Welcome to our daily Rosary Meditation.
of the faith. Today, justification. Let's begin in the name of the Father in the Son in the Holy
“Spirit. Let's call him mind all those. We've promised to pray for. I believe in God, the Father”
Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, He's only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again,
He ascended into heaven and he seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the community of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting in them. Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name. By kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus, stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
“against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Amen.”
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed, art thou among women, blessed,
is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, known at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed, art thou among women, blessed, is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, known at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed, art thou among women, blessed, is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, known at the hour of our death, Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit. As He was the beginning as known of our shall be, world without end, amen.
“Our first mystery, one of the great errors the church has had to fight throughout her history,”
but especially during the Protestant Reformation, is the doctrine of total depravity. This is the idea that human beings are pure evil, that there's nothing good about us at all. And because there's nothing good about us, there's nothing we can contribute to our salvation. There's nothing to work with, nothing on which to build. This is the doctrine of Martin Luther. For Luther, our only hope was that God would forgive us by declaring us to be acceptable.
But God wouldn't actually clean us or heal us from our sin. He wouldn't actually make us holy. If we accept salvation by faith and Jesus Christ, Luther said, that's all there is to it. We don't have to get over our sins, we're growing the love of God, or come to a deeper understanding of God's ways. We can just be saved. Then in there, because even though God leaves us as the same registered sinners as he found us, he won't hold it against us because we're totally depraved.
And God knows that's all we'll ever be. But actually, and thankfully, that's not how salvation works. Not at all. Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, that kingdom come, that will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stay, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed,
our Thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown, in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown, in the hour of our death, amen. “and especially those most in need of mercy. Our second mystery, whenever Jesus passes someone's”
sick or blind or lame in the Gospels, what does that person want? Does that person just want Jesus to overlook their problems? Of course not. That person wants to be healed. No blind man cries out to Jesus. Son of David, have pity on me, except me as I am. No lame man says, "Please, Lord, I want you to ignore my disability." Now, they say,
"I want to be healed. I want to see." They say, "If you will, you can make me clean."
Jesus doesn't ignore our problems. Jesus doesn't just decide not to hold our problems against us. Jesus offers healing. That's the promise of salvation. Because God made us good and we are still good and God wants to heal us to make us as good as we can be.
“So that we will be fit company for Him and everyone else for all eternity.”
Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is and heaven. As we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us,
and in the hour of our death amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, and in the hour of our death amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, and in the hour of our death amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As He was in the beginning, He has now and ever shall be world without end amen. Oh, my Jesus, for He give us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of
Mercy.
Didn't think God could use or perfect any aspect of our nature. This is how He came up with
“His three great solos, His alones, grace alone, faith alone, and scripture alone.”
They're the three great onlys of the early Protestant system. He said we were saved by grace alone, in other words, God just decided to be merciful to certain sinners. That mercy was a grace, but it doesn't actually change our character. They remain as awful as ever. So we're saved by grace, but not by actually becoming virtuous. Luther also said that we were saved by faith alone. Faith was an acceptance of God's mercy and forgiveness, and that was all
the matter. Works didn't matter. It didn't matter what you did. That could never contribute to your
salvation, because a rotten sinner like you could never do anything good anyway. And Luther said
“we could only know anything about God through scripture alone. Reason is a human faculty,”
and if all our human faculties are depraved and worthless, then reason can't help us understand anything about God or His will for us. So forget philosophy, forget theology, forget the church's careful reflections and teachings about our faith over the centuries, for Luther those were all vain reasonings, human things that have nothing to do with God. The Bible alone, that's the only place for any truth. So it was Luther who sets up the great
battle between faith and reason, faith in science. The Catholic church never did that.
Again, this is all based on the view that human nature is so totally broken that it can't be fixed.
“Not even by God, but if it turns out that we are still basically good and that with God's help,”
what is broken in us can be healed and made holy, well then salvation is going to look a lot different. Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name. That kingdom come that will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let us stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen. Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of
thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. Now at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of
thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. And earth is now at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of
Thy womb Jesus.
Hail Mary, be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning,
it has now never shall be, world without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us, our sins,
save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of mercy. Our fourth mystery, the Catholic response to the Protestant Reformation was to reject the doctrine of total depravity because God made us good and we are good. And God loves that goodness in us. He respects that goodness and He wants to enhance and employ that goodness
“in all His saving work. That's why He took on our human nature in the first place because He loves”
our human nature. And He wants to show us how good it can be and how much good it can do.
