Live from NPR News in Washington, on Corva Coleman, President Trump says ther...
conversations happening with Iran and he says until Friday, he'll pause any U.S. bombing
of Iranian power plants.
“But Iran's foreign ministry says there are no talks happening, only that the U.S. sent messages”
through friendly countries to Iran and that Iran responded. And beer's air patrol says it will be hard for any kind of ceasefire talks to get started. "There's just no trust, you know, to Iran and Washington were just in talks last month when the U.S. and Israel decided to launch this war. And with Iran's top leaders killed, including its top negotiator last week, it's unclear
who would be speaking on behalf of Iran. Now, Trump has laid out stiff demands for ending the war. He's talked about no nuclear enrichment, degrading its missiles, and he's been clear about Iran cutting off support to Shia militias in like Lebanon and Iraq.
But Iran has rejected these demands even long before this war began, and it says now that
it even wants compensation. "And beer's air patrol reporting. Afghanistan's Taliban rulers have released American citizen Dennis Coil, who'd been detained for a year."
“Earlier this month, the State Department designated Afghanistan a sponsor of wrongful detention”
or hostage diplomacy, and beer's Dia Hadid has more. "I've got to stand on Iran with singled out by the State Department in early March for their practice of detaining Americans as a form of leverage. Coil was detained in January 2025 while in the Afghan capital Kabul. This describes a 64-year-old academic who focused on Afghanistan's many language communities.
It's not clear why the Taliban detained him. Two Taliban spokesperson people did not respond to requests for comment, but in a statement, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said Coil's release came on the occasion of Aiden Fitter, the celebration that Marksy End of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Dia Died, and Pyannus, Maita."
President Trump has deployed ice agents to about a dozen airports across the country. They're supposed to help TSA agents who are not getting paid, because of the partial shut-down at the Department of Homeland Security. Many TSA agents have quit and were called out. From Georgia Public Broadcasting, Sophie Grattas has more on the situation at Atlanta's
main airport. On Monday, most of the ice agents at the airport were seen walking around near the main security checkpoints and observing the area. That's after wait times reached up to five hours that morning. And Deming had just arrived in Atlanta when she said she got some help from one ice agent
finding the airport shows. "And he was like, "Oh, I just go downstairs." I mean, nothing too major, but yeah. But super nice, super helpful." The airport website that would normally show wait times instead, just tells passengers to
come four hours ahead of their flight. And even with a little law on Monday evening, TSA officers in Atlanta told me, as long as they're not paid, there's likely no end-in-sight to long lines at peak hours. For MPR news, I'm Sophie Grattas. On Wall Street stocks are mixed, the Dow's up 80 points, the Nasdaq is down 100.

A study finds that one of the best ways to prevent kidney stones is to drink more water. And Pierre's Allison Aubrey has more on the latest research published in the Annals of
Internal Medicine.
About a million Americans go to the ER with painful kidney stones each year that kidneys
filter blood to remove waste from our bodies and help the body balance fluids electrolytes and to acid. But imbalances can cause crystals to form in lead to stones. Review of 31 studies found that among people who'd already had a kidney stone, it's possible to significantly reduce the likelihood of a recurrence by increasing fluid intake.
Experts recommend about eight cups of water per day. Researchers found a low sodium diet and decreasing animal protein may help too, and there's some evidence that adding a little lemon juice to water may also reduce recurrence.
