Hi friends, it's Ms.

Today's episode is extra magical, because it's all about St. Patrick's Day.

St. Patrick's Day happens every year on March 17th, and is a special day when people celebrate the country of Ireland. Ireland is a beautiful place with rich green grass, miles of rolling hills, and magical, colorful rainbows after it rains. Today, we are going to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by chatting about silly little lepracons, sparkling rainbows, and tiny green clovers.

We'll sing a famous Irish song together, learn all about Irish instruments,

and at the very end, I'll tell you a magical story about a tiny fairy who brings a little bit of wonder, and magic everywhere she goes. Are you guys ready? All buckled up back there? Get cozy in your car seat, and let's drive into our St. Patrick's Day adventure.

Growing up, before we head to Ireland today, I wanted to tell you a little bit about one of our sponsors for today's episode.

Okay little's, we're back. I want to start today by telling you about one of my favorite little creatures we see on St. Patrick's Day. They're called leprocons, and they are imaginary little friends from Ireland. They're very small. Some stories say they're

only as tall as your knee. They like to wear green coats and tiny hats, and they love hiding by pots of gold at the end of rainbows. And do you know what else they love? Clovers. Clovers are little green plants that grow in the grass. Most clovers have three leaves, but sometimes, not very often, you might find a Clover with four leaves. In Irish culture, people say a four leaf Clover is so lucky because it's rare and special to find. That extra leaf doesn't grow

very often, so when someone finds one, it kind of feels like a little surprise. Some stories say that leprocons like to gently pluck Clovers from the ground and tuck them into their hats for good luck. Let's sing a song all about Clovers growing in our gardens and the sneaky little leprocons that come to pluck them.

To pluck, pluck, pluck. Uh-oh, the leprocons are quite common. How many left?

Four little Clovers growing in my garden for little Clovers just smile up. Look who's eating my garden, leprocons come in to pluck, pluck, pluck, pluck. How many do we have now? Three, that's right. Three to Clovers growing in my garden, three to Clovers just smile up. Look who's eating my garden,

Leprocons come in to pluck, pluck, pluck.

Two to Clovers growing in my garden, two to Clovers just smile up. Look who's eating my garden,

leprocons come in to pluck, pluck, pluck. There's only one left, my friends. Let's sing it all together this time. One little Clover growing in my garden, one little Clover just smile up. Look who's eating my garden,

leprocons come in to pluck, pluck. Look, pluck, pluck. What beautiful singing musicians?

I love when you join in with me. The music sounds so much better with you. Thank you for singing with me. Hey, did you notice that that song made your body want to move? Me too? Irish music is famous for lively dances called Jigs. They have a bouncy rhythm that makes your feet want a hop and tap all they long. Irish music is also known for beautiful instruments like the Irish harp and the flute. They have very special sounds, summer twingly in gentle, summer light and dancing.

Let's take a listen to a few Irish instruments now and learn what makes each one so special.

Here's the first one. Do you hear it? That is the magical sound of the Irish harp.

A harp is a big beautiful instrument with lots and lots of strings. If you look at the artwork for this episode, you'll see a small picture of an Irish harp. When you gently pluck the strings with your fingers, the harp makes a soft twingly sound. The harp can sound calm and peaceful, like a quiet rainbow after the rain. Sometimes it sounds magical, almost like fairy music will chat all about fairies at the end of this episode and maybe even hear them playing.

Long ago, people would play the harp to tell stories through music. The sound could make you feel

happy, peaceful, or even a little dreamy. Isn't that amazing? Just strings and fingers.

And suddenly, music fills the air. What's that sound?

I hear another instrument. Do you want to guess what this beautiful sound is coming from? Yep, an Irish flute. The Irish flute is a long wooden instrument that you hold sideways. When you blow air across the little hole, it makes a light bright dancing sound. Can you pretend to play one with me? Hold your pretend flute out to the side. Take a deep breath in, and now blow gently. You sound great. The Irish flute is often heard in lively

dances like jigs and reels. It sound can be quick and bouncy, like little feet tapping on the ground, or soft and sweet, like a gentle breeze over the green hills of Ireland. Sometimes it sounds like it's telling a happy story. Other times, it sounds peaceful and calm. Isn't it just

amazing how just your air, your breath, can turn into music? Let's listen for a few moments.

Isn't it wonderful to learn all about the sounds of different instruments? I love how they all have their own personalities, just like you. In the next song, we will hear even more instruments. It is time to sing one of the best most famous Irish tunes ever. I do this song in my life classes every year for St. Patrick's Day, and pretty much every month after that too, since it's such a huge hit. It's called ratland bog and toddlers and preschoolers go wild for it. A bog

is a squishy, muddy, grassy place in Ireland, kind of like a wet meadow. And in that wet meadow,

There's a tree.

we will add something to the tree, like a branch, and then a nest, and then an egg, and so on.

Each time we sing, we have to remember everything that came before, so it's kind of like a musical

memory game. Also, my friends, I am so excited to tell you that I will be singing this song with some incredible Irish musicians today. I'd like to welcome Derek Warfield and the young wolf tones on the show to sing their chart topping hit, Ratland bog. All sing the verses with you guys in the car, and they will sing the choruses, and play all of the instruments. Maybe you'll even hear some new instruments today.

Grownups, before we hear this epic tune, here's a word from one of our sponsors.

[Music]

Well, that was just amazing. I cannot believe we made it all the way through that song

from the tree in the bug to the little flea on the feather. Thank you so much for joining me on that wonderful tune and thank you Derek Warfield and the young wolf tones for jamming out with us today. You guys are the best and it was such an honor to have you join us for our Seat Patrick's Day car ride. My loves, let's cool down now from all that singing with a special story for Seat Patrick's Day called The Little Ferry's Sparkle.

[Music] Once upon a time, in the green hills of Ireland, there lived a tiny fairy named Fey. She was very small with shimmery wings and whenever she flew, a trail of sparkly fairy dust followed behind her. Fey had a special job. She sprinkled magic dust wherever she saw kindness. When someone shared, fairy dust. When someone helped a friend, more fairy dust.

When someone used gentle hands or kind words, even more fairy dust. One day, Fey saw a little boy sitting alone under a rainbow. He looked sad. A little ways away, a little girl was walking by, singing the song. She saw the little boy and noticed he looked upset. She went over to him and said, "Hey, do you want to sing with me?" Fey, the fairy saw this and sprinkled her fairy dust.

And just like that, the little boy stood up, held her hand and continued to walk under the rainbow with a little girl, a smile beginning to form on his face. Fey, the fairy, smile too. Because the real magic wasn't her fairy dust. It was kindness. And if you ever feel a little sparkle of kindness in your heart, it might just be a fairy reminding you to share your magic too.

Wasn't that such a sweet story? I thought so too. Friends, before we go today, there's one more thing we have to do. I have a very special song. I want to sing to some of our friends who are celebrating birthdays this month. To all of my March little ones, I'm wishing you a wonderful year ahead, filled with love and lots of music.
