>> We're going to write club by Peter Wright's club today.
[MUSIC] >> I think that's better than most. How about you?
“That is better than most, better than most.”
[MUSIC] >> Expect anything different? [MUSIC] >> Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the "No Laying Up" live show presented by Titleist 54 holes in the book at the Open Championship.
I am Solie, joined by Mr. Neal Schuster Hello, Icarito, how are you? >> Greetings, Solie. I've thrilled to be here.
Yeah, let's get it going.
Thought about you today when I saw a big, strong, burly athletic golfer out there, air milling greens and having rules incidents at Royal Burkdale. I was like, I know that guy. >> I didn't see that guy, I didn't see that. I saw an actor in his prime.
That's what I saw. A true despian, despian, desp, desp, desp, desp. >> Yeah, it was despressed out there, man. It was good to, good day, good day at the Open. Solie, good to be with you, how are you?
>> That is the voice of DJ Pai-Halski. I am excellent. These first couple segments here are going to be presented. Read, free, add, free by our friends at Tidalis and the new GTS drivers.
How are you going to miss the GTS drivers and not get into my sales pitch about how amazing
that golf club is? >> It's not even written in the script tonight, so I'm not going to do it. DJ, how are we feeling, how are we looking, 54 holes, and after quite an eventful thread? Maybe not quite as eventful of a Saturday morning and afternoon here. >> Yeah, one of those were your, your chomping at the bit, as soon as you,
as soon as you wake up, I couldn't get enough of it yesterday. Today is going to be just as good.
“I think we were due for a little bit of a hangover, right?”
And that's to take nothing away from San Bernard who played awesome golf, excited to talk about it, takes nothing away from the great man, Foxy, who played great golf this morning and injected a little bit of course discourse and excitement into the morning coffee this morning. >> Yeah, got a little, you know, a little flat.
I feel like Scotty couldn't get it going. Tommy kind of spotted, Johnny Rambo was nowhere to be found, like the big names and then Bryson was kind of sputtering on that front nine. So it was a little bit of a, a little bit of a hangover day, which I think is to be expected, but I think we're set up for a nice final round, Neil, what's, what's, say you?
>> Yeah, I mean, TC called out, he's probably somewhere over Virginia or something, who knows? We don't know where he is. >> Where is TC? >> We do know. You know, we can't, we'll really get a confirmation there, but there's some looting going
on this morning. It felt like it. It was like, oh my god, Foxy races out and all credit to me, played awesome. And I was concerned that, you know, the guys were starting to be freed up out there. I said yesterday didn't feel like those 62s, like those guys were pinned their ears back.
Early on the day, I was like, man, the ears are pinned. And then the course got harder, it held up. I thought both parfives on the back, played hard, I'd call out Sam Burns, he buried both 14 and 17. I thought that was kind of, I'd have to look at the numbers, but it felt like I test-wise
gaining on the field, everybody was struggling with that bunker on 14. So the course held up, but that led to a little bit of the, you know, maybe some of this is the telecast as well, feeling like you're stuck in neutral, like, there's nobody do something, you know what I mean? It was a lot of like, and shout out to Bryce, you made it ton of big parfuts, but it had
a little bit more of a, I don't know, a grindy U.S. open field to it today on that back 9.
“Which I think is such a funny contrast with a lot of the, a lot of the commentary, and I hate”
launching immediately into just like commentary and reaction to commentary and reaction to reaction to reaction to reaction to coming on, but I just, I, I feel, I feel a little crazy at times this week where I'm just like, it's easy in the morning, and it's not easy in the afternoon. And I'm like, I think that's like pretty, pretty cut and dry.
You know, the 62 was, it was the best round of the day by three or four shot, I get, it was, but three shots, 'cause San Bernard shot 65, but it's like, nobody else was even close to that, Foxy made a gazillion puts, it's not, it's, I get it, it's, it's a little softer than people would like, and I think I tend to be in that camp as well, but it's not a, it's not TPC-Burkdale, man, it's, it's, it's not, there was consequence out there this afternoon.
There, it was an interesting still like display of different strategies out there. You saw how Scottie and Tommy played today versus how Bryson certainly, but also even like Jackson Super and Herbert were playing more aggressive, and you've seen people's aggression kind of changed throughout the week, I just think there's still a lot more that meets the eye to this place that I've, I've still really enjoyed watching, and I don't think it's
Some sort of free crack give away, and I think people see 62 and they freak t...
which I guess is understandable to three of them, but I just don't think, I don't think
all 62s are like, created equal, I guess.
“Well, yeah, there's, I think there's a big difference in like, hey, one or two, and this,”
you know, on a daily basis, one or two guys out of like a wave of like 78, or, you know, 34 in the morning, whatever it is this morning, one or two of them played an excellent excellent round. And for me, personally, I don't care what that number actually ends up being. Where the problem comes in is like, hey, the dude that had like the 18th best round was like
65 today. Like that's where it, like, dude, we, the, the median level of play here is too low, and it's really hard to separate. And we're just probably not headed towards interesting golf, like compared this leaderboard right now, I know it's part 72 versus part 70, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, like there's one
player better than eight under par, like one of the, one of the, one of the majors, we were the hardest on set up wise scoring wise championship test wise was Valhalla in 2024. And there were 16 guys at 10 under par or lower after three rounds in that tournament. Like that, that was the one where it was like, dude, if you're not shooting three or four
“under, you're losing massive amounts of ground, like you should 67's out here in this”
tournament, you should three of them, you're in second place right now. That's a good, good
golf tournament if you ask me. And yeah, but it is interesting to me if like in the whole distance debate and discussion, which we have stayed away from all this entirely this week of like, how upset people get when somebody is taking it low, should be, the, like, the sales pitch we've gotten is like, yeah, everybody loves birdies, everybody loves the low scoring. It's like, people freak the fuck out. We will care about par too. And, like,
put that on the block. We, that is not a selling point at this point of like watching guys just hair places apart. So, and to put the blame on golf courses for that, is my opinion is completely misguided. And just like you said, you know, watching the difference of this golf course without much defense in the early part of the day into just like a little bit of wind. Like, that's not that much wind. Like, they've, they've had wind, but it's
not been dramatic. Frankly, we played in much stronger winds, but we were in Northwest
England two months ago. And at the same time, like, this, this golf course more than stood up this afternoon. And there was one really good round. I was saying, but it's at the round of the day, if you ask me, I know Foxy shot lower, but like, the do it in that spot, man, I, that is, that was some of the most serious golf, I would, you know, hot take would be, like, this was a better round of golf than his 62 yesterday. One, we didn't see the 62,
but like, it is so different to do it in the back half post 3 p.m. or whatever post 2 p.m. tea time that he had today. And like, Foxy's got to go do that tomorrow. Like, he gets a, it does not have the morning tea time tomorrow. Burns did it today. Like, hats off to him. And I'm stoked to see him bounce back this quickly after shinacock. Can I, I will say this though, and this is part of Lynne's golf. You know, he heard, it's Patrick talk about it, but
“that you, I think the optics of the rough, not being super keen is, is a has a massive impact on”
this discourse that we're talking about. And, and Burns got some breaks today. He had it way left on 10 was a 10. No, nine. I think he hit away left on that. And he played 17, like, they were talking about on the broadcast, smiley and backs. It was good back and forth. Like, I don't know what he's doing here. He took iron off a 17 missed it left. And he tried to like, he hit push on 17. He was up the left side. You're right. But then he tried to push a, I think a six iron, like, way up there.
And they couldn't figure out, hit that way left. And that comes to rest, like, you know, you get, you get a few breaks in this rough. And it can, and then he hit a great shot from there, made birdy. So, I think the fact that guys are able to get out of jail when they blow it into the crowds up on the dunes. There's, it seems like more often than not there, you know, unless you're Bryce and Mrs. Wright on five coming out with like a, you know, a pretty good chance to get the ball
on the green. More often than not, not all the time. So, I think that's impacting the, maybe the, the, the course discourse, if you will. So, this, the dig off had the, the missed fairway penalty at point four shots, which is stronger than a normal PGA tour course, notably stronger than deep rough around a make that we saw earlier this year. So, that's, just to, and I think that that's, including Miss, Miss missing in fairway bunkers, which is obviously a much stronger
punishment than missing the fairway. But that is still part of, to your point though, like, the biggest flaw, I think, and we can understand the natural nature of it. It is what we've got. So, it's like throw the rough up. I'm just saying, I don't know. I think if you're just flipping this on, you're like, oh, man, it is, it should be punished for that. You know, it's hard to watch wide misses go. Yeah, he's fine there, right? But I think what the wind has given us is when you do
get way out of position later in the day, even that little bit of wind, it has made those shots from out of position that much harder. Like, it is, you know, especially if you're downwind, like holding the ball on the greens gets a lot more challenging. Guys are having no problem holding these greens from the fairway, but if you get the wind going the wrong direction, just watching
Balls land into 14 today, the second or third shots in there with the wind co...