So it's not just grace alone. It's grace working with human nature. Taking what's good in human nature, raising it, purifying it, empowering it. Grace doesn't ignore or replace human nature. It builds on human nature and perfection so that we really share in God's nature. And it's not just faith alone. Yes, we have to believe. But then we have to live according to what Jesus said. We have to live according to our beliefs. We have to work. We have to be
God's co-workers in the vineyard, as Saint Paul says. And Paul also tells us to work out our
“salvation. For God will repay everyone according to their works. So God wants us to cooperate with”
Him in our salvation. He forgives us our sin. But He also wants us to be perfect as He is perfect, which takes a lot of grace and prayer and love and growth in virtue. And it's not just scripture alone. Yes, scripture is a source of divine truth. But scripture came to us through the human hands of the apostles and those they authorized and through their successors. And the church's reason to reflection on scriptural truth preserved from air by the Holy Spirit is what makes it possible to
understand scripture and apply it in our own time and in our own day. The point is that the Christian life, the process of justification of being saved, it's not just letting God do things to you. It's not God ignoring your nature or overriding your nature. It's God using your nature, celebrating your nature, enlisting your cooperation in everything. The Christian life isn't just passive acceptance on the part of a totally inert and worthless person. God thinks you're way better
“than that. In fact, the Christian life is a dynamic, active, constructive participation in the life”
and work of God. It's working with Christ as we strive to become more and more like Him. That's what salvation means. That's what justification is. Our Father who art in heaven, Halloween be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a dear, dear bread and for give us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil, amen.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are Thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earns now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are Thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earns now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are Thou

Hail Mary, be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, it's now in the shadow world without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to have and especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our 5th mystery, of course, in a sense, Luther's vision of salvation, it's a lot easier
because you just get to do your own thing and as long as you admit your a sinner and have faith in Jesus, you're all set. You don't have to do anything else because there's really nothing else,
a miserable worm like you could even do anyway. Whereas, if God wants you to be a protagonist
“in your own healing, your own growth and holiness, if you have to constantly work to get”
over vise and grow in real love, well, that's a lot more work. But the work is worth it because it's a great joy to know that you are so loved by God that he isn't just going to leave us the way we are. He's going to give us and he has given us a real participation in his divine life where we actually become his sons and daughters and that we actually take part in his work of helping him save others. What a tremendous dignity we have. What a great joy,
it is to collaborate with him and what a fantastic eternity we have to look forward to truly sharing in the life of God. Our Father, Warton, heaven, hell, it would be your name. That kingdom come. They will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a daily bread and forgive us or trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
“And let us not in to temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.”
Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee blessed our thumb. And women blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us and our own sown at the hour of our death. “And women blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus.”

As it was beginning as now and to Versailles be world without end amen. Oh, my Jesus. For you, us are sin, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to have an especially those most in need of diversity. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
Make God review, can we help me pray and do that? Well, Prince of the Heavenly Host by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits who proud throughout the world seeking the root of souls. In the name of the Father and the Son of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
So that concludes our walk through all the essential doctrines of the Catholic faith.
And we really just walked through part one of the Catechism. Even though with this last one, we threw one in from the third part of the Catechism. And we have two great guests with us today from our school of faith team, Nicholas Henkel and Nick Morrison, who are really engaged on the front line of helping our members really live out this movement. So thanks for joining us today. We're letting Trisa off the hook a little bit.
Yeah, when I need backup, I call in both the next team.
“I'm glad to help. So what struck you guys today with this meditation?”
You didn't know we were going to meditate on this.
I mean, I thought it was beautiful. I'm very needed.
