When we were in Arkansas, before we left, I asked God, "God, I want you to us...
And when we moved to Iowa, one of the things I had to realize was, you go through a period of isolation.
It was just me.
“I had 1,000 acres of park to wander. Wow.”
And go talk with God and go, "Okay, here's something you've created." And he said, "I want you to reach men, men are hurting right now." Oh yeah. Kevin Sauer is a dedicated community-focused, sustainability-driven leader, and the executive director of Love Your Neighbor Farm. Through his work, he cultivates equitable food systems
by empowering local communities with access to fresh produce and agricultural education, fostering resilience, food security, and a deeper connection between people in the land. Where does the divine download begin when you're ready to surrender and understand, you know, control any of it? There's a whole dichotomy of men out there, and women, and everything in between is just that I just like, "I did the thing! I did it! Now!"
You know, "X, Y, Z," and it's just like, "Whoops!"
“What is the real meaning of life? What is the value of life?”
When the things that come to me lightly is. It's not over! I'm telling how we're... The Living Your Legacy podcast for those who live to leave a legacy. Welcome back to an episode of the Living Your Legacy podcast. For Inside Success, I am Regretiers. We are on the verge of filming our next episode of
Operation CEO. Joining me today is Kevin Sauer. Yeah, it's making sure. Now that you said it to my brain, Kevin Sauer, you are the founder or executive director of Love Your Neighbor Farm. That's correct. I cheated a little, and I read ahead in the show notes, and this isn't quite the farm that folks think about. Well, what happens in set farms, sir? So, primarily our crop is just nuts.
Okay. And what we're developing right now is we bought a farm this April, and it was row crop, so that's corn and beans, and they rotate those crops every year. So, what we wanted to do really is restore the land, and that goes along with our theme of Love Your Neighbor Farm, which is not just restoring the land, but also restoring the people. For sure. So, creating that quiet place, creating that nature for people to come and experience,
you don't always get that in church. There's a lot of church heard out there.
Yeah, sir. So, this isn't church. This is something that God created for us, so. There you go. Yeah, every morning I look outside my door, I'm like, God, it's so noisy here. It's just concrete everywhere. I'm like, this is where I grew up, and I'm like, we spoke about my army, how much is it if you've evolved and you're asking me, "Well, how much of that evolution do you love in Miami?" I go, "Well, not much of it."
It's, it's, we've lost a lot of the green. A lot of the frequency is changed here. I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a minute, and I really enjoyed seeing all that green, and this isn't between me living in the bay in the Obama years. And then, uh, living now here in the Grandpa Trump years. It between that transition, there was that sense of neighbor, of that sense of like, "My neighbor's 30 miles down the road, but boy, we still know each other. We're in this. There's
cattle. There's air. There's farm. There's dirt in the eighth, my nails. And I'm living life. And I feel
“different." Is that what's happening in your farm, sir? I believe so. Everybody that's come out there,”
they experience peace. It's a quiet place. The town where we, we've founded our first farm is in
mechanics, Phil Iowa. So, it's a town of roughly 5,000 people. They only anchor we have as a convenience store gas station. Awesome. That's it. That's awesome. Um, we want to be that light. We want to be that beacon. Yes, sir. So folks can come out there and experience some peace, experience some quiet. We might put some cell phone jammers up so you can turn to. Yeah. Just notebooks and pencils, even pens. They even mechanical pens. I mean,
just pencils, man. Keep it like, the reason why I get so pumped about about such experiences because we talked about this other than the Bay Area. And a lot of my mentors, a lot of the executive directors, and I'm talking about like the big dogs like, you know, co-founder of this, Facebook, that, and Twitter, that, or XS. And they all would have these retreats off site. And they would just disappear. And no one would talk about what happened there. But everybody would come back
inspired, eliminated, and they'd have like a two or three quarters of fresh ideas. And that's where
The tribal code was was born.