I know the greens haven't been as firm as some people would like, but you'd lay it at a ball with
the wrong spin on that green. It was not holding. Like it would straight up. And it was great. And it hit. Yeah. That bunker was eating people alive in front of that pin. That was great. And you know what I loved was downwind 115 on seven. Yeah. Was a fun one. It was, I was giving guys fits. They were all trying to like lay off like sand wedges. You know, it's just, it looked like a lot of guys making uncommitted swings there. And Jack's super looked like his, like, his,
the level of his head dropped, like, I know his knees. He's like, he was, he was wishing that one on the green. It was great. It was great. Yeah. If we bring in our fourth, our fourth, have we heard from
“him? He's, he's here. He's in the room. He's in the room with us right now. Where is he, is the question?”
Will he, or won't he? Well, I appreciate what he's appreciated. Three, eight, eight, eight,
appropriate flight. Can you guys hear me? Oh, my gosh. We're going to be bird. Crazy. Yeah. I got this whole place to myself. It's wild. What is it? Seven C is that your seat seven A. Usually, well, that's, that's on, that's on domestic flight. If I don't get upgraded normally I'm, I am Mr. five five L. I'm just my house. Okay. Yeah. For the folks listening on the audio, T.C. Is, do you have a statement you'd like to issue? Yeah. I was watching it with my
son, Fred, today. And like, he was, like, rooting Tommy on and he's like, man, like, this is all, and I was like, I don't want to leave. I just didn't want to, like, even when, I don't know, Scotty, or Tommy was, was playing really well early in the back nine there. And, um, you know, just hitting the shots. And I just thought, you know what? Like, and Fred, he asked me, he's like, "Dad, can we watch the golf?" And like, I really want to see Tommy, how's Tommy doing? And I was like, man, that's sick.
Like, he's, he plays golf, but he's not really into watching pro golf, at least until Sunday afternoon, like, 4/30 or 5. And, uh, yeah. And then I figured, man, it was just like, there were thunderstorms up the east coast today. I was going to miss my connection to Munich. And, uh, and then I was going to have to drive down to Orlando. And, and, and, oh, she's like, you know what, like, I just want to, and I think we're going to say, you know, you see, you know, I mean, it has to be other, but maybe
“uh, you're not paying it. And what cost? That's what you're going to have to have those things in”
areas. Uh, I can honestly say, if not for the international feed, for the world feed, and the feature groups, I probably would be on an airplane right now, because, uh, like, it's, it's been a delight to watch the sky feed and, and, you know, all of that versus what, what NBC subjecting is to. So we can get there later though. Well, you're not going to, you're not going to, you're not going to, uh, skate on that diminishment of Foxy 62 either. Yeah, would you think of the
great man Foxy today, TC? But it was inspired stuff. Uh, I don't, I mean, it's, listen, we, we've been over it. The greens aren't quite as like they've been putting more water on them than I think they probably should be, but otherwise, I like to set up. And, sorry, I think you're spot on like, you got to go get it. The best guy, you know, minus 10 is leading two guys at minus 8 65 6667. Those
“are very good scores. Um, but if you want to pin your ears back and get the momentum going,”
you can. There's just some booby traps there. I wish there was a little bit more penalty like you said, Neil, for wide misses. Uh, but the wind's not blowing and the rough down. So it is what it is. It's forged by nature, except for the greens. Uh, I thought Foxy was brilliant today. It was absolutely brilliant. And he's played his way into this thing with a 62, a meaningful 62. Yeah, we had, uh, he was even par. We had, uh, no, we said minus, we said even par was too far back.
Last night, um, we didn't, he was, I think he was 750 to one, uh, to win the championships starting today. I believe as right now, he's plus, uh, he's seven and half to one. So he's cut his odds by whatever that map is, uh, a hundred times, uh, just in, in 18 holes of golf. So it was, it was
incredible around a golf. And we did say last night, I was like, there, there is the conditions
are going to be easy in the morning. Somebody might be doing it. We, we talked ourselves into it being roaring. It most certainly was not. But, um, I, I was, I was, I was 99% sure that's where you were going to start deflection wise. T.C. instead of addressing the Tommy situation. Oh, it's Tommy wise. It was exactly what was witnessed over the last. Like that, that was the Tommy experience. Like DJ, I'll put it to you. I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't like it.
I don't like it. Yeah, I joined you at the beginning of the week on like, you know what? I'm I'm, I'm a romantic as well. I'm, I'm, I'm picking Tommy. What a story it would be. And every,
I don't think he's, like, it doesn't until, I mean, the shot on 14 today, the...
it's just long, long stretches where it's like this guy is, it's not capable of missing a shot.
“It's, it's, it's really fun to watch and everything sought off. All those kind of like half”
midirones that he's hitting to just perfect distances. He's scaring a lot of the pots. He's not making all the ones he should make, but he's scaring a lot of those long ones. And it's just, it's invigorating. The whole crowd is, is, is, you know, they're singing writer cup chance to him as he's walking up. It is absolute scenes. T.C. and I've, I got fully, fully, fully wrapped up in it the last two days. And to see a missed one on 16 yesterday was just like, I hate this. Why do I,
why am I doing this to myself? And then seeing him doing it on 14 today, granted he got it up and down for part, but it was like, it's just, I even called out to you guys, because I, I felt like
Charlie Brown, like, about to go run up to the football. But like, look, I know that this is how it works.
I know we're about to get rug pulled here. I know, I've, I've done all the reading. I've washed all the history. I understand, but like, man, it, this guy looks comfortable right now. Having said all that, this guy looks really comfortable. And he immediately dumps to that bunker with a wedge. 14. It's like, it's, I don't know, shifts of of he who must not be named,
“who we utilize yesterday. I think it's just the, the heart wants it. The eyes want it. The brain”
knows probably what's about the happen. But man, it's been a really unride and we're not, we're not out of it. We're not out of it yet. We're dead, but we got six, six, six or back. Yeah, we got one more, put the heart back in and then rip it back out. We got one more run. He makes about seven runs perturnement. If we've, if we've been on this roller coaster before, and if, how Tony Fee now got the reputation amongst you guys for throwing it in reverse after a hot run, I don't know. But he does it every
time. Like, there's zero, zero percent chance he's not three under through five tomorrow. Like, he will 100%. If he goes and does his, his Chinatown 63 tomorrow, if he shoots 63 tomorrow, Sam Burns has got a shoot 67 to beat him. You know, it's not guaranteed. Sam Burns got in what's 62 to 65. Hard to back up too low. What, you know, he's actually hard to back it with 62 to what, apparently not pre-most spot for that top 10, though, just sitting at T9. Oh, top five. Yeah. It's got it's comfy. The
most frustrating part was like, I was totally at a user, you know, at piece with like, he's going to win this thing. And I'm not going to be there. And I'm going to be watching when with my family and the back porch on the couch. And it's going to be great. And then even when he hit that shot on 15, that chip on 15. Oh, uh, and of course, like he missed the punt, but I'm like, man, that chip was awesome. All right, we're back. We're back. That's momentum. And then, you know,
stuff sit on like, like, oh, damn near him, tries to hold it a couple of times coming in 17. Yeah. And then, you know, that was when, you know, he damn near holes at NBC's and in playing through the chance or loud. He's coming up to the green, all of that. Maybe a team need a big pot to keep it in it. But, uh, I was, I was pretty, I was pretty jazzed up after the birdy on seven. Because Neil, Neil, do your point. I thought that was one of the most interesting
holes of the day with how short it was downwind, you know, just a gnarly little one. And, um, yeah. So anyway, we're, we're T9 and we're how many back four back five back five back. I think if you
“want to, if you want to be critical, I like, I don't think he's played. This hasn't been like losers.”
He has a driven it well. He's been, he's been on a lot of a six to three to sixty third off the team. So yeah, could be a lot of that. He's not pushing it up there, too. That's exactly what I was
going to say. I think if you wanted to be critical, it's like, it didn't get nine or 10. He's laying
it back a lot. It's a lot of like, man, if they were playing at Shinnikark, I think you'd be winning by five. You're technically playing the golf course as it's, uh, you know, as it's laid out, but I'm like, uh, some other guys are just taking more risk, man, and, and able to push it up there farther and it just puts a lot of pressure on continuing to hit those irons as, as good as he has. Oh, and it's, he's, he's so accurate with driver that it's, that's the kind of frustrating
part that he's not, I don't know. That, that, that's the part, I do, I don't like questioning strategy just because, like, these, like, filling in Tommy and like, yeah, the questioning Tommy's strategy, like on, like, a golf, seems silly, but having watched all the other players hit as many drivers as they have and seeing the, the lack of rough penalty, like we've talked about. I, I, maybe that's it. Like, he's, he's so accurate that his inaccurate shots are likely to more, more likely to end up in the
bunkers. Fairways in the bunkers instead of in the rough that, you know, he's got to think about it. We're still doing different. Yeah. We're starting to soon. Well, I do want to say one, one highlight for me is, the, like, kind of deep-throwed cheers for Tommy. It's not Tommy. It's like, it's like,
Tommy, it's like, it's almost, it's like, Tommy, come on, Tommy, come on, wai...
