- I'm a cosmetic surgeon.
I'm also board certified in Obesity Medicine.
So that's why I combine weight loss with aesthetic cosmetic surgery, taking someone from maybe broken or not confident to feeling really good
“and seeing a new version of the cells that I love.”
- Dr. Candice Kickler is an innovative, compassionate cosmetic surgeon, obesity medicine physician, and the founder of Slim Inc. Drawing from her expertise in aesthetic medicine and wellness, she helps patients achieve lasting transformation
while redefining beauty through confidence and personalized care. - I can find that the procedures I do to be so motivating. And it's all customizable.
That's why in my practice, I treat every person as an individual. I know what's safe, what actually works, and those are the things that I educate my patients on. You struggle in the gym, you're working hard,
you're in clean, but you still have this little pudgy area. I can take that away. And what's crazy that you probably don't know is that I can do a lot of that awake. (upbeat music)
- It spans the globe, like a super high school, internet Elvis, ready to come here. Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone. - It's our home app, I'm telling how we're... - The living your legacy podcast
for those who live to leave a legacy. (upbeat music) - I hope I was the way you said, "Oh, in the boxes, not on the ground." - You can live your dreams.
- Hey, welcome back everyone to another episode of Living Your Legacy Podcast. We're here in the new Miami Beach Studios. On a perfect day, I mean, we have a great guest, not so far up north from West Palm Beach, right?
- Yes. - Introduce yourself. What's the name where we know where you're from? And what do you do? - So I'm Dr. Candice Kickler.
I'm the owner and founder of Slim Ink. It's a cosmetic surgery, weight loss, and aesthetic practice in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“- All right, so Dr., what kind of doctor, did you practice?”
- Amazing question. So I actually was formally trained as a general surgeon, then bariatric surgeon, and I went back to do a second fellowship, and so I'm a cosmetic surgeon.
I'm also board certified and obesity medicine. So that's why I combine weight loss with aesthetic cosmetic surgery. And I really just love helping people to look good and feel good.
- Yeah, I get the confidence up, right? - Totally. - Sometimes it's just a little, I guess, nip tuck, as I say, right? - I love that term.
- Yeah. - Yeah, I've been kind of watching a lot of the TV show botched, all right? - Okay, yes. So we wanna stay away from surgeons who will make you watch.
- Yes, but what they do is amazing on the show.
I made a little, they're two talented dudes, but sometimes it happens where people get botched, and those guys, they take that story, and then they flip the script on it,
“and you know how I'm walking away great.”
- Yeah, I agree. A lot of the transformations that those surgeons perform, that I perform are really remarkable, and that journey is also what's really cool. It's like taking someone from maybe broken,
or not confident to feeling really good and seeing a new version of the self that I love. - Yeah, and how long do you do that for? - So I've been in practice, my private practice for just about a year,
but I've been as surgeons since 2018. So done a lot of nipping and tucking through the years. - And do you have a specialty? - I really focus on the body. So I do a lot of liposuction, contouring.
- Yeah. - Especially here in Miami Beach, a lot of people have had liposuction. - Of course. - You may or may not have seen it,
but the best surgeons do liposuction where you don't know that they've had it done, but they just look better. - Yeah. - So that's what I focus on.
Body contouring, mommy makeovers, you know, anything that can help you to feel really good in your clothing and your swimsuit, whatever it may be. - Yeah. And sometimes it just takes that little, you know,
I guess cheating per se, to get you back on track and feeling good and get you into the fitness. It's almost like little like push to start. - I can find that the procedures I do to be so motivating, you know,
you struggle in the gym, you're working hard, you're eating clean, but you still have this little pudgy area. I can take that away. And what's crazy that you probably don't know
is that I can do a lot of that awake. So you don't even have to have anesthesia, like you used to, where you'd be out and down, and you know, word about not waking up to see your kids, none of that's really a factor anymore.
And we can do procedures awake, comfortable, you literally can go back to work the next day, but get rid of those trouble spots that are annoying and just, you know, sometimes genetic, sometimes lifestyle related,
but there's the solution.
- Yeah, well, that sounds amazing.
- Right, would you ever have awake surgery? - I don't know, I saw the movie,
I think it was called a wake, right?
Who's a guy that played,
was Darth Vader on Star Wars?
- Yes. - But anyways, he was Jaden, right? Or what's his name? I forget his name. - Yeah, I mean.
- But there was that one movie where he was awake during the surgery
“and he started having all these, I don't know,”
maybe we should have talked about that later. - This is much better. - Yeah, maybe it is better to be awake because then you don't have to go through why he went there, right?
- Totally. And I find that people are actually really happy to be doing the procedures. Because you know, most of the time, they're investing in themselves.
This is a decision that they've made to kind of push themselves to the next level. So they're excited to do the procedure.
