Iran State broadcaster published a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, saying that while there are efforts by countries in the region to reduce tensions, Trump's statement
is aimed at reducing energy prices in order to gain time to implement his military plans.

“New York's LaGuardia Airport is closed after a deadly collision between a passenger plane”
arriving from Montréal and a fire truck that was on the runway. Officials say two pilots were killed. Steve Castenbaum reports federal aviation investigators are there. The nose of the Air Canada Regional Jet was completely demolished when it slammed into a fire truck that was crossing the runway just as the plane landed at LaGuardia late last
night. Port Authority officials say the pilot and copilot were killed.
41 people were taken to nearby hospitals, some with serious injuries, most have since been
released. Two police officers who were on that fire truck were also injured. They were called out to respond to a report of an odor in another passenger jet. For NPR News, I'm Steve Castenbaum, LaGuardia Airport, in New York. The partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security is in its fifth week.
Americans are feeling some of the stranded airports, transportation security administration workers are going without pay. Starting today, President Trump says he's deploying federal immigration agents to airports to help TSA check points. NPR's Luke Garrett says Trump is put his borders are Tom Homan in charge.
Homan said he was still working with TSA and ICE to finalize a deployment plan. Homan called the operation a quote "work in progress" but he did give some parameters on a task's ICE will and won't be doing. Homan said he expects ICE agents to guard exits and entry points at the nation's busiest airports.
And he told CNN, ICE agents will leave the specialized security work to TSA. The beer's Luke Garrett, the president of the Union for TSA workers condemned the plan, he said ICE agents are untrained and that they are going to make airport security worse.
