, like the white shirt, like the puffy shirt. Some guys are like the wigs and stuff. Like, that's also awesome. Bravo. They did a great job. Yeah, Twitter loved it too. People were between like, Kooch. Rough is probably so confused. What is going on right now? Yeah. Yeah, well, that way wasn't his idea. I was just going to be the puck. Yeah, exactly.
On a question, too, did you guys see, obviously, this past week on on Saturday, Penn State, Michigan State at Beaver Stadium? Did you guys see any of that at all? I saw some clips. Yep. I did not watch the full game, but definitely saw some clips. I thought the coolest part because Brandon can speak from where the college hockey part and playing outdoor at that age, but there's a picture of McKenna scoring and he's given like the this, but you see all this crowd
behind him. And that must have been just the coolest feeling ever. So I'm pretty jealous of that. It looked on real Beaver Stadium. We've got a bunch of a bunch of friends and connections
with Penn State and they're always bragging to us and talking to us about how great Penn State is.
So kind of like through that, I've paid more attention to them and kind of been like a little bit of a fan of theirs and college football and just think that the whole campus and everything is super cool and the Beaver stadiums is awesome. So it looked awesome. Would be, would have been really cool to have. If they were doing a rink, there should have been an outdoor game there too.
“Like I told. I think I saw something that they're doing almost like a trial college hockey which”
it looks like it just went a plus across the board for an NHL game. Like that would be whatever teams would be in that one and that stadium, that area, that would be like Penn State hockey, like that program has just, I don't even, it's just completely taken off. Like it's only been around for, you know, the last, I'd say, 10 to 12 years, 15 years, whatever the number is. But now they've got a projected number one overall there. They're top five, like they're a complete wagon
and it showed having 67,000 people for a college hockey game. And I heard their facilities sick too and that helps recruit people on itself. Like I think most of the colleges that we saw, the facilities are nicer than they were at the NHL level. Like these college teams are so much money that's being put in. You know, why wouldn't your kid want to go to Penn State and play some of the best players in the country and play even at atmosphere like that? Like,
“fuck, there should be more of that. Even their normal rank, I think it's a coolest thing when they”
score, the lights come off. And then it's just like, oh, like whatever, like this, like people are got the pom-poms and like the white, the white pom-poms, like what an atmosphere for a college could imagine coming at 1718 Barnes Rock and Place Loveset, Place Loveset, like, holy, should I be on top of the world? Yeah. Yeah. There, that's that's a legendary play to have that game there. So I'm glad I was a success and two wagons going at it, too. Yeah, Michigan State's
pretty sick again this year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Really good goal. Yeah. You know, we got Shane that from St. Louis on Michigan State. Yeah. He's he's a pleased. He's a beast. He's a beast. He's a beast. He's a beast. And they'll happy for him. And I'll feel he got a good one with him and he's going to be a great player. So, um, not really, uh, really happy to see him doing well. So, you know, it's been fun to see him. You know, they have both good chances to go for the Natty. So I would awesome to see. All right.
That's all for me. So now we're going to bring over some voicemail. So here we go. Hey boys, it's Tyler from France, but not Carol Candida, call it that. I just want to say a lot where you do have the podcast and man, I might say the watch you boys play this year at the Olympics. Um, great question. It's just, you know, I'm starting out now coaching hockey after playing the 30 years. And I just wanted it when you were growing up,
What are some of the memorable things that you're, you know, good memories.
coaches, um, just hoping to kind of be one of those guys that somebody's played as a member to go
through their careers. Um, yeah, they might help others. Hey, ladies, good luck this year.