From the English. It's great. I think, I mean, overall, he's answered the bell. It's been, I can't imagine how draining this week is, and it seems like he's used the crowd the correct way to, you know, like, he's leaned into it. It's tough to do, and it seems like he's enjoying the week, which I love. He said, he said, no, I don't feel pressure.
I felt nerves this week in excitement and adrenaline, but that's my own expectations. The crowd have been incredible. They've made a massive difference to me.
I said, over there, whatever happens tomorrow, like, like yesterday evening, the first tea, everything today, when I was in contention,
“that stuff I'll have for life to be honest. How many people in the golfing world get to experience that with the crowd that much on your side?”
It's been very special weeks, me no matter what. If I can get it tomorrow, I could make it even more special. We'll see. TC, I don't know how we found ourselves in this Sam Burns vs. Tommy heads up, but every week, but that's proved to be very prescient. I don't know if we need to do a little say something nice about Sam Burns challenge, but I feel like he's, I feel like he's winning you over. Yeah, he's definitely one more respect of, he's, like, he just hasn't gone away. He's stuck his nose right in it.
I'm, it's like, all joking aside with the Foxy stuff. I thought Burns was 65. The day was
the round of the day considering the circumstances and everything. It's much different. Tien off at 9 a.m. vs. 2 p.m.
And, you know, once the ball, man, like, that's the thing with Burr. He just looks like he wants it. He looks, the higher the pressure gets, the harder it looks like he swings in terms of, like, this will not be a, if I'm going down, I'm going down hard. All right. And he doesn't really go down. Like, he's been close
“without really like melting down on top of himself. And I don't know. I, I think he's, I think he's.”
Well, tomorrow's a Sam Burns and the final group at a major is becoming good theater. You know, it's becoming, it's a thing now. And I'm very, very excited to see how he reacts to that. He's, he says, and I know what to say something nice, but he's not an exciting golfer for me. If that, you know, I don't mean that as a, and I don't mean that as a dish. He's just so above average at, like, everything. It almost blends. You know, it's not, there's not, it's not super loud. It's just really,
really good. So I, yeah, it's an interesting spot for him again tomorrow. I think I've been,
yeah, like he never grabbed me and I never really, I think he always just struck me as kind of a,
like this sounds bad to say, but kind of a dumb redneck when he came out of LSU. And how could
“that sound bad? I don't understand other things. I think there's a lot more, like it seems like there's”
a lot more to him. And he's got some, he's got some substance to him. He's a thoughtful interview. He's a dog. He wants the ball. And yeah, he's, he's like, I think he knows how to hit the right shots. He knows how to hit the proper shots. So Sam Burns, you know, I, I would have no, no issue with him winning tomorrow. In fact, I feel like that's. He's faster. I think that's one of the better outcomes for tomorrow. I think it frames it up in a historical way, better than almost anybody else.
I think that happens tomorrow. You'll find us, you know, around a campfire, cheers, and with each other, grabbing a vodka, seltzer, a vodka, ice tea, maybe a tequila, seltzer, no matter the occasion, high noon has something for you. I reached for the peach today. Today was a peach day, you know, it was, it's, it's a very solid flavor, not my favorite, but a very, but it's above the line for me. Uh, and today just felt like a nice peach day. What do you got? What do you got there, Dege?
Like, I got watermelon today. No, I got, I got watermelon back to the basics. That's a top top two one for me there. If you're looking for your next pack, check out high noon tequila seltzer's fiesta packets and eight pack, or also it comes in the bigger 12 pack for Moss fiesta, all are made with real tequila, real juice, perfect for any fiesta no matter where you plan to throw it. Find the high noon tequila seltzer fiesta pack nearest you at high noon spirits.
Dot com, high noon, suns up, chives. Well, one more thing on Sam Burns, uh, I, we got, got, I'm really curious to see if the British press gets a hold of. I mean, they, you know, with Harmon. I can totally punch themselves out on that one. I need to talk about, you know, there's a lot of like, uh, you know, we have to apply the rules fairly. Everybody's stopping their their lives now. Well, I think this isn't that same category. Okay. You know,
it's with, will it, uh, what they call Harmon, the blitz blitz blitz blitz blitz. Yeah, Brian the blitz sure. Yeah, of course is John Robb, who didn't, who actually, I think John Robb and Sam Burns, you could tie these together. I think what I like about Sam Burns and what I like about Foxies round, I think putting these greens is an immense skill. And some of these guys look absolutely
Flumixed by, by the greens.
it's wrong. It's came young today. There's a couple of these guys that like, I mean, they just look
“lost out there. And, and I think, uh, yeah, I know Sam Burns is hitting the ball amazing as well.”
But I don't know. I think he feels like a not overly technical. Let me just figure out how to get the ball and the whole on the greens type of guy. And I don't think it's coincidence that he's now on 62 65 on these greens. I'm not even supposed to be there. Like, unexpected. This was right around the due date of his daughter. The daughter comes two weeks early and kind of a little bit of a surprise gets, you know, is able, is able to play across the pond. Like, this is the,
probably seem like a very low odds to himself that that he was going to be able to, to pull this one off in. And that's when you play the best, solid, low expectations man. You know, that's, that's it. So I thought, I was going to say newborn phrases, not when I played my best, but, um, you guys want to get to the, the fest being as, uh, as I should ask you, as I should ask you to, uh, to pronounce that one again. Uh, hell yeah, let's get to him. Bryson did indeed play, uh, despite,
you know, the very, very real threat to not play, uh, last night, uh, showed up on site, you know,
came to the first T, that was in playing through, of course, uh, played it, I mean,
100 points. So fucked up man. That's like straight up. It's so fucked up. I hate, I'm sorry for the language. I hate to be crass. I hate to be, maybe there's something I don't get about this, but I'm like, man, for 12 hours. As a gold fan, I'm just like, is he going to play? Is he not going to play it? What's the crowd going to do? What's he going to look like? Is he going to wave? What's it going to be? And it's in a fucking playing through on NBC. And I'm just, like, that was the moment
I was like, yo, I'm, I'm not doing this. Like, I had to fire up. Peacock, I had to go to a different TV where I had peacocked and installed and like, go to the sky feed. It's just a, it's a nightmare. That's like, I know a lot of times we're just like, oh, I can't believe they, they, they mispelled this name on the graphics. Like, what a disaster. I'm like, this is like storytelling stuff. And usually what I would give NBC a lot of credit for, I thought they were awesome yesterday on, like, when
“news is breaking, I think NBC's really good. You know, and I think CBS is that way, too, but when,”
when it's like a, we're locked in on the story, follow us for updates as they develop. I think NBC's really good. And they were really good about that yesterday. And so for them to, to completely miss that, today, it's just like, dude, are we, what are we doing? Where, where we, we're stuck in the middle again here. And it just, anyways, it was very emblematic of just kind of a, a rudderless sort of experience. We don't know how I got Kizner clapping at solid from the booth during the broadcast.
Listen, and defensive kids, I'm going to throw them a bone here. They got like 11 guys in there. He's got some serious breaks to fill. You know what I mean? Like, come on, it's like, we're going to kick it over to Terry and Brad for 15. And, and Kizner's just scroll, he was just, yeah, clapping back at me. Yeah, like, hold on guys, yeah, go over it, go over the other side of the booth. I'm going to, I got some stuff to handle here. Yeah. So they opened the broadcast, you know,
with Mike Terree, or was it Terrico? No, it was Dan Hicks with them, you know, opened the NBC, or when that team came in, I guess, because Terrico was originally on, but that team came on. They did a recent kind of introducing this, this whole thing. Hicks, he's Kizner up. He says, obviously, from the Bryson standpoint, nobody likes to see him walking in there. Like,
he's a WWE wrestler going into his first match, high stepping through the grass,
through the high grass, no other players doing that. And he says, I wish the walking
“official was over there during this. Every group has a walking official. Why is he not part of this?”
It was obviously an awkward situation. We have officials in every group. He should be over there. So we're not having to do all this post-round. If the walking official was there, he could explain to everyone and had eyes on it. So we didn't have to use video cameras. I think that was a big miss. And then we're going, let her say, every time you're back home, and you call an official in, I know Bryson didn't call an official in, but lots of guys were over there.
The official could have easily walked over there. They remind you, hey, you're a penalty area. Hey, don't knock and limbs off the trees. Things like that. It's very often that happens. Which this was a lot of stuff to pre-cron. A lot of stuff there. And this was my opinion that I stated on this was like, well, that was like a little bit on like Bryson breaking a rule here. And like we had a whole massive performative will here. Won't he withdraw?
They went back out onto this. Like the scene yesterday was the ruling going back out there. And I thought that was a pretty massive story. And like that was kind of their
chance to weigh in on that. I thought like NBC did an incredible job last night. Like you said,
golf a life from last night did an incredible job. Amen was great. Brando was great. McGinley was great. Rich, an absolute pro. And I thought this was like a really big moment
For like the lead analyst in the open championship to like weigh in on this.
of the time talking about a walking official there. And how that could have prevented some of this.