Like for me right now, that it's so easy to let just the voices of Satan convince you that you're you're not worth it. That the Lord is abandoned you, that you're alone. And yeah, that the best Jesus can do is sort of throw a blanket over it and drop it back, right? Yeah. Like that is such an easy lie. And I think all of us fall into it. And make sure you want to give up the fight, because you don't think there's a fight to be
had here. Right. I think it's easy to look at this meditation and think it's just kind of kicking the Protestants while they're down. But it's just really appreciating our dignity and that there is a fight we have every single day. Yeah. And that it's a beautiful thing to see that our Lord established his church to be able to help. That's the beautiful reality that I felt like was being announced in this meditation is that the Lord wants to work through his
church to help me in my life. Like my sin is bad. Don't get me right. Yeah. Now, I need help. I am depraved, but it's not, it's not a hopeless fight. It's a tough fight. Yeah. And it's a long fight. You know, that it's gonna take years. And but that our Lord is willing to
“have the patience to work with me. Yeah. I really think the transfiguration is the best”
scene of hope because Jesus takes our human nature to himself. And at the transfiguration, we see it glorified. And he's showing us right there. Listen, this is what I'm doing to you, hang in there, keep fighting, keep working with me. I'm transforming you like this. Yeah. Yeah. And he doesn't write before the crucifixion, and he's trying to strengthen us to keep fighting. Yeah. He's kind of ironic because I mean, when you talk about what did
God do when he became man, he didn't say like, I'm so perfect. I'm showing you the difference between you and me. He's like, I'm showing you what you can be. Exactly. Otherwise, why become man? He could have just come, he could have been like, this is my God form. You're seeing my physical God form, isn't this really cool? Right. He lived 33 years as just a human man. We can be something more than what we are, but as humans, it's not like erasing that. It's beautiful. It paragraph 460 of the
catechism boils down Catholicism to a nutshell, that beautiful line from Erineus all the way down to Thomas Aquinas to the catechism. God became man so that man could become God. We can become God by participation. This is the greatness of Catholicism. Right. You know, I grew up Protestant,
I'm very -- That's why we brought you in on this.
And while I am very grateful for my Christian upbringing, you know, being sent to a Christian school,
“my life. Yeah. Yeah. Line that you -- Scripture referenced earlier of workout, your face,”
your fear and trembling. The beauty of the Catholic faith is you have very tangible ways between prayer meditation, writings of the saints, and the sacraments that all our through God's grace helping you grow and holiness and grow closer to Him so that you can become like God. Yeah. It's not some esoteric thing. You have confession. You have the priest right there. Listen to you. You have the eucharist right there. You have the right to the saints saying that you need prayer meditation,
all these things that are pushing you towards your worship with God, as long as you are
actually participating in it. Yeah, we're so well-armed. So let me ask both of you while I have you here. You're, as I said, you're on the front line, you're interacting with all these people praying with us and all the people who are their actively pursuing holiness. Yeah. But what's your for each of you? What's your heart's desire? What do you long for for the people that you're
“ministering to that you're working with? The people that are listening to us right now?”
It's a great question. I think probably that they can be bolstered up by this
community. You know, I'm so blessed again. So many people I talk to. You know, they want to say,
hey, tell me I can Theresa, you know, they've changed my life for whatever. So, so I'm telling you now, you've changed many people's words. And we appreciate it to hear that and to know that, you know, we're not alone in this. That it's so wonderful to be able to hear and these people have this experience of, you know, wow, there are people, you know, in Kansas City of all places. Mm-hmm. You know, Troy, who wants to help me and then that that's true, you know, that I'm so blessed to be
called to be a part of this movement, to be a part of this community that's just our greatest desires just to help help each other. Exactly. Yeah, it's beautiful that not only is God saying, we get to actively participate in this fight. It's an honor to be fighting alongside all of you that I'm looking at in this room, but also the people that listen with us. It's helping some small way. Yeah. Like it's like, I can, I can really say, like, I'll be seeing it's all the war doing
what I can really say. I'm playing a part like I'm participating towards something. Could you imagine the other version of that? That's just, you get to this huge battle of all the souls on the line in the entire world. And God's like, hey, sit on the sidelines. Yeah. That guy's got it. And Jesus marches down. And we just all sit there in the dirt versus just the rowing you a weapon and like get in there. Yeah. Fight for something. Like rise up, it feels so good to be Catholic and like
Nick Morrison was saying just like, we are our, and we are, we have each other in that. It's beautiful that you get to talk with all of our audience members and you really see that they're armed. They're ready for that fight. And we just enjoy being together in it. Yeah. But I think we should stop calling them audience. The people praying with us. They're not audience. Yeah. It's about have it. Well, everyone praying with us, committed to their own Holiness, committing to help,
committed to helping their loved ones. We're all in this spiritual army together. And what I love
“is that Jesus, Jesus came to us to help us. That's what we mean by incarnation. But that's the model.”
And that's why we go to the people in our movement to help them. God didn't just sit up in heaven and give instructions. He came to the people. And that's what we do with the movement. And then we send the members of the movement to their people. It's what an honor is to be a part of this. An honor to fight beside you, Nick. Yeah. And Nick. And Nick. See, we had you on the podcast so we could specifically make references to Protestant doctrine and then also military to make you feel welcomed and
understood. That's right. I feel very seen right now. Well, thanks for joining us guys. Great to have you as part of our team. Thank you. Thank you. Let's be apostles of friendship. Good conversation and the rosary. Share this with others.
