"Live from NPR News in Washington on Corva Coleman, Iran and the USA, they'll...

agreement Friday and Switzerland to extend the ceasefire.

They'll hold direct talks for the first time since April."

But NPR's A-Betrali reports, "The details of the memorandum of understanding to be signed have not yet been made public."

Iran's mayor news agency, which is close to Iran's powerful revolutionary guard, says

12 billion dollars in frozen assets will be available to Iran in the initial phase of the deal. 12 billion dollars more will be released over the course of negotiations and that oil sanctions will be lifted. Vice President JD Vans told Fox News that Iranians, "Don't get a dime unless they

change their behavior." But says there's an upside, too. "There's a lot of economic benefit in the United States for leaving a lot of sanctions and welcoming them back into the world economy. There's a lot of benefit."

Vans is set to lead the U.S. and talks with Iran this Friday. Iran says it will be represented by Muhammad Bagra Rallybath, a senior politician and former commander in the Revolutionary Guard. A-Betrali and Pernu's Cairo.

President Trump is attending the G7 meeting of leaders in France, in addition to the news

from Iran. The leaders are also talking about Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is attending with them. Trump says he's meant Zelensky already today and plans to meet him again. There are some primary elections today and run-offs.

That includes Georgia, where there are closely watched Republican run-off contests for the GOP Gubernatorial and U.S. Senate nominations, and B.R. Steven Fowler has more on other votes today. "In Oklahoma, you've got this series of musical chairs happening where there are a bunch of open seats.

After a former Senator Mark Wayne Mullin was appointed the new Homeland Security Secretary. In Alabama, there are some run-offs including both parties nominees for U.S. Senate. And in D.C., there is a highly consequential may-oral primary. You've got the race to be the district's non-boding member of Congress, and the rollout of a new ranked choice voting system for all you election nerds out there like me."

NPR is Steven Fowler reporting.

The legal team for the man accused of killing United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson will

return to court today. There's a pre-trial hearing in New York City, NPR's Brian Mann reports Luigi Mangeoni is drawing "Support." Mangeoni is pleaded not guilty to charges he stalked and murdered health insurance CEO Brian Thompson in 2024.

Legal experts say they're surprised by the public's support Mangeoni is drawn with more than 40,000 people donating to his legal defense fund, analyst Richard Choenstein says Mangeoni's popularity among some on the left means jury selection will be difficult. "I think it's going to be challenging. Your concern is going to be that the jurors aren't being honest with you when they answer

questions about their ability to remain fair and impartial." State Judge Gregory Carroll has ruled a pistol allegedly owned by Mangeoni can be used as evidence in the trial. Brian Mann and PR news, New York. This is NPR.

The Food and Drug Administration has granted Colorado approval to begin importing some prescription drugs from Canada, many of them cost less. From Colorado Public Radio, John Daley has more. The FDA authorized Colorado to import a list of 20 drugs from Canada. Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat, said importing popular drugs like Eusempick and

eloquist, could make them up to 70% cheaper, saving consumers millions.

This is a really critical step.

This has been a long time in the making. It's the second state after Florida to receive this authorization. But drug importation has reportedly faced opposition from pharmaceutical manufacturers and the Canadian government over safety and supply worries. For NPR News, I'm John Daley.

At the World Cup yesterday, three games ended in ties. Iran held even with New Zealand, two to two. Saudi Arabia and Uruguay tied one to one and in a surprise, the small islands of Cape Verde held Spain to a nil nil tie. In today's World Cup games, France will face Senegal, Iraq will take on Norway, and Algeria

takes on defending World Cup men's champion Argentina. On core of a Coleman, NPR News in Washington. This is our glass. On this American life, when they mean like, it's a good mystery. Sometimes about really big things, but most times, the little mysteries of the best.
