Our first mystery today is the feast of Saint John, Viani Now the people of ours didn't quite know what to do with their parish priest

“Father, Viani was gentle and kind for sure, but he continually called them to a deeper conversion”

He thought they should pray every day, they should come every Sunday to mass Go frequently to confession and to love Jesus especially in the Eucharist His love was relentless, but not everyone appreciated it Some parishioners and even some fellow priests decided he was just too demanding

So they put together a petition asking the bishop to remove him

And then they passed it around collecting signatures A farmer who didn't know Father Viani handed the petition to him And what did Saint John Viani do? Well he read it and then he signed it Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, that kingdom come, that will be done on earth as it is in heaven

If you fail they will criticize you but the truth is most people they're not thinking about you at all anyway

They're too busy thinking about themselves so why even worry about it G. K. But second, the second truth of humility, I am God's beloved child, my worth doesn't come from success, it doesn't come from popularity, it doesn't come from the approval of others, my identity and worth comes from my father He created me, redeemed me, he's actually making me holy right now, and he's called me to live with him forever in heaven Actually, as a son of the great king, our father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, thy kingdom come by will be done on earth as it is in heaven

“Let go laugh that doesn't matter that part of that dream world of it's not as if we don't we owe people a good witness and our reputation does matter but it's not such a fixed thing that we have control over anyways”

And the things that you said are the things that we actually have control over are not even control they're just a given you're a child of God God cares about you God knows that there's good in you God once you're good I can only be secure in that I can't be secure in that constantly changing dreamscape that is perception and reputation

it is amazing how if we can learn to just laugh at ourselves it diffuses everything but it's founded on this trust that God is my father and no matter what happens I'm safe

and that you're right that people hopefully aren't really thinking about it realistically they're thinking so much about themselves they're not thinking about you either and even if people are holding onto that and they're thinking about that and they're stewing on something you've done that's both out of your control and something that they as an individual need to get control over that I should get control of myself when I'm stewing on something that someone else has done I have to let go but that's on me

exactly and the fastest way because it's all about self focus self absorption we're so concerned about what other people are thinking about us because we're thinking about us the fastest way to think everyone else is thinking about us exactly because it's all we're thinking about this is this is the core this is the issue we're so focused on ourselves we think others are thinking about and they're really not even if they criticize us and so the fastest way is start thinking about God

hyper focused on ourselves so as we stop that all the problems go away and for me that's just getting out of the dream realize it's a dream come back to reality

“because it I do a lot lose a lot of sleep and a lot of peace over it I don't feel like John Bionney did that no that's our that's our antidote”

think less think about ourselves less think about God more

be interested in others give others a little bit more margin for error and

“hope and pray that they'll give you the same”
