Iranian tankers today, and Iranian state media says Iran has launched missiles toward

seized an unmanned U.S. submarine, threatening further escalation and PR's Greg Mayary reports.
Iran's revolutionary guard course, as it trapped the submarine early Tuesday. This is according
to Iranian media reports. Iran claimed the sub was equipped with a latest technology and released photos of it being lifted out of the water. On the U.S. side, Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for Central Command, said the underwater drone malfunctioned while, quote, "surveying regional waters in support of ongoing operations." He described the drone as an older model that neither collected sensitive data nor carried any classified sonar or radar equipment. The U.S. and Iran
have maintained dueling blockades of the straight from months and continued to clash periodically. Greg Mayary, NPR News, Washington. President Trump says he's going to block the U.S. government's procurement system from buying Canadian goods. It comes after Canada put in place

Writing on a social media site true social Trump took "umbridge" with Canada's strict limits on American dairy imports, which has been a historical point of contention with the U.S. and he accused Canada of running "a scan" in response to which Trump said he'd ordered the GSA to remove all Canadian origin products. The GSA is the federal government's procurement platform and it handles hundreds of billions of dollars of orders and contracts for goods and software
and other services that support federal offices. Trump also threatened over the weekend to stop Canadian aircraft company bombardier from selling in the U.S. to which the Canadian company put out a statement explaining much of its supply chain and its parts are made in the U.S. at American companies. Over a million children lost snap food benefits over the past year and it's impacting access
to free breakfast and lunch at schools and VR's Giuliana Kim reports. Tens of thousands of schools in the U.S. offer free meals to all of its students regardless of income through the community eligibility provision. In this program, the federal government helps pay for universal free meals depending on how many families are on assistance, like SNAP. Page Shumaker De Mayo is an education policy analyst at the Center for American
Progress and she says the dramatic decline in SNAP participation is causing school officials to worry. They're going to have to start picking up some of the tab and then they have to make tough decision about looking at their budget to determine if they can afford to continue to provide free meals for all or not. So far dozens of schools have announced an end to their universal free meal programs. And Pyrenees Giuliana Kim reporting U.S. stock sank today. This is NPR News.
New Hampshire primary voters are choosing candidates for Congress Governor in the state legislature today with the retirement of Senator Jean Shaheen creating competitive races. The two Republicans hoping to replace the three-mtern Democrat are former senators. She previously defeated Johnson, New New and Scott Brown. The Democratic race includes Congressmen Chris Poppiss and his departure from that seat has led to a crowd of candidates seeking to fill in.
A new Pew Research study finds more than four in 10 Americans say that Muslims are having a negative effect on the U.S. NPR's adjacent derros reports the study examins data collected since the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks. Pew Research finds that views on Islam are now more negative and more partisan than shortly after 9/11. In 2026, just over half of those surveyed said Islam
is more likely than other religions to encourage violence. In 2002, that number was just 25 percent.
More than three-quarters of Republicans this year say the religion promotes violence whereas fewer than one-third believed that was the case shortly after 9/11. Pew also found that about six in 10 American Muslims say there's a lot of discrimination against their communities while just over a third say someone has expressed support for them in the past year because of their religion.
