[MUSIC PLAYING]
[MUSIC PLAYING] Her views are pausing.
She's more than you might think.
She used the castle and her name is Ashley. [MUSIC PLAYING] We love our friend, Ms. Hosey. [CHEERING] I tried it today.
Not gonna lie. Why? I'll step up whenever anyone talks about it. It is. Oh, boy.
Is that real? Real. That's not real. Do you want, um-- I swear.
“You want some caffeine from my strawberry watermelon refresher?”
No, you got anything that I'm caffeinated? Well, you're in luck. This is a spriteberry blast. Well, why don't you hand it over to your boy? Because you know what?
But I do think you should-- I think everything's going to work out great after we drink these. I'm just going to put all these for the side. I'm going to do what? I'm just going to put it on the side.
We can offer her 100 or something, but I'm not going to force it off for her the spriteberry blasts. They're just-- these are big, these are big buffs. OK, let's put it on. I know you like a tidy kitchen when people come over.
I just like my-- I do. Yeah. I know, Chuck. You prepare that way, too.
I've seen you. I know. I do, that's why I'm not getting upset. I don't want that. You propose.
She's here. We're not opening-- I do a crap well. Hey, guys. She invented the style of saying that it's so characteristic
that it became a meme. And then I got to make fun of her. She entered very young on this mega-pop star trajectory. And then it was like, she could draw you perfectly. Man, this is a brand of skate for me.
And it might be my son's side too. [LAUGHTER] People say this to me all the time. I said, should I call you Dick here, Dave? And I always--
So should we call you Dick? Should-- Halsy or Ashley? Ash? Ash.
That's what you call me. I call you Ash. I like Ash. I prefer it, really. Yeah.
Ash. Yeah. Does Ashley make you feel like you're in trouble? Yes. Yeah.
That's exactly right. Yeah. I was feeling like my mom was being like, Ashley, Nick, oh, good downstairs. Do you have sisters?
No. Two little brothers. Oh. Yeah. I'm the oldest.
Ash, I was going to offer you a drink when you're holding this. That's a tea. We can still offer it. If you won't, we got drinks from the Mick Cafe
from McDonald's. No, I'm OK. Feud drink more than this, so I'm going to spend the whole time. You can spend the whole time.
Oh, you didn't. Yeah. Oh, yeah. In big time, Pierre? Yeah.
How long have you known Ash? 11 years. Hey, they're like old friends. I met you through Benny back in the day. Yeah, it was the Friendship Secrets party.
And Benny, after I heard radio awards, and the place you guys were going to do it fell through.
And I was at Benny's first session.
And he was like, we're going to do his party. He was on the phone. He was like, "Venny Filter." Bob, I was like, oh, that's great. Where is he?
I just got the keys today to like, my new house in Beach of Canyon. I was like, I have to say huge house. I remember this house. I remember it. I remember it.
It was your house. Oh, my god, we threw that massive party. There's no furniture like nothing. It was unbelievable. It was broken up by the police game.
Also, I was stressed out because I'm not like, I'm not like, I'm not a dog's everybody right now. Yeah, do. He like Katy Perry there. Charlie was there.
West was DJing. Yeah. Charlie, X-X was there, and Fitarmony, Charmin as well. Everyone from the award show. All right.
I wasn't asking for a show. I still was there. You were there.
“I only remember two things about that night, and I can tell you”
the two things I remember. I remember a lot of things. I remember. Number one. Oh, I know you're going to say.
No, you don't. I think I do. Say it. Bathroom. Never mind.
That was a different part. That was a different part. That was a different part. No, that was a different part. No, that was a different part.
That was a different part. That was a different part. We're sitting by the DJ booth, and it's like the party's rocking.
It was the first time I ever saw someone famous, acknowledge your music publicly.
Me? In person with me. It was Shawn Mendez. I was really stressed out because the police come and they're like, and I'm drunk. They're like, we won't talk to the owner of the house.
I'm like, well, I guess that's me. I just bought a house. It's like, I decided to talk to the police, and they're like, we got shut this down. And like, now you don't. Yeah.
And they're like, yeah, we do. And I was like, why? I was like, they were like, because you're breaking the law. I was like, we'll law my breaking. And they were like, if we were breaking the law, I was like, no, we're not.
I don't know what happened. We asked, switched on. Yeah. I was like, we're operating within the legal, sound decibel limit. I was like, we're not exceeding fire code.
There's no cars parked on the street. I was like, and I haven't exceeded the amount of people we're talking about in front of this. Wow.
“And they were like, well, and I was like, well, why am I breaking?”
They were like, the law of common sense. Wow. Because I was like, that's not a real law. See later officers. I started walking away, Miley Cyrus was running out the door.
She had like a bag of postmates in her aunt.
She's like, got a go girl, got a go girl, got a go girl, got a go girl, got a go girl. Anyway. Okay.
“You were talking, I think you were talking about this one.”
One time we were at a party, and I really had to shit. And I said, Dave, we come, like, keep me company, like, I don't want to, like, walk. Yeah. And it was like, something like you, bathroom. And we were, I think we were in, like, the primary, like, room or something.
Yeah. And we're, we're taking shit, and it's taking, like, a little bit. Not a little bit. I am. I am.
What do you mean? The royal wee. I'm just hanging out. I'm taking a shit, and Dave goes, there's, there's someone in here. And I said, yeah.
And I said, what? Yeah. And he said, I think there's someone in here. And I said, because we were in the bathroom of a bedroom of a bedroom of, like, the big bedroom.
And I was like, really? And we, like, look out.
And we, basically, we basically decide to walk out.
And as we're walking out, we cross paths with you and a person you were dating at the time. I remember this at all. It wasn't like you weren't hugging, it wasn't like you weren't hugging. No, it wasn't.
It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging.
It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging.
It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging.
It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging. It wasn't like you weren't hugging.
“When I put out my first record that I think that for so much of my career I felt like”
I felt like I worked for someone. So it makes sense. Yeah. I felt like an employee. Yeah.
Eventually it occurred to me. I was like, I'm in control of this whole thing. I don't have to, you know, I feel I think it's so felt like a kid. I felt like all the grownups in the room were going to be disappointed in me. If I said no or if I didn't want to do something or I couldn't do something.
And then eventually I was like, that's not how this works at all. Yeah. You know, you can pull the shots. Yeah. But you're making music.
Like you like singing. Love it. Yeah. We want to do it on your own terms. Definitely.