“And I don't, I honestly don't even know if I understand what he's talking about.”
Was it that it could have been that the walking official could have penalized him right there. Had he seen it, which to that I would say I don't think it's the walking officials job to like all three players in the group on a Friday watching every single one of their moves and determining whether or not they broke a rule. And also that official didn't have like the dead on face on look that we saw on the television camera one or two, almost like sounded like he was saying that
the rules of official should have been there to warn him like if you step on the grass back there. And I don't want to put words in his mouth, but that's kind of what it felt like in there. And you know like, hey, if you step on the grass here, that's going to be a penalty. It was like, hey, like the rules of golf are on Bryson here. This was not about a walking official in any way. The rules of golf apply to all of us that play this game. Like with if I go
break this rule, it's not going to be a rules officials fault for not calling it out in the moment or something like that, which was my opinion, kissing her clap back with, yeah, you guys have, you know, with all of your experience and your tour starts was like the typical athlete thing of like we're not going to debate the actual topic here. It's your disqualified. I know what I'm talking about. You play we play a different game up here. So super disrespectful. Like I've already
put a rule that they usually don't enforce even. Yeah. You understand the rules don't apply to us here because, you know, somebody like, if I was a dual player, I'd hit people without a lot too. I got to say it. If it was about like strategy or like, I did see how to hit it. How to hit a technique or, you know, what it's like to be under. I can't comment on any of those things. I can't comment on your role as a media person and your opinion that you gave out on this matter. Like, this was not,
I was not the only one that had this opinion as well. Sports Illustrator wrote this up of like, how bizarre this was of like, what was that about? Like I don't understand it. I really didn't understand it. So, Sally, I thought like I was actually impressed with Kisner that he came out and said,
hey, like basically Bryce was in the wrong. He clearly broke the rule here. That was started there.
That was where he started and I was like, oh, hell yeah. Like, all right, I was expecting Kisner to, you know, like, I'm fascinated to see what Scotty says about all of this. Like he, you know, he rightfully deferred everything until after the tournament. But like I was pretty disappointed in some of this stuff, Henley and Max were saying after their rounds today. Like, where like, and, you know, maybe we do the Roy stuff now, maybe we do it in a little bit. But like,
“I think everybody's got an opinion on this and I would say 80, 80% of the tour guys I've talked to,”
both PJ tour, DP World Tour, Cornfair, whatever, or, you know, veterans who who are now retired, like 80 out of 10 of them have been like, oh yeah, like that's so fucking out of bounds there. Like, well, just close the loop on this. I want to clarify like, I, I think this was a shame. Like, I hate X for a lot of reasons, but this being one of them is like, I'm a fan of Kevin Kisner. I think he's a great personality. I think like, I think he has a role in television. I've said this
before and I'll say again, like, I think the lead, the part of the reason why I'm critical of this is like,
I think it is contrasting at times for him to be the lead analyst of NBC and major championships. When like, for this reason exactly, I think this probably, the lead analyst here should have taken this in a different direction. It's like, my critique there. So I think it's a really big spot for him. And I don't think that analysis and commentary met the moment here. When you're introducing and bringing this topic to the network television audience that might be taking it in for the first time,
I didn't feel like that met the moment. That's my opinion. I'm sure you're going to opinion on this. I would agree with you, Sally. And what I would say is, I've never really heard of the walking referee or rules guy is not a soccer referee. No, they're not out there hitting yellow
“card. They're not referees. They're there to like, like, yo, if you need me call for me, that's how it's like,”
so for a pro golfer to like, relate it like that. It just, that didn't make any sense to me. So yeah, he's not a consultant or he's not a, yeah, it's it's, I think, Sally, everything too is like, kids are saying that he slept or you, he went to bed earlier. Yeah, that's night and they're all this. Yeah, and that's like, yeah, I'm putting that aside, even, of all that, just like, try to meet in the middle here of like, I, I, I, again, I think this is
like the example of like why we're critical of him at times, we're critical of NBC at times,
like, this, this felt feels, fails to have met the moment in my opinion. But again, I think he has a role in television. Like, I think he's got a great personality. I think NBC does not put him in a good position because he doesn't think of put anybody in a good position to succeed with how many people they have in the booth, we've covered that on repeat. But that just felt like, I don't know, I, if you can't tell, I don't like that, that constant attitude, like, hey, I'm trying to talk about
topic here and the, I play on tour you didn't, you're not qualified to ever have an opinion on anything is, is pretty disrespectful. So to be fair, he also takes his analysis in that direction, like, often as well. Like some of the stuff that he says and taking the player side and stuff,
DJ, I thought you said a great thing earlier today, went, it was Tureko and K...
early on. And it was like, wait, like, how fucked up is this that we're going from Tureko and, and Birem does a great job and, like, engine, like, we're, we're taking them off screens so that we can bring in the quote unquote, 18. I don't know how the 18 doesn't include the guy who has done this for so long, but also does the Olympics and also does it in an equal ball and again and two, like, it's just, it's just a very weird. We're going to replace him in the
aggregate, Sally. Yeah, I guess with numbers. I do want to talk a little bit before we get to the Rory stuff and some of the commentary. I, I thought Bryce had a really gritty round. He's like great. He's uttered early, but man, he made so many big parputs except for 18. You know, his getting out of jail on 14 was really impressive from that bunker.
So, you know, just credit to him because he's not on 15 was incredible. Yeah, and he is hitting
“it's so funny because he's like really mechanical and I think, you know, I said, like his driver”
set up looks like a hydraulic arm on a trash truck. Like, you know, he's like lifting up you know, and that, but then he hits like some really artistic stuff too, like he's hitting some some cuts, he's shaping the ball, you know, but then yeah, like so it's it's like, it's all, it's, uh, it's, uh, it is magnetic to watch and I was really impressed with he got off to a bad start and I, I kind of felt like he was going to fold a little bit and he didn't, he showed a ton of grid on the
back nine. He totally agree until 18, really. He like, he hasn't had that big left ball going that we've seen from him when he gets into contention majors lately of like that boy can't keep off the left, but ever adjustments he's made of equipment wise, which we know he, the crank driver and he thinks or whatever, like it's been a good adjustment for him. It's in state him driver out there.
“So I, I would actually say, I think on 18 he lost his focus. He started playing in the crowd,”
started, you know, kind of, I don't, I don't say mocking the rules official, but a little bit of theater there on 18. He started with, and then he's, you know, he's walking up 18. He's waving the crowd and then he just, yeah, he kind of just hit a bad chip like that was, it seemed like he just got a little, lost in the in the performance there. The image of the screen right out. Keep in mind, Sam birds is two shots clear of the field. It's a Saturday GI walk up the
Bryson three back of him. Bryson goes first and like the applause that they save for like the
the guy leading the open, and this isn't the Sunday walk, but like the guy, you get your 54 whole walk. You're going to take a lead into the final round of the open chip. Bryson goes first, takes the hat off, weighs at the crowd, flashes the thumbs up at him, as if it's all for him. That would floored me. That absolutely rocked me, like just content king. Him doing the tiptoe through the fescue. Do it this. It's, it's very, uh, bigger.
Work it on. He's working his thumbnails optimization. You know, we're, we're trying some stuff. He's like Bill Murray and Kingpin. This is very much what it's starting to, starting to feel like.
God. I finally above the wall. Yeah, I'm finally above the wall.
Let's get to the, let's get to the Rory video. Let's get to Rory. Yeah, let's, let's go for that. So I was watching it live. I was up in the players. Longed watching it with a few other players, and as soon as he made the step into the ball, we all sort of looked each other and were like, I didn't seem right. And then when I heard that he was, you know, he was called in by the
“Roryals officials. I think we all, it was pretty obvious for why. And yeah, I mean, I think,”
you know, I think there's no doubt that he improved the line of his back swing. So, you know, and again, it's like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don't think it matters. Hopefully it was careless. But I think the two shot penalty was justified for sure. Well, what do you think the scenes after obviously you guys would delay getting your T times as well because of what we're going on? Well, I, for everyone. Yeah. Um, yeah. I, like, I, you know,
I won't pretend to be up here in defense, Bryson. I'm not particularly fond of him. Um, I think a lot of it's performative. Uh, I think a lot of it's for attention. And yeah, you know, to, to hold the tournament hostage like that and have all of us volunteer players, everyone winning on them to the park. I didn't feel like it was a great look. Look, he's going to say, like, again, I don't, I'm not in his mind. I'm not in his, it, but it didn't look good.
A lot in that. For you, for him, I'll be winning me back. It hit, it hits a lot harder when you see the video of it. Um, that, I don't know that those. Like, it's, it's refreshing to hear someone
Speak directly like this.
with Rory and has he been performative, sure, but like, I don't think anything he's saying there's wrong.
