Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Winter Johnston.

President Trump and the First Lady were evacuated from the Washington Hilton last night

after gunshots were fired at the White House car as Fondance Dinner. This return later at the White House, the President urged Unity, noting that the dinner had drawn a rare mix of political voices under one roof. But in light of this evening's events, I asked that all Americans recommit with their hearts in resolving our difference peacefully.

We have to resolve our differences. I will say, you had Republicans, Democrats, independents, conservatives, liberals, and progressives. Those words are interchangeable, perhaps, but maybe they're not, but yet everybody in that room, big crowd, record setting crowd.

There was a record setting group of people. The authorities say a suspect approached the security checkpoint at the hotel and opened

fire at Secret Service agents before being taken into custody.

Jenny Abamu from Ember Station, W.A.M.U. reports one agent was shot by the gunman. A Secret Service uniformed division officer was struck in his vest. He was transported to the hospital on the official state. He appears to be in good spirits. A secret service director, Sean Kern, is being observed and grateful that the president

reached out to this officer and spoke with him earlier. Investigators say at this point, it appears to have act alone. He appears to have been a guest at the hotel, and that there's no ongoing threats to public. The investigation is continuing.

That's Jenny Abamu from Ember Station, W.A.M.U. reporting. U.S. Attorney Janine Pirro says the suspect is facing multiple federal charges in connection with the shooting. She says they're expected to include weapons related offenses tied to the attack.

The suspect is scheduled to be arranged in federal court on Monday.

outgoing, Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban says he'll resign his seat in Parliament after losing the election this month. Harry Schultz reports Orban says he'll work on rebuilding his political base after the landslide to date.

When the newly elected Hungarian Parliament convenes May 9, it will be the first time since

1990, the Victor Orban does not take a seat. I am not now needed in Parliament, Orban said in a social media post, but in the reorganization of the patriotic movement. In a vote held two weeks ago, his fetish party dropped from 135 seats to 52. Challenger Peter Majer, the likely next Prime Minister, one more than two-thirds of seats

with his new center-right Tisa Party. He vows to a tap corruption adhere to the rule of law and bring Hungary back to a good relationship with the European Union. For NPR News, I'm Terry Schultz and Brussels. This is NPR News in Washington.

The London Marathon, Kenya's Sebastian Saway, has set a world record becoming the first person to officially run a marathon in under two hours. Saway's time of one hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds beats the previous record by more than a minute. The famous Rocky Balboa statue in Philadelphia is moving indoors to be featured in a new

exhibit. The city's Museum of Art is launching, rising up, Rocky and the making of monuments. NPR is a lot of wise reports. The exhibit comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of the original movies release this fall. The statue is instantly recognizable.

A bronze Rocky Balboa portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, raising his hands above his head, and a show of triumph despite the odds. The fictional heavyweight champion has become one of Philadelphia's most famed figures. In his statue standing at top of the museum steps is a sacred pilgrimage for fans.

But in the 40 years since it was first unveiled, this is the first time it's been brought

inside the museum. The Rocky exhibition will feature over 150 pieces of art for more than 50 artists. The museum described the statue as part of the city's "sivic and cultural identity." The exhibition will run through August 2nd, Alana Wise and PR News. To wildfires in Southeastern Georgia are continuing to threaten homes as strong windswades