“Hope you have a great last to see. See. I'll I'll take that. Um, I think one of the best”
coaches that we had who is very important in our lives, still to this day, Jordan James, um, you know, we both have me downstairs right now. Yeah. Yeah. He's, he's looking over your finances right now. Probably not happy to what he says. Yeah. But I'm thrilled from the five years. No. Um, but I think what really stands out about him is the amount of time we did a skill development. And I feel like in St. Louis, you know, we had two practices a, practice a week. I think what was
a time slots an hour and 15 hour and 30 minutes. I think I think we practiced every Monday and Wednesday from like 6 30 to 7 50 or yeah, or whatever, five till 6 20. One of those two. So what stands out
for me, and this is a great question. But like, what is the, we did every 20, the first 20,
30 minutes of every practice was strictly individual skill. And that's, that wasn't the reason three lines in the goal. Yeah. It was like not just to carry, but it was like the skating, it was like the edges. It was just all the above that. I feel like it kind of gets lost now. And of course, it's a team sport. But when you're growing up, it's all about now getting better in every skill set, whether it's you're skating your edges, your, your stick handling. And we're
doing weaves like, you know, with four guys. So it's like, yeah, to keep your head up with obstacles and stuff like that. And, but it was the emphasis of that that I still take to the state that I'm like, thank God that we had Jordan because we wouldn't be to players that we were with the individual, like the fundamentals of our skill sets. And I just think of the youth hockey in general now. Like I've been to a couple, couple games and know a couple teammates, kids games,
and coaches are having them thumb to buck in at 10, 12 years old. Like it should be all about making plays and and yeah, we're going to toss and toe drags in the blue line going one on one in the middle. But like, this is giving go hockey everywhere. It's it's all about, you know, past jump to hold, get it back. But it's not individual. Let me see if I can do the Michigan every shift. It's the true fundamentals of a game of looking up where you're passing and
tape the tape. Like it was like Jordan's the best guy that we know, just so genuine, so nice, so so caring that just when it came to that stuff, it's just being crisp of, you know, free in a practice. There's reason why we're out here. Just work on our game of, you know, putting passes on on tapes and and now look at back with with our dad helping out being a assistant coach. He was the hammer. So if it wasn't, if there was it passes on tapes, yeah,
he wasn't afraid the next practice has no bucks at all. Yeah. I'm, I'm big on two things. And that's
“your passing on the tape every single time. And still, that's how I am like in my practice”
in the end, I'd show like if if I miss a pass or if I can't handle a pass or if somebody else like I, I'm pissed off if that happens to me and if somebody else does it like I get on them. Like I think that is such an underrated thing. If you can't pass the puck on some of these tape at full speed when they're stopped, when you're moving, when you're stopped, you just got no chance.
So that's the first and biggest skill I would work on. That that is number one. Number two,
the better the hockey gets and the better the higher you go up level wise, the less room there is. So I'm big on small area games. Get the kids in the corner, do a little two on two, you know, one goal, you know, three on three in one end. But the goal on each side, I know that's more of like a fun game. But I think that's so important. Little plays, little given goes, nothing pisses me off more than when kids or anybody. And each other is trying to do it all themselves or trying to do a
beat that one on one. Or there's very, very few, if your name's not, you know, make David or, you know, with interest on the these guys, no, I can't beat anybody one on one. There's no chance.
“It's no chance. I think it's, it's too hard. There's like two or three players in the game that”
maybe can. So it's all about given goes, using your teammates, but making sure those pucks and pass or crisps. So I'd say those are the two things that work on passing, small area games. What's up, boys? This is Isaac. He goes, you talk, go, man, it sucks up. Brady, Matthew, everyone ends in a slump at some point. And there, what is your biggest slump buster, whether it's a meal?
Music, music, what's your biggest slump buster?
Okay, Gary. No, what a question. Okay, Gary. No, I'm going to give you ready. We can't.
“Yeah, well, no, we can't. No, honestly, though, like this is not. No, no, no, this is, I actually have”
it genuine one. And then, like, with things get real tough, then you got to go do, like, just, so I'm giving you my genuine one. I know for me, and like a slump, like in things just slump buster, but I honestly, I just go out there and just do extra work. No, shoot more bucks on the ice, go out there early before stay camel shoot. Just try to, like, for me, it's, I know it's going to
get out of it eventually, but for me, my mindset has always been work-based and just work my way out.
I'm just, if I work in really maximize every single day that I know it's just going to, my hard work is going to get rewarded, and that's always kind of been my mindset. But when things get really, really bad at tough, you just got to play guilty of the next day, you got to back and just, a touch. You've been a church before, you're just long, please give me a talk. I mean, that's not why I go to church, but there's definitely a bit of times, like, you know what,
this is happening for a reason. Let's get a believe you're going to have that out of the bed.
“I think, I think mind is actually pretty interesting. So I'm very, very fortunate to play with”
some great players in one of them as a Vladiterus Sanko, and he taught me something. He, to me,
he has one of the best shots, wrist shots, like wrist snap shots that I've seen in the NHL, like in my career. Like him, Austin Matthews, after that, I don't know if there's many guys posture knock, you know, is up there. I mean, that's, that's those are the three best, I think. So what he taught me is every practice, he picks one spot and shoots their every single shot. So one morning he can be like, I'm going five for every single shot. And every single shot for
the whole practice on a goal he shoot in there. So I kind of like started to think about that more, like, if you do that, you're probably taken however many 50 to 100 shots in practice at that one spot. You got to get better, right? So I started doing that a little bit. Those are just in random practice, not necessarily if I'm going to slump them up, but if I'm going to slump, it is, you're going out in the practice, and I don't care if it's an empty net,
three on O drill, and the place dead and Bob's getting ready for the next shot, put that fucking puck in the net as hard as you can. Finish every single shot, you're in line, and a rebound comes to you. Another shot is coming. You put that puck in the net. Just from all areas of the ice, you end the practice, throwing shooting as hard as you can, just every single puck you try to put through the net. And then you hit you for that. And then yeah, yeah, but that
is where it is. And then what I also do is in warmups, I'll make sure that every single shot I have, I hit the net, and if I miss the shot, I'll do the same exact route. I just did hit the nut. That's kind of super sessions, but that's actually funny. For sessions, it's just like make sure you hit the fucking nut. I'm not supposed to add all thoughts. I know you go back and you hit that damn spot before you move on.
