First couple of segments here today are going to be brought to you. Add free by title is the number one ball in golf. And the number one ball on the LPGA tour today. What we're going to do. We're going to go through a little recent soul time cup history.
Get you up to speed. If you haven't been following the women's game for a long time, or if you've just a little forgetful,
“or maybe weren't watching or don't remember off top of your head.”
What the most recent soul time cup results have been like. What has happened there. We're going to run through a few of those. We spoke earlier this week. Earlier last week, I guess it would have been with team USA captain Angel Stanford.
After her captain's picks were made. So it's a couple of week old interview as you're hearing this. So we talk about a couple of things in there. Go ahead, Randy. >> Sorry.
It was prior to the event going in Boston. >> Correct. >> So just to kind of set the stage. We talked with her for about 15 minutes or so just about some of her picks. And captaincy and things of that nature.
And then on the back half, we're going to go through those roasters. Break down the US captain's picks. We've broken down in the European ones. And perhaps as well, I'm sure we'll talk about some of those. As well, go through a bunch of questions.
Make our official picks and score predictions as well as, you know, a lot of other stuff to get into. But soul time cup history. Can I run you guys through kind of the somewhat recent history. Get you up to speed on where things are at.
Momentum wise going into this one, please. >> Yeah, please.
>> So moving very quickly through the first couple of decades.
So I'm cup started in 1990. US-18 of the first 11 through 2009. A lot of US domination there. Then Europe went back to back in 2011 and 2013. I would say the fun kind of starts in 2015.
Like this is when it gets spicy. It was played in Germany. Karen Coke was the captain of Europe. Julie Inkster was the captain for the US. Europe was up eight to four after three team sessions.
And famously in that last team session. This finished on Sunday morning. Suzanne Patterson and Charlie Hall are playing a match against Alison Lee and Brittany Lensacum. The match is all square on the 17th hall. Alison Lee's got a birdie putt to win the hole from about 10 to 12 feet.
Lee misses the putt low. It goes maybe 16 inches past the hole. I mean, the most gimmie of gimmies that you could ever have in match play. There's no world. You would ever make somebody putt this putt.
Charlie Hall is kind of standing near where Alison Lee is standing. And the caddy start walking off. Charlie Hall starts walking off. The official score shouts out that the hole is tied. And Alison Lee goes and scoops the putt.
Susan that is Susan Patterson's music.
She comes up and insists insisted it was not conceded.
It was so shitty.
“I watched it back thinking like, man, maybe there's some gray area there.”
It was so shitty. One of the shittiest sportsmanship moves have ever seen in golf. And as I said, Europe wins that match goes up 10 to six in singles. So what happens? The rest of that Sunday.
The miracle. I don't know how I don't have a phrase for the miracle in Germany. But Angela Stanford, the now captain of the US teams just stomps on Suzanne Patterson and singles. Ball don't lie. Alison Lee wins her match as well. The US comes storming back.
They need to win eight and a half to three and a half to take back the sole climb cup. And they did exactly that biggest sole climb cup come back in history. During a pillar made a do or die put on 18 to keep the US alive and Paula Kremer clenched it. Suzanne Patterson would go on to apologize the following day after they lost about what happened there. But ball don't lie.
It was so bad. It was so, so bad. But it was good.
Because it just ignited this rivalry and true.
Not hatred, but true feelings. It got the golf world involved. It did. Because everyone had an opinion on this one. And I guess I hate to say this, but it has like some of the most memorable stuff.
Of the last several sole climb cups have been kind of some of these controversial disasters. The shuttles in 2024. You know, there was a rules issue in 2021. Toledo featuring Nellicord and Madeline Sagstrom, things like that. Those are the things that kind of stir people up and get people talking about it.
Which I guess is a good stuff. The security guard and Spain. I mean major drama there. I agree. Well, we'll see that that 25, you know, going through the singles.
God, T.C. our girl Caroline headwall lost six and four to Michelle Lee West. Yeah, yeah, I can't have that. That was, that was what allowed for her to have the proper experience to get, you know, to be the last line of defense. And what did her on that wall? Yeah. What was that 2023?
23, yeah.
“I think that's a great point though that that T.C. made.”
Like, this event needs some, like, on course controversy, I think. In, you know, it's, it's shitty for Alison Lee. Like, it's, it's, it's not good sportsmanship. So I like, I, I definitely agree with all of that. But, uh, but in terms of, like, rising into the public consciousness and making people take note,
like, you, you need stuff like this. Yeah. I, again, I watched it back thinking, like, they had their head. I mean, I missed remembering how bad it was. Oh, God, no, no, no.
There's no way it's that close. Like, it is true. It's a treatment. It was, it was, it was some bullshit. Like, so 2017 goes back to the US.
It's in, in Des Moines. It's a packed house. The US dominates 16 and a half, 11 and a half. They hold serve at home. The US is back. Uh, you know, 2011, 2013, those were flukes.
We go back to Glen Eagles.