The only time I remembered you were the only time. Because I didn't know you were sad during that. The only time I remembered. Yes, you did. I wrote so many songs.
I know. I know. I know. But it's so cool. No.
No. No. No. No. No.
I knew you were like. I knew I didn't know yet. Yeah. You know, I felt like all the time and didn't understand why. You know?
Yeah.
“So like that was like a big part of it, too, I think.”
You really felt like shit. Oh my god. Wait, how long did you feel like shit without knowing your sick for? Oh, like eight years. Oh, wow.
My first like blood test in my chart.
When I got diagnosed with lupus, they were like, we could have called.
Like if someone was paying attention, we could have figured this out. Like eight years ago. Yeah, I didn't take them so long. Because I just did you not go to bed? Did you not go to bed?
Did you go to bed? Did you go to bed? I just, I also like, you know, I grew up like. Where are you from? Jersey.
Oh, really? Yeah. Where are you from? Where are you from? Where are you from?
You're right, Jersey. Why did you do that when you were doing you think about you. Do you not love the where are you? Oh, no. He's asking where and Jersey and from is hard to say.
I moved a lot. Oh. Do you have any friends? Yeah. I mean, no, not really.
Yeah. Really?
I always say the way my parents raised me accidentally made me like really well-equipped
for your career. My career. Yeah.
“I'm like, you seem to be like, I have like, I'm not attached to like one place, you know?”
Did you experience like a high school and one student? Yeah. I did. Yeah. How was your high school experience?
What do you guys think it was? Were you cool? Were you cool? No, I wasn't cool. I know you don't want to.
No, she's nerdy. She's like unbelievable. That's just a shadow. I wasn't hot, but I was still of smart and cool. You said you weren't cool.
Cool. Oh, God. Wait, you got thin of like tumblr, right? Yeah. I never even had a tumblr experience.
Really? Yeah. I do remember when I was younger. They had like the best like pictures. It was really like well-curated.
Like, it's for like art. Yeah. Is it?
You know, I also never had experience with my space.
Are they similar in just now? No. Very different. The space is like, Gerber, baby food. This is like tumblr's like tumblr's like,
your mother making you perfect like organic food. Like it's so curious. Actually, I haven't thought about tumblr in a long time. But I did this a lot. I thought the thing.
No, I still have one. Do you see how you still act upon it now? Yeah, but like it's like a very small. But you used to be following there. It's like where I go to post stuff that
I don't want everybody else to make a big deal out of. Yeah. I'm like, I could post like a really sad poem on there. Like a life update. And it never makes it's way to like the regular press.
It's like that full community. Yeah. If I do, yes. It is. It's like if I posted the same thing on like Instagram or something.
I shot the next thing. Yeah. And I say, well, all of these post troubling. Yeah. Yeah.
All right.
Do you think I feel this way?
Maybe I'm wrong. Because I'm like, I don't know. I'm basing this off of nothing. But I feel like each sort of like internet thing has a different personality.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
“I think that also one thing that I like how to”
hard time with was tumblr took itself so seriously. But also like you could really joke around and it didn't matter. Yeah. This is a faceless. Like you know what I mean?
Yeah. Like you could post like poetry. Photos aren't like it was more about what you were making. Yeah. And what you were in too.
Yeah. That was about like what you looked like. Yeah. So that was really important. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place.
Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah.
And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place.
Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place.
Yeah. And if you did have a lot of people who were in the same place. Yeah. I don't know. I think...
I just... I got less famous. So people stopped caring as much. What do you mean? You know what I mean?
Like when you're making pop records. And like it was like all lots of pressure. Yeah. And it was like it was kind of nice that everyone was like... Just like let me do my thing.
You did your less famous now than before. But what is that? How do you measure that nowadays? Is it just like you feel like it's... You just can sense it?
Yeah.
“I'm truly asking. I'm not sure that you're the last name. I don't know. I think it's all cyclical. I'm just like really enjoying this.”
You were saying when you go outside, nobody knows who you are? No, that's not what I was saying. She's like, "Enter." She's like, "Enter." She's very young on this mega pop star trajectory.
It was really great.
Yeah. I must have said, "My life just looks different." She was living every step in bigger, bigger. How can I lecture like that? Every award show. You're doing a performance. You're flying of this. You're doing it. I remember it was like this. It was like put out and it was like this and people were like, "Oh, this is like a thing." And then it just went like literally. It went like from here, it was like, "Angling." It was like, "Oh, this could be good." And then it was like, "Soulute." And like hit smooth a thing.
But then when you said that you realized you were unhappy, when you first realized that you were like taking off, you were like writing a high or something.
“Which one was your first number one? Closer. Yeah. My first solo number one was without me. Are you excited to make a new album?”
Yeah. I don't know. God knows.
Hit pop album? One day? No. Definitely not. Do you push it off? Like, do you get anxiety about never start?
I always want to be doing it now. But I actually like, I feel like it would be the way it happens for me. I was like, I always kind of like, I was like, find a, I don't know how to say like a vibe. But there's always a story here. Like, you know, something like that. Like a theme? Yeah. And I stumble upon that. And then it's like, "When that feels right, I'm like, okay, go off and..." So what do you do last week? Last week. I went to Vancouver with Ab and went to visit his parents, brought under.
Okay. Then I flew home. I did treatment. Oh my god. Which one? What's treatment? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I did chemo. Which I do twice a year. Are you still drinking? Okay. Twice a year for... That's tough. The foreseeable future. I guess. Way better though than it used to be like once a month. It's so scary. Yeah. It's like, I'm used to it now.
What does it make you feel like horrible when it's like a couple days? Just nauseous. If you feel like, okay, the wigs when it to people is like you're being poisoned. Because like, you are. So like imagine the worst, the gnarly is hanging over you've ever had in your life. Yeah. You also did like a ton of drugs. You didn't drink any water.
It's like my best friend got like breast cancer like when she was 25.
And so she did the kids. She did all that. Like, it's like, it's like your entire body is being poisoned. Yeah. So you got, you got breast cancer? No, no. I didn't have breast cancer. I had a blood cancer. Oh, I have a blood cancer. Yeah. Okay. I have it. It's chronic. So I'm going to have it.
“That's why you have to keep getting chemo. Yeah. Okay.”
I also do it to treat my Lupus. Oh, it helps with that? Yeah. Can you get, I might be wrong with this. But like, it's very hard to have Lupus if you're white, correct? Yeah. It's like mostly like people come in American women. I like women. Yeah. That's what I thought.
