“Introduce your name, your business, and what's good?”
- My name is Dr. Lisa Roselli. Some of you might have known me formally as Dr. Lisa Turner. And I am the sole owner and practicing period on a set Venice Parriedonics and Implant Dentistry. And I also own and managed the Pearl Regenerative Institute,
which is a scientific medical spa in Southwest Florida. - All right, and that's in Sarasota, or... - It's in Sarasota County, specifically the town of Venice. - Oh, okay, Venice. Venice, how is Venice Florida compared to the real...
This is a couple of Venice's, Venice Florida. Venice Beach in California, and then Venice Italy, right? - I've been all three. Is it okay, so is it one, two or three on that list? - Oh, I'm gonna have to, well, I don't want to disappoint my neighbors
and but Venice Italy is incredible.
- Yeah, okay, we all know that's the number one Venice, okay, hands down. - Venice Beach in California is pretty cool, you know? - But the water's cold. - The water's cold and dry. - Yeah, yeah. - And there's a gym on the beach, that's pretty awesome.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. - Well, I do prefer Venice, Florida Beach over the beach in California. - Okay, well, I'm gonna have to go check it out, yeah. - But the beach is over on that side of Florida. Like the sand is completely different.
It's just like, very white sand, very nice. - Right, C.S.T.K.E, that's that white quartz sand.
“- Okay, and it stays cool, which is pretty awesome, you know?”
- All right. - Venice Beach is different, but it's still very beautiful, but there are lots of beaches all the way down that side of Florida that you should take. - Well, you're originally from Virginia, and then came down to Florida.
- All right, so how is it, living in Florida? - I love living in Florida. It's the best decision I've ever made in my life. - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah, I love to be outside.
I love the sunshine, it makes me happy. And to have the opportunity to live in a place where you can be outside all year long is really just a giant blessing to me. - Yeah.
- And my life, my happiness factor, it multiplied, you know, 10 fold since I've moved to Florida in 2019. - And let's not forget about the pink elephant in the room. - No income tax. - That's right, right.
- That's right. - Okay, that, you know? Let's take the sun and the extra money. - That's, thank you very much. - That's right, yeah.
- So, yeah, tell us about you, R.A. I'm sorry, I don't want to mess it up, right? - Yeah, but I'm a board certified pariodontist. - Okay, which is a dead end. - In my head, I was like,
"Fordiatrists, no, that's a fluid doctor." - Right? So, say it again. - And they're in, I'm a board certified practicing pariodontist. - Pariodontist.
- Which is very, you know, when I describe myself, I tell people, it's similar, very similar to an oral surgeon. We actually do a wider range of surgery as a pariodontist typically than oral surgeons.
And no shade on my wonderful friends.
I got a lot of oral surgeon friends that are amazing,
Normally oral surgeons will choose a handful of things
that they really become excellent at. And they will focus their field there, whereas pariodontists are really full service oral surgeons. - Yeah, okay. And yeah.
“- So, what are the top things that you are working on in your field?”
- My favorite thing to do in my field is full-arched dentistry. That's hybrid dentistry.
That's when we call it the person's third dentition
or their third set of teeth in their life. First set of teeth are our baby teeth. - Okay. - The second set of teeth are our permanent teeth, which we hope to keep a pariodontist first goal
is to keep those permanent teeth for your lifetime. But sometimes that doesn't happen for one reason or another. And a person goes into what we call their third dentition. And that's where, we take out the teeth.
We repair the bone, we put the implants in, and we actually 3D print and load teeth the same day, typically. - Whoa. - Yeah, it's pretty lucky to get to really print with.
Like, I'm guessing some kind of like, not, it's like cement. But there must be some special material, resin. - So the first set of teeth that come out that are delivered the same day.
We call them provisional or temporary teeth. They're absolutely gorgeous. We can make your smile look like any hollywood star, you choose the 2D printing teeth for. - You know, it's been going on for probably a decade or so.
- Really? - We really have fine tuned it now. I want to probably the only pariodontist in the, I don't know, country that has their own 3D printing. There are handful of a few friends that do it,
but our own 3D lab inside my practice. - Okay, so can I go to you and say, okay, I want the top teeth like Brad Pitt, but the bottom teeth like Tom Cruise. - For sure.
- Yeah, don't dull through Tom Cruise's teeth.