As close as exciting of a team of it as you're ever going to get. Very close through all the team sessions. And of course, ends eight to eight after team play. And the singles, there's a four hour 43 minute singles. Like, the whole broadcast from singles is available on YouTube.
Like, if you ever want to flip something on to have on in the background and relive one of the great days of competitive team golf history, flip that on because it's awesome. It's incredible. There's some huge, huge moments. It comes down to the final match.
Marina Alex versus Suzanne Peterson. Again, went back and watched this. I forgot Marina had about 10 footer to retain the cup. Uh, that one missed. Um, there's a, it flips back.
Ali McDonnell has a put to keep, just, just, just to make that on 17. Just to keep the US alive. She makes it. And then it's back to Peterson on eight on 18. Has an eight footer to win the soulheim cup and walk off her career.
It's a, it's a, it's a win or lose plot. That's the thing about these puts as well. Like, you will not win the soulheim cup. If you missed this put and you will, if you make it. And she just pours it right in the center.
Epic celebration on the green. So she gets her revenge from the shittiness of 2015. I don't know who the revenge was actually on. Uh, maybe it's just for herself. Uh, and you're up on to.
By the way, now, let's change it. Can't have it. Yeah.
So 2011, uh, this is the first one.
We had attended an inverse nest. It was a tough showing. For 2021. For 2021. For 2021.

This was, this was when Matilda Castro. I don't know if you guys really liked it. You know, she went three and one and it was looking like she was going to be a stalwart for the next, you know, decade plus. So Europe is one back to back.
Now we get to 23. You guys went over to this one in Spain. You asked jumped out to a four nothing lead. Uh, but everything ends in a tie in that one. Carlota Saganda won the 14th point.

It was the first time I've ever seen people
like turn on the media, Captain Lewis turned on us in the media because of a Lexi shanked it. This is TC's fault, he's getting everybody riled up. TC, I can't remember who your British friend was, or you guys are just, maybe his Bob here,
I can't remember, but you know, just doing God's work in their TC, I'll never forget that. Stacey was blaming it on the media. Just like I asked her a simple question
about like shanking it on the last hole and basically, Lexi was like, yeah, I'm not gonna talk about that. It's like, well wait a second here, is this a professional sporting event?
“All right, I think people are gonna ask you”
about kind of massive failures on a big stage. That's kind of part of the deal here. Like, see, play to PJ Tour event leading up to it. Yeah, I totally forgot about that. That's, yeah, I've like vanished that from my memory,
but yeah, and then, you know what, Cody, we retained the cup, baby. Tell me, shy. It was a tie, yeah. I'm the cup.
It was a tie. Neil and I had no clue what was going on and we're like, what do you, what do you mean, rotate, like, we're sitting with both of us with our hands up, we're like, wait, that's not even possible.
Like, what the hell just happened? Neil, Neil also doesn't know what retain means, famously. But I say, retain the USA. He had, had all had the most incredible sporting performance.
I've ever seen personally. Uh, she was, she was in a do or die match against Ally McDonnell before she got married, going back several years. And I got, I'm trying to find the exact match, but she was like, I don't know what was it, like,
four down with six to play it felt like, and then one of the last six holes going like six or seven under on the scorecard, like it was just incredible. It was shot after shot after shot down the stretch. Uh, to then put the euros in position where Carlota, eventually,
uh, you know, got the, the point to, to retain over in L.A.C. Really a weird for us, uh, as ever, truly.
You don't even, no, I've always played since, you know,
had well didn't play the first three matches. They just kept her step right away. She was such a controversial captain's pick, horrible form. Susan Pederson was the cat, like, a lot of things come of full circle in Spain in 2027.
The lean was being a malcontent.
“Oh, actually, if you want to win three, I refuse.”
I will not recognize anyone that retains the cup at home. Like, you can, if you go on the road and you tie like he gets keep it, but if you're at home and you're not, you don't hold the cup, you, that's not a, you don't not keep solid things. I don't recognize it's more impressive to lose the cup at home.
And tighten it. Correct. Yeah, that doesn't make a lot sense. I mean, they, they did what they needed to do. No, it's tight. They didn't win. They didn't win. They tied. They tied that. I hate retainting.
There should be a playoff of some kind. I absolutely hated. Famously, I'll say this and I hope this is the case. This was when we were introduced to Charlie not showing up
Literally until like a day before the matches start.
She runs it based off her own time. So yeah, there might be gallows and opening ceremonies and everything,
not on her watch. She also showed up to the very first
team for morning sessions on Friday, wearing the wrong team outfit.
“That's how prepared to us. So it's just kind of doing her own thing.”
And while it was three down with six to play, and then just went nuclear. I will, we'll note that into the record. 2024, they play him back to back years to get back opposite the writer cup after the writer cup got bumped a year from 2020 to 2021. So get back to back years the way the writer cup should be played.
U.S. wins this one pretty dominant fashion 15 and a half to 12 and a half at RTJ. There's logistical issues out the assets. I've been you tough back off the ship. Yeah, bad shuttles, just all sorts. I mean, security was a mess. It was, it was not good.
It did not go well. The event did not go well other than U.S. domination. Cases are taking their shirts off after whole outs from the fairway. Megan Kang goes three or no. Rosang goes four or no. Nelly and Allison Corpus both go three and one.
L.C. goes three and one. L.C. goes three. L and one. L and Grant went 0 and four. So you know, and like this, the singles on the last, like it was 10, 6 going into Sunday. And the first five matches were all like complete blowouts. One way or another. Six four, Nelly lost six four to Charlie. Megan Kang beat Emily Christine Peters and six and five.
Rose beat Carlota, six and four. Just yeah, it was just not very entertaining. Yeah, something. There was a touch of drama. You know, L.C. and Lillia Vue both ended up having their matches.
“I think Lillia secured the winning half point for Team USA.”
But to to trans point, that the those like final six matches could have gone either way. There was a path to victory for a little bit.
It was credit. There's always a way to say victory, but they shut the door.