But that's funny to you say that, because like, I had the same conversation with Flattie. Yeah. And then he told me that, and that's so funny you said that I'm like, because there's been times where he's done it. I was like, oh, I'm going to do it. I remember I shot. I told the goal is
like, you'll know, I'm shooting this same spot all practice at first shot. Act like I was going
high glove. I just dipped it right on the ice. I did it. The rest of practice. So that's crazy. Funny you say that, because I had the same exact conversation with them.
“But I thought it was great. But I think I think that helps. It might not guarantee you”
getting out of that slump the next day, but it'll just get your mind in when game time comes like bare fucking down around that. And I like that feeling. Hey, Brady, Matthew. It's Owen from Long Island, New York. My question is for both of you guys. What is your jersey map, Rushmore? Can be any sport or jerseys of any sport? Good luck with the rest of the season boys. I hope you guys have a good one.
Okay. That's really putting me on the spot. Top four. And I have two that popped my head right away. I have the LSU all white for my guy Ryan. I popped my head. All misses baby blue. Fuck you. Oh good. All misses baby blue. And I'm going to start thinking, I mean, the Yankees ones iconic. That's right. That's my iconic one. And I'm not, I'm not going to go
Hawking.
to the packers, like a historic franchise. That's a tough one, tough one, tough question from you
“from Long Island. I like those three, those are just a three that popped in my head. And you know what?”
Mount Rushmore for this one. Kind of a little off the beaten path, but Sunday red tiger. Wow. I kind of got it down. Wow. I kind of him. They come to these things. Wow. What a pull out of your back pocket. Wow. And I'm like the one who actually had to think of, I got to think about it for a little longer, not one. So I think, I mean, that's got to be number one on everybody's right. Passed to be. But no, I think we do this to come up with different ones. I'm going with, I think
the Carolina blue, North Carolina, like any, any one of their jerseys. So we'll just call it football. I just, yeah, just the Carolina blue itself is so sick. I love that one. And that kind of goes into
my second one, which is my Florida Panthers, all tenet jerseys, the retros, the retros, the baby
blue with the param tree there. Kind of love like the, that baby blue, the baby blue theme there. But it's a home or answer. Oh, like, do you, like, let's get creative. Like, let's take, I love
“those ones. Those ones are awesome. I'm going, I'll go number three. I think that the USA 1980,”
Olympic, like, you just, you think the USA hockey, you think of that one. I just think, so iconic, ours are very similar to that one. But just the original one, but the, you know, the blue CCM bucket, like, you know, O.C. in the movie like that. That bucket's just so sick. So I'll go with that one. And then I'm going to go number four. I'm going to go with an NHL franchise. I think their home jerseys just so clean and so nice. And that's a Chicago black ox. Like, it's just any original six is awesome.
But it was hard for me to pick between the black ox, the rangers or the, or the, the red wings. But I think the black ox is just pretty iconic. And I don't know, the rangers once pretty sick, too. But yeah, those would be mine. I just love the Carolina blue. That's far in a way. My, my number one, you took my Ole Miss blue. But I'll go with that. Well, that's all the voicemails we have. Once again, we thank you guys for submitting them, keep submitting them. And then I'll find my Instagram page at
Quater Wing Man. You'll find the number under there. And that's just what we've all done waiting for.
“That's why we've played a beautiful game. This is what we've been waiting for. The one of the best”
segments of all time. And podcast history is history. Like, this is where we get to give recognition to the ones that deserve it. Whether they see it or not. They're wingmen. And that's a lot of matters. They're they're a part of the special club. Yeah. And in the grand scheme, it's going to be a very point zero zero zero, zero one percent of people are going to be wingmen during constructs, wingmen of the week. Hmm. She's one of that special crew. And there's many, many more that are going to come.
But Matthew, who's your wingmen of the week? So this past week, a lot of great things have happened in my, in my life. And probably the number one thing that's happened is I sat my ass on that couch downstairs for an hour and 41 went and hour and 41 minutes. And with the normies on with the I have this new thing too. It's like a ice too for shoulders, knees, hips. Deem ready. Kind of like a game ready, but with compression. And like, I don't like, I don't know why I do it. It just feels
like, um, that's that's after I do or that's before I do my cold. So when did that? Sorry, when did cold tub went downstairs hooked up every gadget I had in me. And I said, Matthew, put the phone away. Your focus for an hour and 41 minutes. And I watched on Netflix, the new miracle, boys and 1980s. I was called the boys of 1980 documentary, Brady. And we had the privilege of talking to Rizzo, um, a few weeks ago. And he kind of prep this without us knowing. And I was just so jacked
up for those few weeks getting ready for this. Brady, it blew it out of the water. It was so sick.