“If you want to have a diaspora like Mike Tyson,”
you can do that too, a space, that's a space. - Yeah, the right teeth. - That was thick enough, all right, that's interesting. So, 3 sets of teeth, hopefully not for, hey, I gotta ask you something, right?
I have had this permanent retainer on the bottom of my teeth. - Good job. - I was like 12 years old, can I take it out? - Your teeth will move if you take it out. - So keep it in there.
- Oh my God. - Just make sure you floss underneath your teeth. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - There ain't done this. - And the answer was, say, I'm gonna take it out, you know,
I'm like that, that's smooth bottom, right, but is there, there's not a new technology yet, or I can take it out. - You can take it out, but you still have to have a retainer on any orthodontists, that's, you know,
in the country, you're gonna tell you when you wear retainers, it's for the rest of your life. So if you lose your retainers, the dog eats them like my niece just had that happen. The other day, make sure you get yourself more retainers.
So you can have removal retainers, you don't have to have the permanent one, but it's a wild thing that happens to human beings.
And I always tell my patients,
“'cause they're like, I think these teeth are moving,”
you know, lower front teeth, there's a phenomenon in humans, that's called, "Mesial Drift." - Okay. - Okay. - And not Tokyo drift, that's like,
always like, Tokyo drift of the teeth. - Right. - The teeth move our whole lives. They drift toward the front. And so if you think about, like, maybe your grandfather,
when you think about his lower front teeth, they were probably overlapping, that's from that phenomenon. And if you had given your grandfather a permanent retainer when he was 18 years old or 16 years old, his teeth would have stayed where they're.
- All right. But back then, they didn't have 3D printed teeth, they had like the wooden teeth of George Washington. That's like a think about, you know? - Right, right.
That's actually been debunked. - Oh, no. - Yeah, but-- - No, you did not tell me that. - So sorry. (laughing)
- Okay, so what, they were wooden. They weren't wooden. - Yeah, okay. - Yeah. - Were there anything, or did you do that?
- I do that. - Some kind of an old, but dental material back then. - Okay. - Not really sure what the kid had that. (laughing)
- So they were wooden, it was rocks. Or maybe it was like, what's that? The petrified wood, maybe. - Right, maybe. - Come on, GWG doves, right?
He didn't have wood. He had petrified wood, you know? - Petrified. - All right, only the best for our number one president there. So, all right.
Well, what's very interesting is that you're moving beyond your practice and you open up a new business. - Yeah. - Kind of, it's kind of below my mind. It's like at the forefront and the health and wellness,
technology and that whole industry. So tell us a little bit about that. - Yeah, it's exciting. I'm opening up a regenerative medical spot called the Pearl Regenerative Institute.
And I actually had my grand opening about a month and a half ago. - Okay. - And we had a big tour bus party outside my practice. And it was amazing. I had Frank Sinatra impersonators singing out there,
all blue eyes and it took place in Venice, Florida where my current existing practices.
And we had just an incredible time.
People got to get on the tour bus and test out the technology and experience it themselves to kind of get an idea of what we're gonna have at the Pearl. It was a super fun day for everybody. And yeah, that was our kickoff.
So right now, I'm running the practice out of my existing dental office. I'm gonna join the building next door, as well as the current location.
We're gonna do some renovations.
I'm still in the planning stages of that because there's part of me that wants to just tear the building down and just design and develop, you know, a multi-story commercial place for the medical spot.
That's going to allow us growth in the future. - Yeah. So I mean, that's a lot of thinking to do,
“like how long do you have to make that decision?”
- Well, the Pearl is open right now. We're running it out of the perio practice. And so, you know, there's no stop in that train right now. And, you know, I'm just going to I'm navigating some things in my personal life right now
that I need to close a few doors and continue to move forward in my business life, you know? - Yeah. So it is women and power. And you are totally a woman and power,
especially with these amazing scrubs you have on.
I've never seen scrubs like this.
And you think scrubs, you think blue, you think boring hospital describe. Like, this is like out of like star tracks meets fashion week or something, man. It's like amazing, right?
I don't know. Do you have to special order these? - Yeah, I just have to give a shout out to figs right now because this is their one piece outfit. - Wow.
- Okay. - We wear them at work and the funny thing is on Wednesdays we wear pink like mean girls. And so we have this exact outfit in hot pink like carbies. - Hey.
- And that's when we get mean. So yeah, I mean it is women and power. And you've got a pretty amazing story that you which is taking your power back, kind of tells a little bit about that. - Yeah, yeah, I'm not ashamed of this.