First of all, I have to imagine big relief having the team set.
Talk to us as you make final preparations before you head over to the Netherlands.
“How are things going? What's there still left to do for you?”
Well first off, thanks for having me guys. Yeah, last night was a huge relief. You kind of get them all in one room and you finally have the 12 more than a year and a half. We've been thinking about getting the 12 and we finally got them. So relief, but fun and yeah, so now it's more just we're kind of getting our travel set. Any last minute thing? I need some information from them just for the things that we're going to do
week of. So it's stuff like that kind of like those last minute details. How did when you went about finalizing, of course, nine of the 12 women on the team come via automatic qualifying through various channels, leaving you the three captains picks? I'm curious what type of consideration, perhaps the golf course played or certain what attributes did you take that really stood out with these three individuals,
Lyndy Duncan Rosen, Megan Kang? I guess talked to me about the process at arriving at those three captains picks if you don't mind. Yeah, you know, I think the golf course does play a part of it. I'm really big on how we're going to play the golf course and first off, Megan Kang hits it really straight. I mean, eight of the last eight seasons, she's been in the top 20 and accuracy off the tee. So that played a role, but Megan was also, you know, her energy, her record,
We just can't leave a Megan Kang at home.
form. Again, we see things that make us believe that she's trending the right way.
So, you know, I said, she's the, the, uh, straw that stirs the drink. So, you know, we weren't going to leave her home. Uh, Lyndy Duncan, you know, look, her putting was really the thing that got across the finish line. Um, I've kind of said, putting team chemistry, but when we had the start splitting hairs, Lyndy's putting was kind of put what kind of put her over the finish line. And then in the, in the team room, look, she's, she's a mature rookie. She's very aware of who she is.
She's not going to, you know, she's going to walk into that team room and be very aware of how she fits. And, you know, when we go over there, I don't need to worry about somebody
“what they're doing and fitting into the team room. I think she's going to do it really well,”
just because of how mature she is. Um, and then Rose, look, if you know anything about golf, if you follow women's golf, Rose does stud. And, you know, I think people think when they don't see the results, there's, you know, oh gosh, maybe Rose is struggling. No, Rose was graduating from Stanford. Um, that's, that's a big deal. And, and she, she was really excited about that. And she's worked hard for that. So I get it, you know, I mean, sometimes there are things going on in your
personal life. But once she locked in, she kind of started that slow rise. And, and we kind of started to see it in Portland. Like, we, we knew behind the scenes that was coming, but, um, and we're not worried about that back. I think that's, she, she played a lot to try to make the team. So, you know, I got it. And I appreciated the fact that she put in a lot of reps to try to make the team. She was doing some pretty serious stuff in those studies, too. She was talking about peace agreement.
She was putting together for mock you in class, things like that. And, uh, hold on. She was also like brood beer. Okay. She now, but that was a lot. She was, she was into it as well. There's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What, uh, Angela, you played on a lot of solheim cup teams. I'm curious, what is a broad question to say, what, what, what did that experience give you that, what did you store away from those to think if you, if you thought maybe a future capancy was was in the cards for you, what are lessons
you learned as a player that said, well, I didn't like how that went. Well, I liked how that went that you are channeling into your capancy, both in your selections, how you're putting pairing together or how you're talking to your team. I'm just kind of curious, what comes to mind is things you, you remember as from playing in these that you think will make you effective captain.
“Well, fortunately I've played in, I believe I've played in three at home in three away.”
I might have been foreign to anyways. I've played it more overseas, I believe, but even my Curtis cup was overseas. So, I think realizing the difference in those team rooms and realizing the difference in those environments and the things that we need to do to prepare as a team to get ready to play on the road. So, there is a big difference playing home and playing away. I think the other thing that I'm trying to be really careful of and we're kind of working through that this week
is, you know, when you want people to start trying other golf balls, like, we're going to have to figure out an alternate shot there, a couple of players that we want to pair together, but they may play different golf balls. Well, I also don't want to waste their time. You know, I had a captain one time that was like, hey, I think I want you to play with this player, so I went and
played with the ball a whole week. I was at home just trying to use to it and then I never even
practiced with this player. Never even played with this player. So, I'm trying to be very careful when, you know, when I tell them they're going to be paired with somebody. There's a high probability. And they wanted to know, like, I felt kind of bad loss. I was like, okay, well, who do you think we're going to play with? And I'm like, look, I'm one of those people that I function one thing at a time. Like, we needed to get the 12 set. Now, I have a week and a half to
