Jordan says it's shot down five Iranian missiles fired toward Azruk in eastern Jordan. The U.S. military has a major presence in a Jordanian air base in the desert there.

Iran said it destroyed U.S. fighter jet hangers in the command and control center at the base. The U.S. military did not comment. Iran also targeted a U.S. air base in Kuwait, and in Bahrain where the U.S. fifth fleet is based, siren sounded while the government urged residents to seek shelter. Authorities in Hong Kong say seven people and two companies are facing charges as a result of last November's deadly fire that engulfed multiple high-rise apartment buildings.
The flames in smoke left one hundred sixty-eight people dead. The charges include manslaughter and conspiracy. Graham Platner has won the Democratic nomination in Maine's U.S. Senate primary. The U.S. military veteran and oyster farmer will face Republican incumbent Susan Collins in November.

In South Carolina, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham won his party's nomination as he seeks a fifth term in office. The state's gubernatorial primary, Lieutenant Governor at Pamela Evett, will advance to a Republican primary runoff in two weeks against the state's attorney general, Alan Wilson. Evett is backed by President Trump. NASA has announced the crew members for its Artemis-3 mission, Brendan Byrne with Central Florida Public Media reports. NASA's Randy Brezznik is commanding the mission, along with fellow astronauts Frank Rubio and Andre Douglas as mission specialists.
European Space Agency astronaut Luca Barbetano will serve as mission pilot. Their mission will test the Orion spacecraft's ability to dock with two lunar landers, designed by SpaceX and Blue Origin. While the mission is staying in low Earth orbit, the future of NASA's lunar plans depend on the success of Artemis-3, Commander Randy Brezznik.

Despite an explosion at its launch pad last month, Blue Origin said it will be ready to launch its lander for this mission next year. SpaceX continues to develop its landing vehicle, completing a 12th test flight of Starship last month. For NPR News, I'm Brendan Burr in Orlando. This is NPR News from Washington. Congress has given final approval to a bill that funds federal immigration enforcement for the next three years.
The $70 billion measure cleared the house yesterday, 214-212 over the objections of Democratic lawmakers.
The bill was approved by the Senate last week, much of the money 38 billion will fund U.S. immigration and customs enforcement. A new study shows infants whose mothers received the vaccine for RSV while pregnant are much less likely to be hospitalized in their first three months after birth. Scott Masione with Member Station WIPR reports. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine saw vaccine effectiveness that nearly 70% for infants under 90 days whose mothers got the RSV vaccine while pregnant.
Vaccine effectiveness was almost 75% for babies 30 days or younger. The results come from a retrospective study looking at data from the last two RSV seasons. RSV is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can be dangerous for babies and people over 65. It's the leading cause of hospitalization for infants in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends pregnant individuals get the vaccine between 32 and 36 weeks of pregnancy.