I was with the same man for 31 years of my life. Since I was 19 years old, I met him in Virginia. And we had what I thought was a very solid 29 year marriage. - You would hope to think that you're got long.
- We do have three very amazing children,
two girls in a boy and that I'm just absolutely so proud of, you know, they are 21, 25 and 28 years old now. And my two daughters are also kicking butt and you know taking care of people in this world. They are both registered nurses and in two different fields.
Aaron isn't behavioral health care and she is working in the keys, my beautiful Aaron. She can open my phone with her face if anybody wants to know what Aaron looks like. And she's more intelligent than I am.
She's incredibly driven.
“And one day I think that she will be probably running the Pearl.”
- Okay. - And that was actually our brainchild together. And there's the significance behind the name Pearl to me and to Aaron as well. That was her dog's name and just an incredible whimeriner.
Anyway, Aaron is working in the keys right now. One day she will be back to Venice probably. And we're having to navigate this family situation. Their father ended up, I had to file for divorce for health reasons last year and there was no choice.
It was a life or death situation, honestly, with my therapist and doctors and because of an anxiety disorder that was caused by him. Anyway, what I was hoping to be a very amicable divorce that turned into something that blows my mind
and I learned first of all from a friend of mine that you don't learn who a person is at the beginning of a relationship you learn at the end when the mask comes off. And the man that I was married to is evidently
a covert vulnerable narcissist slash sociosycopath. And I had to learn what all of those terms were
on a scientist that never studied all the way.
“- That's a double lamby that you do not want to deal with, you know?”
- It has been an incredible whammy since I filed for divorce in November. And I am begging these lawyers to get me to the finish line right now because I need to close that door and move on in my life and we have to heal from this.
I mean, you know, my children have to heal. It's heartbreaking for them to discover who their father is. It's heartbreaking for me because I chose him to be their father. And I gave him, you know, so much of my life and love thinking that this was the love of my life
and a giant surprise, okay, all of us, yeah. - Well, there's two people that I want to introduce you to. Because I know that you said that you don't listen to much, you know, YouTube or have time for that, right? - Right.
- But these people are going to be so amazing for you. One is James Sexton, who's a YouTuber and he's a divorce lawyer in New York City. - Okay, okay. - And he's just such an interesting guy
because he's dealt with billion dollar divorces, the nastiest divorces, you know, some of the biggest divorces like New York City, right? - This one might hit like, you know, this is a pretty wild and crazy one.
- Yeah. - But he's just so interesting to talk to you because he's just so animated and the way that he talks, yeah, he's a made James Sexton, right? And then, yeah, of course, Dr. Romani,
who is the like leading psychologist when it comes to narcissists
The way that she breaks it down, it's so interesting.
And I can't wait to meet both of them. - Honestly, yes, please watch their stuff because it's like with narcissists, right? It's honestly like until you know that they're gonna be the most charming guy in the room.
“And now you have to be careful about the charm.”
When they have too much charm, you know, it's like, it's a mess. - It's Gary. - Yes. - It's very scary.
I mean, obviously, he charmed me, right? - Of course. - I mean, there were some people in his family that I questioned about character, you know, when I met him and his name is Jerry Turner.
And anyway, I, you know, I thought, oh my gosh, this man is so nice. He did not get that genetic trait and I was sorely mistaken because the covert part portion of this narcissism
is the Mr. Nice guy syndrome and he is able to manipulate many, many people as a matter of fact, there's someone else. - And everyone against you. - I was watching.
- I know, I mean, some of my closest friends, family members, I mean, a lot of people, they're goalists to isolate you. - Yeah. - And he's a master isolator. He's a master manipulator.
And he is just incredible.
What I have experienced in my life, you know, some of my friends and co-resons, my staff members have witnessed this on a daily basis. This man has absolutely terrorized me. And there's nothing short of that.
It's nothing short of terror. - Well, congratulations.
“We're being able to get out of that situation, right?”
And kind of take back to your power. - Yeah. - And be independent and free again, focus on your businesses, you know, and your children and everything.
I mean, I see that way that you carry yourself now, it just seems so free, right? - Thank God, I mean, yeah, I thank God for the bravery that I have had to become who I am as a woman in power, a woman in business and an entrepreneur.
You know, my brain is on fire. It doesn't slow down. I love what I do. I always have new ideas. And I want women to grasp that and do this in their lives.