just start diving into these pairings and Justin Ray is like, already 10 steps ahead of me. So, we're in a good spot, pairings wise, just kind of getting started. So, yeah, I'm trying to make sure I don't waste their time with things like that. You know, Justin, he's been a good friend of ours for a while. And I know he's made a big impact on Stacy's teams. And, you know,
always kind of in the shadows. And it's been very nice to hear you vocalize it and say his name
and get him out there. How, when did the decision, I guess, for you be made, like, he's a person that I would like to have around on my team. And then kind of the impact that he's had as you've gone through putting everything together leading up to your captain's picks.
“Yeah, well, here's the thing. That week is so emotional. You know, that, and I think the thing”
that Justin Ray does with his statistics and data, he takes the emotion out of it. So, that's really good for a captain because it's like, okay, here's what the numbers say. Whether you want to
Believe me or not, this is what the number says.
Adam and I'm like, I'm already in love with this pairing. And he's like, I would never do that.
And I'll just shut. It's like, well, bang. So, you know, I'm very emotional, too. So, that's really good for me. And, and I sold him, you know, for when we had to redo, you know, every soul-harm cups different. And when I had, I went to the LPJ and I'm like, I, what do I need to do to sell him to you guys? Like, I, I, I need him because I am emotional. And he is very factual. And he can give us, you know, pairings. And I'll be like, okay, well, that's not going to work
because of what we know about these women. So, it's a great partnership. And, and you've seen it more in the alternate shot, you know, the, the four sums. That's really made a difference for us starting in Spain. Going back, sorry. You had mentioned in your previous answer,
“there's a big difference between playing a soul-harm cup at home and on the road. I think there's”
an obvious thing with, like, the home crowd being behind you versus over in Europe, you know, that the Europeans get to have that crowd behind them. I'm curious, so Angela, is there anything that the, the common fans, you know, someone such as myself just doesn't consider that that makes, you know, such a difference playing at home versus on the, on the road, if you will. Well, I think you have more of your, your, your family usually goes over when you play in Europe,
but like all those other, like your secondary, you know, family and friends, like that, that outer layer that, you know, there, most people aren't going to fly over to the Netherlands
and much. So, you know, I always say, okay, when we're at home, we can look outward for support.
When we're up, but we're on the road, we have to look inward. So, you know, you can't be out there looking around, you know, when we're in Europe because you see the opposition's fans. So, that's, that's kind of the mentality. Like, we have to look inward and we have to be really sure of who's in that team room. And then you kind of get into like those everyday things, like the food, you're not, you know, you're not used to some of the things you're eating. You can't get the things
you like last minute. Like, I made them this packing list that, I mean, the whole page, I had to keep like clicking down like, okay, well, nine, you know, to make the print smaller and smaller, because, like, we, we have to remember every little thing to pack. Right. Because you, you can't just get over there and be like, oh, I forgot my bars, or I forgot my electrolytes. Like, let's overnight them. So, no, it's just sometimes those everyday things that, you know, you just, you can't get.
“And then, uh, about the team room, I think that's another thing that's a bit of a mystery to fans.”
Again, I'll use myself as an example here and people that are just perhaps tuning in, watching on TV, obviously heard you speak about making Kang, she seems to be the leader of this team and, and perhaps the leader of the team room. But can you just talk about maybe the importance and why that team room is so sacred in a week, such as this? Yeah, I, I absolutely love a locker room. I mean, you can, you got to kind of think of it as a locker room. It's a place where they can go and
look, they're always on. They're always on stage. They're always being watched. They're always
being either criticized or praised. And this is the one space that in my mind is very safe. You can say what you want. You can be who you want. Same with the caddies. Like, caddies know when you walk into that space, they're only certain things you can say and do. But making
“is one of those players that when she walks into the team room, it almost feels like the room”
lightens up. You know, like, if we're having a tough moment or how to tough day, she has the ability to walk in and just be like, look, we're going to be okay. But that's natural for her. It's not natural for everybody. So I see it as a very safe space for them. To me, that gives them the space they need to kind of recharge the batteries and be around people who are really on their side. You know, when you walk into that room, you know, your teammates have your back and, you know, that's maybe
in a way it kind of recharges on a little bit. Yeah, it's such a good point. I want to go back to this summer. So you guys made a trip. You went over you saw Bernardo's in the middle of a very busy major schedule for most of your players. What did you learn? Did you think that it did you see them, you know, did you throw some groups out there? They're like, maybe these are potentials that could work together. Oh, no, this isn't going to work based off things that you discovered,
learn from the course set up things like that. For me, it was more I just wanted to get their eyes on my golf course. And we did kind of pair them with people that we were going to see if they could just be around each other on the golf course. Like personality wise, like can you handle walking