“And like, if we, these, I think you said earlier, if we can't agree that Bryson's”
not performative, then like, what, I don't know if there's, is there any truth left in this world? Yeah, I don't think words mean anything. If we can't all be like, like, and that's, I'm not even saying that's a bad thing. Like, he's, he's, he's tiptoeing through the, like, through the fest queue. And really, for for me, he's, yeah, like, he's the guy who makes YouTube videos. He's the guy who did the bacon frying video. He's the guy who wears the stupid hats. He's the guy who, he does, like,
if we can't agree. Yeah, if we can't agree, I'm not even saying it pejoratively, but it's like, if we can't agree that he's performative, then it's like, okay, then we, we can't say this guy's blue. We can't say that up his up down is down. Like, nobody can agree on anything. Like, that's the part that I'm like, you can have all the brain worms you want for, like, Rory's actually horrible. Uh, but man, he, you can't deny that he's, the use of that word is,
“it's spot on. I think we need to, I think we need to start there, probably.”
And it really is, he makes a clear statement on this. And there's one part that's just not necessary. I'm like, yeah, I'm not really fond of him. Like, he could have made the point without saying that. I would argue that I love that he did. I think that that's like the, that's my favorite part of it, not in some mean-spirited way. It's like, hey, like, he's providing context. He's getting it out there. Like, hey, this is, this is the angle that I'm coming at it from. I'm not particularly fond of this guy,
but, um, but yeah, like, this is, this is how I feel. Like, you ask me the question, this is, you know, and, and, and I don't know, he could have, he could have deflected it and said, hey, I'll talk about it on Sunday night, but, you know, he didn't feel like it. And I, I imagine he probably would have if he was T4, but good on him for something for us, speaking on it. Contrast that with Scotty, who just refused to speak on it publicly, um, and-
Which I also didn't have a problem with that. Yeah, I got it. It was, was thoughtful about how he said that. He's like, I have, well, I do have a lot of thoughts. I just don't feel like doing it right now. Like, there's, you know, and then actually at the very end of the Scotty clip, a report was like, so follow up in a, a week or two and- Yeah. I think you're gonna, yeah, and then the video cuts off media studies class, but I think once you get to, I think once once players see how Scotty handles stuff like that, I just think you're going to see a lot more of that,
where you see like, oh, man, if I do it with grace, I don't really have to talk about anything because I, I was listening to Scotty. I'm like, I'm fascinated what the number one player in the world has to say about the integrity of the competition and did one of the other players in contention, bend the rules. Should they've been penalized? Was it fair? How do you feel about this as a player? Like,
I have a million questions about what Scotty feels and thinks about that, but I also have immense
sympathy for him being like, hey, I'm trying to win the championship. I'm trying to go win a major unsaid here, but basically between the lines is like, if I say something, it's going to turn into a huge shit storm, and I just don't really need that distraction. And I'm going to try to focus on making some pots.
“Is that what I'm like? Ah, I don't get that. I don't get it. I don't get it. I get it. That's what I love.”
I love that Royce. It's like fucking ring it dude. Ring it. I do not care. I do not care about your little egg avatars coming up. I do not care. You just jose because he's playing better than you. Which there's this thing going around about Roy hitting the sand on a backswing. Have you got seen this this thing going around? I don't think there's I've seen the chatter. There's a ton of chatter on it.
All I can tell is that somebody's weak. So here's what I think happened. This far as I can tell. There's
like an AI screenshot, AI summary screenshot going around of Roy hitting the ball, hitting the sand on a backswing at some point at Burkedale. But like, if you like find the link, and I went search of the video, couldn't find it anywhere. If you go searching in the links for it, it brings up the bunker shot. He hit last week at the Scottish Open, where he spun it really hard, and it's like he accidentally hit the sand and the club bounced off the sand and it nipped it perfectly
and it spun really hard. But like AI is taking that and blending it with like, yes, he accidentally hit the sand and making it about the backswing. And every all the bots are screenshotting this, sending the same screenshot of the AI thing around saying that you know, the RNA is burying the Roy thing and penalizing Bryson, which look, if there is video, please send it my way. I just have not seen any evidence that he's scraping the sand away. I think the AI deep fakes were going to come
for golf rules. Maybe they're not AI deep fakes. Maybe it's just Lady J and she's leveraging her entire platform with AI. And to the point, it's like, I saw, you know, so, well, if this was anybody of them Bryson, like, honestly, like, I thought about that all last night. I'm like, if it was, I'd feel the same way. Like, Lowry. Like, yes, yeah, last year, Lowry. Yeah, it's like, do the ball move. Sorry. That sucks. But like, that's a stroke. Can't be on a Cadillac. Like,
Oh, move, man.
he's like, if this was Roy, you'd be, you'd, you'd forgive it. Hey, if Roy does this,
takes rules of visuals out there, does all of this clearly threatens not to play. It goes and hits balls profoundly into the dark for an hour after the round threatening not to play, won't confirm as of last night holds up the entire field, getting tea time, because he won't confirm if he's going to continue the champ. When Roy does that, we will call him out. It's like, what he peeled out of the parking lot. Yes. Oh, you're not for a duel once. Yeah. You guys, what's your
probably just, because because you lost your phone, no, because don't like, yeah, you've got to show grids, man. But it, oh, yes. Sorry. That's disgusting. I still don't understand how Windom
“stepping directly behind his ball at the end, so it's been, was different. But I think take that”
offline. No, you can't sprinkle that in there and take that offline. Like, it, one is extremely conclusive evidence of down a lot. We're watching the grass bend backwards from Bryson and the Windom thing is, like, totally. Yeah. The Windom thing is, if there's not multiple angles that show,
like that level of improving the backs. And the first of all, it's not like waste high for Windom,
like it is for Bryson. And it, like, it was just such a weird thing. It was like directly behind it. It's not comfortable, but I agree with Soli here. Like, I don't think you're wrong to be like, ah, you know, it's uncomfortable, but it's like, I don't think there was enough evidence with Bryson. And some of it is, I hate to say this, but it's like, well, now we do cameras everywhere. It's like, well, some of it is like, yo, if your, like, if cameras are on you, like heavy is the crown, baby.
And like, that's, you can't just not enforce the rules, right? Because some people might be getting away with it. Like, that doesn't work for me either. I totally agree on that front. Like, the, you know, some guys have the camera on them more often. Cool. Like, that means the best players and like,
they've, they've earned. So sometimes, a penalty doesn't matter if you're for off the cut line.
Like, it just doesn't. Like, we're not, we're not, we're not like saying it's okay to cheat. If you get for off the cut line, I'm saying, but it's just like part of the, part of the nature of the game is like, if we are going, if there's going to be evidence out there, if you clearly breaking a rule, then you're going to get penalized for it, right? And yes, is it a little unfair, but also like, that's there, almost to protect you. Like, otherwise, you broke a rule and just got
away with it. Like, what, what's the goal of that? Like, that's, that's, that's not honest. That's like, it's a, well, you fall in the forest game. Like, I, I was wondering this this morning. Like, Bryson was so, you know, he was like, he was not stepping gingerly, right? And what if it is just like effort? Like, it's a little bit of, like, are you, it's a little bit of acting, you know, where are you like performance? Yeah. Are you making an effort to like, I'm stepping over here?
You know, like, some of this does come down to that. And I, you know, you look at the clip of him, you're like, man, that's just like, you're just, I don't know if you're just not thinking man, but you can't do it like that. Like, that's not how it works. In that exact spot, that minimum
“Bryson has to show care around the lot. That's what I'm getting at. That is, that is the most”
damning part of it is like, you can't, you can't dispute whether or not it laid down the grass enough to affect his backswing. Like, I, I think that is a fair thing to dispute. We don't like indisputable evidence on that. But you cannot dispute that he was not careful enough. He brought this into question to the point where people thought that the rules of Israel thought there was a violation. And they are also a game of honor. Like, if, if it's, hey, you know what, man,
there's a chance that, that, that, that did affect it. Cool. I'm going to accept the penalty. Like, that's the thing, like, it's been so flipped on its head as a sport. Yes. It's on everyone else to prove that that I did something wrong. Instead of making best efforts to play by the rules and and go out of your way to appear as though you are playing by the rules. Man, I also just, I go back to, you know, this is an internet social media larger cultural thing probably. But the,
the amount of, I got so many texts today that were like, I don't know, man, that doesn't look that different from like what I do on the course. It's like, well, you probably don't know the rules as well as the guy that are, the guys that are enforcing it. And that's kind of how I feel too.
“And this is why I turned into such an imposter with where did it cross Twitter, where was there?”