It's incredibly rewarding, you know, professionally, personally and I'm just so proud now that I'm brave enough to have found my exit strategy from that marriage. Somebody one day probably should write a book about the situation that I've endured
and my family has endured. And if you don't think that narcissists can harm a family, I have watched him, I mean, harm my mother, you know, mentally, my mother has watched her daughter go almost die at the hands of this man multiple times
in the last year, you know, because of things that he's done, I was involuntarily hospitalized on May 15th of this year because of a false Baker Act report which is something that you file in Florida. And the judge just didn't verify any of the facts.
I ended up being taken from my bed in the middle of the night, handcuffed, thrown in back of a police car,
which I've never even been in a handcuff in my life.
- Midnight, you hear knock knock knock, right? - Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang and that's like what is going on? - I look out the people when I see police and right away I fear for my family or anything something was wrong, I opened the door.
They threw these papers in front of me, grabbed me by the hands and handcuffed me. And I was, they busted into my house. I was like, I was half asleep. I was in these cute little pajamas set.
And I was like, can I put clothes on, you know? And I said, hold on just a second 'cause I have bad allergies, Florida's terrible for allergies. And I was trying to take my singular, and a legardee really quick because they said I was going for 72 hours.
Well, guess what, surprise, I was there for five days. And there was a lot of negligence that happened in that hospital, you know, I am looking for an attorney right now to file suit against the state of Florida for what they allowed happen to me.
They put my patients in danger, they put me in danger. And that's unacceptable. I don't want that to happen to any other woman, ever. - This is the real deal. Like, this is like the movies, right?
- It's the movie stuff. - I know, this is, and just talking to me, you're so put together, you're so smart. I mean, and you're so kind of like fierce, right? You're a bad ass bitch, right?
With all that you've done, and what you're growing, and you're going into. So it's almost like, can we just have a conversation before you lock me and put me in this and stay inside Arkham, asylum for three to five days,
what do we just talk, you know? - Exactly, I will say that, you know,
there was one psychiatrist, and he was amazing.
And I didn't get to see him in person.
“It was a Zoom thing because that's what health care is”
turning into, and it's really, it's a disservice to humans. Anyway, he very quickly figured out that this was a big disaster, and he tried to get me out of that hospital quickly, but red tape was in the way. And I saw it happen to a lot of patients in that place.
There were people that needed to be there. There were also people that should not have been there. They should have been a hospital. That's in a different type of environment.
It was an incredibly dangerous and threatening environment
for me. It was very scary. And it's sad to me to think that people are probably there right this minute, and they shouldn't be there. - Yeah. - We need to be able to protect our citizens more than that.
You know, yesterday I went on to, um, I'm desperate to get somebody to help me, get out of the situation. I'm in with this marriage. You know, when you're a doctor and you file for divorce, lawyer see dollar signs and they don't want to drag you to the judge
right away. I'm on my third lawyer.
The first one was sick, and he was a wonderful man,
but we weren't getting anywhere. I think because of his illness. And so we parted ways. And I could believe the second one was a very fierce woman in Sarasota.
And I had confidence in her. But at the same time, I felt like everything was getting slowed down, pushed back because they're look like a lot of financial gain potentially there. And so I fired her.
So was she working per hour or percentage? - Oh, yes, they were working by the hour.
“- That's what I don't get with lures, right?”
Because it's like, if you're working by hour, then what do you want to finish the job? - Right. - It's like, okay, we want more meetings. We want to discuss this and that and oh, we have to do this.
So it doesn't feel right, you know?
- So many people, and I have learned so many things
in the middle of this divorce. I'm telling you right now, when you are a successful woman, like I am, you know, the financial gain follows that success. And so, you know, when this process started, I was incredibly financially stable.
And, you know, if this man that I'm divorcing, he just wants a payday over and over again, he asked for immediate alimony. I'm thinking, don't you have any self respect? You know, he's a retired firefighter.
And he was my office manager, which also is disastrous. I would recommend nobody to ever do that in your lives. That was a bad idea. Because once I found for divorce, he terrorized the business
because he had the ability to, because he put himself into that position. So he could have that power and that knowledge.
“- And he was, he was getting ready on the side, right?”
He turned off your internet, right? 'Cause we had all the passwords and everything. So, I mean, I got out of that psychiatric hospital, get to work and all of sudden, a couple hours later, the internet's off.