the golf course. But I would tell you the thing that the confirmation I got was I knew early on, like we did the team function in March. And there's an ease about these women. Like they enjoy being around each other. They respect each other. I got confirmation on that trip. I mean,
they I never had a dinner reservation and they were mad at me. And I was like, I didn't know you'll
all wanted to go to dinner every night. And I'm like, yeah, where are we going? I'm like, I don't, I don't, I don't know. I'm going to get someone to dinner. So it was nice. It was confirmation that they really do enjoy being around each other. And they got thrown a curve ball. You know, I thought we were going to be riding in carts. And we get over there and they got to use push carts. And I was like, man, I didn't say this to him. But I was like, man, that would be so mad.
If I got over here on a Monday after a major, and you're going to make me push a cart. And they just, they took it in stride. They're like, oh, this is like college golf. This is great. And I'm like, yeah, I got a lot of good confirmation on that trip.
That's great. Not only embracing the, you know, the moment, but just taking advantage of the
opportunity in front of you. It's so cool to hear. You touched on Rose's back, which has, you know, I think Rose has had a lot going on, but she's definitely turned it up. And, and done, did everything that she needed to do, which is very, you know, good sign. And again, I'm kind of integrate with you. We're very close with Rose. And I don't think the back is going to be an issue. You do have another health concern, though, and that's angel. And we haven't really seen or heard