Tony Robinson's, it doesn't take someone with that charisma to run these tribes anymore. It takes folks with the land, with the heart, with the frequency to understand what they're doing beyond just
“what's physically happening in here. Is that, is that correct? I believe so. I met my, my wife,”
and my current wife, I previously divorced. I met her in Arkansas, and that was the first time in
30 years. I really set roots down. So you get really strong roots here in Miami. And you know what it looks like. You know what it feels like. So we set all those wrote roots. We started a family. I volunteered in the community. And I learned how to serve others and to approach their hearts first, instead of worrying about what's in my heart. I know the hurts and hangups that I carry. I don't need to push that on somebody else. So when we were in Arkansas, before we left,
I asked God, God, I want you to use me. And when we moved to Iowa, one of the things I had to
realize was, you go through a period of isolation. When you asked to be used, you get tested, right?
You experienced a loneliness when you were in Oklahoma. You had to develop, you know, new networks. So my two way M friends, those guys that I can call and go, hey man, this is what's going on. They were going. Well, it was just me. I said, okay, God, I had a chance to get quiet. So our current home backs up to a state park. Wow. And the beautiful part of that is during COVID. I had a thousand acres of park to wander. Wow. And go talk with God and go, okay,
hear something you've created. And he said, I want you to reach men, men are hurting right now.
We're desperate. We've filled beat down. So create a space where they can come. They can learn.
Yes, sir. They can find out about the outdoors. They might not have known. You know, I learned in the Boy Scouts. I learned a love of nature when we moved Australia. I did, you know, my primary school years there. So that's carried throughout my life. And until I was able to act and purchase this land, all I could think about was just not trees. Wow. It was atrocious. That's crazy. Where did the the divine download begin? Is this something that you found or
“did it find you? Was it during your desperate hour? Or how did this, how did this begin?”
Surrender. When you're ready to surrender and understand, you don't control any of it. That's awesome. And then you ask God what's my purpose? And you actively pursue that. And you know, story in the Bible tells of when you want to hear God's voice. It's not in the loud thunder. It's not in the heavy winds. It's in a quiet whisper. So I had to get quiet. It's funny. It's like being 42 no children. Like back in the 80s. It's like, dude, that's awesome.
Trust me. Look around. Things are awesome. But it's like, yeah, what's my legacy? What's an axe for doing this for another 40 years? Really? So it gets tough. Because like, it's not just me. There's a whole dichotomy. A man in the 40s and 50s. It was like, cool. I'm in tech engineer. I've got six figures. I did the hustle. Look at me go. I'm still fucking miserable because I have no children. I've got I have a real estate. I do this. I do that. But I've got no North Star. And
it folks are just lost. And then just like, there's a whole dichotomy of men out there. And women and everything in between is just that are just like, I did the thing. I did it. Now, I got no family.
“I got nothing because, you know, XYZ. And it's just like, whoops. What is the real meaning of life?”
What is the value of life? Is it the, this, this, this, there's number that's sitting on some app on your phone or just looking down and seeing life. They're right back at you and go, wow. This is eternal life. So this is like, dang dude. So do I go to set far? And just, and just restart because I would save that nine. But I feel like I good. I need a good club. I need a good recycle. There's a lot of gunk. Yeah. So do men come to you and folks flock to you with their gunk.
And do they feel less gunky after a while? Yeah. Yeah. I think they do. And I think people open up to me pretty well for sure. And it's in the approach. You've got to approach their heart because without that, you don't understand where they've been at. And when the things that's
Come to me lately is, I've got, I work a full-time job as well as we're build...
what I've noticed is we've got a lot of hurt people where I work. And when you talk to them,
“you have to understand you've got to look through their glasses. You can't look through your own”
glasses. Unless you look through the lens of Jesus Christ. Yes, sir. Because he approached everybody with love, right? When he was asked, what's the two greatest commandments? Do you know what those two were? No, sir. It's love, God, and love people. Pretty simple. So restore the land. We love God. We love what he created for us. We went on or that. Love people. Just understand their hurt when they walk up to you. Yes, sir. Everybody is hurt with something. So when you take the opportunity to
listen to that, then God has an opportunity to come into that God-sized hole in your heart. You can't fill it with electronics. You can't fill it with money. You can, but it doesn't fill that space. So until I learned to go, "Okay, God, you got it all." And that turning point for me we had gone through some extremely hard trials. And during that period of time, I met a gentleman that does men's ministry. To me, it was a divine appointment. This is, yeah, it's ministry.
