“The proposal would see Iran open the straight of Hormuz for the free flow of ships again,”
and exchange the war would end, and the U.S. Navy would stop its blockade." But NPR's A.A. Batrary reports, the plan would leave nuclear negotiations for later. "A proposal like this was put forth weeks ago by China, which relies on oil from Iran in the Gulf. It appears Iran has now submitted a similarly-worded proposal to President Trump.
When asked by reporters, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt said the proposal was being discussed by President Trump and his national security team on Monday," and added, "The President's red lines with respect to Iran have been made very, very clear, not just to the American public, but also to that as well." The closure of the straight of Hormuz has trapped oil and gas tankers with oil trading above

Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Meritz has criticized the U.S. Israeli war. He called it "il conceived," and said it lacks an exit plan, as me Nicholson reports from Berlin. Speaking to students at a school Chancellor Friedrich Meritz said the Trump administration has misjudged the Iranian regime.
"The Iranians are obviously very skilled at negotiating, or rather very skilled for that not negotiating, letting the Americans travel to Islamabad and then leave again empty handed," he said, adding that "an entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership. It's compared the conflict with previous long U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, urging the White House to find a way out quickly, stressing the burden the war is putting on
Germany's already belieged economy. Meritz repeated his offer to deploy minesweepers to the Strait of Hormuz. For MPI News, I'm Asmenikelson in Berlin." King Charles will address a joint meeting of Congress this afternoon.

A California healthcare workers' union has submitted more than one and a half million signatures
to place a question about taxing billionaires on the state's November ballot. From Member Station KQED, is he Bloom reports? If election officials certify the signatures, California voters will decide whether to impose a one-time 5% tax on the assets of the state's billionaires. Most of the revenue would help back fill federal healthcare cuts signed by the Trump administration.
Suzanne Jimenez is chief of staff for the union pushing the measure. At the end of this, this is really about solving a problem that is making sure hospitals, clinics and ER stay open. Opponents are funding a rival measure backed by Silicon Valley billionaires, including Google co-founder Sergei Bryn that would nullify the billionaire tax.
If both measures pass, the one with more yes votes will take effect. For NPR News, I'm Izzy Bloom in San Francisco.
