Iran is issuing new demands around reopening the Strait of Hormuz, it wants the US to
“lift its naval blockade and sanctions with draw its military, pay reparations, and release”
Iranian assets. NPR's Hedil Al-Saltjit says Iranian leaders have an incentive to drag out negotiations to put political pressure on President Trump. The conversation inside Iran is very much about President Trump's vulnerability ahead of the midterms.
Iran is very aware of the US political discourse, Iranian media tracks, Trump's polling rates, it discusses how the Democratic Party's basis shifting.
For example, a news agency closely tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard published
an article entitled The Iran War and the start of Trump's political decline, outlining Trump's drop in popularity and the dilemma he faces if he continues the war. The White House has not commented on the demands. The elite Michigan Arts School where Jeffrey Epstein allegedly found some of his earliest victims has sexual abuse allegations that spans seven decades.
That's according to a new report from an outside law firm hired by Interlocken Center for the Arts. NPR's Ava Burger spoke with a victim of abuse at the school. In 2005, two months after he turned 16, Paul Bush was molested by his Interlocken Ballet teacher.
The teacher later pleaded guilty to the abuse. I don't even know how differently my life would have gone, have this event not occurred. The big question is, how could this happen at such a well-known institution, a place with
“successful alum, such as Chapel Roan and Josh Grobin?”
The report's findings and Bush's experience provides some indications. In many cases, adults were able to meet a lone with students. At the same time, the children at the school had limited communication with their families. They were vulnerable because of their age, sexual identities, lack of experience, and some were scared to report their abuse.
Ava Burger and Pianus. Wildfires have led to evacuations throughout western portions of the U.S. and in Canada. NPR's Shondalese Duster has more. Evacuation orders have been issued across western parts of the U.S. and southwest Canada as extremely hot and dry conditions fueled the spread of wildfires in the region.
In Utah, officials say close to a dozen active wildfires have scorched more than 300,000 acres as of Sunday evening. Fire officials say two helicopter pilots died on Friday while battling a wildfire in the state that has burned over 100,000 acres.

large wildfires across the U.S. The center also says more than 180 new fires, including eight large ones, have been reported nationwide since Saturday. A state of emergency has also been declared in Canada's British Columbia Province, where more than 100 wildfires are burning.

The four-caster savings film industry is on track to have its first 10 billion dollar
years since 2019. But through the end of July in 2019, cinemas had sold 747 million tickets. This year's ticket sales are way down, fewer than 500 million. What's keeping the dollar totals high is prices. Seven years ago, the average movie ticket cost $9.16.
Today, audience fondness for premium formats like IMAX has pushed the average ticket price above $13, which means fewer patrons for bigger event films. Whether that's a thing of always a big question, but this summer it's led to a slew of box office records, including the biggest overall weekend in Hollywood history, Bob Mondello and Pianus.
Jerry Selection began today in the trial of a man accused of orchestrating the murder of rap icon to Poch Shakur in 1996, the trial of Dwayne Keefe-D Davis is expected to last a month in Las Vegas, prosecutors alleged that Davis made the calls that led to Shakur's death and provided the gun used to kill him. The case was cold until public statements and a tell all memoir from Davis revived the
case. Western Europe's summer heat waves set an average temperature record for June and July, melting a previous record set in 2022, the extreme heat began in May and has contributed to major wildfires and prolonged drought. This is NPR.