And doing it awake, it's kind of like freeing
like you're part of the process. I'll ask my patients to turn on their sidetrack and really sculpt out their waste, things like that. And it's fun, it's really fun. - Yeah, and so it could be on the other side
where you said, okay, you know, you're eating right, you're exercising, but you've got that one stubborn area but on the other spectrum, maybe you're not eating right? You get that little liposection
that contouring and then afterwards you're looking great, you're feeling great and emotivates you to start living that healthy life because it's like, oh, I just spent a dynamic amount of money, right?
- Well, I ain't going back to that, but yeah, just looking at yourself in the mirror getting those jeans that fit you again and just getting that confidence boost, right? That energy and you're just like,
you know, I don't want to go back to that, you know?
So it took a lot of work to get the money
to pay for that 'cause they've been looking forward to it
“and they're just like, yeah, that's what it took me”
to get living healthy and doing it right. - 100%, I find that so many of the people who invests in themselves in this way are much more likely to stick with, you know, the gym routine or the healthy eating after the fat.
- Yeah. - Versus, you know, constantly staring at yourself and seeing that imperfection once we make that better and that's out of the picture, then it's like, full steam ahead, be the best version of you.
- So a lot of people think women with this, right? Do you get a lot of men coming there? - So I do a lot of women because I'm a woman's agent, you know, they gravitate towards me, but I do have male patients.
And getting rid of that, dad bought, getting rid of that beer belly, those are the most common things I see. Men tend to form what they call a tire around their waistline and it's so stubborn, it's so hard to get rid of.
Like, I'll have guys who run miles and miles a day, sweat, eat clean, but still have that little area. So yeah, they are candidates too. - Yeah. - It's a tool, it's not a cheat.
Like sometimes you just truly can't get rid of the tool. - It's not a cheat, where you go, that's, there you go, people, you know? Honestly, use those tools, right? And then if it takes that to, you know,
get to what we were just talking about, it is a tool. - Yeah, and I combine that tool with other tools. You know, I really, in my practice, we talk about peptides. You know, we talk about other lesson-vasive things.
- Well, that's all I was getting into. I was gonna ask you about, there's this whole trend of loop-maxing, right? Loots-maxing, right? And--
- I haven't heard this. - What looks maxing? - Come on, you haven't heard it. - Okay, I need to use that, Melanie. (laughing)
Are you serious? - Yeah. - Oh, wow, okay, this is whole huge trend on it. And, you know, some of it's good because, you know, it's getting some of these things that you just talked about
out into the open, and so the social media world.
“But then, like, they take it to the extreme, right?”
And this is one guy, his name's Clavicle, right? Who kind of started the whole thing. And he started kind of like chipping his bones structure with like a hammer, right? - Oh my God.
- Yeah, he started taking like full-blown testosterone at like 16 or something like that. - Yeah. - So, there's like these extremes. But then, you know, in the center of the spectrum, right?
The sweet spot, you know, people are starting to, you know, get to know the things that you are talking about, right? So, tell us about that, like the good stuff that's out there that they could, that's non-invasive that they can do. - Exactly, so even little things like maybe starting
a peptide to help reduce your inflammation or to help to regulate your metabolism and your appetite. That can get you to a certain level. You may still have a separate spot, but it might be so much better
that you don't feel like you need a procedure. - Yeah. - There are injectable things that we're doing today in the face, and in certain parts of the body that are more rejuvenating, then filling augmenting.
Like, fillers get a bad rap, that's also part of my practice. But there's PDGF, platelet drives growth factor. There's stem cells. There are different things that we can use that can kind of like almost trick your body into healing itself.
That's the same thing with peptides. We're augmenting something that's already there to reduce inflammation and heal from within. - Yeah. - That combined with some aesthetic treatments
from here or there can give you an overall great look
Without going overboard and looks maxing.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
“- Honestly, it's about staying in that sweet spot, right?”
Knowing what works for you, knowing what's worse with your diet, your routine, I mean, there's so many things. - Right, and it's all customizable. That's why in my practice, I treat every person as an individual because, yeah,
some people don't want to inject a peptide into the body.
Some people never want to have a procedure
or never want to do Botox. Like, there's no pressure. I'm just there to educate and provide you with all the options. Like, okay, you feel and look like A, but maybe you want to get to D or F or Z.
- More like I feel like F and I want to get to A. - There you go, whichever direction we take it, but I just know a lot of the tools, I know what's safe, what actually works and those are the things that I educate my patients on.
- All right, and so the plastic surgery, the cosmetic surgery is one factor of your business. So then you were saying, what's the other part? - I do peptides and wellness, so that's kind of the weight loss aspect.
- Gotcha. - I'm board certified in obesity medicine, as well as the surgeries. So I work with GLP ones, I work with other medications that have been around for years and years
to help people to get rid of those extra 10 to 15 pounds. - Explain to them what's GLP ones? - So GLP one is a general term that we've now used to describe the different medications or peptides that can help your body to lose weight.