But my wingman of the week and he's always one of my favorite guys of the team from the movie,
from the history from everything. We've got a lot of connections to him. I actually don't know him personally, but a lot of people we know, no, no. And that is Jack O'Calley and Charles Tadmas. He is my wingman of the week. He is such a, got him legend. And my favorite part about him, first of all, like, him doing all the flashbacks and watching himself. He just seemed like such a cool, cool, great teammate, great player. But when he's doing the interview, after they win the gold medal,
and he's talking about, oh, they Americans took over, uh, Belmonton, all that took over,
Like, flash and it's just the greatest thing.
is that what it was? Belmonton, I don't even know what it was. We're a bunker hill, a bunker
hooker hill. Um, like, yeah, the, you know, America took over Belmonton. We took over, like, plastic, they're all like, wow, because he's like, pretty pen, probably. And then one of the reporter goes, the Americans, like, didn't take or, oh, it's something. Do you guys, don't tell me that.
“I don't need to know that. I think it was, uh, a lot of boys, how let's do the greatest thing”
of all time. But I mean, I love that doctorate so much, you probably can watch it again this week before go out over there. Well, I love to watch as a group, though, it's unbelievable, unbelievable. Don't worry, it's not going to be one of our rooms. It's going to be hard to really beat that moods. Give it a pro. See, we'll see. Oh, it's back, baby. Um, well, I know it's not going to beat mine, but what is yours? No, I mean, yours is actually yours every week. You have, you have
something special up your sleeve. And for me, for me, I've just, I'm just in, in the life, I'm just in, in the real world. And you know, we've talked about this. We're not just, uh, yeah, we're majority, mostly hockey podcast, but we love sports. You know, I love sports. Not just the main ones. And this is still a made one, but this is worldwide. Don't know much about it. Not very good at it. But I'm going to go the old tennis rope for my wingmen of the week. Carlos, I'll crash.
This is my wig. We had it the week. And just read up on him. After watching the highlights, because it's a 330 start time. And I was not up for 330. I've actually, like, I've actually, like a tennis fan. I love watching tennis. So you're here and you try to pronounce the name
one. And like, you never watch a tennis match in your life. You just say, I am. You can't break
a serve. I can't do it. It's a momentum shift. Um, but to win or to be a grand grand slam winner, 25 years old. All right. Frate with all looking. One of the grand slam, grand slam. I'm surely an open, whippled it. Fred Chopin. I was going to the side already. See, I was really in the right. Yeah. He just won the
“Austria US Open New York. I think she's up. It's always in September the US Open in New York.”
I want to make a trip out of that one. Yeah. I guess you're this huge tennis fan. Oh, my God. Okay. Let's actually talk my appreciation for tennis. And I do have an appreciation. Like, these matches like are just an absolute grind. Three, four hours, monoimono. And like, I actually did like, I watched Roger Feders graduation. He had a speech. And, you know, it doesn't take a rocket science. It's one of the best tennis players of all time. But rocket
scientists, but yeah. Did I say science? I got a fucking struggle right now. Holy, I'm flustered. 22 years old grandson. But how he said something about tennis and his mindset of he won all these tournaments, all these grand slams. But all he did was win 54% of his points. I thought that was shows shows like the margin of elite tennis players. And that's just life too. It's like, doesn't matter what happened at that point. It's all with the next one. Holy,
“shit. We can throw a soft goal right now. During winning one of the week. That's why it's a great”
segment. So I said that. But the appreciation for those guys, the athleticism, the strength, power, serves. Do you ever think you could return a serve? Absolutely not. No, not only out of how many tries. Hundred tries. Brady, I wouldn't get one return because I went watch your toes center pace. Placed. I actually got a tennis lesson. When we were there, one morning just wanted to sweat it out. And I was like, put some, put some into the serve. And I couldn't return it.
And that's an instructor and saying, yeah, I think I saw, I mean, I don't know what the highest record one, but I saw Jill Kitch. He, I think it was a 1951 kilometer serve. I thought that was impressive. Right on. Well, maybe, well, I'm still a pickleball get a easier better for the hands. I'm less running. So yeah, hell of a show. You did, you did excellent. You were on your, yeah, on your guide day. I was like, yeah, I swear to see what was going
fight. I swear, I see what's going on. I haven't seen it. So I'll look at my phone after this one. Well, that wraps up the 13th episode of Wingmen. New episodes drop Wednesday during the NHL season.
