through. Lindsey Kate is an entrepreneur, real estate broker, and the owner of Lindsey Kate Collective Kate and co real estate in Henning Ranch. She helps individuals and businesses create lives they love by building thriving communities, creating meaningful opportunities and empowering others through real estate, entrepreneurship,
and authentic connection. Entrepreneurship is so hard, and so scary. I was getting burned out, and I was burnt out, and my energy and focus was focusing on the wrong thing. So when I was able to bring that back and realizing that oh my gosh, I could really help
anybody that just was really looking to regain that passion for something. You can build a business and kind of your dreams through building really good connections, and just have a really good energy because if you're not bringing the energy and you're going to bring in the passion and you're not open to connect you with people and all of that, then I don't know what you're going to do.
The living your legacy podcast for those who live to leave a legacy. Welcome to another episode of Living Your Legacy Podcasts. I'm your host Jay Selangand. Thank you for coming back and tuning in. We got a special guest today that came from the Hills of Wisconsin all the way to South
Beach dealing with the humidity. But dealing with all the preparations for the World Cup, it's exciting times, but Lindsay
“welcome to the show, and can you just introduce yourself?”
Tell us what's good. Yeah, well, many of us will decay from Wisconsin. I sell real estate, so I have a pretty big real estate business, but I also recently purchased a rant called Henning Ranch, and I'm going to be launching my podcast series, but also my courses to help anybody really understand that you can build a business and kind of your
dreams through building really good connections and just have a really good energy. So those two things can kind of go hand in hand and build your own personal brand and being able to do anything you want to do. Yeah, so being in real estate, having just recently purchased this ranch, is like you look at a lot of properties and everything, right?
So then when you saw this ranch, is this like the spot for you? Yes. You found it? Yes. The over the years, like I own my own real estate company, I sell it a couple years ago,
and I felt like everything I was doing, like I didn't have my sole purpose, like, I was pretty good, because I built my own brands. So I felt like everything I kind of tried, it was pretty good at, right? So I was like, okay, well, I got this and I got that.
When the ranch came around, I never thought that I would own my own poor sporting ranch.
Like, it just didn't think it was going to happen. Did you dream about it when you were a little girl, your little princess riding the ponies of my birthday? Okay. Well, I never had the opportunity to ride horses, really.
But my daughter, I'm a single mother, my daughter's 16 now. I've only had her, I've had her my whole life. She's been with me since the days I was making $10 an hour, living paycheck to paycheck to now, you know, we own a horse ranch and she bare all races, but you know, almost professionally.
Yeah, bare all races? She's a bare all racer. Yeah. Explain that to me. I don't know anything about her.
I know the Kentucky Derby, all right? I also know the Melbourne Cup I've been to in Australia. And there was also one woman that we met at one of the clinics here, and it was so surprising
“because she was doing, you know, like how people just surprised you, right?”
And then she's like a acrobatic horse racing, right? Wow. Like an international level, right? Yeah. Where she was like, you know, like doing handstands on the back of the horse and stuff
like that. Yeah. That's amazing. Tell me what about the racing? So, barrel racing is when the rider and their horse, they go around three different barrels,
okay. And they try to go as fast as they can. Like barrels is like, actual barrels, like barrels. Like barrels. Okay.
So, it's almost like they set up a barrel in the, like as an obstacle course or like, so they do like, like, like, like, eights around the barrels and a triangle or something? Yep. So, there's three barrels.
So, they take off to the first barrel, either the left or right.
They go around it. And then they go to the next barrel. And then, oh, so you want to do this fast as you can. Yeah. And she, this is her first year really doing it doing it.
She been doing it for a couple years, but not actually really competing. Yeah. And actually, the horse, we got a new horse, which actually was the owner's horse, the ranch that we are purchasing. Okay.
So, it's a kind of cool story. His daughter passed away tragically in December.
Yeah.
Not that cool. Yeah. Tragedics story. Tragedics story. But it goes into a cool.
It goes into a cool. Yes.
“So, you know, when it all happened, it was, we didn't know that was going to happen.”
Yeah.
I had offered to help him with the business time, because last, well, the last couple
years we've been there, he wasn't charging enough to survive. Okay. And to build the ranch and to upgrade the ranch. And he just wanted everybody to be around the horses and so do I, but there's two a point where you can't pay for everybody to help.
Yeah. So, that same week, he actually, the week before she passed. He had finally taken my, you know, was going to be like, "Hey, can you help me with the business that's handed me as taxes?" And I said, "Absolutely."
