Live from NPR News, I'm Jial Snyder, a fragile two-week ceasefire is in place...

than five weeks of war between the U.S. Israel and Iran.

NPR's D-parb has went to the border of Turkey and Iran to hear what Iranians have

to say about the ceasefire.

The first two days of the ceasefire have been shaky with strikes of very severity happening

in Lebanon, Iran, Israel and the Gulf Arab states. The Iranians, I spoke to the border, didn't want to be named fear and reprisal upon the return, and none of them believe that the temporary truce would hold. The position they've stated are too far apart from each other, said one man. After two weeks, it's highly likely that there will be war set a 30-year-old from Tehran.

Talks between the U.S. and Iran are set to take place in Islamabad on Saturday. D-parb has MPR News Vaughn Turkey. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seemed to give the ceasefire a boost Thursday. He said he has authorized direct negotiations with Lebanon, and that disarming has

below militants Lebanese authorities have not yet responded.

First lady Melania Trump delivered a statement at the White House Thursday to nine

ties to Jeffrey Epstein and any knowledge of his crimes. The lies linking me with a disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. Melania Trump also denied that Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump and said that she is not one of Epstein's victims, George Congress, to hold public hearings for them.

Melania Trump's statement seemed to come out of the blue, a spokesman for the first lady said the West Wing knew beforehand that she'd be giving a statement, but it's not clear for specific remarks were known. The federal agency that supports the nation's libraries is now guaranteed to continue its

congressional mandated work.

MPR's Glow-Eveltman reports on the settlement agreement reached Thursday between the

Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Justice Department, and the American Library Association, along with the Workers Union that part to preserve the agency. The agreement resolves litigation from last year, challenging the Trump administration's attempt to dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services through executive action. It ensures that grants will continue workers will keep their jobs and it puts an end

to attempts by the administration to further target the Institute. Sam Helmick is the president of the American Library Association. We now can continue to focus on funding our libraries showing up for our libraries and promoting literacy and lifelong learning, which is what we're all about. The Institute of Museum and Library Services declined to comment, "Clubby Valtman NPR News."

And you're listening to NPR News. The Artemis-2 astronauts are preparing for Friday evenings returned to Earth at three Americans in one Canadian, and now under 150,000 miles from home after setting a new distance record during Monday's lunar flyby, they're aiming for a splashdown in the Pacific off the coast of San Diego. Three federal apella judges are weighing music mogulshank homes appeal of his

conviction in prison sentence. They heard arguments for some two-hoursers day in New York homes attorneys say his conviction on prostitution charges should be reversed, or he should at least be freed in recentants to less time. That issue is whether the judge who's sentenced him went to far and considering evidence supporting behavior he was acquitted up prosecutors oppose the arguments. A new study appears to show how the brain is able to imagine things that can't see.

The Empire's John Hamilton reports on the research in the journal science. Researchers wanted to understand how memory and imagination work together in the brain, Tharun Wadiya of Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Caltech says it takes both functions to accomplish something people do every day. I can look at an object in the world around me, but I can also close my eyes and imagine the object. So Wadiya and a team studied

the activity of more than 700 neurons in 16 people. The scientists found that the same neurons that fire when someone looks at an object also fire when a person imagines that object. The finding supports earlier evidence from brain scans, suggesting that seeing and imagining activate the same circuits. John Hamilton and PR news. And I'm Joel Snyder. This is NPR News.
