The U.S. War with the Rons at the 60-day mark, the deadline for Congress to formally
“authorize use of force, grant the President, and additional 30-day extension or require”
troops beat withdrawn, but congressional Republicans continue to overcome a democratic lead push to enforce the war power's resolution of 1973. The administration argues the war is already ended because of April's ceasefire. However, the U.S. and Iran are still enforcing competing blockades on oil and other shipments in a straight-of-arms move.
President Trump spoke to Pakistan's attempt to mediate a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran. "They've made strides, but I'm not sure if they ever get there." President Trump addressing reporters at the White House before leaving today for Florida. Posted on social media that he will raise the tariff on European-made cars and trucks from
15 percent to 25 percent.
He says Europe is not complying with an agreed trade deal. The move will hit German companies in particular and as NPR's Camilla Dominozki tells

in Iran." The Supreme Court has thrown out many of President Trump's signature tariffs, but tariffs on cars are imposed under a separate authority. They remain in place. Trump posted that automakers could build vehicles in the U.S. tear a free and companies have moved some production.
But on a call with investors earlier this week, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Bloom said there are limits. "We can't do both, I'm paying high-terrorists on the one hand side and on the other side heavily invest in new capacities."
U.S. tariffs cost Volkswagen $4.7 billion last quarter.
Milla Dominozki and B.R. News. Early voting starts tomorrow in all races across Louisiana except the primary contest for the U.S. House of Representatives. This week by about a six to three the U.S. Supreme Courts conservative justices struck down Louisiana's redrawn map that created a second majority black district.
The ruling week in the Voting Rights Act enacted during the Civil Rights era to help shield people of color from discrimination and voting. George F says it's too late for that state to change its congressional maps for 2026 but Governor Brian Kamp leaves the door open for new lines in time for 2028. We have more from NPR Stephen Fowler.
More than 150,000 people have already voted in George's May 19th primary. In a statement, Kamp praised the Supreme Court's decision and said any potential changes to George's lines would be aimed at the 2028 cycle. A federal judge ordered George's U.S. House maps to be redrawn in 2023, binding the lines discriminated against black voters in Metro Atlanta.
The old map and new one is expected to elect nine Republicans in five Democrats in a state that also has competitive races for Governor and U.S. Senate this year. Stephen Fowler, NPR News. This is NPR. Former Florida congressman David Rivera has been found guilty of secretly lobbying for Venezuela.
Terra, a longtime friend of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, was convicted today in Miami
“on charges related to a secret $50 million pro Venezuela campaign during the first Trump”
administration. Rivera's code defendant, Astra Newfair, was also convicted on all counts including conspiracy to commit money laundering. In Mali, much of the country is still reeling after militants launched. Some of the largest coordinated attacks seen in more than a decade last week.
The groups have mounted a blockade on roads leading to several cities, including the capital bombacope and authorities in neighboring Burkinafaso say they're working to prevent similar attacks on their soil, and PR's Jewelbright has a latest. At least three of the six major roads leading to Bermaco have been closed by militants according to residents.
It also blockade has also been imposed on the nearby town of Segur, even thousands of people stranded on major routes. The blockades are being mounted by the Alkairda-Linked Genim Group, which carried out large killer attacks while the weekend alongside Twarriq separatists rebels. Last year, Genim militants mounted a few blockades on Bermaco, causing severe fuel shortages
in the city. On Tuesday, Twarriq rebels called on Russian forces who have been fighting alongside Mali's army to leave the country, but a spokesperson for the Russian government has said Russian forces would remain. I'm Lakshmi Singh, NPR News.