And I'm half black. So that was the other thing too. I thought my doctors were like, that sucks. You look so white. Because we probably would have found these lots sooner. When I was like, I told you guys, you're like, yeah, we didn't really take it seriously. They're really considerate of the genes or the same brother.
McDonald's has a subdivision. I don't know if they call it a subdivision, but it's called the majority of it. And what this subdivision of McDonald's does is it pumps up averages that are so high and starting with the strawberry, watermelon for pressure. Well, I can't even speak because you're so excited that I'm going to let a pressure.
And when you have a little bit of caffeine, you can... You gotta look at this like a reset. Almost like a reward. Those little strawberries bounce in around. I mean, it's a way to get through that day for me. Honestly, you don't have to use this type of language.
I love it. It is way better than that. Honestly, it's a reason to hang with trial. All the new McAfee drinks. Now I'm a Donald's. Guys, we got to figure out our outdoor patio areas for nature-wise, and I think Wayfair would be a valuable player in that.
There are a lot of options. I think I sent you a few of you could just go through. Go on through it. Chuck, you might be buying me something I really could use in a nice cooler to put all of our...
I'm never going to buy you anything.
Why? Give more money to me. Get pre-precating up season for way less. Head to Wayfair.com right now to shop all things home. That's W-A-Y-F-A-R-O-D-O. Wayfair. Every style, every home.
You know, when you say that you stumble upon a theme, you stumble upon a theme. Yeah. Do you mean like a story vibe of like kind of... Or do you mean like a sonic vibe?
That's like... Oh, either. Okay. One or the other, and then eventually both. And does it like...
Is it like based on what you're going through in life at the time? Could be. Yeah.
“My life is way less dramatic than it was.”
Do you find that, like, as an artist, it's like harder to pull from the more mundane parts of your life? Or do you think it's just not even thinking about it? I don't know. I think so. I think it's interesting because I think that... I think as a society, we've gotten so used to receiving really mundane information.
Yeah. You know, like everyone loves like influencers and podcasts and YouTubers, where everyone's just kind of being like, "No, I did it, blah, blah, blah." Yeah. Yeah.
Like this shop.
This is hard-hitting.
This is an apparelism. That's right. Okay.
I am a product of my experiences.
And like, I'm so responsible. Like, if I didn't have my notes.
“So many jokes in my show wouldn't exist.”
Sure. Because I'm just so like, when something funny happens, I really do, I'm like, "Oh, my God, I have to write that down." It's like so specific. Yeah.
I don't like go out to gain material. I really, like, try to live life and then whatever happens. Yeah. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
But you're like, aren't you like a... You're like an artist and so many... Don't you like do so many different types of art? Be like, aren't you like a... Can't you draw really well?
Yeah, I paint. Yeah. Yeah, I'm definitely like a physical artist. Like a... But I like that I have that from myself though.
She's the best draw I've ever seen. She can... She could write now, draw you perfectly in seconds. You're put me on this spot? I used to do Benny Doodles when we were here.
It's crazy. She's drawn overalls for me that are like my prize possession. I've drawn overalls. So I... Like... I really...
You can draw a cane. No, listen, so...
It's kind of you give big eye control and...
I'm the worst drawer to the point where I had to like... I had to take an art course in college, so I was like... I was getting great grades and all the other things. And I was so bad at drawing that I was like... You couldn't grade me well.
Like I was going to fail the classes.
“The drawings were so bad and I couldn't really show improvement.”
So drawing is actually my biggest weakness now. I have... Just for relaxation purposes started to like paint and... Kind of an abstract way. That's great.
Right. I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't. And it's because with my art, sometimes I really... I mean all the time I'm like so analyzing everything.
Which is one of the antithesis of art of like... Yeah. Free flowing, let it... But with painting, I'm so bad that I really don't hold myself a kind of... And I'm just free flow.
When we did the... You... It was a prank. I'm in the person who... Oh, it is my art was a praised one.
Oh, but he said I was a feminist. I was a feminist. No. That one was great. You had one painting.
I was talking about American Farsi. Yes. You have one painting that's a stroke of genius. Everything else is terrible. I have three or four that are strokes of genius.
No, you have one. I can stroke genius every now and then. Okay, because stroke genius right now. I believe it. I believe that...
Do you have supplies? You can stroke genius. Can I... Attempt to strike genius as a painter? Yes.
And you doodle... Maybe Benny or Chris... Or he could all doodle in pain. I don't know why. Yeah, we should all doodle.
I'm terrible. I need a lot of time and quiet time and to focus. Go get the... Go get the staff. Okay, we'll go set it off.
Right, yeah. I doodle. It's like the one thing I objectively can't be like... She's incredible. She's alive.
She's alive. I mean it on, like, SNL or something. I'm so excited. You do it for her fun. Oh, wait, you said...
Yeah. What? Truly? Number one. Before I even knew who Benny was.
One of my favorite songs I've read. I think I was... She thought I was collegiate. She thought Benny was collegiate. That's why I didn't know honey.
I didn't know it. I just thought Benny was... We're all gonna go. Okay, I'm gonna have the production team bring out and set up the pants. So that's too much for one man.
Okay, okay. But before we paint... You just hold up from on the table? Yeah, we should have a white claw. I pulled it from the seat.
The reason that we should have this white claw first is because we're living in the moment.
And I know that something that white claw values and they value camaraderie in friendship.
“And I think us doing art as a team, even though I will probably stand out as an individual.”
Is something that is something to be cheers. Hey, since we're in the moment, you might grab in me and Kristen a few white claws. How about you share this one? Okay, and I'll make sure we get all set up with the art supplies. Okay.
Because I'm a really great artist. Oh my god, you're the f*ckest kiss. We've got a lot of shit. I think I'm gonna blow you out of the water. You don't understand my style is an opinion.
Oh my god. Oh my god. You guys! Draw me and it. Okay.
Well, we're the same person, so just draw me. You're aware she's gonna make something better than nothing under five minutes. Nothing could be better than what I'm gonna do. It's unbelievable. Yeah, I was gonna say you guys like being married.
Oh my god. Yeah. It helped. Oh. You guys go first.
I love it, but it feels no different than it was before. It feels no different for me, yeah. Yeah. But I do like that. It feels like you have family for life.
Oh. I've been engaged for two years. Oh, you have? Yes. Are you gonna get married?