“It's something I'm doing research on. I think it's fascinating. Men are just on YouTube sitting”
in the rooms by themselves or standing and speaking to no one, but they're speaking to a ministry they're had because of people who are watching. Yeah, and it's not that they're just watching. They're seeking. Yes, they're seeking. Correct. So as they're seeking, you've got to be able to go out and work those fields. Yeah, dude. Because the workers are few and the work is great. Yeah, man. So, man, I live in the land of filled of dreams. Well, I will, right? Yeah, dude.
You build it, they will come. Yes, sir. This past year, when we physically got that farm, I planted 20 acres of cover crop. I put in five acres of chestnut trees. I put in another acre of fruit trees. I cut all the trails around this property, which can be seen in the, in the drone footage. Well, we put five acres of some flowers in to find out what kind of animals can we attract? Sure. All right. So, duh. I've got quail. There's a fescent that fly out there.
Wow. I was just walking with two partners. One of the guys flying back to nine to Kenya. So, from Kenya to Iowa, and the honor of having a fellow brother come and go, this is what's being built.
We love this. Um, yeah, to bring it closer to home, I've got a next door neighbor when we first
moved in. Of course, everybody's curious. It's just a property. Sure. Sure. They're concerned about development. I don't want 100 houses where, you know, this used to be a field. Yeah, we don't want Miami. So, he came over and just in a couple of minutes, he'd been church hurt. Well,
“all right, we've all been church hurt. Oh, yeah. That's what all those broken people hang out.”
And when you go in there looking and seeking and you attach that to people, you're not attaching it to the right thing. There's God. All right. And at the end of the day, your father loves you. Sure. He wants the best for you. He's got a divine plan. You can ask what it is. And man, when those blessings start flowing, you get gobsmacked, you're like, yep. God, how am I worthy of all this stuff, sir? Yeah. Yeah,
absolutely. How does one hold on to that energy? There's, there's peaks and valleys. There's
lessons to be learned. It always can't just be things are great. There's a moment where the
roller coasters got to come down so you can just ascend even higher. How does one brace for impact? And I'm speaking from experience where I, I, I, I went through cancel culture. My 15, 20 year career of of grit doing the hustle, all that, God. And just moments because this person that I thought was this ended up being a lesson in my life. But I recognize as a Christian of what was truly happening. You know, I sat and prayed and thanked God. I'm like, thank you Jesus,
Christ, my Lord, and Savior for this stroking this ego that I created on the internet, the thrive and survive. It is clear as day now. I no longer need him. That was seven years ago. I have yet to post anything since that day. Do you know that? And I worked for a social media market and got ready.
And blows my mind on my camera, I'm the podcast host, but you don't never see me posting on social
media. Unless there is an intention, there's a reason. And I'm not doing it for the likes and this engagement and the algorithms, no sir. I would, I would, I hung out with those kids back in the Facebook days in the late 2000s. We're like, everybody was like hit in marriage,
Nor anything like, look at how much we can stare at the phone and something's...
can sell that, monetize that, that algorithm. And now it's the year 2026. And we are just oozing
“and aching for just that, that is priceless. There's not a single device that can give you”
that. It's just in the heart. Yeah. And you found some land where you could just congregate this frequency of energy and bring everyone into this fellowship. And then have your, your ministry, your fellowship. I wish I had this energy when I go to a church, a brick and mortar that's going there because I can walk in there and I, oh, here we go. We can hear the hymns. We can hear that. That guitar hitting that right. No, just to get to people to spend because now he's going to
give me some funny baloney sermon that he thought that it's Jackie Petit is of a smack his hands. He's going to do something theatrical thing. That, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, and then the music's going to hit them. And then the audience is going to go, oh, I've been just been moving. Under the name of Jesus Christ, oh my God, the devil works in mysterious ways.