I'm just like, yo, I, I shouldn't be making this call. I don't know. I don't know. But like, the guy, there was six or seven rules officials whose job it is, who the last fucking thing they want to do is bring the shit storm onto themselves. Like, they don't want to give that penalty. They're not just like, licking their chops, looking for a way to get to insert themselves into this. But guys that literally right the rules, or most people on planet earth, at enforcing the way
the rules are written and what is and what isn't. And it's just when you get people on Twitter, just like, I don't know man, I agree to disagree. How's he supposed to line up his ball? It's like, well, dogs, like you're not technically, you're, you're not guaranteed to just have like a fucking runway
Of your ball to do your pre shot routine.
they don't, you don't get to chop the tree down so that you can do your whole pre shot. That's not
how it works. You might have to take those texts too. And it's like, yo, it's coming from, you know, friends, it's like, well, you're playing like the whatever ball you found in the woods, you can't do that either. You know, right? You guys see that? It's not the rule. Like, you know, there's a one ball rule that you don't even know. Like, it's, it's, it might be like to max his point because he, he had some
“takes as well. I think he's, what I interpreted with Max, which I disagreed with his like the rule,”
he doesn't, it seemed like he disagreed with the rule itself. Like, oh, it's for like the junior golfer that's like that there was intent involved. And it's like the fact is the intent doesn't matter here. You know, you know, they made abundantly clear. Yeah. And I think gave him an out on like this
was, he, he, there was no malicious intent here. This was an accidental improvement of the lie,
which, this is the same as pulling your club back and knocking leaves off or whatever. You know, it's not what you're doing that on purpose, but that's still still the rule, which a couple of things there. Mark Darwin, CEO of our night today said it's a clear cut decision. That's one, two. We didn't talk about this last night, but like the language the RNA came out with of like, they said inadvertently was kind of like that, that theorizing here, that had to be what was
under, like the disc, what was under such discussion late into the night last night had to be
“around what the statement's going to be. Because like he, honestly, that I understand from Bryson's”
standpoint of like, this is a shitstorm for me. And the last thing I need is being perceived as a cheater here. And like getting that language into it was probably a foul call thing. I would imagine. And like that, that probably was a lot of the hold up and a lot of the, you know, whatever it brasmat has, what's the word I'm looking for around around the whole thing. Hall of the glue, play chill. Hall of the glue. I would say also though,
Roy had just a little bit of like, I'm going to get the exact words. He said, hopefully it was careless in there. It was very, was the most beautiful way to suggest it might not have been, but I'm not saying that it was intentional, but hopefully it was clear. I'm not at his head. You know, I can't say, I can't say. I can't say. I may get good man. Like, let's get a little get a little action here, Deej, huh? That's right. Turn it off. Roy, turn off that poverty for
me, baby. Yeah. Good stuff. If you're going to be, so when we went, you were actually over in those right tree of the, in that one, when we played it, it can, it can get around your ankles, but like you're going to be pretty heavily protected if you wait in there and you're wearing
“the delts of looper pants. The delts of pants, I believe, for real back. I like just go,”
we've been doing this lately. I want to go around the horn. Everybody quickly shout out one product you're vibin with from our friends at Rowback Neil. I'm going to go with, I mean, the classic, the Hezzy hoodie. I'm wearing one right now, the breath and depth of the color and the options that the, the Hezzy has. I mean, it's the, it's got to be the best seller for, for, for Rowback. Take yourself up a new Hezzy hoodie. Dege. I would shout out, it may look like I'm wearing just a
normal polo, but no, on contrary. This is a sweater polo. It's something a little bit, a little bit elevated, a little, a little warmer for those, you know, when the sun goes down, but maybe you're sitting out on the 19th hole, T.C. It's just, I love these. I can't get enough of the, the sweater polo. They're great, especially up here. T.C. I got to do it to him, the grit short, you know, I'm a dog, I'm a gritty, a little rat. I like the grit short. It's like 98 degrees here and
floated today and the grit short's perfect for it. I'm not been outside yet today, but if I was, the Highlands hoodie would be great, even to go outside in the summer. It's lightweight, but it's just a great hoodie to wear around the house, a little lighter than the Hezzy, little, little, little, little, little bit more substance than the blitz, the tech hoodie. Robac.com, all right, Joe, back.com code NLU gets you 20% off through the end of this week. Again,
code NLU, Robac.com, hello, Cody. What's up, hey, excellent job there. I was worried when we're starting to run out of words there. I think of Rasmataz came across. I feel like that was nearing the end of the segment, but it's only just like we're talking about a lot of subtle dogs out there. We got some dogs in the chat today, but thankfully, Robac's coming through. I got two $150 yards to Robac. Why am I going to give away today? Let's do the drawing here.
And I'm still going to do the drawing. I do have some news as well. THG, we got him as Robac stuff.
It's in the web. It's finally web. One thing good, guys. Mollsy 340, you are winner number one,
please email Cody at nolangup.com. Also, some news. I believe we have reason why Brice and was in conversation with Mark Darwin. He was requesting his, this is per today's golfer. He was
Requesting his scorecard from yesterday.
You know, that's such a good, I'm going to give another one away. All right. Why not?
I feel like trying to get your hands on the physical scorecard for no read. That's essential
stuff and not performative. I just had a horrible comment too. Yeah, this guy sucks. But I think, no, we got to give it to him. We got to play by the rules. Beaver. You've had a lot of bad takes in the chat. I've been following him, but we're not going to, we can't stack the deck that way,
“Cody. That's what he said back. We're just a fire here. This is fair and balanced. I understand.”
I don't like it, though. I'm going to do it. I don't have to like it. Exactly. All three of you, Cody and no link up. Tom, we'll give some pro shop credit away a little bit later on in the show. Beaver, gladiator. No, look at the comment. What did he say? Yeah, what did he say?
Uh, something about being pussy is just not a bit of something. It's just, uh, I don't know. Yeah,
it lived up. Right up for the men's stuff, man. Yeah, a lot of, a lot of outrageous Twitter buyers coming out of the way. Yeah, exactly. Real quick, I think we kind of lost over it. He's, I think the most impressive shot I saw today was Foxy from the bunker on 18. Oh, I was ship-sid, man. It was awesome. It was awesome. Yeah, I really cleared the, I don't know, it didn't even clear the lip. It like grays the lip as it as it came out. I mean, it was just an awesome stuff. I loved it. On, it shouldn't
“be an upset because everybody keeps telling us like trust me, like Xander's, Xander's cool,”
Xander's late back. He's like, I know people love Xander, but just him and Foxy being like
best friends was just, it was delightful to watch. I loved watching them, got to hand it up together
and clearly had a great time. It was, it was lovely. The blowby is on. Uh, well, it counts. The blowby's there. Final account's Foxy is the greatest bloke to ever walk the planet. I mean, he's the bloke. He's to the bloke. He's got that, that suburban dad garage gym look going. Just, you know, just guys solid, man. Super solid. A little bit of a gut, but super solid in the shoulders and the arms. He does sport. We do have whole locations. I'm not sure if this will
quite show. I mean, he's fun to pair with somebody, but we can look at that as well. But back right, whole location on seven, like we were expecting in that new part of that green. That's the whole location we played in the Ken Ken confirmed that is indeed a Narlie one. It's like back middle on 17 front right big time front right on 16. That one's that one's hidden in there. Also, all the way on the right on 14's in interest to him all the way back right on 11 as well.
Nothing other, nothing other two kids left on four will be interesting. I thought right on five. Back to today, I thought the pin on 12 was so good back right and McGinley was was in the booth. It takes it come on during the squad. He's doing a great job, but he was calling out like, this is a no-go. It's a suck-up pin. Can't go at this pin. And, you know, I thought that was a turning point. I bring it up because I thought it was a turning point in Bryson's round. He dumped
it in that front bunker that front right bunker and he got that up and down and I feel like that gave him a ton of mo head and towards the end of the round. I know this is not possible because he does sky stuff. He's like the busiest man ever, but I'm just voicing what I would like to see to Riko and McGinley. Eight and 15 hours a day. That's all that's all he needs to spend. That's right. If a bunch of on course reporters. With bones on course, John Wood on course. Sure.
“Smiley too. I think the going down. Yeah. Anyway, we've talked about that. We can get to that tomorrow.”
To your point, 12 volts a day, five total birdies and only one in the afternoon. On 12. It's on 12 to that right pole location. Yeah. Two guys we haven't talked about. I mean, we haven't really gone down the board. We maybe we do this one we're doing tea times. Neil, you're, you're, see who Kim distressed that play? I know. Have to be happy with that selection. Do you want to talk to me? Can you talk to me all shots from
CW, but great 67 a day? Can you talk me through that? Talk me through that decision a little bit. I mean, just like a guy that perhaps no bigger no show in the history of major championships. I'm lung players that have been just like world-class players. And what, what made you bite this week? I mean, I think we're all when we're doing the draft stuff. We're all looking at the same sheet and it's just like, it's either him or I go way, way down the board and, you know, like,
pick walking knee men if I'm Randy. You know, it's like, no, I just take the guy that's had a great season. I know he's had no show, but you got to think that it's going to, at some point,
He's going to show up because he's getting a lot of look.
has a lot of good finishes on, you know, normal PGA tour stops.
68 67 67 67. Kind of that, you know, mix of playing styles we're talking about coming into. When the golf course is super firm, guy who doesn't have, you know, doesn't bomb it, can I contend in a different way. So it's kind of big as massive disappointment with Cam, Cam young. I fooled me. I'm going to lose some nuggies on that one. I was feeling real bullish. He looked great on the front nine. He looked like between him and Burns. I felt like both
the maritime they cut to the two of them. They look so solid. It looked really easy.
“And then he just started driving it kind of erratically. I think he bogeed 11 and 12.”