Yes. We're gonna, we're just really fucking busy. You know? I'll talk to Ben. He's wedding and we were like, "Jesus Christ."
Oh. Because he's sort of wedding, he's supposed to be like, "We're doing everything wrong." I forgot. Why water them and sort of dunk the brush in? It depends.
Yeah. We're using acrylics. I don't know. What does it say in the bottle? acrylic paint.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I need a big brush in the water. I think there's more brush.
Oh yeah. Okay. You should do what I mean. You should do what I mean. That one in the corner, Chris.
Chris, is that me? Where? Here? Is that a Christmas tree?
I was just getting warmed up.
Okay. I'm trying to get my hand. Look at mine. Look.
Let's take my second to get situated guys.
Do it so light. I like the light. Wait till you see one. I might, I might wow you. I'm going to drop Benny.
I can't even tell you what I'm going to drop. It's my spirit's going to take over. Don't they say drawing a hand is the hardest thing. Or fingers, right? I don't know.
I don't know. You can explain to you how I am. That's what I paint. Yes. I have no idea what I'm doing.
If you said I draw a person, I can't do that impressively. All I can do is randomly do stuff. And sometimes in my randomness, I will all of a sudden see a person. And then once I see what the thing is that I'm painting without realizing what it is to begin with once I see it, it's about how fast can I get out.
You're already ahead of the curve. The longer I stay in, the more I can fuck it up. I did a lot of realism. Oh yeah. When I started painting, I started painting again after my son was born.
And I got like an art studio and I would go there when he was like a sleep at night.
And I would go on an art paint.
And I had a really hard time because so much of what I learned about art was about technique. And it was about proving how good you can be. Instead of proving like how emotionally meaningful. Yeah. So I had to really, it was really hard for me to unlearn.
Like nobody cares how well I can draw something in front of me and make it look like a picture. What? Someone will care. I care about that a lot. I just had to do a lot of unlearning in that regard because I was like,
It's very straightest student vibes. I wasn't like a cool artist who was like, look what I have to say. I was like, look how good I can do it. When did you know you could draw? Oh, when I was really little.
“Was that like your like number one thing for a long time until music?”
Or were you doing both of the same thing? Yeah, I know I thought I was going to be like an art major. Oh wow. Yeah. Under your on tumblr.
It's like, yeah, I was like, you know what? Will be the best career is being a painter. That will make me a lot of money. And then when I realized that that wasn't a real career option for me. It is for some people.
I was like, I should do something that's more financially responsible. Like try to be a pop star. Well, I can't believe you just that you just decided. I think I just created a really good color. And I'm going to.
I get performance anxiety where I've already taken. I've already gotten like four new pieces of paper. My. No, you can't. You can't mess up.
There's no mess up. I can't even draw a circle. I'm not even messing up. I'm just drawing. So I can just do abstract.
I don't know. It's impossible to mess up. It's art. Yeah. I'm not just making there.
There's no such thing as there. Yeah, but I try to infuse the green. I might have just ruined everything. Oh, don't worry. Check.
It's going to be good. Think I got to inject some pink. Oh, I got a good base here though. I got to tell you.
Well, I've never been in this shoe before.
This is a brand new scape. Are you just going to bring the new style? Man, this is a brand new scape for me. And it might be my sunset piece. He's been discovering the new style.
“This honestly reminded my career for the last 11 years.”
Drawing people is so uncomfortable because you're like staring at them. And they're like stop. I've been looking for him the same thing my whole life. Like I draw like ears the same way. Yeah.
Do you know what I just realized? What? This thing is upside down. That's okay. Oh, you're.
Oh, I see what you mean. You fit. You found that it was upside down. Wait a minute. No, that's not true.
Oh, maybe it. Is it perhaps maybe horizontal? No, it's just I'm still figuring it out. I'm still in the figure out process. I don't know.
How do you feel about it, Dave? Are you excited to ship to show it? No, I haven't started. I'm serious. Well, you better get started soon.
All I've been doing is laying a base. It's called activating the canvas. Ooh. Is that what it's called? Do you know what Finn Lynn?
There's a bread you can buy, and it's called juicy pussy. And that's the real bread. It's just a normal bread company. Fuck, are you talking about it? There's a normal bread company.
Is it just spelled something similar and you're just a child. Is it just childish? Just childish? Here you. You tell me what you think.
I'm combining. How would you pronounce this, Jack? I don't know. Chris, then. Just happy.
Just opposite. How would you pronounce this? Just opposite. Just opposite. Just opposite.
Just opposite. Just opposite. Just opposite. Yeah, just opposite. You don't know that it's not just opposite.
It's literally juicy pussy. Just opposite. I don't know. You don't know what they say. It's just called juicy pussy.
It's just beefest in the butt head. When you were the biggest, did you feel the worst, do you think?
“Like was there ever a time where you're like holy shit?”
This is sick. Yeah. No, I had times like that. Like, you mean, like, where you were able to be like,
I'm, this is what a cool experience.
Yeah, where I'd be like, this is dope.
And like, a younger me would have flipped the hell out. Yeah. You know, to see my life be this way. The coolest was probably. I made an album with Trent Rezner.
Oh, yeah. And I have like a, we were filming, like, the process. And we were filming when I had my, like, the initial zoom call with him, where we were talking about if we were going to do the record or not.
And he was very complimentary of me as like a songwriter. And that was kind of like a moment for me. Where I was like, cool. Yeah, that's cool. Nobody can ever make me feel like shit about myself.
Totally. Yeah. It's so true. I was just, I was a good songwriter. And we're going to make an album together.
Yeah. Get bucked. Is your read comments? Me? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I used to. I do sometimes still.
Because if you were to remove yourself from the internet and just look at all of your success, wouldn't you be like, man, I'm like a, yeah. I would definitely be like, I'm so dope. But it's just because you probably, yeah, get the internet will. They're, they have power.
Yeah. Can you give it to him? I can't tell anything, isn't it?
“I think we're also from a generation where, like,”
since we, we grew up on like the customer social media, like we didn't grew up with it all the time, like some of these younger kids have. Yeah. But we grew up where, like, it mattered with the kids from our, like, high school or college, or whatever we're saying on there.
Mm-hmm. But we have, like, a really weird relationship with it. We're like, we can't even know where we can. We're like, we can't even know where the way that they do. Yeah.
I mean, imagine being a kid today, like, a true kid. No. But they don't know. Yeah. I actually don't understand what that is.