So there's actually several different classes and the newer ones target more than just GLP one. GLP one is a certain receptor, a certain hormone that's targeted with semi-glutide or ozempic.
That was the famous one, that first came out
that everybody was taking. Now we have others that target more hormones and more receptors, like turns up a tide, red a true tide, and depending on your body, anatomy, chemistry, side effects, things like that,
one may work better than the other, and really figuring out that recipe for your body is what can get you to the next level. - And how do you do that? Once when a client comes in the room,
they tell you kind of what their goals are and then how do you kind of take that
“into prescribing what you think the proper treatment is?”
- Yeah, so I really, I'm a less is more person in terms of I don't want people to feel overwhelmed or over-medicated. So a lot of times we'll talk about their goals, you know, if they've got big goals,
maybe we start with a bigger medication
or one that targets more receptors.
Versus if they only have a few pounds to lose but they're struggling with inflammation or hormonal imbalancing, then we start with something lighter and maybe we do what's called micro dosing. So it's not even the full dose, just a little bit,
maybe a little less frequently to help you to get where you wanna be without that rigid structure of every week, this dose, these associated side effects. You know, we're really mastering the art of these peptides now, fortunately,
because it's been years of us working with them. So that's the way to be all in trend right now, every, you know, a lot of people in social media, the chatter, talking about peptides a lot. - Totally and unfortunately I agree with you
that it's very, quote unquote trendy, but at the same time, these are medications, they're real, you know, products. And I don't think they're gonna fall out of trend because of how impactful they are on our health.
So while they're trendy today and some people of course will stop taking them because it can be annoying to inject yourself. There are some that are gonna stand the test of time. BPC 157 is one of those.
It's reducing inflammation. It's helping people to heal and not require surgery in certain cases like these. - I need to brand that better. - They do, right?
- BCP 157, I don't know who's remembering that. - So it stands for body protection compound, but nobody wants to say that either. So we're stuck with BPC 157. - But yeah.
- How do you pro-com? (laughs) - I don't know, there you go, people. - Yeah, exactly. They should hire you from marketing.
- Yeah.
“Well, I asked everyone, what are you most excited about these days?”
- So, you know, I'm truly most excited about my business growing me being able to educate people on the ability of doing awake procedures. We can do so many things with little downtime and just educating clients and new clients
and getting to know people. That's what I'm excited about. - Yeah, you gotta, I hope you got good testimonials on your website of actually awake about the awake procedures, right?
- And I thought it done myself. - Okay, there you go. - You can do it. - Yeah. Yeah, you're all talking about that tire
and so I just need that. I just need that tool set, you know? - Hook me up, all right, on then how do people find you? - So, you can find me easiest on Instagram at Slimming Surgeon.
So, Slimming-- - You got that, you know, that branding down or a hangover. - Branding, exactly. - Branding, exactly.
My website is slim.
So, Slim, Inc is my practice.
- Okay. - And I'm on other channels too, but those are the easiest to find me.
“- All right, Slimming with the C, not a K.”
- Correct. - All right, yeah. Yesterday, we were talking about a publisher and then I was like ink incorporated. I didn't see it like no, we're in K.
- Yeah, yeah. - But yeah, this is inside success. We're talking business.
We're talking, you know, platforms like yourself
and that's the INC ink, right? Anyways, that's amazing. What you're doing, helping a lot of people raising a lot of confidence, you know?
“I've probably seen a lot of your people here”
on Miami Beach running around. - You do. - Oh, yes. But that's amazing. Thank you for joining us here in the studios today.
What do you think about the new studios? - The new studio is beautiful. - It's really amazing. I love it. I love the vibe and if you haven't checked out,
you need to come see it. - All right, and how was you did your session with Colfi, Colfi's a great interviewer? How was it? - It was really fun.
I breeze through my questions
“because, you know, when you talk about yourself,”
it's a little easy. - Yeah, yeah, some people, let me get that.
The people that study a lot, they always mess up
their perfect branding sentence. - All right. - But if you know your business, right? You're kind of telling someone, how we say, if you had a conference booth, right?
And then, you know, you're given that spiel, you kind of, you know, you have that attitude for sales. You have that attitude, like you want to, you know, have this guy stay and talk more, right? But they want to know the 60-second spiel
of what's your business? Who do you serve, right? What's your product, you know? How come you're different? And what makes you stand out?
And why you? - Right. - Like your elevator speech. - Exactly, you know. So anyways, I'm glad that you had fun.
I'm glad you liked the new studios. And thank you for joining us. - Thank you so much for having me. - All right, and thank you guys for joining us. Project Boot Beauty is a show.
A lot of fun guests come on. And yeah, we can eat more project beauty. - Yeah. - Let's do it. - All right, and thank you guys.
We'll see you next time on Living Your Legacy Podcast. Cheers, everyone. - Bye. (upbeat music)