And then it just kind of got dropped from coverage from there and it just was not a good day for Camion. The guy that I like, we haven't really talked about him. I think he's a pretty serious dark horse contender tomorrow is Ryan Gerard. He really didn't have it going today. He was one over through three, one over through 12. And then Bertie's the 13th, one of the best Bertie to the day. He laid back off the tee at like two, 20 in, made it 20, 25 footer. Bertie's 14,
and kind of salvages a 69. And he's sitting there seven under three back. And he's like, I don't get the sense that Ryan Gerard's scared of the moment. I think I don't have confidence in him to rise to the occasion. I agree. I feel like this was his his stuck in neutral around, you know, and like you said, he clearly didn't have it going. Couldn't get forward momentum. But but stayed in it didn't shoot himself out of it, which would have been very easy to do playing the
open for the first time in his career. Like it would have been easy for this one to get off the rails.
“And instead fought back and got it in red numbers. Great. I don't have a player. I think it'll”
I think come in. It'll be good. Active similar boat here doesn't feel looks pretty comfy out there. Like heads up who I know, uh, the rod's got, you know, at 700, at 600, at 600. But what do you think? How did that you take in Neil? I'm taking super. I'm just taking Gerard as well. Gerard in the Liverpool area. He's done it. Hard to be. He's made impossible possible. It's a short corner. The odds as of now per Fandle Sandburns is plus 125. See who plus 500. Ryan Fox
plus 750. Ryan Gerard plus 1300. Like what a what a top four that is. Only major championship. Only major champion on, I believe in the top 10 right now. Bryce in the Shambop plus 1500. Ludwig is 1600. Lucas Herbert is plus 2000. Tommy Fleetwood plus 2200 in Scotty plus 2700. Super is plus 3500. Officially super got the detective named on his Wikipedia page and got a shot out on the world feed today. So good. Congratulations. Congratulations to the whole log force with
community. How about a Herbert shot into 17? I thought that was legit. I thought that was like a golf ball being hit from another hole or something like that clearly is his ball. There's the way. He's ball ended up there. What a shot man. Talking about another guy. I know he's been a pro for a long time. He's played a lot of golf tournaments but didn't let it get away from today when it started to get squirrely. I mean, he's still with him shouting distance. Again,
“back and up what seemed like a very heavy for him 62 yesterday. I think the I think he grasps”
everything that went into that 62 and would have been easy to kind of lay an egg and you know one over is not ideal on this golf course but could have been three over, could have been four over, could have been like not going to see him again but still has a good fight in chance tomorrow. T.C. Anything on Ludwig? Three under today kind of snuck in Larry woke up. Yeah, I mean, the putters been just a trotace all week and most of the week, I think, you know, especially Thursday.
A clean car, bogey the first and then yeah. I mean, the ball striking's there. It's been
he's just exhausting himself trying to get the ball in the hole, I think. So we'll see him. If there's a guy that can go just fire at pins and kind of blackout tomorrow, I'd say Ludwig is qualified to do that as anybody. DJ, any any comment from you on Rasmus, New York, Peterson, sitting at the bottom or monitoring this? I think for those just joining the program, T.C. And I have a lifelong bet. First Rasmus to win a major. I have Rasmus, Hoygard. He has all other
Rasmus's present and future. And so this is, you know, we haven't had a knock it on the door for a little while. So we'll be. We've gone to here. Yeah, we're monitoring it. I'm not super worried. He did have a nice finish today, but I'll monitor it, T.C. You can hedge it if you want. He's a
Hundred and one to win.
last pairing out Ryan Fox and Sam Burns, uh, two 10 is Ryan Gerard and C. Woo Kim, uh, two o'clock Ludwig Oberreg and Lucas Herbert. Uh, 150 Jackson Super, Bryson Deschambo, Tommy and Rasmus Diergar appears and will be a 140 Eric Coles, Andrew Schaffley at 130 Haddecki Kazuma Kabori. Sneaky, sneaky, great little spot for Kazuma Kabori. They're at four
under par. Cameron John, I'm not gonna lie that as the first time I've ever heard that name, not just, uh,
I did not realize he was four under par, uh, tournament. There was one point in the tournament. Cam Smith, Cameron John, Jordan Smith, and Jordan Speeth were all like in the same area. It was just really playing with my brain. Raman Lauri, we'd playing together, uh, but Jose Luis Bias, Biaster is playing with Scotty Sheffler tomorrow. Max Holma had a nice day today. He's at 300 par. He'll be with Alex Smolley tomorrow. Um, Cam Young and Big Shot Bob McIntyre playing
together at 12.05. Uh, Jordan Smith will be with Roy Mackelroy. Well, at this point, uh, kind of continuing, uh, tournament here for Column More Cow after a really good start. He's at 200 healthy 1120 with Francesco Molinari. Who would be, uh, who's your guys' ideal, kind of story line tomorrow? What's your preferred, your preferred outcome if you, if you had one, and let's say maybe we keep it five under or, or better. Not like Roy's used to 50. I think we almost got to take.
Can we keep this? Yeah, can we do the second? Can we do our second stage? Yeah, everybody's on the same
“page. It's Tommy, right? That's the best thing I can, can happen. What's, yeah, what's after that?”
Neil, I'll throw two first. Um, Burns holds off a charging bracing by one stroke, and then we get all the discourse around how bracing should have won. That's not what you don't want that. No, I think that's sick one time. It's good for ratings. I think it's, it's, I want that. Yeah, because I, yeah, I would like to see Sam Burns get it done tomorrow. We haven't seen, but yeah, I think, if you're eliminating like
a great final round 62 from like Scotty or Cam Young or, you know, bracing would that be super interesting if you did something like that wrong, doing that. It's like would be a really interesting, uh, final round. Then yeah, I want, I want Burns to get one. I think Jackson's super
winning to his first time like ever playing Lynx golf would also be just a, you know, not quite a
Ben Curtis level wrinkle, uh, but like, that maybe because he kind of looks like Ben Curtis, that was the one thing that popped into my head. Uh, yeah. Unless Ben Curtis, people think that's a
“slight. Ben Curtis had a bad, a nice career. He did, but that moment, I think he was three,”
ninety six in the world, uh, from Austranger Ohio, um, like, we, we knew Ben Curtis in Ohio. And like that, that was a transformative, uh, sporting event in my childhood of like, somebody, a massive massive long shot can win the game's oldest championship and like that, like illustrated the beauty of this championship is, is that'd be really cool if super did it. I mean, I wouldn't be like rings galore and, and probably the most popular story in the world, but, uh, that, that's when I'm,
I'm, I'm certainly monitoring. Um, I mean, love, you know, setting aside Tommy, love that going nuts would be awesome. I think I'm going to say Foxy. I think you, uh, I'm just having to, having to, having to, having to, having to say Foxy, T. C. Have a proper bloke. Yeah, he's a dude. Like having a dude win it, but I'd be fine with Sam Burns. I'd be found Ryan Gerard. I'd be full of C. Woo. Like, I'm, like, I'm just, I'm excited. I just hope we get
“good action tomorrow. Yeah. That's what I'm rooting for. Yeah. I'm prepared to be entertained tomorrow.”
Like I'm, there's no storyline that, you know, other than, I'll obviously we were rooting for Tommy, but there's nothing like, nothing that, uh, I'm, I'm bound to in any way, like if Sam Burns blows up again. Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, something else crazy is going to happen. Like sometimes you go in with like this needs to follow the script or this is going to get really ugly tomorrow. It was just give me the chaos. I think it, uh, it's going to be any wrinkles with the, with the, with the forecast tomorrow
with the weather or is it? Looks like stronger wind, uh, as of the last official forecast that was on, uh, the media site, uh, for the open, um, looked like just a little slightly slightly stronger wind in the afternoon, um, than we've seen so far. Again, nothing like crazy dramatic, but, um, I can get you the exact, oh, we have that here. There we go. Um, it looks like around two o'clock local time, or I guess noon local time, uh, 10 to five to 10 miles an hour. Gus up to 14, uh,
two o'clock, uh, out of the northwest 10 to 15, Gus up to 18 and then by four o'clock, uh, 12 to 18,
Gus up to 24, uh, Gus up to 22, continuing all the way up until six o'clock.
the strongest we've seen. Um, and, and, and we've seen with Brookdale, like it doesn't need a ton of wind for it to have an effect. So, um, again, if I'm one of those water off, uh, one of those early
“guys, man, like, it's, it could still be a low number out there in the morning. I, and I, I think”
if that happens, I would recommend, and if you listening or watching, I get really upset about it. Like, I would let that ruin my Sunday morning. If I wake up, and somebody is really deep in the red, like, I would just get sweaty, but he's not on the show tonight. Worked up about it. I think that's a really good use of your energy. I, I dig that vibe. It's really fun. So, I, I, I, I waste my energy on far more trivial matters. Really, what? I sound like how much water they're applying
to the greens. Uh, TC Foxy's never had a top 10 at a major. I think I might be, I might be rooting
for it. I could, I could be, it would be awesome. It would be safe. Then, solid, solid and shambles tomorrow night. There is something, there's something cool about, like, we say it's all the time. We've been on such a run of just heavy weights, winning majors that it's like 20, 20, six. Remember what, like, Aaron Ryan Foxy, one of those two majors? Like, that's, it's a cool blip in, uh, in the, in history of, of our sport. Uh, yeah, I don't know. That would be fun too.
