"Live from NPR News in Washington on Corva Coleman, the Senate has passed a h...

that will fund federal immigration efforts for three years.

It's worth about $70 billion.

The Senate debate lasted about 18 hours and, in the end, it was a near-party line

vote. Democrats tried to add an amendment that would block one of President Trump's priorities. That's to create an early $2 billion fund to pay people who claimed they were targeted by the federal government. But it appears Barbara Sprint says that amendment failed."

There was bipartisan pushback at that anti-weaponization fund. The acting attorney general said it's not going to move forward, which seemed to satisfy senators. But then the President told reporters he didn't actually know if it was scrapped or not. And he said that knowing that there are these Republican senators who are uncomfortable

with the idea. So, this moment for congressional Republicans is about passing this priority after all this time. But it's also a moment where there's this increasing tension in conflict with the White House.

And I don't think that's stopping anytime soon.

And beer's Barbara Sprint reporting. Just a week after a Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in eastern Romania and armed drone exploded in Romanian port. Terry Schultz says there were no injuries or major damage. The Romanian defense ministry says the naval drone self-detinated mid-morning after being detected

earlier by authorities who closed off the area in the civilian port of Constantinople. While Romanian officials have not yet revealed whether the drone was Russian or Ukrainian, they did confirm it was not one of their own and described it as being of the type used in the war in Ukraine. Romanian President Nikosar Don was on his way to a European union summit with the incident

occurred. And he wrote on X that, quote, "such particularly serious situations are the direct consequences of the war of aggression unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed that expressing solidarity with Romania and saying Europe urgently needs more anti-drone capabilities.

For MPR news, I'm Terry Schultz and Brussels."
