Luigi Mangione has pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in the New York courtroom today,
“connecting to the connected rather to the shooting death of United Healthcare CEO, Brian Thompson.”
Emperor's Brian Mann was in the courtroom and has more. - Speaking in federal court, Luigi Mangione told the judge, "I knew what I was doing." He said, "I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan and he died." When the judge asked Luigi Mangione how he pleaded, Mangione said guilty, sentencing in this case is now set for December.
According to the judge, the prosecution has recommended a sentence that would be more than 20 years behind bars. But the judge said repeatedly that the exact penalty that she hands down could be very different. - And here's Brian Mann reporting from New York. - Federal regulators have opened a probe into so-called "Mention Markets."
As NPR's Bobby Allen reports, "It's a type of prediction market, betting that allows
people to wager on words spoken by the president, executives, and sportscasters during live, and even sometimes pre-recorded events." - "Mention markets have surged in popularity on sites like Calshian Polymarket, despite critics who say the markets are easy to rig.
“Now the commodity future-straining commission has opened a review of this type of betting,”
as regulators determine if the markets are susceptible to manipulation. That's according to two sources with direct knowledge of the probe who are not authorized to speak publicly. In response, Calshian has removed all mentioned markets for sports, where people were able to bet on whether a sportscaster would say things like NVP, or jump shot, or over time.
The new review follows the revelation that President Trump's teleprompter operator had been profiting off the president's words on Calshian. Bobby Allen and PR news. Nigel Farage has regained his seat in the U.K.'s parliament, beating fringe candidates led by a trashcan wearing comet in a special election.

from an international crypto billionaire. He has denied any wrongdoing." U.T.L. sales fell more than four casters expected last month than PR Scott Horsley reports. Retail sales failed by six tenths of 1% last month as consumers dialed back their spending on both cars and appliances.
Internet sales also fell during July, partly because Amazon moved its prime day promotion up into June this year. US. Cruiser battling more than three dozen large wildfires in those states, Genie Kinsey with the mountain West News Bureau has more on the frivolous fire north of Santa Fe that's grown to more than 8,000 acres. Destructive fires in eastern Washington claimed hundreds of homes.
In the Reno area, a fast-moving blaze has prompted massive accusations. Now firefighters are striving to prevent the same in Santa Fe, a city known for its arts markets and rich history. At the moment, the biggest concern for residents is smoke. Charles Kuniochi is a forest service spokesperson.
It is recommended to keep your windows closed and if you don't need to go outside for any type of activities, you know, try to stay indoors. Health officials say smoke from fires can be dangerous, especially for people with chronic health conditions, the elderly and young children. The Santa Fe opera cancels some performances because of the conditions.
For NPR news, on Genie Kinsey, in Albuquerque. A Connecticut pet food company is voluntarily recalling some of its dog food because of concerns about Samanella. Almost pride says the recall affects one lot of the company's "wolf-complete canine chicken recipe dog food in six-pound bags," which tested positive for Samanella.
