In a courtroom in Massachusetts today, "At this point, I'm going to declare that
“the jury is deadlocked and I'm going to declare a misrial."”
Judge William Sullivan making the decision in the case of Lindsay Clancy, who admitted to killing her three children, but her attorneys say she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time. Her defense attorney, Kevin Reddington.
"Our priority has always been to fight for Cora, for Dawson, and for Calon."
Naming the Clancy children who were killed, the judge's verdict comes despite a dramatic appeal from Reddington over the actions of one juror who says he wasn't following the orders from the judge. juror is also told the judge several times they were deadlocked and he asked them to keep trying. District attorney Tim Crew says he's not sure whether he will retry the case.
She's returning to a mental health facility where she's been held for more than three years to continue treatment. Judge Sullivan said a hearing for September 29th, but the next steps are unclear. America is now in the final sprint to November and the midterm elections, and there's little question what the top issue is for voters, affordability.
And here's Tamara Keith has more from her swing shift project. We are checking in regularly with about a dozen swing voters in swing states, and they currently have a pretty dim view of the state of the country. Word or phrase, I would use to describe the country right now is stuck. I'd say chaotic, out of control.

Tennis grades and sisters, Serena Williams and Venus Williams, returned to the U.S. open tonight after four years away, they'll play together in the doubles tournament, as St. Pierre's William Jones reports. Venus Williams had two simple words that she reflected on the sisters' return to flushing
meadows, kind of chic.
The doubles team received a wild card entry, and it would be just their second tournament
together since Serena returned to the sport this summer. They played together at the Cincinnati open, and despite losing in the first round, Serena was optimistic. We kicked off a little rest in the middle of the match and just, you know, we're starting to fill it, and it was really fun.

Diesel Fuel has hit a record price in the U.S. soring to an average of $5.85 a gallon for
the first time. This comes as the U.S. s6 month war with Iran disrupts the world's flow of fuel, and because Diesel is used for many freight and delivery networks higher diesel prices means higher transportation costs for a long list of everyday goods.
