U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf are taking material hits in the war against Iran and
“warning about intensified repercussions.”
In the latest action of the region of Iran says Israel attacked its large southern gas field and Tehran vowed with tallyation against energy sites across the Gulf. NPR's Avabatrani has the latest from Dubai." Immediately after Israel's attack on Iran's South-Parse gas field, the Gulf Arab states of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates issued statements calling it a dangerous escalation.
Qatar said Israel's attack targeted the Iranian side of the underwater gas field the two countries share. It said the attack is a threat to global energy security and the environment. The UAE, meanwhile, said the attack exposes civilians, vital facilities and the environment to direct risks.
Soon after, though, Qatar Energy said its rustle-fent industrial city was hit by missiles,
resulting in fires and extensive damage. Qatar, one of the world's biggest producers of liquefied natural gas, has already suspended production due to Iranian counterattacks in the war. And Saudi Arabia says its forces destroyed drones approaching a gas plant in the east on Wednesday, as well as drones aimed at Riyadh's diplomatic quarter, where the U.S. embassy
has already been hit. A. Abatrani and Pernus, Dubai. "Center to Markway and Mughal and President Trump's pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, face pushback from senators, including one Republican at his confirmation hearing Wednesday, Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky sought to challenge Mughalans' fitness
for the job, saying Mughalan had anger issues and a confronted Mughalan over statements he
made when Paul was attacked by a neighbor in 2017." "Today I'll give you that chance to clear the record, tell it to my face.
“If that's what you believe, tell it to me today, tell the world, why you believe I deserve”
to be assaulted from behind, have six ribs broken in a damage lung, tell me to my face, why you think I deserve to?" "Mughalan insists he'll be a steady hand at the Department, but follow President Trump's immigration policies." Stock stumbled today as the federal reserve held interest rate steady, and PR Scott Horsley
reports the Fed is sticking to its forecast of one quarter rate cut. The war with Iran has already triggered a sharp jump in gasoline and diesel prices, but Fed chairman Jerome Powell says it's too soon to tell, how big or lasting that effect might be. Powell's term as chairman is set to expire in May, but President Trump's picture of
place Powell has not been confirmed yet, so he may end up serving longer. "If my successor is not confirmed by the end of my term as chair, I would serve as chair a pro-tem until he is confirmed, that is what the law calls for, and it's what we're going to do in this situation."
“A Republican Senator is blocking the confirmation of Kevin Worsh's Fed chair until the”
Justice Department drops his investigation of the Fed. The federal judge ruled that probe is simply a pressure tactic to get the central bank to lower interest rates. Scott Horsley and Piano is Washington. "And you're listening to NPR News from Washington."
Therapist at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California and the Central Valley are holding a 24-hour strike. His NPR's retu-chatterly reports the protest is in part over concerns about artificial intelligence. The providers on strike are citing violations of state and federal mental health laws by Kaiser Permanente, but company has paid millions of dollars to California and the federal government
for failing to provide adequate and timely mental health care. The striking workers are concerned that Kaiser's use of AI will take their jobs and further affect patient care. Eliana Marcucci Morris is a social worker at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland. "I fear for the future around AI being used more for behavioral health care because, you
know, what we do is human work." Kaiser told NPR in an email that the company does not use AI to make medical or any other care decisions, read the strategy and PR news. The nation's largest retail trading group, the National Retail Federation, said Wednesday, that annual retail sales this year will increase by 4.4%.
That's higher than last year and it comes despite the volatility in the economy because of the US is really war against Iran and higher oil prices. The Treasury Department at Wednesday issued a license to Venezuela's state-run oil company that allows it to sell an export Venezuelan oil to US buyers and global markets. It's a way for the Trump administration to get more international oil into the marketplace
and attempt to lower oil prices which have soared because of the war. I'm Dan Ronin, NPR News. Support for NPR.