Imagine us, like, uh, YouTube came out when I was, I was a senior in high school. Oh, really? 2006.
Oh, yeah. Check. How's your thing going? The imagery is dark, and it's about, it's about, I think it's about war. It's about war?
Well, that's relevant. I wish it wasn't so. Yeah. Maybe you're feeling internal stress about what's going on.
Maybe you'll become one of the most important, like,
political artists of our time. I hope not, because I don't know enough. Or maybe, like, when we're all dead. Yeah. But we'll, like, discover the art that you made.
Yeah.
“like biography that you were really important.”
- I'm scared to make any of you. - I'm scared to make any of you. - I'm so proud of the time. - Political commentary. I like the sound.
I wonder if anybody else does. - How can we switch paintings? - Me? - Well, I didn't love what I did in my last work, but-- - I liked your last one.
- Then you so much hair. - Are you getting good clothes to my? - I think so. - You think Dave's getting close? - It is master's probably. - It's probably edging.
- Are you edging Jack? - It's a war zone. - Looks like a blood death. - Is that a lot of red? - No, it's not what you expect
but it's definitely about war. - War. - American war in the state of our world, yeah. - It's dark, but it's light at the same time. There's some hope.
- There's optimism within it. - Kind of, but it's a tragedy of a piece. - What do you want to call it? - I think it's called American war. - Is it a companion piece to American farce?
- It might be. - It actually might be. - Are you disappointed? - No, it's just, it's a lot to take in. It's jarring.
It's like I didn't think that this is what it would be at all. - You seem like you like it though. - I mean, like, you can't help it both be shocked by it and all of it, I think. I don't like that I like it.
I think that's the thing. - You think you're gonna like mine? - I think I will like yours. I think I like everyone's. - You guys think you're like mine?
I don't think you're like mine,
“but I think you'll see that there is talent deep deep within.”
- I see yours, I like yours. Is that a cockroach? - My guy kind of looks like two-pock. - Who are you drawing? - I was just like drawing.
- Whatever, hand to your hat. - I was drawing Chris. - Sorry, sir, it's saying it looks like two-pock. I was like, who the fuck here? - I'm drawing Chris.
- I can't believe Dave said mine looks like a cockroach. - Chuck, don't make a decision like that. - Yeah, the part of art is having the control to believe in yourself and knowing when to stop. - Don't do it.
- Knowing when to stop and trusting that you're done. - I'm trusting that it's time to put it out. - Now it's done. - You guys, I've been using Canva, you know, Canva? - Oh yeah.
- I've been taking pictures of places in our house then I ask it to, I prompt it and I say, can you redesign the space for me? I have a lot to show the two of you. - Oh really, like, what part of the home?
- Well, our bedroom. - Oh. - And the other upstairs studio. - And the downstairs. I think we could do something different
with the shelves. - So you, so Canva, you is telling you options, I guess. - It's helping us. - It's on your prices. - Not yet.
- Canva makes design easy for anyone. With built-in AI, let's see, remove, generate,
Animate content and just click.

“- Remember that one time when we hung out”
and then we never stopped hanging out
for 15 years in a row, we really grabbed life by the claw. - Why am I in that group chat? - No, but you're in it now. You're our new, say yes.
- Say yes. - Say yes. - And for the rest of our life. - Well, so yes. Yes.
- Guys, you know, I will tell you, there's nothing better than spontaneous hangs with white claw. I've got a little, I'm having some issues. - Please, you're responsible.
- I'm our shelter with flavors. White claw, white claw, shelter works. - Okay, should we call it a little bit? - Okay, you ready, ready, ready? - Yes.
- Please, you're responsible. It's hard shelter with flavors. White claw, shelter works. - Should we call it a little bit? - No, I say yes.
Okay, where are you at? - Oh, are we done? Are we done, now you? - No, keep calling. - I can't wait to see the--
- I can't wait to see the-- - Who's going first? - Not me or I'll go first. - Okay, I'll go first. - Okay, because Dave and I said
that it looked like a couple of your paintings.
- Now pretend that, but here's what I want you
to pretend before I show it. - Pretend that I have made money off of making art and pretend that people love my art. - Okay. - You understand.
- And like this is like, she's done another one. - Yep. - Okay, ready. - Oh, wow. - The Roach.
- I really like the point of view. - Is it a penguin? - You know what's crazy about it is? I've drawn the same things since I've been five. - That, you've drawn that.
- I've drew trees and the face that looks like this. - That's crazy. - Is it good? - You've drawn that multiple times. - That one disturbs me.
- Yeah, I think I might have sent you your therapist if you were my kid. - Yeah. - That's great. Oh, okay. - That's more to start.
- That's worse. - It's a heart. - I don't like that one. - That's like, that's a craze chimp. - Here's the dolly, you like, yeah.
- No, that's my least favorite. - All right. - Wanna show yours hot shot? - Well, I wouldn't say mine was great. - Wanna see what you got, big boy?
- I see what you got, sick guy. - Hey Chuck, pretty painting huh. Friends isn't taking. - Tricky. - Who's that supposed to be?
- I don't know it. It was just a man. - I'm surprised. - That was a lot. - That is a lot better than I thought
you'd be able to. - I'd say. - That is good. - Yeah. - I'm surprised you'd be able to do something
that good. - I'm almost upset. - Why? - Can I see it again? - I thought they'd run away.
- I like that a lot. - That's incredible. I'm shocked that you can do that. - Can I? - I like the details and the items.
- I hate it. - I hate it. - I think you ruined the dialogue. Like, if you did the wrote the perfect thing there, I would have, you know.
- Okay, ask us a year of turn. - Are those Dave's turn first? - I think once you see mine, you're not gonna want to do much of anything else. - That's fine, let's do it.
“- I can go next if you want to go there.”
- I'm just depressing. It's about, let's go. - We'll keep, we'll keep.
- I know you're gonna be incredible.
- I can tell. - Oh my god. - It's Benny. - I'm shocked. - I did not think that's what I was gonna do.
- I didn't. - That's cool. - I like it. - It's beautiful. - I'm not anything.
- Probably, look at that. Looks like a fucking. - Will you draw a fast, will you draw a fast-doodle of Kristen just to fast-doodle? - Are you gonna be a good sport about it?
- Yeah, I'm a good sport. - Just like a fast-doodle. - Wait, can I look at this? This is the best thing I've ever seen in my life. I mean, this is, this is the world know
that you can do this. They don't care. - She did it literally on SNL while singing. - Nobody cares. - You know, I'm gonna, don't, don't look at this.