And we find out a few days later, that is because he hacked into my Comcast business account, changed the contact information. And I wasn't getting the bills. Payment wasn't getting made.
I didn't get notification. My patients couldn't call me. They couldn't communicate with me. If they had an emergency and they died, that was at his hands. I mean, this is a criminal offense.
And that's the first one that he's gotten caught with.
You know, once that laptop gets handled and the IP address gets determined and people get his cell phone from him, which are his two weapons that he is basically trying to take me down and destroy my business with.
He's gonna have to pay for what he's done. - Yep, yep. Well, you're getting your power back, right? This is women and powers while you're on the show. And you're growing not only your prior business,
but your new business, right? And you're growing your relationships with your kids, which is amazing. So, what I like to ask everyone is, what do you most excited about?
And it could be about the business that could be about personal, but what are you most excited about these things? - I'm so excited about my future as a human being. And free woman that is going to be in control of myself
and not controlled by anybody else. - Yeah, yeah. - And I've also learned that when you're an artistic relationship, you have to be careful because the next relationship you tend to be attracted
to could potentially be that, you know? And so I have to have it to be very cautious right now, you know, I've met somebody. They also kind of go after the smart person where they feel like, oh, you know,
this is mine to conquer, you know? - Yeah, it's a game, you know, and my counselor, this wonderful woman named-- - Because of Booster Ego, right? It's like I got caught, I caught it, you know, it's the hunt.
And I learned that I was hunted, not love but hunted. And good job, go on and hunt somebody else. You know, I found out that they don't stop hunting you until there's another person to hunt. Well, somebody contacted me on Instagram.
And this woman is also very beautiful, very intelligent. She's actually, and he's an idiot because she's actually a former US Marine and federal agent. - Yeah. - And so he hunted the wrong one.
He is stalking this woman. She contacted me through Instagram after I made my profiles public so that my children could see that I was okay. And anyway, she found me and together we're going to take this man down.
- Yeah.
“- So you also have a podcast or some kind of show that you started?”
- Yeah, so I, you know, in my newfound freedom in singleness, you know, it's so funny how much advice people give you. Good bad ugly, you know, everybody wants to give me advice. Everybody's scared for me because they know I love everybody.
I really don't see danger in people.
What I learned is this personality called the light triad.
And I didn't know about this either, but a psychiatrist, who I met in the last eight months, told me Lisa, here you go, period on us, you like to read. Here's a paper to read. I want you to read about this personality type.
And I think you have it. And it's kind of like somebody who trusts everybody, a humanitarian, I see the good in people, right? - Yeah. - And I don't want to see bad in people.
And I have learned that that may be dangerous, you know, because I trust a lot of people. And anyway, so it's good to learn things like this
“about yourself because you need to know where your weak spots are.”
You know, I know where my strong ones are. You need to know where your weak spots are so that you don't get yourself in the same situation. But I did start anyway. I'm seeing somebody that's top secret.
He's an amazing human being.
He's the most handsome man I've ever seen in my life. And I know. (laughs) And he's not in medicine at all. And I wanted to teach him what I did. And so I started what's called the Dear John series.
And it was a joke at work, but I made these little videos about what I do as a period on test. And I used it just to teach him. And he's so cute.
And the first one, he was like, whoo!
“And he was so cute because I videotaped.”
They videotaped me or the girls did at work. And I have one, my surgical gear. And right away, he sent me the funniest text back. It was like a Navy seal with like this, you know, infrared, all this stuff on like in it,
did look like what I wear at work. (laughs) It just has a funny sense of humor too. But anyway, it became a teaching tool for me at work with new hires.
And then I said, you know, why am I not sharing this with the world? Because really it's education that general Dennis and other period on us can use to develop and grow their practices.
And when I made these public, I was on Instagram at first
because I'm not very technologically savvy. My team of very young and beautiful assistants have to help me with everything. I don't even know how to turn the television on. And this is not a joke. (laughs)
Anyway, so but then they open up a YouTube channel for me. I just started it so that people can see the full videos sometimes. And you know, I just, I wait for educational opportunities in practice to, oh, that's an interesting case
or oh, somebody could learn from this and we make these little videos and now they're now they're out there for the world to see. My Instagram's called "The Perio Pearl." And so is the YouTube channel.
I think I believe it's called Perio Pearl. My name is Still Lisa Turner somewhere in that. I'm, you know, changed it to Dr. Lisa Rosalele, which is my mother's name. And anyway, so people will still be able to find me