I mean, that's crushing her emotionally too. She wants to
be playing. So the last thing I needed to do was just be on, on her every single day. Like, are you going to play a role? I'm sure that'll be great for recovery. Yeah, exactly. So look, we're going to give her all the runway she needs to see if she can play. She's been very honest with me. And I think that's the one thing that I respect about angel is she's been like, "Hey, look, if I don't feel like I can play, I'm not going to, I'm not going to take a spot." If I,

And, and again, part of this is probably Angel's call and I don't know what kind of,
you know, you know, what kind of call does the Captain actually have to say? No, you automatically qualify, but you can't take the spot. Uh, I imagine there's some communication. Obviously, it's going into that, but it's not, it went pretty far down the list for, for Captain's picks in terms of, uh, where the, where the top players, you know, where the U.S. players rank in the world as it is. So it, it's not like there's somebody that's been completely snubbed sitting at home. It's kind of,
like the U.S. roster is weak at the very bottom. Europe, Europe is as well. I mean, both teams are not strong one to 12, uh, which is an element of that conversation as well, but say, maybe it is worth trying to brisk it with, with Angel because I, I don't know who the next, uh, next person up would be.

I, you know, you could tell me, hey, she's summoned something and goes to one in one and has a really nice week. All, all, all, maybe a Sarah Schmelzel from 2024.
I would believe that. I, if you told me, she goes O3 in one and kind of looks at a place and just out of sorts. I would believe that. I think that's a true wild card and then Megan Kang. The best thing going for her. She has a 73 and three record in Soulheim Cups. She finished T-27 in Boston,

team, like all of a sudden, Nellie Corta's not in great form. You know, she, she finished T-50. She didn't have for her standards. A great week in Canada. Her, her, her start prior to that. I'm a little worried of like, hey, what, what, what type of Nellie Corta are we going to get in the Netherlands?
Also, who's the second best player? Like, not, not looking at numbers. Who's the second best player
on the US team? Yeah, let's see. Yeah. And probably current form wise, I would say, I mean, Allison is playing an awesome second half of the year, which I would expect her to have a great soul-hime cup. Big, I am right there with you when we talk about picks, lack of depth here, and really the stress that is putting on the top end of this team for a soul-hime cup, that traditional league, like the top end kind of struggles to show up. And I know that's asking a lot. Like,
you ask a lot of the best players to go out there in soul-hime cups, not just to get, like, we're not asking for four. We're usually asking for like, you're going all five. And you got to
show up and you got to put that meet-up on the board. And it's a lot. It's going to be, it's
going to put Nellie NLC in a, in a tough spot. And I'm excited to see how the rest of them, I'm excited for you to get another crack at this, Jen Cubsho, you know, might not like her, but she, like, usually shows herself at these team events. And it's really, really good, and shows up for the, the big moment. And I want to say the same with Allison Lee, you know, when we saw her in Virginia, nobody knew that she was like nine weeks pregnant already.
And was an absolute dog. And, you know, it showed up when her teammates needed her most, and did everything that her captain asked her to do when she was literally throwing up every
morning battling, like horrible morning sickness, so close with mine, how she can, like,
“how she was able to do that to make her way all the way back on this team, which I think is,”
is such a cool thing to see. I think there's a Lexi-sized hole in this team, like we haven't mentioned that yet. That's kind of, you know, she's played every single one of these since 2013. Yeah, we talked to Angel. The Lindi Duncan one doesn't make any sense to me. It feels like the girl's club. This is the girl's club. She's going to be, she's going to be, you know, like captain said it. She's going to be comfortable in the team locker room. She puts well all
of that. Maybe she shows up, but Lindi hasn't had a top 25 since since March, which, you know, it doesn't really have loud traits other than the, the potter. So, I don't know, I don't think that's just how it was eligible. I would have found a way to make her eligible, and I would have, I would have gotten both her and Kiara Romero on the team, and I would have paired them together too, because they played together in the Curtis Cup a couple months
to start. Kiara missed four straightness. She finished T-23, T-62 in the last two events, but missed the Meyer cut, missed the eve on cut, missed the Scottish open cut, missed the edge, he woman's open cut. Like it's just four of her last six events leading up into this. She MCed. It's just as, it's hard to, it's hard to take a fly or pick on somebody that's not playing
“weekends. Yeah. And so, I don't know, it, I think they're going to, I think they're going to,”
they're going to ride Nelly, L.C. and Rose, pretty darn hard. Like I would not be surprised if those four don't go all four. So like, and are you concentrating? It'll be a pretty easy walk, you know, it'll be an easier walk than the last two venues for sure. Can you, is it concentrating too much of your star power in Nelly and Allison, again, as a pairing that we saw in Virginia? Like, is that how the team is shaking out now, do you think about splitting them up for any reason?
Do you kind of go, but team Europe does on the, on the, on the men's side, pair the Tommy, you know, roaring pairing up and go, go super strong with it. I'll be curious to see how they handle that. go back to somebody who's who's like, I was fascinated with that I haven't seen in three years now in Cheyenne night, no clue what happened. I don't even know if she plays golf anymore to be honest. So when you look at traditionals, I think Andrea Rose, got to have Lily, and I would say
“Allison there with her the entire time. You have to send out to your strong, that's strong pairing.”
Because you just have, you have no clue what's what Angel is going to have happened. And I know you guys talked about this already. If they hide, if they make the decision now, that Angel's on this team, but they hide her all the way till singles. That's a worst case situation. Like, that's where I would be like, what do we even do in here anymore? Outside of protecting, you know, so many. And I understand that she qualified for this team.
But outside of like literally hanging three full points on the board, this week is going to be a failure for Angelian. Yeah. I want another person that I would have maybe taken a look at as Yanna Wilson, who won the Dow, Gina Kim, like team golf partner event, played or bought off on Epson tour last year, two wins on Epson tour last year, and then, you know, has played decently well on LPGA this year as a rookie again. You know, but again, like, we're
great. Like, I just the thing that I don't like about the Lindy pick is it's like, it just feels like charity for a veteran versus, hey, let's do something that we're at least going to be able to yield a dividend from two years from now or four years from now. Yeah. It was kind of like,

names for the U.S. I totally agree. You got a ride now. You got a ride L.C. Rose. I am fascinated what Austin Kim, who is a soul-hime rookie, 26 years old. I'm fascinated what she's going to give. So to women that aren't on the current team. So I'm interested where Yelimi pairs. But I think