I have to set it off and then you go again. - No one else. I'm gonna look when no one else. - No, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't. - We're not looking.
- Just look towards David. - David, you don't know. - Yeah, I'm almost done, don't look, don't look. - Okay. - Don't look at this.
- Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on, we have to wait. - Yeah, you guys can look. - Wow. - It doesn't feel depressing at all. - No, no, no.
- No, no, no. - No, I think it feels good. - It feels good. - I feel really just another day and now. - That's really good.
- Good day. - It's really nice. It's like, it's very floral. It's giving like water lilies. - We're really, really like those colors over there, it's just,
- This is horrible, yeah, it's a plant attack. Those are the fighter jets. - Okay, okay. - I just don't like the splatter part. - No, I love the splatter.
- Who wants, I don't know. - I like how the splatter matches the A. - The texture is great. - USA.
“- The blush is a different color because what is it?”
- Just to happen, stance. - Okay. - For sure. - I actually really like those. - I thought, you could pick a color with it.
- I didn't remember it. - Only if you can have this. - Can I have this? - Yeah. - That's me.
- Well put it on the wall. I just think I'm gonna drop you to stand still - Okay. - Okay, okay. - That's right.
- No, hold on, stop. - No. - Can I do want me to cut around the dude, the stuff, right? - Uh, whoa, you don't check, what are you doing? Just leave it, I like it, just how it is.
I like the idea that we were gonna add it up and we chose not to let go of it.
- No, no, no, no.
- Okay, okay.
“- No, but I can cut off this part, right?”
- Wow. - This wasn't.
- I'll leave it folded, just to just leave it.
Just put it in the thing, leave it. - You like it? - I actually take it with you and frame it. - So much. - Take it care of it.
- Bring it back to me framed. - No, check it out. - Bring it back to me framed. - Actually, keep it on the clipboard and frame the clipboard. Okay, bring it back framed.
Thank you, check. Have you ever signed the National Anthem? - Fuck no. - Oh. I don't know that kind of voice.
Can you just sing it like if we were like,
“I'm not saying that you have to do this.”
But if we were just like, yeah, sing the National Anthem, you would just be able to sing it and you would feel good about it and everybody would be like, this was like, she did it. - No.
- No, I don't think you have to, oh, no, no way. - She invented the style of saying that was so characteristic that it became like a meme and everyone in the world started pretending to sing like her.
- Yeah, and then I got made fun of for it. - No, really? - Yeah, everybody else was eating my, eating off my fucking plate.
'Cause you were the first to do it.
I think there was a couple years where like, if you put on the radio, I would go. - Is that me? - Yes, that one's not me. - When I record with Benny, I call it baby voice.
- What's that man? - It's, I like her baby voice, my favorite. - It's like the more like high pitched, like sassy. - Like all the songs we did, like East Side, they all have baby voice.
- Baby voice, yeah. - What was your big, uh, without me? - Yes, yeah. - Was that something baby voice? - I think there's a little bit of baby voice on it.
- Yeah, that's a little bit of baby voice. - Powered, like, like, nine years not baby voice, it's a different. - But you also kind of, like, East Side, don't you have, like, kind of like a, kind of like a rapper's cadence almost in the way.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah. - You know, it's funny.
“That's why I love doing songs that Ed starts so much.”
- Oh, yeah. - Oh, yeah. - You remember that I really, - But you also do rappers cadence a lot. - Where's he saying?
- Because we write so similar really. It's like syncopated, it's crazy. - She's so lyrical, like the lyrics come to her, like, - What's rappers cadence? It just means, like, instead of being like,
It's like rhythm. It's like that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that more syllables than, you know, yeah. I don't even think, I don't even think you remember, like, how many songs of hers that you know. Oh, my God. Oh, do you need an app, can you? No, I'll watch my hands and... It does. You get a lot of the pen or the pen. Oh, wow. It's just a little cute. You haven't read the pen. Oh, wow. Let me see.
It's like a brass doll. Oh, oh. Oh, my God. I love it. You can do that. You can do that. Oh, my God. You have to stay all day. I'm sorry. And I... What's your favorite of your own songs ever? I think Nightmare is one.
Because this is your unique song. I've never heard another song that sounds like that ever. Like, it's such a unique song.
I play it every night. I've never, I haven't done a show since that song came out where I don't play that song. We made, we made houses. We went on tour together. Oh, a whole much music. Really? Yeah, we went on tour. Are they like jumping around at your shows and getting out? Yeah, they're like losing their music. It's like... Oh, like a rock show. Like, it is now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's like... It's like not going to happen. No, it looks great. It's like a Travis Scott. Yeah. And then they're forming a psychopath. People come in the shows and they're like, I know that song. And they get out there. I'm like, like, screaming and jumping around the fire.
Like, fire. Like, what the fuck? It's fun. Have you ever gotten hit by like a pyro-technic? Like, with a blow at the point of time, I was on stage like a blown in the face and I was jarring. I have a few times, yeah. Nothing like, like, I was injured. But only a few times where I've been like that could have been horrible. Yeah, like a few. I had a really scary experience once. I was in Turkey. I was in Istanbul and I was going to do a show. And there was like a 2,000 pound dress that was like broken on top of the stage. And they were trying to decide if they're going to let me go out or not.
It was like hanging. Oh my god. Oh my god. This is... Am I going to die? Yeah. This was before him? I did. Yeah. Everything was okay. Were you on edge of the whole time? I was. I wouldn't go out and let's say no... That someone could tell me for sure that it was safe. But they weren't sure for like an hour. And then finally they like got it into place. It was like good or whatever. I am a mess right now. I have a question about making music. Before you make an album, do you think, like, oh, like,
because are you gearing up to make an album? Yes and no. Yeah, I am. I'm like, I'm getting ready to go. I like to go... Okay, this is so stupid. I usually like to go away for like a little bit and just write stuff. So you're not necessarily music, but I have to go, like, I have to go play like pretend for a little. I like that. Like you can change your mind. Yeah, I have to become someone for like a little bit. Like a little bit of expression. Yeah. I have to go live a different life for a little bit.
Get out of your own. I don't think for a while. I'm like, touch to something. Yeah. Yeah, like, I'll go, like, I'll be like, okay, I'm going to go get an Airbnb in like Japan and like go to this little market and like hang out with the kids in the park and like cook and I'm like, I'm someone else. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- And then I kind of see the world through that perspective, or like I'll be like, you know, I'm gonna go live in a cabin in the forest.
