The emergency medical technician training program at Iowa Central Community College is the first workforce Pell program approved by the Trump administration. Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, announced the designation alongside Iowa's governor. Workforce Pell is an expansion passed in 2025 of the decades-old federal Pell grant program.
Estimates from the Education Department and from the Congressional Budget Office said the benefit could help 100,000 or more students by the fall of 2027.