And then you've got Leona as kind of the lone captain's pick veteran outside. So I think it all comes down to kind of what they get out of Carlota who has been awesome in some of these was not awesome at Robert Trent Jones. Just not a great course fit for. And then Saline as well. Saline's got to step up and, you know, come ready to play.
So it's, you know, I think this is a much more, this will feel like much more of a home game
“to them than I think Spain did from a course perspective and culture perspective as well.”
A lot of, you know, it just feels to me like more of a European fit than
what was largely an American style golf course. Spanish resort, like it's not like, you know, it's not going to be hard to rally local Europeans to come out and root for a local team, like it was in Spain, like it's a completely different environment. I'm expecting, I'm expecting some pretty partisan and strong crowds out there, I would think. It's crazy to me that and Van Dam is an assistant captain on this team and not like this,
this should have been kind of the culmination or the, you know, the apex of her golfing career a little bit. It, it stinks that there are no Dutch players on the team, but I don't think that will stop a large Euro contingent from being out in full force. Nordquist, headwall, Mel Reed, and Van Dam, like they, they will, I think if there's a captain in a assistant captain match, they would, they would beat the brakes off of Angela Stanaford, Christina Cruz, and Paula
Creamer and Brittany Lang. You know, our quest should be the name in the envelope as well. If there's a, I think she absolutely should be. I do like Captain Nordquist,
“the captain's picks that she made, like you have to take Leonid McGuire based on her history,”
and a three and one in the Solheim Cup, yeah, just a total dog. And then she went young, you know, Mimi Rhodes, Julia Lopez Ramirez, and Nadad, you know, 24, 23 and 21 years old, respectively. So I, I think they're trying to infuse some, some young talent, you know, some women that have a chance to be on this team over the next several years. I like the strategy. It's not a great European team on paper. I don't think, but I feel like they assembled the 12 women that
almost as best they could. And I think it makes for a really interesting match. Like I don't think either team is that like the height of their powers by any means. But there's just very good money. It's getting dirty. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to make for a really interesting Solheim Cup. Throw some dirt in people's eyes. Let's get, let's scrap it out. Like it did, it might not be the prettiest effort. It might not be a bunch of Hall of Famers in this one. But it should be a dog.
It is dead even odds for the record. Plus, each side is plus 105 on Fandel. It is dead as even odds. So on paper that would say that US team is a little bit better than Europe, but the European home field advantage is perfectly offsetting it. I only check one sportsbook for that. But it doesn't get anymore more dead even than that. The one that that bumps me out that she's not on this team on the European side is Randy the the big German Helen Braim. I know it's such a miss. injury. Now back to playing, but nowhere close to being on this team. Alban Vilems Wala, who is a big part of Virginia, not close. And then you have your young Swedes TC, who you kept telling us there, they're all coming. Ingrid is just nowhere to be found right now. Bad. That's my fear where you're at as you look at the top of your team. And you put who you put in, you put land in
“the top of your team as somebody who you need to rely on. And I just do not think that that is either”
grit in his eyes. I see how I'm going to lose it out of this one. How do I get out? I think we may be looking at a lost generation of Swedes here. How's that possible? This was your thing. Like it's just the whole corporate endeavor around it is just too much, and it is, you're not, you're also not going, as the European captain, you are not going up against like the men's European rider cup team, which is the leadership is our wizards in getting the
absolute most out of it, and like the US captain has a big ass roll to try to meet the energy of that program, and I don't think that's the same on the women's front. You know what I mean? Like if the US team was like a most mathematical wizards and had a true strategy, we just don't see that. That would take a different level of commitment from a captain than I think is what is currently
required. So I would consider it, and ultimately she decided not to, and I, I'd be a fun conversation