- And when you're doing it,
so you're writing phrases and whatnot, is there even music involved, or you just write the words and then like later, the music comes and you remember the few phrases.
- I pretty much always write the words first.
- Interesting. - Yeah, and like because I'm really, like, wordy percussive, I think the music sort of like reveals itself. Like, there's certain cadences that the rhymes are like the words have to fit in,
and so that really helps with interest. - The melodies are just kind of already there, you know what I mean? - I've never written any lyrics without the beat. - Really? - Ever, yeah.
- No, 'cause my own, I'm so trying to make, like the best version of itself, it's just probably my flaws in artists, and I'm always trying to like... - Does the beat have to be like almost printable?
Or do you just need like a bass? - I know, I want the beat because, you know, how like beats have like different turns, and like, I want to like optimize every moment and be like,
“this is the best way that I can go from this.”
- Yeah, yeah. - And then it's kind of my downfalls in artists, because I'm trying to optimize every moment and it's like the raw. - And your trap to that container of the song.
- Yeah. - I used to make Benny pull up all his like rapper beats. - Yeah. - He's like sit down and when we first started working, like he'd be like, all right, cool, I have these like,
you know, starts, these like pops on starts, and I'd be like, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Like, if you're going to get me the folder that you saved the juice world. - Yeah, yeah, 100% and then I'd write,
and then we'd have to like, derapify them, 'cause I was sort of like weird. - Do you like working with Benny? - I love working with Benny. Benny's also, we're like the most efficient people ever.
We can get like three songs done in a day. - Yeah, he's, I feel like one of your strengths is that you don't waste time, you know, you pretty much know what's good and what's not, you know, really once you, you don't waste time.
I would never bring anything to the table that's not worthy.
- Or let it go down a path that goes, yeah, yeah, I rather just quit. - Can you really, - Yeah, I know, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm like, let's try something else. - Yeah, no, but I was the most, they like, nah, okay, I try.
- For sure. - The idea is so quick. - You can't be like thin skin, I think. - I've gotten this far just by trusting my gut. So if I feel something, the doesn't feel right. - Yeah. - It's like, I'm not really that good at anything.
I just think I have pretty good instincts. - Looks good. - Yeah, I think I have a good gut. - Your instincts are right, 100% at the time.
“- No, but I think the right or the nerve.”
- You're the thoughts out there that might be forgotten. - I'm sure. - I'm sure. - I think that you actually, I don't actually don't agree with you fully. I think there's things you're objectively very talented at
that you have a lot that you bring to the table, but I would say your best skill set is that you are an excellent curator. You can curate friends, artworks, and curia design, and outfit, a song, a sound.
You understand all the different parts of a thing that have to come together to make it its best. - Yeah. - And it's most unique experience.
- There's never a time where I feel like you would say
something was a big song, and it wouldn't be. Or I've been wrong of some time. - Degrees of big, like the song. - But you should be under control. Usually if you're wrong about that,
it's because of something weird that happened with the market, or the way it was released, or like the label promoted it, or whatever. - That was an aspect. - That was an aspect. - You know, do you think you're always people
to just guarantee big songs? - I think what I know is I think I know what people want, what people want, like I think if women want.
“If there's a full, I think if there's a full,”
I think if we have this thing right here, I think I'll know what clips to make of this thing that will make people want to watch it. - I don't have that skill set. - What's a lot of artists don't.
- No, I don't have art skills. - Do you know, like, when you make a song, I know you know, and you love it, but do you? Do you also, like, I think this could be a big song, you have those thoughts?
- I think so, yeah. And I've also learned to listen to myself in that regard, 'cause I've had other people butt on records, and I've been like, "No, it's this one." And also, like, I think the perspective
of always proves victorious in the end, or it's like, you know. - It's not a belief in yourself, yeah. - I think that's a hard thing is an artist to be able to like hone in and trust your instinct.
- There's so many artists pick the wrong song. - Yeah, but it's also because you're, you're putting yourself on such, like, you're putting yourself out there, so at the same time, to have the self-belief,
to be like, "I'm gonna trust my instinct." - While you're also being so vulnerable, is a, that's how you become. - So no, because that's you close to it. - That's the other thing.
You could be too afraid or too, like, you need to know when, also, to take the opinions of others who are able to see you in a way that's like unbiased. And like, you also need to be able to be really honest
with yourself, you know? Like, I know that there's a version of me that I think I am, and then there's the reality of the way that the zeitgeist or the audience or culture interacts with me.
And like, I'm a product of like every artistic experience I've ever had, but most people perceive me based on the entry point of how they met me. So like, if they heard closer for the first time, and that's when they decided their opinion of me
to like, she's this type of artist, you know? So it's like, I noticed how my show's a lot 'cause you get so many different types of people in the room.
There's like dudes in there that are like,
"I love nine inch nails and this girl fucks."
It's like, you rip, she made this rock album, that's awesome. And then there's some girls in there that were like, we loved her in college, she makes pop music, that we love. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Everything's different perspectives. So I need to know like, when I'm like, okay, I'm a, I'm a perceiving myself as like a product of all those things. And I need to know when someone is going to,
their interaction or entry point to me is different than that.
“And that's what's helpful about having someone like Benny,”
who can we have talked about this for years? - Yeah, what do you think the pop-up perception of you is? - I think people think I'm really intense. Like really like political and opinionated in like intense. And I'm really a very chill person.
- Yeah, yeah. - Do you feel like that gets in your way? Like, what if you just like didn't ever go online again
and you just never went online?
- I don't really, 'cause I don't really right now. I think that they've, because of, I was 19. - Yeah. - I thought everything was my responsibility, you know? I thought that my job was to fix comment on care
about speak up for advocate for. - Yeah, which is a good speech. - Yeah, oh, it was so lonely, it was so lonely. - I wish I could. - It was so lonely, it was so lonely.
- It's a shame that the world beat you down to think where that was annoying. - Yeah, you know, sometimes you get it wrong a couple times so that's the problem. It's like, you know, it's like the idea
of like when you, what is it when you speak for everything, you stand for nothing or anything, you know? Where it's like, I did get it wrong a couple times 'cause I was really young and like, you know, it was growing up in front of the entire world.
