Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Janine Herbst.

At investigation into the shooting at the White House correspondent's dinner in Washington

last night continues, and Piers confirmed the suspect is Cole Allen, and details about

him are slowly emerging. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch tells NBC's meet the press, Allen's believed to have been targeting administration officials, and Piers Daniel Kurtzleben has more. The White House official today told NPR that Allen's brother shortly before last night's shooting notified law enforcement about a piece of writing, Allen had composed and sent

to his family members, NPR has not independently read or verified that writing. But the White House official also said that Allen's sister had told law enforcement that Allen at times, quote, "reference to plan to do something to fix the issues with today's world." And again, that's in the words of the White House official.

In Piers Daniel Kurtzleben, Allen has a court appearance tomorrow.

Looking in palace as King Charles and Queen Camilla are still coming to Washington tomorrow for a state visit, despite the shooting at the dinner last night, but the trip comes at a time when relations between the two countries are under increasing strain. And Piers fought my al-Qasap has more.

President Trump has sharply criticized the UK and British Prime Minister Geist Palmer in recent

months. Over Starman's decision not to join the U.S. and Israel's war in Iran. Only hope the visit from King Charles, whom the President still admires, will help men to the transatlantic relationship. But Royal Biographer Catherine Mayer says the British government's decision to send the

king at this turbulent time puts the royal couple in an awkward position. "There is also then a kind of series of tight ropes that they're forcing, Charles and Camilla to walk by doing this." Another delicate matter she says is the subject of the king's disgraced brother, Andrew, who had close ties with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, Fatma Al-Qasap and Piani's

London. The furthest to hold its latest policy meeting this week in what may be Jerome Powell's last time presiding over the gathering as chair of the Central Bank, and Piers Rafael Nam has more. Powell's termist chair is due to expire in May, but he has said he wouldn't step down

until a criminal investigation by the Department of Justice into renovations being done at the Fed was dropped. Powell had blasted the probe as being intended to pressure the Central Bank into lowering interest rates. The DOJ dropped that investigation on Friday, paving the way for the confirmation of Kevin

Worsh, who has been nominated by President Trump to succeed Powell. That makes it likely Powell will step down as chair. The question, though, is whether he stays on the Fed's board. Powell doesn't have to announce he's positioned this week, but a lot of eyes will definitely be on him, Rafael Nam, in Piani's news.

U.S. features contracts are trading in mixed territory, you're listening to NPR news from Washington. Bonnar butterflies have been in decline for decades, even though some populations appear to be stabilizing. Scientists have been gluing tiny, circular tags about the size of a three-hole

punch scrap into the wings of monarchs to track the insects. But now, there are new solar power tags, Northwest Public Broadcasts and a King has more. David James is a processor based and topologist working on the project. We used to say with the conventional tags, it was equivalent to a person having their

keys in their pocket, you know, in terms of weight. This tag is heavier, obviously, and it's more like carrying a backpack. The only hitch, each little tag costs $200. So they're asking for help adopting each butterfly. You can find the details on how to adopt a monarch online.

There's an app that will allow you to track the tag butterflies on your cell phone. For NPR news, I'm Anna King. So we can box office Michael, the big budget Michael Jackson Project, took the top spot with an estimated $97 million in ticket sales. The authorized biopic shrugged off bad reviews and production problems.

The film stays away from Jackson's controversy, its reputation had been tarnished by allegations of sexual abuse of children, which he denied.