“I think the devil's ways are always the same. Yes, sir. They haven't changed because they're effective. Very much, sir. I can”
distract you with lust. Yeah. I can distract you with ego. Right. Eagle made the devil fall. And I was going to rise up and I don't know. Well, he was defeated by an angel and he strewn, right? So he's, he's not as omnipotent as we feel he is. And when you realize that peace I'm seeking is not the noise and stuff. Correct. We had a house fire. Our daughter would have been
first grade, second grade. And what she learned through that was it's all just stuff. The front of our house was pulled off.
It was, you know, $150,000 a remodel to redo the entire front. Everything was gutted. She lost all of her toys. And we, we wandered into church, wreaking of smoke. It was smiles on her faces because my girls were fine. Our animals were fine. And the other thing I got was my guns and guitars. I got the 3Gs out of the house. Hello, the girls guns and guitars. That's going to be a shirt. That must be a shirt, sir. So what is your common client? Who is the person that signs up
and, and is, is it, are they looking? You said they were seeking looking for answers? You know, are they on the discovery? And give us like the full circle or folks that are healed coming back and mentoring? How does this community your tribe work? Yeah, it's every man. Truly, it's every man. And you might come there. You have an experience. You might not. Sure. So we've got managed hunts. We bird hunting out there. So Turkey and
of, we're building up our peasant. And in order to do that, we've got to, you know, increase their food, increase their habitat. Sure. That's typically the guys that they want to go out. They want some action. You start calling them turkeys in. Everybody gets excited. And we've also got work days. We're planning trees. Those are folks that want to experience the earth and feel that they're giving something back. Right on. So you get a full gamut of everybody coming out there. And then
these guys are able to bring their families out. Walking trails around in the entire thing. You're
“just surrounded with nature. What are we going to learn about you in your operation CEO episode?”
Why do you think you were chosen cast it for the salt opportunity? I think it's time. So I think the opportunity was presented. What I've seen as we've planned over these past five years is as I've prayed to God and said, okay, God, you've asked for me to be obedient and do these things. I see people and opportunities being placed in front of me. And the story I relate that back to is Jesus turned the water into wine. Yeah, me quizzing me. Yeah, thumbs up. So in order to do that,
they had to gather the wine for, they had to gather the water first before the miracle could be pursued. So there's not just something physically. There's also just as the water converted. There's a conversion in our hearts. Yes, sir. And when you get to that point,
you just step out in faith. Yes, step out in faith. I always like to say lead with faith, lead with fire.
Yeah, how could folks learn more about your mission and get in contact with you? It even be part of your tribe. So our website, Lynn Farm, which stands for Love Your Neighbor, we abbreviated at the account like it for them. Yeah, so Lynn Farm.org. And then our Facebook is the most up-to-date.
You can sign up on calendar of events for there's different retreats that we ...
that's coming up for the next year. I do speaking events for sure, man. So one thing I do is
“make homemade bacon. Okay. Who doesn't like bacon? That's awesome. And I correlate that to our”
walk with Christ. So you get a slab of meat. It's about 10 pound belly slab. Okay. And then
you got a season at right for a period of time. Well, that's just like our life experiences
as we're walking along. Wow. And then there comes a point you get put into the fire.
“The smoke, the heat. It draws out everything that could cause contamination, right?”
Your trials. Nice, man. And when you're done, you slice it off. And it's actually something edible that somebody can consume. When you're able to share your story and show them,
“hey, this is what this was like. Wow. That's crazy, dude. I can just imagine you're doing it.”
That's sure on the road and the hotel sweets, I'm bad joke. Kevin's hour. Thank you so much from a love thy neighbor. Love your neighbor. Love your neighbor farm. Yeah, man. Thank you so much for great chat. This is just a warm up. We're about to walk down this spooky Miami hallway in this building and film his operations to you episode. Thank you so much for that. This is Kevin's hour. And I am ready less sour. Gootiers. And we are inside success.