You know, days later, his daughter had passed. Oh, man. So, it was like awful. Yeah. But, um, then he offered the ranch, me and I said, "Well, I'm only doing it if you
stay." So, I can help his business side. Wow, that was nice. So, out of the darkness came the light, you know, and you were able to help him. Now, bring some, some girl energy also, you know, which you probably loved to keep that
energy. You know, it's important. Yeah. So, wow, that's great. And then, what color is this?
It's a name, color. So, the fourth name is Cache. Cache. Yeah.
“And he bought Cache when he was just a baby.”
And Cache is a nine and he, Jim is the owner.
He never even knew how to ride.
So, my daughter last year, everybody that tried to ride him would buck him off. Oh, okay. And last year, my daughter was like, "Why think I want to try riding him?" And it's magic. That's like the movies.
Yeah. Yeah, like he is literally competing already against, you know, 2D, 1TD horses, which is like the fastest you can go within a couple of races. So, it's like really, really amazing. Is this like a live-in ranch also?
Yeah. Does a house there and everything? Yeah. So, there's a house there. And then, we're going to build in the future a newer home in a community center.
Because the goal is to really bring the community back into the facility. Because it's over 13 acres on one of the highest points in Wisconsin, one of the Wisconsin. And there's so much that we can do there with healing and retreats and growth and all that kind of unsteffs. So, that's a big focus of ours in the future.
The retreats are a big business now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then we grow. Yeah.
All the doom scrolling and you just want to kind of go to retreat too, not too now. But also learn, you know, heal, yeah, have a community and do new things. I mean, that's 100% why we're there. So my daughter, she started racing 10 years ago because she was, I'm her only parent. Yeah.
And, you know, growing up, it's very hard when you don't have a father and you just, in general,
like she was always very mature and, you know, she doesn't get into the drama.
She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama.
She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama.
She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into the drama. I didn't realize this could be a world.
Yeah. And it's so peaceful, like turning off your phone and just being away from the internet and being away from all the chaos. Sign me up. Yeah.
Yeah. I want to share with you. Yeah. Yeah. And then I mean, so like you're moving into this new house and everything.
And you're talking about your real estate.
“You kind of wanted to offer it on a global scale, on online, right?”
Yep. And you also talked about podcasting, are you building like a little studio and everything there? Yes. Yeah.
So it's a inspiration from here. Absolutely. Yeah. This was fabulous. Yeah.
And you could go in. No. But yeah. So we already have space for the podcast. And we've got everything kind of set up for there and it used to be.
It was going to do the podcast for my office building. Yeah. But when the ranch came up, it was like, oh my gosh, this is exactly podcasting from the ranch. I know. You know, reach in from the ranch, whatever.
It looks like. So I was like, this is going to be really great. And it's going to be a great space. And it's going to be a great place for to come and unwind and just kind of talk about everything.
Yeah. So we have that kind of already set up. We've got our channel kind of going already. So we have a Lindsay Kate Live, which is going to be under the Lindsay Kate Collective website.
So we have everything branching off of that. And what's the website URL for that? Yep. So it's a Lindsay Kate Collective.com. Okay.
Any dashes or just Lindsay Kate Collective? Just Lindsay Kate Collective. That's really easy. For some reason, they do it wrong, and they spell it just Lindsay Kate. Yeah.
That allows them to catch you there. So we have both of those domains just in case. But yeah. And on the podcast, it's going to be talking a lot about how to teach people to be able to build a business for and be able to build a life that they really want.
And it's not through knowing better, doing better. It's how to create really good connections. How to bring your energy to the table of what you want to do. Yeah. Because if you're not bringing the energy in, you're not bringing the passion and you're
not open to connecting with people and all of that, then I don't know what you're doing. Right? Because you got a lot of energy here. I already feel it, you know, so yeah, bring the positive energy to your business.
It's important that's, you know, when you're passionate about something, when...
it so much time, right, you can't let it drain you.
So you got to find that energy that's space where you can just focus on your business. And, you know, I guess have it energize you and not drain you. Yeah.
“Well, and I think, you know, because I don't know if you've had many, many careers before,”
but I feel like if I'm quite a few, where when I started losing the energy, that's when the passion was gone. Yeah. So I was like, Oh, shoot. I was burned out.
I was getting burned out. And I was burned out. You know, and then I was like, I sold my real estate company thinking, yeah, sometimes you go to like the way deeps for like, I don't even want to do real estate anymore. But then when I get to the project, nobody would have laughed real estate.
Yeah. I just was burned out. And the energy and focus was focusing on the wrong thing. Yeah.
