"Lie from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.

A new NPR PBS News mayors poll finds President Trump at the lowest point in his presidency politically as people across the United States contend with high gas prices, linked to the U.S.'s unpopular war with Iran, and Piers of Medical Monchonero tells NPR's

up first, "The poll suggests Democrats have a significant advantage six months before

the midterm elections."

When people were asked if congressional elections were held today, who would they vote for?

They chose Democrats by 10 points. That's a pretty big edge if you look at past election performances. And Democrats also have the edge on a really key factor here in enthusiasm. Their eight points more likely than Republicans to say they're "very enthusiastic to vote this November."

NPR is Dominican Monchonero reporting convicted spy Jonathan Pollard says he will run for office in Israel's parliamentary elections this year. Pollard spent 30 years in U.S. prison for spying for Israel. Now he tells NPR he is remorseful for his espionage crime. And Piers Daniel Estrin reports from Tel Aviv.

Jonathan Pollard was a U.S. Navy intelligence analyst who sold military secrets to Israel in the 1980s. The espionage affair served a blow to U.S. Israel relations for years. He moved to Israel in 2020 he defended his actions saying he had no choice.

Now he tells NPR he should have found a "legal way to act on his concerns for Israel's

security." "I made a mistake. I didn't think about the consequences." And 30 years later, here I am, trying to leave a better legacy. He says he will run in Israeli parliamentary elections later this year.

He's joined a fringe right-wing party. Daniel Estrin and PR news, Tel Aviv. Labt has confirmed that the deadly cruise ship outbreak of Hattivirus is a strangle and he's virus. NPR's Gabriella Manual reports the specific type of Hattivirus is known to spread

human to human. People are typically infected with Hattivirus after inhaling virus particles from rotting urine feces or saliva. However, Andy's Hattivirus is known to be transmitted between people who are in very close contact.

"Carry Devink" is at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. "What they're doing is isolating people mostly in their rooms, allowing them to go to kind of the open decks where, you know, the ventilation is good." The World Health Organization says personal protective equipment has been brought on board. Three passengers have died and there are five other patients including one in a hospital in South

Africa and another in a hospital in Switzerland. Devink says the risk to the general public is very low. Gabriella Emmanuel and PR News. "Ternor founder of CNN and other cable channels died today. He was 87 years old.

From Washington, this is NPR News." Tennessee Republicans are proposing a congressional map that would divide Memphis's Shelby County into multiple districts in an effort to eliminate the state's lone Democratic held seat. Tennessee's Republican governor called a special legislative session to consider redistricting

after the U.S. Supreme Court recently weakened the Voting Rights Act. President Trump has urged Tennessee and other GOP-led states to redraw their maps as part of his mid-decade redistricting push. Comer Secretary Howard Letnik has been testifying on Capitol Hill and a closed or a meeting about his links to the Lincoln-victed sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Understanding maintains he did not have any relationship with his former neighbor. A new Republican proposal to fund the Department of Homeland Security's immigration

enforcement teams for the rest of Trump's term also includes a billion dollars to secure

a new ballroom at the White House. NPR's Eric Daniel, McDaniel, has to tales. It's a nearly $75 billion three-year plan to fund the immigration enforcement teams inside of DHS. But there are some smaller pots of money in the proposal to fund other parts of the agency,

including a billion dollars for the Secret Service, targeted at security measures for Trump's

White House ballroom, or as the White House staff calls it, the East Wing Modernization Project. The draft legislation says the money can not be used for construction, which the administration says has been funded so far just through private donations, long shot proposals from Congress to use taxpayer money for the project to have not gained any traction.