She could have said too. Like I think there's different ways to be playing captain. You could say, hey, you know what? I'm only going to play two matches. Yeah, I'm going to play the hard parts of practice. Yeah, that's the, if you want to like scout your team, walk with your team. It's just,
the more I think about it, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's one of the other, it's one of the other, like do one of the other, like I, if you were going to be maybe one of the best players in the team, if you were tiger 2019 presidents cup, it's a different, that's just a different situation here. Um, I think it, it would, it, it just hit her on the team. I think, let me, let me twist this around,

up the head captain, see roll and fully, fully, fully, fully, really push it to whatever your head assistant is and have them be the true captain. And you are now a member of the team. Yeah. I just, just, the, the, the lazy quick analysis, though, is like, who do I have more confidence and going out and getting a point, like, Norquist or Nidad or Julia has Ramirez, like, give me Norquist pretty much every day.
Now, I might be singing a different tune at the end of the week, but from where I sit right now, it's, it's a pretty easy call. What you can, let me say, hey, you know what, like, you're, you're going to knock, be captain this year, but we're going to bring us all time come to Sweden in 20, 20, 30 and you're going to be captain there. What you can't convince me is that it's such a good idea that, that, um, it's, it's only this person can do the captain see really well
and play really well. You know what I mean? Like somebody else can, you just can't convince me that
it needs to be the same person. I would never see a situation where it would make sense,
completely to be like, I need you captain the team and I need you playing is just seems like a silly trap to walk into. Yeah. Mel would have been an easy captain. Sure. Yeah, really. Let Mel do it. Yeah. If there, if there was terms put in that said, you are accepting this captain's seat, but if you, for the, the same to the of the event, if you are an automatic qualifier, you are removing yourself from your captain's seat, you now play because at the,
at first and foremost, this is about competition. Okay. Would you be down for verbiage like that solid? Yeah, we got name a, you know, a captain in your play assisted captain in your play so could step up and take it over. Sure. The hard part is like, so much marketing around some these events is based on the captains too. You know, and a last minute, like flip there isn't the best commercially for some of these events and these events are big money makers. So I'd argue
it would be better. Hey, you played her way on the team. And yeah, but it's like, you know, they love to pit the captains again, you know, whoever the captains are against each other and try to line up rivalries and things like that. But anyway, so bummed, we're going to Valhalla. I would not be. I guess it could be a fun environment. I feel like it's such a good match place. It is a big, big place. It's not a good golf course, but it's got to the stadium, like the
one thing they do well is noise and like stadium seating and good viewing and they support the crap out of the events. Like, I don't know. That's, that's my compromise on Valhalla is like, you can get the golf course is not my style and not major championship or the, but you could

What could possibly be, what could we possibly be talking about this coming weekend? I do want to give a shout out. So we mentioned the pain points
of the last overseas soulheim cup. IMG event management has taken this event back over and took
it away from, I can't even remember if I think like the Spanish Federation ran it in Spain.
But I know at least the level of communication that we've been given so far, I appear that the event itself is going to be dialed. They sent us a great listing of the available food trucks on site.

two-dude bikes. So I'm going to make you, you know, riding the front as I pedal pedal for behind you. I'm kidding. We're not doing two person bikes. But a lot of biking going on. We've got to teach you guys how people do it. Like, you have like a back to the bikes where you would strap a bag or whatever. Like a really talented blikers will, you know, somebody will sit
on the back and like put their arms around you like a motorcycle and you've got to, you got a
bike with them. I was not able to master that one. That one's a, that was a tough one. Pass. Yeah. So you get the, like a buckfeets, I think, or like the little carriers in the front that you take kids to school in and stuff. We might get you guys to be able to ride and want to, I mean, radiant one of those. That would be awesome. I'm sorry. Just get us some strip levels. So I will do whatever you want us to do. Okay. I'm going to have a lot of extra waffles, throat waffle, apple
tart. We're going to have some beater ball and cost singles. We're going to have a week, man. I could not be more excited. Have you guys looked at a weather? That's the other. Okay. Yeah, it's kind of, it's kind of, man, like kind of wet, partly cloudy, passing showers. That sort of thing. My wife's coming over, Alex. She's, she's coming over to Bruton, the European side. She'll ever Swedish flag with her and everything like that. But I've told her how great this event is.
She's like, I want to go. So that's all. She's coming over. Should, should be their Saturday and Sunday. It's fantastic. Now, we're going to have a great time. Or maybe film an earlier part of the week. That'll be out. I don't know when. Sometimes this fall. Maybe next year. Don't know. Glenn. Exactly. I have checked the count of eight. It'll be out in beginning at the same beginning in December. So yeah, it's going to be, we've had this one circle for a long time.
We're greatly, greatly looking forward to it. We're going to be the live after each round of play from on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Like we have been for the last several years for one of our favorite events in golf. So tune in. Get up early, watch some, some coffee golf. It's going to be great viewing.