So when I was able to bring that back and realizing that, oh, my gosh, I could really
help with coaching other real estate agents, other business people in general, anybody that just was really looking to regain that passion for something. Well, a lot of people are, especially in today's day and age, because with the advent of all the AI craziness, right? Oh, it's crazy.
And all of the kind of middle-class jobs and the knowledge-based jobs getting acts from AI, right? Yeah. A lot of people getting fired, unfortunately, people are looking to entrepreneurship, right? And it's going to be really important for someone to say, you know, hopefully they look
at it more like an opportunity and they're in a position where they can, you know, make that transition, okay, if they get fired, right? Prepare now people, you know, so you can put yourself in that position. Yeah. But, yeah, you know, being able to teach people about entrepreneurship, about what it
“takes, right, because it's coming, you know, and I think that'll be the best way where”
they can handle a lot of things that are on their horizon. Absolutely. Yeah. And it's entrepreneurship is so hard. And so scary.
Yes. And it's very risky. Yeah. And people like to feel comfortable. Yeah.
But in the end, it's almost like, you know, bungee jumping, right, where it's scary, but you got to take that leap by yourself. You know, like, I can walk you and I connect you and I can teach you what to do and everything. But in the end, taking that leap, that's on you, all right?
Exactly. Yeah. And if I can help people get to that, that's exactly what I like to do. All right. What do you have a lot of exciting things going on?
Yeah. And yeah. So also with this, you know, moving things online, how's that transition been with everything? Yeah.
Well, I've used to being in an office and teaching people one-on-one. And that's just not the days that we're in anymore. What's cool about is that I can actually help more people. Yeah. So transitioning to the online, not going to lie.
It is not pretty easy. Yeah. You know, you're trying to figure out where do I put my platforms and where do I do all this? Do I do it on social media?
Do I? On YouTube? Do I? And let's checklists. And then you get put into this, like, it's overwhelming, right?
Or I just need to start doing it somewhere. Absolutely. Yes. You just need to start. And then you'll get to know what's important, then you get to know, okay, I can focus
on this, a mad or like you said, this is draining my energy, this is energizing me. So, you know, just focus on that also, right? Yeah. No. That's absolutely true.
Well, we're going to get all of into it in her episode, looking forward to it. But yeah, if you're interested in real estate, horse ranches, you know, helping with entrepreneurial kind of mindset and moving to an online business from real estate angle, then tune into Lindsay's episode. I just like to ask, what do you most excited about, right?
I mean, I know you're excited about last time. You got the horses. You got those, you know, transition and everything. But in life or business, what are you most excited about?
Right now, I'm most excited about finally being able to help people understand and see
that through my faith that I've been able to connect so much with people and that it's about the connections and the energy that you bring.
“And if I can help to see them one person more, that's what I'm excited about.”
It's to be able to finally do this on a bigger scale through my workshops and my courses. Let me ask you this, right? Because energy, right, is, I don't know, it's like, I'm an extrovert, right? And there's, there's introverts who energize kind of like in their own personal space, right? And then there's extroverts that just seem to like energize with with everyone, right?
Yeah. Have you kind of dealt with introvert, extrovert energy? Absolutely. Yeah. And you know what's weird is that I'm an extrovert too, but I'm also an introvert.
Because I feel like when you're an extrovert that you are just as high an energizes you are, but you also go just as deep self when you're not. And I think that over the last couple of years is just going through the burnout and having
Something that happened.
I almost felt like I then understood like, oh my gosh, my energy is a lot for people.
So I can, I can kind of feel when I'm talking to people that this is too much. I'm actually just going to ask one thing and then I'm just going to listen. So I feel that over the years it took time, but that that energy is a way to hone
“into because that is really important to as if you want to connect with certain people.”
You can't always be on your energy level.
Yeah, that also you have to be like a community. Yeah, there's so many different personality types. You know, the whole like Myers-Briggs personality types. You know, when you get old, you kind of geeked out into this stuff.
“You know, when you're younger, you know, you know, you don't teach any of this, right?”
About introverts, extroverts, you know, just people's personality types and then you're like, oh, wait a minute.
And then you're wife gets you into, hey, it is lovely. We're just two, right? Yeah. But the book, so many books that I haven't finished all of them. I know.
I know.
“But yeah, I mean, just knowing this kind of stuff, you get to know people's energy levels as well”
and work with the kind of person that they are, you know. But yeah. All right. There we go. And we know where to find you.
We know where you're excited about, but yeah, we can't wait to hop into this episode. And tonight, you'll be discovering more of Miami Beach in this world cup fever. We got going. The town's alive right now. It seems really exciting.
It's awesome. All right. Well, thank you for joining us again on the Living Your Legacy Podcast and we can't wait till the next episode.