But also like, I, yeah, I was just young. I was just young, I was just like, they didn't do this day. There's like videos that go around and people are like, oh my God, they did it.
I'm like, I was 20 in that video. I'm 31 right now, you know what I mean? Like everybody has to grow and change and, you know, also not for nothing, like not to get really, not to prove everybody's point about why I was annoying.
“Right now, but like, my life is so different”
than it was back then, like the socioeconomic background that I'd come from, like the amount of just like panic, anxiety, the lack of financial security, the lack of safety, like that I had at that time that I was still, I was still in fight or flight
from my life before. I'm just like, I'm more chill now. Of course, I was panicking all the time. I was like, you know, I support my mom, I support my dad, I support my brothers,
support my grandmother, like if I buck this up and this goes the wrong way, everybody's lives different. I got to get this right and that was, those were stakes that some of most of my peers didn't have. Yeah, I think everybody is really attached to like,
and also because those moments for me make the most noise. Yeah. So I could do literally nothing for a year and like, lay low and then if I do one thing that becomes like,
hold the claps back at the meeting for about then that becomes the thing for the next year, you know what I mean? So it's like, I think I'm really, I'm pretty, I'm a pretty chill person, but people generally assume that I take myself
way more seriously than I do. So that's where it becomes a problem for me because everyone's all make a joke or like, I'll do something that's like meant to be like light-hearted, and then the immediate assumption is that I'm being really
serious or what you're really serious. Even if I'm not saying who are, but what's the big deal if you take yourself seriously? But if I'm not, then it sucks because I don't necessarily want that being translated
as like my main cause. - Fandual. - Finals, it's already that time. - It's that time. - It's that time, it's a exciting time for a lot of sports fans.

“- I think sometimes when you're deep in with your family”
and your friends, it's hard to see always
the other person's opinion. Like, for me, when I'm in therapy, sometimes I get checked by my therapist and they're giving me an unbiased opinion of the situation and what's going on.

- There's a quote that I think you'll really love that I saw the other day.
“There is no way to make art or make material”
that challenges people and be liked by everyone. And the more time you spend trying to appease others into a void confrontation or a void conflict, it's like every single time you do that, you pull a thread from your work in order to do so,
and then you're left with a piece that's completely unraveled by the end.
And you've given those threads away so you can never,
you can never put it back with the integrity of where you started. And if they get especially in what you do, like you have a whole other layer to the kind of art that you make because comedy is a factor. And comedy is challenging, and it's disruptive,
and it's provocative, and it's controversial, and that's the nature of it. It's supposed to make people feel that way. And I would not survive that at all. I just simply wouldn't survive that.
But I feel like it's hard enough having to have a point of view about what I do, and wanting it to be cool, or sexy, or emotional, or meaningful, or to perform well. If I had to add the layer of comedy onto it, and I had to worry about navigating that,
that's got to be really, you have to, I just can't imagine how I could argue that it makes it easier. I could argue that, yeah, kind of like it allows for things to be softened, and you can say something without, like I wrote a song the other day that was like,
it was called, I'm worried, and it was about worries, and then it was also like, every now and then, I would sprinkle in things about the state of the world that would prove that I would feel kind of lame. - Yeah. - And also you're worried that the breeze,
say, if you have a coffee shop, like if I can't really dislike you, and I'm worried, yeah, for sure. - But I just think-- - I'm worried on that,
we're finished. - Basically, if I made a song,
it was really about like, that was trying to be political, and be like, I'm worried about everything that's going on in the world. I would have so much more trouble doing that. - I've heard a song in the song where I get to like, be like, say that, and then the next line is like,
I'm worried that I'm gonna want to fuck the robot, like, in 10 years when the world-- - For sure. - And then I get to make that joke, but I guess I don't even think you're worried that you want to fuck the world.
- I'm worried that I want the robot to fuck me. - Are you scared to be sincere? Like, are you not sincere? - No, I'm scared to be serious. - You're scared to be serious. - You're scared to be serious.
“- I think in music, I have more fear of being serious,”
and then I do like on film.
- You know what I mean? - I see other mediums though. - You just said you want the robot to fuck you-- - 'Cause I'm also wrapping, it's like, it's hard for me to take myself seriously. - You just go and over that line, you said you where you wanted a robot. - Look, I just think we're at a place in the world where it's like, will we get fucked by the robots?
Or, no, are we gonna fuck the robots? Or are the robots gonna fuck us? - I know I feel the same way, like I think I could sit here right now, and I could be like, you know, like, you could be like, like, earlier like you'd be like,
"Well, you're having fun when you had like the number one song, like, no, I fucking hated my life because I'm joking." - Yeah. - And then I'd say, "Hi, hi, and you can see me in person." I mean, no, I fucking hated my life now, it's cool. And then the quote is like, "Holy hated her life."
- That's the problem. - They're in a culture, like they can take, like, that can be, like, little dicky, jokes about war. It makes painting about the jokes of war. - Yeah, yeah. - But that's the, I think that's the downfall of, like, human connection. Because so much of it is like not any of that. Like being around you, it's like, even when you said that thing over there, I wasn't--
- It wasn't a joke. - Yeah, it wasn't a joke. - No, it was sound and print, and I'd be like, "Oh, wow." But in real life, I was like, "Yeah, she's relatable." - She didn't experience life, I was like, "I love you." - I would so much rather people dislike me, and you're being ill.
- Because there's a lawnmower. - So I got to know there's someone come to text us, change on me. - No, I'd rather people dislike me for being myself than to miss out on, like, so many years of my life being who I am, because I was worried that they weren't going to like me, because they're not going to anyway.
“- Social media and the internet, it's such a presence of, like, admire me, look at me, and it, like, real life is really, like, let me connect with you.”
- Sure. - And, because everything is translated to internet culture, we lose the, like, sweetness of just being yourself and being able to say whatever you want. - Yeah. - Connecting enough judging people. - Because if we perceive people who accept them as we are, as they are, we-- - Or maybe we don't, but we, - Last year we received people and we experienced people, we don't judge or categorize people in real life. - Yeah, there's more room for nuanced, I think. - Totally. - I mean, look, even though I went to a party through when you didn't even live in the house, I feel like, obviously,
I feel like today having spent this time with you, I can't even wrap my head around how anyone could ever perceive you as annoying. - It's like, I used to be really annoying. - Oh. - I did. - I got to take a shit. - All right, thank you so much for having me.
- We love you.
- Thank you for having me. - Thank you for having me.