He has a lot of bad options tomorrow. Weird. Major, we do have some set-up notes for tomorrow. They will be moving to an up T on four with the front left hole location on that part three. It'll be playing 183 yards. There'll be returning to the championship T on the seventh hole, playing 154 yards to that back right at a whole location. Uh, 15, when we playing back as well, uh, this will be stretched out to the full 241 yards to the back left hole location. So,
we saw back T today to the up pin on 15, that they'll be going back all the way to the back, with the north west wind. Do I have that right? It'll be off the left. Yeah. Yeah.
“That'll be the pit tough hole tomorrow. I think that that will definitely play as one of the”
more challenging ones. I feel like Foxy already feels like he won this week, because the all blacks beat the direling this morning and, and he came out on the right side of that bet.
Everything else is gravy. I can't believe I forgot this in first blush when you're doing
T times, but it was also that was the playoff in Canada. Wasn't it Sam Burns in Foxy? But that's right. When Foxy got the plaque put in, I mean, you already, you know, TVC Toronto TVC cocktail. He's done it before. He's done it before. Yeah. Do you see any comment on P? Yeah, um, pretty disappointed. Both P, uh, Alex Fitzpatrick just laid a fucking egg today, too. That one's stuck. But Colley laid an egg today.
Just some guys I was expecting more from, but P especially, P was,
P had him right where he wanted. I mean, Boogie the, Boogie the first hole,
birdie three out of his next four. And I'm like, all right, we're cooking. P's cooking. Meanwhile, Foxy's doing his thing and, you know, guys are going low. And then, yeah, P just too many Boogie today, man. He had five Boogie today. And, uh, just just not greasy enough. His, his pudding wasn't good. Well, shots, pudding. He wasn't good off the tee. I thought, I thought off the tee was going to be more of an advantage for him this week of like, just shaping it and being
kind of mediocre. Like, it was going to be more of a, you know, hit. This is an iron player's golf course. And, like, his iron place has been fine, but overall the pudding has been absent. So, hate it, hate it.
“We're losing, we're losing TC's voice with all the screaming has done, uh, Tommy. I think we have”
an update for our leader board for this week. Again, remember, all you're trying to do is outrun the bear on this one. Uh, you don't finish fifth. Yeah, sure. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. And, uh, you got to do a get ready with me video, uh, fifth place currently is big Randy. You know, in two players, make the cut Scotty and got her up. A lot of a lot of a, a lot of stock in in Scotty's round tomorrow's got her up went backwards. Say he's in a title 50 it. So, Randy's in 50. He's eakin it out into fourth. It's a Xander vers Scotty thing tomorrow. That is going to be an interesting match. To watch for this TC. Not in the clear. He's not in the clear. It's either B. Brand.
Into your me. I mean, I'm only 60 grand ahead of Randy. He's got two players. I have four players. I got P Bobby Mac, pitchy Bob, Alex Fitzpatrick and Russell Henley. Yeah. So, I spot on it. I'd rather be one of the guys in the top two right Neil. Uh, right me. I'm at 1.3 mil Neil at 1.8 with C. We're carrying a lot of that. I will say. Yeah. But still, you know, spot this. Yeah. Good spot. Yeah. I don't love where I'm at with basically putting men woolly and Scotty and kind of a heads up tomorrow. It's not making a feel. Doesn't make me feel great. But, you know, we're not out of it. Yeah, Cody. All right. We're still. We're fighting another day. Honestly, thought we're done yesterday. So for sure. I thought it was like, Oh, my goodness. We're, I was already over here. I was planning with the girls. Like, they're, you know, they're going to help me. Everybody's excited in this episode. We get out.
All sorts of get ready with me to Cody.
I threw it out that you can opt out potentially out of the get ready with me video. If, but you have to watch the Will Ferrell golf series and report back to everyone on it. Like, you have to watch it in totality and report back. I don't know what's actually actually. I think it's called the. Oh, yeah. Real quick. I want to give shout out to somebody who is right around that too over. Usually, you know, when we're talking about people who are too over like, Oh, that stinks. This is a replication, Marcus Plunkett West Point grad former transpo officer in the United States Army, first major ever sitting in there made the cut going to make it check.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have zero status anywhere right now. So good on him. I'm kind of ashamed that it took us this far to to shout it out. But yeah, there we go.
Thank you Cody. I'll also kind of miss that story. Um, just look, we'll, we'll do our this or that audit tomorrow here. I'm just, I'll highlight some of the, some of the worst we've seen of it so far. DJ is the only one to took Minbu Lee over walking, nemen compared to everyone else. We did all take Ryan Gerard over Jake now feel good. Well, better about that one. That feels good.
“Big shot, Bob versus the top 10 is certainly one that we'll need to follow into tomorrow as well. But what's Bob at?”
T20, T20, 300. Yeah. Yeah. It's exactly the guy's making these lines. Kind of round. He goes out and he pins his ears back and then he has a late bird has a late bogey. Trash is the place and then goes back to open should we linger or loiter and then get our winter picks and get out of here. Sure. Yeah. Same burns. Loitering. Loitering. Yeah. Has to be a keep showing up in Ryan Fox. Yeah, Foxy was looting this morning. Yeah.
Yeah, you know, we can turn it all about the amount of down trying to walk these.
Yeah, lingering think it's, no, I think Foxy probably had a couple beers this afternoon. That's a lot of things to play in in the final group. I think he's lingering. Plus he plays so fast. I don't know if I think that could come into play for him tomorrow. I desperately desperately want him to be loitering and it's, I'm going to believe in it. I'm going to believe that he's loitering. I think he's going to make it interesting tomorrow. But he just, he hasn't to before.
He's all in the same effort. I was lingering. I was lingering. See, woo.
“I want to start with you, man. I think he's lingering. I think he's lingering too.”
He's had a bad boy so bad.
I do too. I do too. All of these guys. I've ridden for these guys, but we got to, you know, we got to pick some. See, wound your yard's going to be so viby tomorrow too. We're going to see three shots from that group. Yeah. It might be, it might take out under. Yeah.
T-Shot on one tap in the lead playing through Gerard. I'm saying loitering. Yeah. And with you. Herbert.
I think he's lingering. Yeah.
“I think so. I give him credit for keeping it on the rails this afternoon, but he, I think he, he used up a lot of energy.”
Getting it in the house for that 62 on Friday. Keep it. If you could, if you could, they could go the opposite way and could have been a big number. Broken part one time this week. And it was when the only time that the get and was good, that was Friday morning.
I'll say I'll say loitering just for the sake of argument. You're just trying to engender sympathy from the live bots. I think it was for sure. I don't know if you can hear this. Ripper, Ripper G. C. Nice. He's, listen, guys, one before. He's one on tour. He's one on the DP world tour three or four times. I think he's, you know, he knows if he, if he catches the scent, he, he's done it before. Ludwig.
Launching. I think lingering. I think lingering for just fool me, fool me a couple times. Hope it again. I hope it's not. Hope it, I hope, I hope they all win, but I'm going to say lingering. I'll say loitering.
Oh, you're just trying to, this is political, you're trying to, so my team. He's on my ticket. Back at a good graces. I can do a joy to heck out of Tommy and Ludwig this week. I'm running straight to the top.
Thank you. Bryson. Leaping.
Ploor's a leaping.
Mining. Performing. Yeah. Loitering, man. Yeah.
It's got the firepower. Yeah. I love rigging. And it's great. I mean, truly.
“Like, kind of didn't seem to have it today.”
And he manufactured a round to keep himself in it.
I'd say loitering. I don't know. I am going to say lingering. I feel like we've, we've seen him. I've seen him waver.
One hundred part a day was not that great around. I think, I think it. - Yeah, I'm gonna say lingering. Jackson's super. - Wearing. - We're leaving. (laughs)
Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link. - I think he's no more of a time. - We need to get a guy like an IV or something like that. I like his limpin' in the house, come on. - He's gonna have a front row seat tomorrow,
playing with Bryson. That's an interesting pair. - That's a holl, that's a holl, that's a holl. - That's a holl, that's a holl, that's a holl, that's a holl.
“- That's a holl, that's a holl, that's a holl.”
- That was a weird take. - Yeah, you don't know about that one. Welcome to the show, brother. - Last two, Rasmus Neogard Peterson. Truly who could say.
- Yeah, I'm gonna hang ring ring ring here. I hope you do tell me that we need to do tell me. No one's ever been loitering more than time. - I think tell me could be lurching. Like doing something very suddenly,
and then, but not consistently. - Are you ready for tonight? - Good morning. - Are you ready for tomorrow night? - T.C., are you ready for tomorrow night?
- Yeah, whatever comes, comes with me.
